The Bear

She finally found an exit and started walking towards it. What she didn't count on though, was a huge male bear coming out of the shadows. He started roaring and swiping his paws at her. She was able to get out of the cave and away from him. But she couldn't get far because she ran straight to the edge of a cliff. She then turned around and gasped when the bear was getting closer to her. Since she couldn't run anywhere, she braced herself to get hit, but before the bear could hit her with his right paw, Ralph came and bit it. Right after he bit the bear's paw, it gave out a pained roar and thrashed it back and forth to get Ralph to let go. Vanellope opened her eyes to see what was going on and saw Ralph holding onto the bear's paw.

Vanellope: Papa!

The bear was finally able to throw Ralph off and he landed on his back. After he landed on his back, he started talking to her.

Ralph: Glad you're still speaking to me.

The bear then went after Vanellope again so she ran under a dead bush where the bear couldn't reach her.

Vanellope: Save yourself, Papa!

Ralph: What? And miss the excitement?

He got up and jumped on the bear's back which gave Vanellope enough time to escape. Ralph was able to hang onto the bear for a bit until it managed to throw him off. He landed and skidded on his back three times until he finally stopped. The bear then started to attack him until Vanellope bit the back of his right hind leg. The bear swiped his paws at her and managed to hit her which made her flip and roll to the ledge. She was able to grab onto the ledge and hang on, but she wouldn't be able to hang on any longer. To make matters worse is that the bear was walking towards her, but Ralph was able to stop him by biting his left heel.

Ralph: Oh, no, you don't!

The bear swung his leg and threw Ralph off, but because of that, it made him trip and fall on Ralph. Ralph was able to crawl out from underneath the bear and went to help Vanellope.

Vanellope: Papa!

Ralph was able to find a tree branch and held it out to her so she could grab it. She grabbed the branch and climbed up when the bear started walking towards them. They started arguing with each other about who would hold him off and who to run.

Ralph: I'll hold him off. You run for it.

Vanellope: No, I'll hold him off and you run for it!

Ralph: There's no time to argue. I'm your father. You do what I say!

The bear took a swipe at them which made Vanellope jump to the right and Ralph to the left.

Vanellope: And I say I'm too big to be ordered around!

Ralph then pushed her out of the way when the bear started attacking her.

Ralph: How did you get so stubborn?

Vanellope: I take after you, remember?

Ralph then backed away a little but Vanellope stayed where she was and looked at the bear. Her eyes then started glowing yellow the longer she stared at him. Ralph was looking back and forth at them and remembered his mother's voice talking about the bear.

Vanellope: Wow.

Mother's Voice: Inner Knowing.

After Vanellope's eyes stopped glowing, she told her father that they had to get out of there.

Vanellope: We've got to jump.

Ralph: But we'll be killed.

Vanellope: And we'll be killed if we don't.

She pushed him over the ledge but before she followed, she turned to the bear and talked to him.

Vanellope: I hope you're right.

She then jumped off and the bear had vanished like it was a ghost. Once the bear vanished, Ralph got up on another ledge that they landed on and asked Vanellope about it.

Ralph: You knew the ledge was here.

Vanellope: Yeah, I did, sorta.

Ralph: How?

Vanellope: I looked at the bear–No. I looked at his thoughts, and I saw it. Why did you come and find me?

Ralph: I came to bring you home, Vanellope.

Vanellope: No. I don't want to go home–not until I find who I am.

She then jumped down on a rock with Ralph still on the ledge. He chuckled softly after hearing her say that and didn't believe it.

Ralph: That's ridiculous, Vanellope. You know who you are.

Vanellope: No. I know what I am, but not who I am. And I'm not stopping until I find out.

She then jumped down another rock when Ralph started to talk to her again.

Ralph: Then I'm coming with you.

Vanellope: Oh, Papa.

Ralph jumped down next to her and sniffed the air to find out where they were when he got a scent.

Ralph: It's salt water. Vanellope, we're close to the ocean. Come on.

He then went past her and she was not happy to be ordered around but she followed him anyway.
