Vanellope's Scent

Meanwhile, somewhere else in the forest, a toad was hopping around and then a huge thump following afterwards. The thump had made the toad jump a bit and hopped away with the thumps behind it. It turned out that the thumps were made by Zombie jumping up and down while following it. The toad had hopped on a log with Zombie and Clyde looking at it as it caught and ate a fly. It then made a croaking sound which made its cheeks puff up which made Zombie and Clyde want to do it, too.

Clyde: Huh!

They took a deep breath and puffed out their cheeks as well, but they weren't able to make the sound like the toad. Zangief then came and wasn't impressed with what they were doing. He waddled toward them and asked them what they were doing.

Zangief: What are you meshugenah bears doing?

When he got closer, he squeezed Clyde's cheeks out first then he got to Zombie's next. When he did, Zombie blew right into Zangief's face which made him turn around and fall on his back. Clyde started explaining to him about what they were doing when Zombie made a 'ribbet' sound to the toad.

Clyde: Uh, gee, Uncle Zangief, Zombie and me–we was just trying to communicate with the toad.

Zangief: Communicate with toad.

Zombie: Ribbet.

Clyde: Yeah, see there? Zombie just asked it if it's seen Vanellope.

The toad then croaked again and Zangief wasn't believing any of it.

Zangief: You bears are a bagel short of a bushel. I don't know why I put up with you.

Clyde: Sorry, Uncle Zangief. Do you still need us?

Zangief: Yes. Like a hole in the head. Now, close your mouths… and keep nose out for them.

They then began searching for Ralph and/or Vanellope with Zombie and Clyde sniffing the ground and air to catch one of their scents. While they were sniffing, Zombie had picked up a scent and looked in the direction where it's coming from. When he did, he got very excited and was trying to tell Clyde when Clyde started mumbling which made Zombie cover his mouth. Instead of talking, he pointed to where he caught the scent and Clyde went to see what he found. He then got very excited as well, and they started flailing around and trying to get Zangief's attention. They finally got his attention which made him shake his head and waddled up to them.

Zangief: Now what? You two have ants in pants?

Zombie grabbed and pointed him to where they were pointing at and Zangief saw what or it was which he called out.

Zangief: Ralph!

It turned out to be Ralph laying on the other side of the stream. He was knocked out when he heard Zangief calling out to him and woke up.

Zangief: Ralph, can you hear me?

Ralph: Zangief?

Zangief: Don't worry, Boychik! Zangief is coming!

They jumped into the stream and were going to the other side, but the fog had unexpectedly rolled in which stopped them.

Clyde: What's happening, Uncle Zangief?

Zangief: I don't know. I can't see nothing.

He began calling Ralph's name over and over again when Ralph got up and caught Vanellope's scent.

Zangief: Ralph! Ralph! Ralph!

Ralph: It's Vanellope!

Zangief: Answer me!

Ralph: Zangief, I've got Vanellope's trail. Go back and tell Felix not to worry. I'm going to find Vanellope and bring her home.

He then left to find Vanellope while Zangief and the others went the opposite direction to tell Felix about what's going on.

Zangief: Oy. Come, we do as Ralph says and go tell Felix.

Clyde: But Uncle Zangief, Zombie and me wanted to go on a journey.

Zangief: I'm sorry, Boys, but this journey is for Ralph and Vanellope alone.

Zangief went to Felix's home and saw him in the shed lying by the fire. He noticed Zangief standing in the doorway and walked over to him to see what he had to say. Zangief started explaining to him about what Ralph said to him which made Felix upset and started pacing back and forth.

Felix: What do you mean, 'he just ran off?'

Zangief: I mean, he's got Vanellope's scent. Told me to tell me not to worry, and away he went. He's a wolf on a mission.

Felix: I'm going to go help him look.

That made Zangief gasp and blocked the doorway before Felix could leave. He began to reason with Felix that everything will be fine which calmed him down a little bit but he was still nervous.

Zangief: No, Felix! This is a journey for father and daughter. You must have faith in them.

Felix: You're sure Ralph has her trail?

Zangief: Mm-hmm.

Felix: And you're sure Ralph's alright?

Zangief: Don't worry, Felix. Remember, they're well equipped. They are both part wolf.

He then petted Felix's head which calmed him down a lot more. Back to Ralph, he is now on the side of a cliff when he encounters three wolverines. One of them is a female while the other two are males. He then heard his mother's voice telling him what their names meant.

Mother's Voice: Your fears.

Ralph: I have no reason to fight the Wolverine Clan. What do you want?

Wolverine 1: You invade our territory. What do you want?

Ralph: Only to pass through unharmed. I'm looking for my daughter.

Wolverine 1: He's looking for his daughter.

They began circling around him which made Ralph a little scared about what they were going to do. They then started talking to each other while still circling him.

Wolverine 2: Yes, and he's following a raven.

Female Wolverine: A raven? Why not a fox? Or did she outwit you?

They began backing Ralph to a corner while also laughing at him. They then began asking him questions that made him uncomfortable.

Wolverine 1: Tell me, are you afraid?

Ralph: No!

Wolverine 1: Come now. Are you sure, huh?

Ralph: Okay, okay, I'm afraid.

Female Wolverine: Of course you are! And you must listen to your fears. Let them lead you back to the safety of your cozy little home.

They then started commenting on how Ralph is now scared and began taunting him. Ralph then argued back at them which made them not very happy at all.

Wolverine 1: Look how he's giving in to the fear.

Wolverine 2: Yes.

Female Wolverine: Soon, he'll run home… like the whimpering dog that he is!

Ralph: No! I'm afraid, but not of you. I'm afraid for my daughter, and I have to find her, so get out of my way!

Wolverine 1: Stop following the raven.

All: Go home! Go home! Go home!

They then vanished into a wisp of smoke which got Ralph very baffled. He sniffed the spot to where they were, but he couldn't find a scent.

Ralph: Huh? It's like they were… never here.

What he didn't notice was that there was a white wolf watching him until it also disappeared into a wisp of smoke as well.
