Hiccup was wide awake very early in the morning doing some jogging; after that weird dream or memory he had, he just couldn't fall back to sleep. As he did his jogging, his mind turned to what he had witnessed; he had no idea whether it was weird or not.

However, if it was indeed a memory, as he believed, the thing that grabbed his attention throughout the entire thing was the fact that his father and Drago used to be friends. Wasn't quite sure what made that.

Toothless' hologram then appeared on his shoulder. "Hiccup, are you too concerned with what we just witnessed?"

Hiccup looked at Toothless. "You saw it too, bud?"

"We do share experiences, and I can definitely tell you that it was indeed a memory," said Toothless.

"Any idea how I managed to witness it?"

"I don't share your experiences; I also show your father's, but that memory took place long before I was even created. Also, I cannot say for certain whether I'll witness something similar again. However, if you're concerned with what you witnessed, there's only one person to turn to."

Hiccup then turned and looked at the rising sun, wondering what all this meant.

Later that day, Hiccup visited his father and explained everything that he had witnessed.

"Toothless confirms that it was indeed a memory, not just a dream," said Hiccup. "We still don't quite know how we witnessed it, but I need to know whether it's all true."

Stoick closed his eyes. "Yes, it was all true."

Hiccup didn't look surprised. "So you and Drago were indeed friends."

"We were," Stoick admitted. "Back before meta powers started to spring up, we were practically joined at the hip. However, when metahumans began to spring up, all that changed. Those early years were a nightmare, especially here in America, as there were already strong racial issues. There were those who treated the mutated abilities as monsters, and then there were those who misused their powers to wreak havoc across the country and the world, but you know all this from your history lessons."

Hiccup nodded. "Yeah, but you in the early heroes managed to maintain the status quo bringing in a new era into society."

"Yes, but when things started, I was not nearly as strong as I was now," Stoick admitted. "However, when Drago received his meta ability, something changed him. Both of us wanted to maintain order, but we had different ways to go about it. I believe we needed a symbol to guide people, but Drago felt someone needed to be in charge to point people in the right direction.

And naturally, with his newly found meta ability as he deemed that he should be the one that let the people. At first, he uses abilities to assist people, taking away people's monstrous appearances and making them seem like normal humans for bestowing powers onto the weak. However, he then issued a price for his abilities, and that came in the form of servitude."

"I still can't believe the two of you, friends," said Hiccup.

"Sometimes I can't believe it myself," Stoick admitted. "I tried to stop, and many times, each time, I have soundly defeated or nearly brought to the point of death. I then realised the battle against his army; I needed one for myself, so I began teaming up with people who believed as I did that we needed to inspire people to do the right thing. Your mother and Forge were the first ones to join me, but steadily we began to grow in number. The rest is history."

"So I guess the only thing we can do now is to do our best and hope it's enough," said Hiccup.

Stoick nodded. "And I know you will do me proud, son. Now you have practical training today, so you better get going or else you'll be late."

Stoick then began to lead Hiccup to his classroom just as Eret exited from another classroom.

"I'll be watching too; it's going to be a riot," said Stoick.

"In a good way or bad way?" Hiccup asked.

"Funny bumping into the two of you," said Eret.

They looked up and saw Eret for the first time, and seconds later, from the classroom was Bard.

"Hey, Bard," Hiccup waved. "Are you hanging around with Eret? I bet he's teaching you a lot."

"Oh, I am," said Bard.

Eret looked at Hiccup with a somewhat threatening look. "Hiccup, I suggest you start warming up. It's going to be a busy day."

"Yes, sir!"

Eret was not kidding as the entire class were in their superhero costumes and immediately reported to Ground Gamma.

"I can't believe already back at it," said Helga excitedly as she danced around. "Aren't you excited?"

Ingrid smiled at her. "Bet you're glad they were getting close to the summer months."

"Yeah, I was totally freezing back in winter," Helga confirmed.

"I'm just glad I can now wear my summer gear," said Ruffnut, who was no longer wearing a fur jacket.

"I didn't realise the temperature had risen so much," said Sven.

"Everyone's costumes have changed since we started school, haven't they?" said Speedfist. "They've adapted just as much as we have."

"I'm amazed you're not cooking in that armour, Hiccup," said Calder looking at Hiccup.

"I've got a cooling system and heater built in," Hiccup explained.

"At least I can use my full power now," said Snotlout, who was now wearing a sleeveless shirt. "I always need prep time when it comes to the winter months."

"Actually, I think it's Hiccup's costume that changed the most," said Sven. "I mean, you've added so many gadgets to your costume."

"Had upgrade; it felt like the smartest thing to do as we progressed," said Hiccup. "I even had some help from Sigrid."

"She is incredibly talented," Sven agreed.

Astrid just huffed as if the prospect of Hiccup and Sigrid together was abhorrent.

"You are right?" Heather asked.

"I'm fine," said Astrid.

"Well, what do we have here?" said a voice. "Relaxed and full of yourselves as always. Obviously, you underestimate us."

"There you are," Dogsbreath smiled. "Been looking forward to this."

"Ha, is that so? I'm not sure why; there's no way you can stand a chance against us in this exercise," said Cael as he led Class 1-B. "Come on, Class A! Let's see who's best once and for all!" He then suddenly pulled out a piece of paper. "You might wanna look at this survey! We cooked it up at the Festival, and it's enlightening. I asked what was better, Class A's pathetic attempt at being rock stars or Class B's obviously superior play. Oh, what's this? We won by two votes? You guys have been hogging the spotlight ever since we started school, but your staters at the campus now is trashed!"

"Seriously? Did we somehow blow at the Festival, you think?" Dogsbreath asked, looking at the sheet.

Hiccup groaned. "Guys, it wasn't the competition, and neither is this."

Cael just kept on laughing like a maniac. "Finally, it's Class A versus Class B! Our first joint combat training, you're finished—"

Kaia was just about to smack Cael silly, but Eret beat her to the punch by wrapping his scarf around his neck, strangling him.

"That's enough," said Eret.

"Stranglehold!" Yale gulped.

"Today, there will be a special participant," said Blood King.

"Try not to embarrass yourselves if at all possible," said Eret.

"Who's going to be joining us?" Astrid wandered.

"I'll take them down," Snotlout smiled.

"Is it going to be a babe?" Clueless asked.

"We'll do our best to ever it is," said Dogsbreath and Tab in unison.

"This person is interested into switching into the hero track," said Eret.

Everyone then saw walking towards them was Bard. Naturally, he didn't have a superhero costume and was only wearing his PE kit. However, he was wearing some sort of mouthpiece and around his neck was Eret's binding cloth.

"From General Studies Class C, Bard Caleson," said Eret. "Bard will be joining in on your training, hoping to be one of you. So treat him as you would any classmate."

"Mentioned that just before the Thawfeast Festival," said Hiccup.

"Uh, is that one of Mr Eret's capture starts," said Zag, who strangely had the face of a word bubble and was wearing a mask that resembled the page of a comic.

"The mask looks special too," said Felicia, who had short brown hair and was wearing a costume that resembled that of a mushroom.

"Welcome to the fight!" Tab yelled enthusiastically.

"He's a powerful telepath; he can actually control your mind if you're not careful," said Olaf.

"Yeah, I remember," said Sven.

"Wait one sec," said Agnar looking at Hiccup. "He managed to take over Hiccup, but he snapped out of it."

"And that's because I took special preparations beforehand, preparations which I haven't taken up this moment," Hiccup admitted.

"Well, Bard, why don't you say a few words?" Eret suggested.

"I am Bard Caleson; I already faced some of you as opponents during the Thawfest Festival," said Bard. "But we're not friends just because we fought before. I do not subscribe to that sort of sportsmanship. We are still competing to be the best, and I'm already countless steps behind. I need to prove myself. One day I will become a proper hero, and then I can use my powers to help citizens in need. All of you are hurdles that I must overcome; I'm not here in search of friends. Thanks for having me."

Everyone then immediately applauded.

"Whoa, he's so serious," said Fishlegs.

"We better be on guard," said Ragnar.

"He must have been taken intensity lessons from you, Ranger," said Tuffnut.

"Wait, you think so?" Ranger asked.

"I like this guy," Cael smiled.

"Shouldn't we be getting on with this Blood?" Eret asked.

"Tibor combat training!" Blood King announced. "This will be a battle between Class A and Class B, here in one corner of Field Gamma. You will be grouped into teams of four, each competing for one at a time."

"That sounds like fun, hope it's a good mix," said Wendy, whose costume resembled that of lizard scales.

"Me too," said Felicia excitedly.

"With Bard, that makes 41 competitors, so would it be impossible to divide the teams equally?" Bear asked, who was completely covered in fur.

"Which is why he will be participating in two matches," Blood King explained. "One time with that on one time with Class A. In other words, two of the five matches will be five against four. Prepare yourselves."

"That super unfair for the smaller team," said Helga.

"It's probably more of a disadvantage to have been experienced Bard on your side. The larger teams will have the advantage in numbers but also a handicap. Listen closely to the scenario; you are all hero agencies trying to capture a villainous organisation. You should consider your opponents to be vile criminals; you'll win if you capture four competitors."

"They do say villains are organising more these days," said Felicia.

Tab smiled as he clenched his fists. "Keeping it nice and simple."

"Oh, we're heroes, but we're villains to the opposing team?" Speedfist moaned.

"There's no need to get worked up about it," said Astrid.

"In your team base camp, you'll find a prison, want to put your enemies behind bars that will count as a capture," Blood King continued.

"It would be most efficient to try and disarm our opponent and capture them near their home bases, but I doubt it'll be that easy we get down to it," said Bear.

"So we have to capture for losers. Is that what you meant when you said disadvantage?" Snotlout asked.

Clueless just stared at him blankly.

"Well, your team might not be used to fighting together, and therefore people on one of the five-person teams are captured; that will consider a loss," said Eret.

"You mean you're making us carry out excess baggage," Snotlout glared.

"Yeah, don't be mean about it," said Clueless.

"It's fine; he makes a fair point," said Bard.

"Your understanding only makes us look like a bunch of jerks."

"Now…" said Eret holding out a red box.

"…draw your lots," said Blood King, holding out a blue box.

All the students reached into the boxes, and pretty soon, they had five teams from each class, as well as which battle each team would take part in. Once everyone in the hero courses teams had been verified, teachers then held out the two boxes to Bard.

"Your turn, Bard," said Blood King. "You'll join one team from each class."

Bard reached into the boxes and pulled out to fold with numbers. The red ball that represented Class A had a large number one on it, while the blue ball representing Class B had a number five. He then immediately made his way to his respected teammates, first being Class A which consisted of Heather, Dogsbreath, Wartihog and Clueless.

"Let's have some fun out there, man; this is going to be awesome," said Dogsbreath. "Get pumped!"

"Tell us more details about your powers," said Heather.

"I bet girls kind of dig that smirk," said Clueless. "You break them in, huh?"

"Let's win," said Bard.

Bard then made his way over to his team in Class B.

"You are the perfect addition!" Cael announced loudly. "Let us destroy the always in danger Class A and humiliate them!"

"Take a lesson, as in tune him out as much as you can," said Lance.

"Looking forward to it," said Bard.

"Yeah! Let us annihilate those egomaniacs!" Cael yelled.

Fishlegs approached Hiccup as the two of them were in the same team and looked at Bard. They would end up fighting against Bard in the final round.

"Class B Team 5," said Fishlegs looking at Hiccup. "It will be you and Bard's first rematch since the Thawfest Festival, huh?"

Hiccup nodded with a small smile and then pulled out a notebook. "Can't wait to see how he fights; I wonder what new abilities he's learned."

Fishlegs blinked at the notebook. "Where are you keeping that?"

Bard then began to attack his mouthpiece. 'I finally reached it, my starting line.'

"Teams will begin at your base camp! You have 20 minutes!" Blood King announced.

"If there is no decisive victory within the time limit, whoever has the most people left will be the winner," said Eret.

Everyone, apart from the first two teams, sat in front of a large monitor that would broadcast the battles. Then they saw both Stoick and Forge and Midnight had arrived.

"Which class do you put the odds on?" Midnight asked, looking at the two of them.

"Call me biased, but I'm rooting for my son's class," said Stoick.

"Well, there's no denying that Class A certainly have gotten stronger overcoming so many different crises," said Forge. "But the thing is… if you look at their grades, Class B is actually improved more than they have. It's probably because they were able to cover the school curriculums since they didn't run into outside trouble. They've been getting better at a steady rate. Class A has turned disaster into strength, while Class B has taken a more traditional approach to their studies. This will be good."

"Fighters! Take your marks!" Blood King yelled into a microphone.

"You're really into this," Eret noted.

"And start!" Blood King yelled.

They then heard the sound of a horn singing at the start of the match.

Heather and her team were now starting to move out, though they were being rather careful.

"We have a pretty good idea about the other team's abilities, but we should still stay close to one another. There is safety in numbers, after all," said Heather.

"Heard, but don't you think I should just separate from you guys and let loose a million bolts or something?" Clueless asked.

"Yeah, whatever, they knock you out with a sneak attack?" said Dogsbreath. "No backup."

"That's true, and Faith will be tough to now," said Clueless; he instantly remembered that Faith defeated him very quickly during the Thawfest Festival with her vines. "Her quirk is amazing. She kicked my butt; I'll stick with you."

"I would like to take out the most troublesome ability first," said Bard.

"My dude, Bard, you get it," Clueless smiled.

"It's the obvious plan."

"If we're hoping to do something about Faith first, they're probably thinking about the same thing with Clueless and his dangerous attacks," Heather assumed. "Also, even though he has less experience, they would want to avoid Bard's power."

"I'm counting on you guys to keep me safe," said Clueless.

"Maybe we can set things up so that Clueless and Bard can do their thing," Dogsbreath suggested.

Two pigeons then flew down towards Wartihog and landed on his arm. "Thank you, friends."

"So, what did they find?" Dogsbreath asked.

"Faith is to our left alone," Wartihog informed them. "She's using her vines to fill out her surroundings this way."

"I hate to go after the girl all on her own, but we got to stop her, right?" said Dogsbreath.

Sadly before they could put any plan into motion, they heard something big coming their way. A split second later, Bear appeared, grabbing both Heather and Dogsbreath before they had a chance to react.

"Meet my roaring rage!" Bear roared.

Both Heather and Dogsbreath were sent flying into some pipes.

"Both of them?" Clueless stared. "That's not good!"

"We knew you guys would send Wartihog to search for us, and we planned accordingly," Bear smirked. Bear had taken the name Beast and had the ability to increase his size, giving him the strength, speed and acute senses of a wild animal, but when he used it, he often went berserk a little. "Also that you would be most likely weary of Faith's power. Using her as a decoy, I crawled through the shadows to find you. If your team had been prepared, you might have been able to unleash a devastating shock attack, so we opted for a direct approach. I sent you out with my acute sense of smell!"

Clueless looked back at his time, but if you unleashed any physiological taxi would hit his own team.

"You can't use much electricity with your friends around, can you," said Salem as he poked his head over Bear's shoulders. "You don't want to shock them."

Salem then placed his hand over his mouth in the shape of a square and blew hard. "I tried my powers and got a new move!"

Wartihog then suddenly found himself in a solid air prison, and he soon discovered that his boys couldn't reach outside its walls.

While Salem was talking, Bard adjusted the diodes on his mask. "Take them down, Bear!" he said with Salem's voice.

"Consider this when already!" Bear roared.

"The monster is going to murder me!" Clueless cried.

However, Bear suddenly stopped in his tracks, and his entire body went limp.

"Wait, did you get brainwashed?" Salem stared at Bear. "Sounded like that Bard somehow talked with my voice."

"Wait, what is that mask?" Hiccup stared.

"Vocal Modulator: Persona Chords," said Bard.
