It's hard to find a person that you're compatible with to operate a Jaeger with, hard to find someone that you just click with in a way that opens up the link properly and makes it doable and hard to find someone you can trust with that much of yourself, with that much of your soul.

And Kiki isn't a person that opens up easily to others, isn't one for oversharing or passing her own personal boundaries to actually share a vulnerable moment with another person. While, she has some close friends, they are few and far between and well picked out.

She doesn't just pick anyone to see beneath the surface and get to know her. It's why she feels so safe with Mitsuhide, how much of a delight it is to step into a Jaeger and get buckled in, and feel Mitsuhide beside her, without even looking, it's like she's suddenly very aware of him and just how close they are more than physically in these moments.

Kiki's granted a rare inside look into Mitsuhide's thoughts and feelings, a look that would feel more common, if Mitsuhide wasn't also in certain ways careful with what he said. His words aren't planned out, and his emotions are clear, but the heart wrenching stuff aren't usually shared.

So, Kiki's granted a glimpse beneath the surface, a glimpse into the man that is one of her best friends, a man that she's really come to love and appreciate and know so much better! Kiki's often surprised by how easy this feels with him. She's half-positive that with her other close friends, it may not even be possible to share this kind of connection.

It's a connection that runs very deep, and is more flower and wider than any river. It's a connection that's reserved for Mitsuhide alone, a level of trust that is perhaps more special by their differences. Kiki is a lot more reserved, very cautious and careful with her words, and Mitsuhide is often very open with his words. And in their own ways, that holds back deep, vulnerable moments, and yet enables them to feel even more powerful when they truly happen.

Kiki's given a glimpse beneath the words and the phrases, beneath the easy and familiar emotions of Mitsuhide, and given a chance to really step in and get to know him in a way that is hard to define or even attempt to explain with words. It's special. It's unique. It's something shared just between the two of them.

And yet, there's that familiar ease once the connection's established, and they both lean into it, unafraid of what the other may find, and end up facing a Kaiju, how easy it is to move with Mitsuhide, to flow like they are one person, not two, operating such a machine.

And that connection is like static carried between them or a whisper caught and lifted up by the wind. It's smooth and easy, and light as a feather, packed in with the weight of how close they are, but carried like it's light too.

They move and fight and work together, and even the Kaiju stand no chance when Mitsuhide and Kiki step into a Jaeger, work together, built up by a tough and strong connection, a familiarity that eases them into each step and makes each one even stronger and with even more power.

And together, they pull through, and the victory tastes sweet and feels well won. It's together that they are a team, a connection that goes out from one to the other, a connection that sees the other, plans with the other, and works together in a way that makes it all seem effortless.

It is the two of them that become stronger together, almost naturally.
