The waves crashed against the shore of a Caribbean island. Buried deep with a cliffside was another capsule. As the waves crashed against the rocky terrain, the cliff slowly began to erode away until there was nothing left to hide the capsule.
One more wave was enough to cause the ledge holding the capsule the give, causing the capsule to fall into the ocean, hitting a rock that made it open up before landing in the water.
Thankfully for the dinosaur inside, it was a Water Element. So once it was in the water, the card, along with two Move Cards, glowed blue and summoned the dinosaur.
The dinosaur was another sauropod. It was a mixture of dark blue and tan all over. It had a large tan splotches where its shoulders were, top of the head, parts of the neck, and lower portion of the front legs. While there were large blue splotches on most of the hind legs, the eyes, tail, rest of the neck, and the under belly. This dinosaur was a Jobaria.
Since the card activated underwater, the sauropod quickly swam up to the surface with all his might before he drowned in order to breathe. His head emerged from the water as he took in a deep breath. As the Jobaria looked around at his new surroundings and debated what to do next, several creatures starting leaping out of the water around him. Some of them were dolphins. While the others were similar looking creatures, but entirely different.
(Intro Theme)
It was another day at school for the D-Team. Currently they were sitting through another lecture in science class. Each of the class were paired in groups of two for an experiment they were going to do with the chemistry equipment in front of them. One of the pairs was, unsurprisingly, Max and Rex.
The blonde was paying close attention to what his teacher was saying, taking notes of every step carefully as this assignment was part of their final grade. However, this was a team project, and he can't do the whole thing by himself. Looking over to his partner, he saw that Max wasn't paying attention to the lecture as much as he was. In fact, he wasn't really paying attention at all. Instead, his focus seemed to be on Zoe and her partner; Jim.
He looked at the fellow brunette with annoyance. He never really liked Jim due to how he acted around Zoe, constantly flirting with her. It made him feel threatened. That she'd end up liking Jim more than himself and Rex.
Rex wasn't oblivious to this and poked Max's cheek with his pencil. "Max, focus!" He hissed quietly, as to not disturb the rest of the class.
"I don't understand why Zoe would pick Jim as her partner for the final." Max whispered back. "Why would anyone want to work with him?"
"Maybe she felt like giving him a chance to pass the class." Rex half-guessed, half-tried to end this conversation. "Now can you please focus on the instructions so I don't have to do everything?"
"Relax, I always pick up whenever something important is being said." Max waved him off as he focused back on Zoe and Jim, making sure the boy wasn't trying anything. However, unlike himself, Jim seemed to be paying attention to what the teacher was saying.
Something that both Max and now Rex were having trouble with. The blonde got a tick-mark on his head before hitting Max on the head with his text book, leaving a dent in the shape of the book's spine on his head. This lead to Max face-planting onto the table, thankfully both avoiding the equipment and still conscious enough to listen. "Max, I swear to Seikatsu. I will not be dragged into your stupid love triangle." He said.
"Uuugh." Max just groaned in reply and kept his face on the table. That way he wouldn't have to look at Jim's stupid face.
DK
"What'd you mean by 'love triangle'?" Max asked as they walked out of class after completing their assignment.
"You know exactly what I meant." Rex replied, still annoyed by earlier, despite getting an passing grade that wasn't just barely enough.
"Not really." Max said, looking confused.
Rex responded by facepalming before telling him. "You like Zoe. Jim likes Zoe. You hate Jim. It's a basic love triangle." He explained bluntly.
Max was taken aback by what his friend had just said. "W-why would you say I like Zoe?! That's totally nonsense!" He tried to deny it, but his tone and stuttering pretty sealed his fate as Rex looked at him both unconvinced and unamused. "OK, what gave it away?" He sighed in defeat.
"Dude, I'm pretty sure everyone but Zoe can tell you have a crush on her. I've noticed it since we were seven." Rex told him. "I don't get why you just don't tell her how you feel."
"Because it has to be the right moment!" Max empathized. "If I tell her and she doesn't feel the same then it'll be super awkward afterwards."
Rex could understand what he was getting at. He remembered how things were for Francine and Comet for a while. "I guess you have a point there." He admitted. "Still, if you wait too long then it's very likely someone else will come along and steal her heart before you."
"I know that!" Max almost yelled in frustration. "Chomp and Terry have already told me that! But I've known Zoe nearly my whole life. Way longer then they've known their girlfriends."
"Regardless, you might have to take that leap of faith sooner or later." Rex told him again. Max only nodded this time.
"Boys!" Zoe called out from ahead. "I'm going to leave you behind."
This got Max to snap back into reality. "Coming, Zoe." He quickly responded before running over to where she was, leaving Rex alone to think about what he had heard.
He slowly shook his head, feeling sorry for Max's problem. He wished he could help, but he didn't know how. Or if he should.

At the D-Lab, Guru and Spiny were having a sparing match in one of the many rivers in the sanctuary. Like the first time they fought, Tank watched from the sidelines, a pole tied to her tail had a flag that read 'Go, Spiny!' that she waved. It was something Zoe made for her per the Saichania's request.
Both sauropod and theropod charged towards each other before they collided, sending massive ripples through the water that could be seen even in the waterhole. The two of them struggled as they tried to over power the other and force them down. Spiny had a plan in mind and used this struggle to his advantage. Something that Tank helped him come up with.
His legs started to give and Guru began pushing him back. However, this was exactly what he wanted. While he convinced Guru that he was winning, he glowed blue and activated one of his Move Cards. When the time was right, he quickly backed away and swung his tail at the Ampelosaurus.
What he didn't expect was for Guru to grab his tail with his mouth. "Nice try." He told Spiny before he swung him overhead and slammed him hard onto the ground behind himself, carding the Spinosaurus.
"K.O." Tank sighed as she walked over to Spiny once he was reactivated thanks to the sanctuary's power.
"I don't get it. You shouldn't have seen it coming." Spiny said to Guru.
"You forget that when ever we use a Move Card we glow." Guru answered as he left, before stopping briefly. "Also, faking you're losing to suck your opponent in is not an original strategy." He added before continuing to leave.
Tank walked over to her boyfriend and helped him onto his feet. "You said that he would fall for it." Spiny whined.
"I did. It just turned out that he's been in more battles than I realized." Tank answered. "You'll need to come up with something else."
"What's the point?" Spiny sulked as he flopped onto the ground. "I'm the only one who even still needs their trainer to babysit them."
Tank blinked in confusion. "Babysit?" She repeated.
"Yeah. You've all managed to defeat your trainers within weeks of training and graduated." Spiny said as he recalled each of his friends' victories.
Terry tossed Coal into the air before swinging his tail and hitting her with a Neck Crusher as she came down. One she landed, fire appeared in his mouth and eyes as he sent a trail of fire straight towards her, engulfing the Carcharodontosaurus and defeating her.
Chomp and Toro charged towards each other. But before they collided, Chomp pulled a similar move when he fought Salty, and got underneath Toro and threw him into the air. Electricity then struck and flowed through him as he leapt even higher and came down with Thunder Driver, securing his victory.
Ace and Meg circled each other from quite a distance away. Meg, assuming Ace was going to use the same Move, went towards him with Ninja Attack. However, once the clones started circling him, Ace jumped out of the way. As the Megaraptor wasted her attack on nothing, the Carnotaurus enacted his plan. A tornado formed around him before splitting into two smaller tornadoes, which then formed back into one and lifted Meg off the ground. Ace then leapt into the air and repeatedly kicked her in the face before finishing with a mixture of backflip and kick at the same time.
Paris pushed Kui away before charging up an Emerald Garden. Surprised by the Parasaurolophus using his own attack against him, Kui forgot to dodge until it was too late and his energy was zapped, forcing him to return to his card.
Trooper spun in the air before digging into the ground and activating Mole Attack. Unfortunately for him, Tank slammed her front feet on the ground and created an Earthquake that trapped the Ankylosaurus in a ditch that slowly closed with him in it.
"Okay. You have a point there." Tank admitted. "But that's just because you've got the short end of the stick here."
"I'll have you know that my-"
"I'm referring to the fact Guru is the one you're trying to beat." Tank smacked his face with her tail, a blush appearing on her own face. Whacking on the head wasn't really an option thanks to their size difference when full-sized. "Do you remember the tournaments we had on the time machine?"
"I remember someone, that may or may not have been you, hitting me a lot. Does that count?" Spiny asked. Ever since Jonathan shared Dr. Ancient's story, the other dinosaurs were slowly starting to remember small parts of their time onboard the time machine.
"Do you remember the time Brontikens and Guru had a tourney battle?"
"...Do you?"
"Only the beginning and some trading of blows. That's why I'm asking you."
"What does that have to do with helping me get confident?" Spiny asked. "All this seems to be doing is telling me that Guru can't be defeated unless I used an over powered Move Card. And Ultimate Water isn't going to work, he stopped that one."
"I'm trying to help you feel better by reminding you how powerful Guru is." The Saichania explained.
"If that's the case, you're really bad at cheering people up. That felt more like an exposition dump than comforting."
Tank growled, resisting the urge to hit her boyfriend again with all her might. "You can at least pretend to be feeling better." She said through her teeth, metaphorically of course.
It was then that a beeping noise could be heard throughout the sanctuary. "It's the fire alarm! We're under attack!" Spiny screamed as he ran around for his life. "Every dino for themselves!"
"Spiny!" Tank yelled at the panicking Spinosaurus. She leapt on this tail to prevent him from hurting someone, or himself, effectively pinning him to the ground.
"What?"
"That's not the fire alarm. It's the dino signal. Another dinosaur's appeared."
"Oooooh." Spiny said as he and Tank were soon recalled as their cards were removed from their slots and summoned again as chibis in-front of their partners by the teleporter.
"All right. Where's today's dinosaur, Reese." Max asked once everybody was there.
"Looks like in the Caribbean Sea." Reese said as she plugged in the coordinates.
Ace paled when he heard this. While he wasn't scared of going into water anymore, he still preferred to stay on land. Especially if he couldn't feel the bottom of the water. "When you say in the Caribbean Sea, do you mean in the water or on an island within the sea?" He asked Reese.
"I can't say for sure as it's not as easy to track down wild dinosaurs compared to those we already have." Reese said.
"Why is everyone talking like we've never heard this before?" Spiny randomly asked.
"From what I can tell, I'd say it's probably not too far out into sea. But still far enough that you'll need a boat to find it."
"Just make sure you don't put us in the ocean." Zoe warned her sister as they got onto the platform.
"Zoe, have I ever let you down like that before?" Reese asked her sister.
"In one word; yes." Zoe said as they teleported away.
Reese just blinked at her sister's remark before shrugging her shoulders. "She's still just jealous I got a boyfriend before her."
DK
Thankfully for the D-Team, especially Ace, they materialized on an island beach instead of in the middle of the sea. "Wow!" Chomp said, amazed at the sight.
"It's beautiful!" Paris gushed.
"It's not that much different then any other ocean view." Terry said. As if Seikatsu herself heard him, a humpback breeched out of the water, directly in front of them. "Okay, that was something I've never seen before."
"Yeah, the scenery's amazing. Can we focus on the mission?" Tank asked impatiently.
"I'm with Tank. The dinosaur could be much further out into sea or even on another island." Zoe pointed out.
"If that's the case then I'll simply play boat (bo-out) again, like in the Amazon." Spiny said.
"I don't think that'll work." Rex said. "For starters, we don't know where to look, so there's a high chance you might become so exhausted you'll return to your card in the middle of the ocean." He told the Spinosaurus.
"And then we drown." Ace added, shivering at the thought.
"Then we'll just have to borrow a boat of our own." Max declared.
"But we don't know how to manage a boat." Zoe pointed out.
"I said borrow, not steal." Max pointed out. "We'll just ask someone to give us a ride. I'll betcha anyone will give us a lift for free if it'll help out the D-Team."
"Somehow I doubt that." Terry slumped.
Before they could continue, they heard shouting behind them that sound like it came from inside a building. Turning around, they saw the shouting came from what looked like a tavern. "We don't want you pirates here!"
The door opened up and seven men dressed like pirates were thrown out. The last one was a short man dressed like a captain with a large black beard. Sensing the hostility, the D-Team hid themselves from their sight. "Fine! Your tavern sucked anyway!"
The tavern owner responded to this insult by throwing a mug that hit his forehead. When it landed on the ground, it was revealed to have a green parrot trapped inside. After a bit a struggling, the parrot was able to pull himself free from the mug. "Awwk!" He squawked before flapping around to glare at the man in the captain suit. "Polly, pay the moron! Polly, pay the moron!" He repeated angrily what he heard before. "I'm a parrot! Where did you get the idea I have any money on me!?" He yelled at the supposed captain. "Also, I've told you this a million times, my name's Steve, not Polly!"
"No one cares what your name is, Carl." The captain grumbled as he got back onto his feet and dusted himself off.
"Steve." The parrot corrected him.
"Whatever." The captain waved him off. "Those buffoons are just lucky we left our boat too far from here to blast them all with our canons!" He turned and yelled at the tavern. "You lucked out today, jackass! No one charges Blackbeard II for anything!"
"But it was just twenty dollars for the drinks we had." The first mate, a blonde man with an eyepatch called Copper, pointed out. "If anything, that was pretty cheep."
Blackbeard responded by grabbing the hilt of his sword. "Mr. Copper, did I ask to be corrected?" The first mate shook his head so much that it sounded like it was full of marbles. "For the record, I don't need correcting. Blackbeard II is never wrong!"
"Then why is it we haven't found any decent loot for almost a whole year?" Steve asked.
"Th-th-that wasn't my fault!" Blackbeard stuttered as he tried to find a way to defend himself. "We just happen to keep getting faulty maps. No, they weren't faulty! We already came across those treasures! We just happened to find other maps." While the rest of the crew bought this, the parrot just sighed in annoyance at everyone's either gullibility or ego.
From their hiding place, the D-Team listened in on their conversation. "Are those guys real pirates?" Paris asked.
"Treasure hunting. Eye patch. Parrot. Threatening with death. Seem to be pirates to be." Ace answered.
"And not the funny type from cartoons." Chomp added.
While the dinos whispered, the kids were thinking about other things. "Their captain called himself Blackbeard II." Rex pointed out.
"Maybe it's like with Uncle Tokugawa and it's just a nickname." Zoe guessed. "He does look like the Blackbeard from the history books."
"Regardless of how he got his name, he just said they had a ship." Max said.
"Yeah, that comes with being a pirate." Rex told him. "What does that have to doooo..." Rex paused when he saw the smile on Max's face, letting him know that the brunette had a plan. A plan that would not end well for them.
Terry was picking up the same message as his king. "Max, whatever you're thinking is a bad idea."
The others were confused by what Terry and Rex were talking about until Max spilled the beans. "What're you talking about? It's a perfect idea. Those pirates say have a ship. We can use it to search the seas for the dinosaur."
"And you're just assuming they'll let us hitch a ride with them?" Tank asked rhetorically.
"Money." Spiny said randomly. "We'll offer to pay them money."
"And how are we going to do that without us carrying any change on us?" Zoe asked her partner.
"I said we'll offer. I never said we'd go through with it." Spiny replied.
"Look, nobody's going to be talking to those pirates about money." Max said to the rest of the team. "All we have to do is sneak aboard while they aren't looking, wait for the dinosaur to show itself to us, send ours out to battle it back into a card, grab the card, and teleport out of there before they even notice." He explained his plan. "It's fool proof."
"Actually, I can see a lot of holes in that plan." Ace gave Max a serious look. "For starters, there might not be a place on the ship to hide us. Another being we have absolutely no idea where they're heading and could easily be going somewhere else entirely. And lastly, they could easily find and kill us!" He yelled the last part.
Max didn't seem that worried. "You're acting like you've forgotten you're actually a full-grown Carnotaurus." He deadpanned with a smile, not turning his head around to look at Ace. "We'll just keep someone with us, preferably you or Tank since you're the smallest, to fight off the pirates if they cause any trouble. Besides, it's not like we haven't beat up criminals before."
"The Alpha Gang don't really count as criminals." Zoe brought up.
"You're right." Max realized. "These guys don't have dinosaurs." Seeing the looks of uncertainty his friends still had, Max sighed and started getting serious. "'Sigh'. Look, guys, I'm just trying to find a way to get the dinosaur before the Alpha Gang does. Unless any of you have another plan, this is our best bet."
The others looked at each other. They hated to admit it, but Max had a point. They didn't see any available boats in the area, and they can't afford to wait. Sighing, Rex told Max. "I just hope you're right about this."
"If you guys are done, I think the angry men are leaving." Spiny said as he kept watch on their ride.
The others poked their heads out and saw that the Spinosaurus was right. The men seemed to be almost done with whatever they were arguing about, thought they could still hear squabbling. "Jeez, that must've been a long rant." Terry said.
"It'll be an even longer time finding that dinosaur if we don't get on that ship." Tank reminded them. "Let's go." She said before they all took off after the pirates.
DK
After trailing them from a distance, the D-Team caught up with the pirates just as they reached their ship. To their surprise, the ship looked exactly like an old styled pirate ship. Complete with a skull flag. "This is their ship?" Zoe asked. "I didn't even know people used wooden ships still."
"Well, they did say they were broke." Max remembered as he looked at the ship with disappointment. "Was kind of hoping for something a bit more modern. Like a speedboat." He said with a fantasizing smile. "That would be awesome."
"You're the one who said we should sneak on board the ship." Terry pointed out. "We can't be picky about the design."
"Terry's right. We got work to do." Ace agreed before looking at the ship more carefully. "Still, it's going to be difficult getting onto that thing without them noticing us. That gangplank seems to be the only way on."
"We could try the anchor." Spiny suggested.
"The anchor?" The others repeated.
"Yeah. We jump onto it as it rises from the water, climb into one of those hole things." He gestured to the peepholes on the side of the ship. "And hide while they do stuff from above deck."
The rest of the team blinked in confusion at what they heard. Not because they didn't understand it. The opposite actually. "That actually might be the best plan we have." Tank said before joking. "Looks like your brain finally got back to working again."
"My what's what?" Spiny asked, the genius not lasting unfortunately.
Before Tank could either sigh or wack him, the ship's anchor started to reel in from the water. "Looks like it's time to board." Rex said as the kids recalled their dinos to save them the trouble of jumping onto the ship.
"This is going to be close." Zoe said as they got into crouching position.
"Ready." Max said aloud as the anchor got closer and closer to where they were. They waited until it was right in front of them before they all shouted together. "Now!" And jumped.
They each managed to grab ahold of one of the anchor's arms, Max and Zoe having to share one, and pull themselves onto the palms in time when it just went by one of the peepholes. "Move!" Rex told them as he quickly dove in. Max instinctively grabbed Zoe's hand before the pinkette returned the gesture and they both leapt in after Rex before the anchor passed the peep hole and stopped near the deck.
From the deck, Blackbeard and Copper approached the part of the deck where the anchor was. "Did you hear something?" Blackbeard asked the first mate.
"I think I did." Copper said. "Maybe there's something below deck?" He suggested.
A suggestion which angered the captain. "I've told you before! No-one suggests me anything!" He yelled as he roundhouse kicked Copper to the ground. "If there's anyone bellow deck, I will slit their throats!" He shouted as he banged the deck floor.
From below, the D-Team didn't make out what he said, not that they needed to from the tone of his muffled shouting, and called back out their partners. "Geez, talk about friendship." Chomp joked.
"From what I remember from the history books, the real Blackbeard, while still dangerous, was a lot more cooperative than that." Rex said as he crossed his arms. "This guy's nothing more than another bossy villain leader."
"Just like Dr.Z and the old lady." Zoe said, scratching her ear when she thought she heard something, but assumed it was just a mind trick from her history of saying those words.
"Release the sails!" Blackbeard shouted to his crew. "Set a corse for Blackbeard Island #17! There's got to be something we missed in that pile of rocks."
"Sir, you do remember we've never been able to get close enough to that island due to all the sharp rocks both on and surrounding it, right?" Steve reminded him from the captain's shoulder. "We can't even get close enough to use a lifeboat, which we don't have since it sunk thanks to said rocks."
"Thank you for the reminder, Ralph, but..." Blackbeard grabbed the parrot strongly by the beak. "I think you heard what I just said to Mr. Copper over there." He pointed to the man lying in pain on the deck. "Now do your job before you end up like him!" He shook the parrot off his shoulder.
"Awwk!" Steve squawked, flying out of Blackbeard's range. "I don't even have a job, you moron. You just stole me from a pet store." He muttered and rolled his eyes before flying somewhere else on the ship to have some alone time.
From below, the D-Team were discussing their strategy for the mission. "OK, these guys seem to do nothing but argue." Max reviewed what they knew form the conversations they overheard. "We should be able to fight them without even sending anyone to full-size."
"That seems like a gamble." Zoe pointed out.
"I don't think even I would be able to fight and not cause the ship to sink with my weight." Ace said. "And I'm the lightest out of all of us here."
"Maybe it can support at least one of us." Chomp thought aloud. "We could use Paris to have the Pteranodons fly around and see if they could spot the dinosaur from the sky."
"That's too much gambling for my liking." Rex said, still being one who hated to gamble in anything.
"So we're basically forced to wait for this boat to land on an island full of rocks and hope it both doesn't sink and the dinosaur is there." Tank groaned and she slumped to the floor.
Spiny saw his girlfriend was distraught and slumped down next to her. "Want to sing songs?" He asked. This was answered by a whack to the head. "I'll take that as a maybe."
"I brought a deck of UNO cards if anyone wants to play." Rex said as he pulled out the deck from his jacket.
"Eh, got nothing better to do." Max said before glaring at Rex. "But this time I'm shuffling. I know that's why you always have wild cards in your deck." Rex blushed and scratched the back of his head in shame as Max took the deck and shuffled them, never taking his eyes off the blonde.
DK
About an hour later, Blackbeard was standing in front of his ship's radar, which was located in a large glass bubble in the middle of the room. Even though it looked like they lacked 21st century technology, they weren't stupid enough to sail across the ocean blindly. Especially after they had a head-on collision with a whale that looked like it had another head-on collision with a ship recently. The whale basically destroyed the front of the ship and it cost many lives to fix it. Yes, you read that correctly.
He looked at the purple triangle that was supposed to represent their ship. Darker, larger shapes that were appearing and disappearing from view indicated the islands that surrounded the ship. He was keeping his eyes peeled to make sure the ship was staying in deep water so they wouldn't scrape across the bottom of the ocean. Another unfortunate accident they suffered that took many lives to fix.
As he observed their position, he noticed something come up on the radar that looked unfamiliar. The yellow color indicated it was some kind of large animal, but the shape did not match that of a whale. At least not a normal one. Squinting hard, he also saw that this 'whale' was joined by five smaller creatures. "Jeez, somebody's had a rough time." He said, referring to the 'whale's' lack of a fluke. "Just make sure you stay away from my boat or your tail won't be the only thing missing!" He yelled at the image, grabbing the glass surrounding the radar.
As Blackbeard was about to leave to do something else, he heard someone yell from below him. "Oh, come on!" Max shouted in frustration. "How do you have three wild cards and a draw four?!"
The culprit, Paris, shrunk down and pawed the floor with her foot, a blush turning her face pink. "I guess I'm just lucky." She said quietly. She was trying to sound sorry for the brunette, but it wasn't too hard to tell she was feeling smug about all this.
"I told you it wasn't me." Rex huffed and looked away. "Those cards have a mind of their own."
"And I guess their mindset is 'not let Max win ever'." Terry joked. This earned giggles from all the other players.
Blackbeard didn't hear this whole conversation, but he knew that there was somebody down there. Somebody that wasn't welcome on his ship. "Huh." He said as he crossed his arms. "I guess Copper was right for once. I could apologize for doubting him, but that would hurt his confidence." He called for his parrot. "Rodger!"
Steve woke up from his nap on the crows nest and flew down to Blackbeard's cabin through a window. "Awwk! My name is Steve."
"I know your name."
"Debatable." The parrot rolled his eyes. "What'd ya want?"
"We seem to have some stowaways below deck. Get the other men and bring them to me." Blackbeard instructed his parrot.
"Awwk! Aye-aye, Captain! Awwk!" Steve squawked as he flew out of the cabin to do the deed.
Down below, Chomp was sweating like crazy despite it being impossible as Tank played a draw two card. "Damn it! Why do you always have a counter for all of my cards!" He yelled at her.
"It's because you're not only chewing your cards, you're chewing them face up." She pointed at the cards in the Triceratops' mouth.
Chomp looked down, noticed she was right, and spit them out. "Pwat! How much longer are we going to play this game? It's feeling more like a chore then fun at this point."
"Eh, that's pretty much our lives in a nutshell." Someone said from the dark.
The entire team froze when they heard that. "Who's there?" Max demanded as he grabbed his Dino Holder. But before he could use it, Steve swooped in a grabbed it with his talons. "Hey! Give that back!"
Rex and Zoe tried to do the same, but Steve just repeated what he did before with Max and grabbed their Dino Holders. The parrot perched on Copper's shoulders as the men began to surround the kids and dinosaurs. "Let's take these kids and their pets to the boss." Copper said, actually coming off as threatening.
All the men pulled out their swords, except for Copper who pulled out a gun, and pointed their weapons at the D-Team. The team huddled together with their backs to each other. "So, Max, what's your genius plan this time?" Zoe glared at the brunette.
"Why are you blaming me for this?" Max retorted as they were carried to the bridge.
"You know, I was totally calling it that I was going to be the one who ruined everything." Spiny said.
DK
The D-Team was taken to the top deck and dropped in front of Blackbeard. The pirate captain looked at the trio of kids with a merciless grin, stroking his sword like it was a cat. Which is something no one should try in real-life. "So, you're the rats that decided to sneak aboard my ship. Too bad for you trespassing's a crime."
"Look, Captain." Max tried to reason with him. "We didn't mean to sneak onto your ship."
"Oh yeah, sure you didn't." Blackbeard replied sarcastically with a roll of his eyes. "You just accident boarded onto my obvious pirate ship through manners that are not normal for anyone that wasn't trying to sneak in."
"He's gotcha there, Max." Rex said.
"Thanks, Your Majesty." Max said through his teeth.
Zoe rolled her eyes at the boy's attitude and tried to save their lives herself. "Look, Captain Blackbeard, if that's your real name."
"It's actually Blackbeard II." Steve corrected.
"Whatever." Zoe waved him off. "We did sneak onto your ship on purpose. But we swear we weren't doing it to steal anything."
"Steal what? A bunch of empty boxes?" Steve joked, earning a slight chuckle form the rest of the crew that ended once Blackbeard glared at them.
"Shut up, Ralph."
"Steve."
"Seriously, sir, we wanted no trouble when we snuck onto your ship." Rex took over with the explaining. "But it was the only way for us to travel the Caribbean Sea fast enough."
"Fast enough for what?" Blackbeard asked, his interest getting peaked. Perhaps these kids might be on the run from the law or after some hidden treasure. Either way, it would make them useful cannon fodder.
"Fast enough to find the dinosaur before the Alpha Gang does!" Max said.
The pirates just stared at them in silence, only the waves crashing against the ship making noise, before they all broke out into laughter. "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"
"A dinosaur?!" Blackbeard said through laughs. "In the middle of the ocean?! Ahahahaha! You kids are even stupider then these meatheads!"
The D-Team was confused by this. Did these people not know who they were? "Do you not know who we are?" Max asked them. "We're the D-Team."
"And I'm Steve. But does anyone care? No."
"Do you really take me for a fool?" Blackbeard glared the brunette. "There's no dinosaur in these waters. There're only sharks everywhere. Which I'm sure would love to meet you personally."
At that cue, the men started slowly approaching the team, wicked smiles on their faces, with the intent of grabbing them and tossing them into the water. Without their Dino Holders, the D-Team's options were limited. They all knew that they didn't stand much of a chance against six fully-grown men who clearly weren't slacking on their exercise. Thankfully, they had one member who didn't care about the odds. "If you think of even trying to toss us overboard, I will shove each and every one of you into a shark's mouth myself!" Tank threatened as she got into a pouncing position, looking straight at Blackbeard.
The other pirates were taken aback by Tank's sudden outburst, believing the Saichania was a strange looking dog. Blackbeard, however, was having a different reaction. One that was a lot more traumatic. "Th-that voice!" He shook in his boots as he examined Tank more closely. "Purple, spikes, club tail, threatening." "Aah! It's you again!" He screamed at the Saichania.
This confused everyone, especially Tank. "I'm sorry. Do I know you?" She asked as she tilted her head, examining the captain more closely but coming up with nothing.
"Oh, don't you try and play that game with me, missy!" Blackbeard said as he slightly backed away from the mini Saichania. "I know you remember what you did to me in India! Don't think shrinking yourself would make me forget!"
"India?" Tank related in confusion. "What does India have to do with..." She paused as she remembered her little rampage after Rex was shot by Rasheed.
The man was cut off when Tank slammed her tail onto the table behind her, making it sawdust. "Did that help your memory?" She asked the man. The man not said nothing in response, clearly shaken up by the whole thing. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration, or are you finished?"
"Uhh, uhh." The man stuttered.
"What's the matter?" Tank rhetorically asked. "Oh, you were finished. So you don't know who the bastard is, and you were giving me a funny answer." She started closing in on the man, slowly raising her tail.
"What?" The man asked, having trouble processing Tank's words.
The Saichania responded to this by tackling him and placing a foot gently on his chest. "English, motherfucker, do you speak it!"
"Yes!" The man screamed.
"Then tell me what you know about the assassin! What does he look like?!" She asked again, clearly having lost her patience.
"H-he-he-he's male. He's part of the palace staff." The man stuttered.
"Does he look like a bitch?"
"What?" The man asked before Tank stepped on his arm and broke it. "Aaah!"
"Does he look like a bitch?!"
"I don't know!" The man cried. "We've only heard the rumors!"
"So you were playing with me?" Tank moved her foot back to his chest.
"No!" The man begged. "Go to the pier! That's where he should be trying to escape!"
But Tank wasn't satisfied with that answer. "I'm giving you one last chance, one last chance, buddy, to tell me what you know! Who is the bitch who shot Rex?!"
Once the flashback ended, Tank realized that the man she tortured looked exactly like the one in front of her. "Ooh, you're that one."
"'That one'?!" Blackbeard repeated, his entire body tensing with anger. "You crushed my arm! They had to pump it like a car tire to keep it from needing to be amputated!"
"Count your blessings that you didn't lose it." Tank countered, not really caring about this argument.
Blackbeard pulled up the sleeve of the arm Tank crushed to show his arm was still red from the incident. "I still have the impression!"
"If you want me to crush the other arm so they match, you can just say so." She joked.
Now Blackbeard was getting angry. The others saw this and tried to put out the figurative fire. "Tank, why didn't you tell me you tortured someone for information?" Rex asked.
Normally Tank would feel guilty for hiding information from her friend and king, but the current situation kind of prevented that. "One: I was dealing with so many emotions at the time I wasn't thinking straight. Two: I didn't kill him so it didn't seem like a big deal."
"Do you have any idea how expensive the bills were?!" Blackbeard screamed at her.
"Lastly: he tired to scam me, so he was asking for it." Tank finished as she hopped from where she was with the others to the perch in front of Blackbeard, looking the pirate dead in the eye. "So, are you going to let us ride in peace? Or do I have to do something to you so bad that I won't say it out loud to protect the other's innocence?"
Just the thought of something worse than crushing his arm made all the blood in the pirate's body fall as low as possible. He was getting some ideas what she was referring to. And it wasn't good considering she could do it with her smaller size. "N-n-now, let's not get hasty!" He waved his hands as sweat fell off like crazy. "W-we would help you find the dinosaur, which is totally in these waters, but we have no idea where to look."
"We could always check the radar." Copper suggested before quickly clamping his mouth shut when he realized his mistake.
While the rest of the crew glared at the first mate for his failure, the D-Team were surprised. "You guys have a radar?" Max asked, still not believing it.
Seeing they were basically stuck with them now, Blackbeard sighed in defeat. "What are we in; the 1700s? There's a radar in my cabin." He placed his face in the palms his hands. "Copper, give the kids their toys back and show them."
Copper was about to say something, but Steve held out a wing to stop him. "He meant me." He grumbled as he flew to the kids and dropped the Dino Holders in their hands. "Follow me." The parrot instructed as he flew to the captain's quarters.
As the D-Team followed, Rex took a quick stop in front of Blackbeard. "I'm sorry for whatever Tank did to you." He apologized with a bow, trying to ease the tension.
"Fuck off." Blackbeard grumbled from his hands.
DK
Once in the cabin, the team were amazed by the size of the ship's radar. "This is one impressive radar." Ace said as he inspected the contraption from Rex's arms.
"Thank you." Steve said proudly. "Believe it or not, I'm actually the closet thing to an engineer on this ship. Which includes working the radar."
"You actually work this thing?" Zoe asked.
"Yep." The parrot confirmed as he hopped onto the glass to get a better view of their location. "If my memory serves correctly, I recall seeing an unfamiliar silhouette in the water heading the opposite direction of the ship when the captain called me in to capture you. I'd bet on his life that was the dinosaur."
"Then we'll have to turn the ship around and hope our guesses are right." Rex said.
"Maybe." Steve partially agreed. "Still, this area is known for its storms around this time of year. And big ones too. It would be dangerous to sail through one of those."
"You have a point there." Max said in agreement. "But still, there's a dinosaur out there and we need to find it. Whatever the Alpha Gang will do it if they get it First is way worse than any storm."
"Max is right. It's our responsibility to make sure we can save as many dinosaurs as possible from the Alpha Gang's plans." Rex added.
The parrot sighed and shook his head. "'Sigh'. You kids are just as reckless as Blackbeard."
"That reminds me: why does he call himself Blackbeard II?" Terry asked. "I didn't know he had a relative still alive."
"I'm surprised you know that much about him." Chomp commented. "Didn't take you for a history type of guy."
"What? I can have hobbies." Terry said with a small blush on his face.
"Ehhhh." Steve said as he moved his wing with uncertainty. "It's hard to tell exactly where he is on the tree, but I do know he is a descendant of the Blackbeard from history. He feels that his ancestor was incompetent or something for how he met his end, so he's trying to one up him. He's already slaughtered countless towns and villages to get his recruits. Most of them never made it past the first week."
The D-Team gasped. This guy was almost as bad as Seth. At least until Steve added. "They had a week to bail out or be sticking with serving for life. Everyone you see here either is just as much of a jerk as him. There is the exception of Copper, who joined because Blackbeard said he'd spare his home if he joined him right before firing canons onto the population. Thank god it was Monday or those houses would have been full."
"And how did you get involved in this?" Paris asked. "You don't seem to be that mean."
"He bought me from a pet store." The parrot responded, clearing starting to get impatient. "Awwk! No more exposition! Go to the deck and check the water so we can find that dinosaur before we all die in a storm!" He said as he flew out to change the ship's corse.
Once he was gone, Paris said. "I take it back. The bird's a jerk."
DK
With the ship going back the way it came, majority of the D-Team looked for signs of the dinosaur from the deck while Rex and Ace stayed by the radar. "Think the dinosaur will be a big one?" Chomp asked as he and the other dinos sat or laid on the deck and watched the water.
"Bigger than Brontikens I bet." Terry said, his tail wagging like a dogs. "Now that would be a challenge."
"Easy there, tiger." Tank said, putting a foot on the Tyrannosaur's shaking tail. "If I remember correctly, the last time you fought in deep water you- oh, right. You've never done that before." She empathized the last sentence.
Terry growled at her before Chomp spoke up. "She's got a point there, Bro. The last time you tried to fight in deep water you couldn't float and were flailing in the waterhole even more then Ace does." He chuckled at that last part. In the cabin, Ace unexpectedly sneezed.
Angry at the joke, Terry presses his shout against Chomp's "What're you implying?"
"We saying that the chances of it being in the ocean are pretty much guaranteed. And most of us can't fight in such deep water." Tank explained. "Once again, our hope for success lies in Spiny."
"Oooh! I love Spiny!" Spiny said enthusiastically. "He's so awesome!"
"Honey, you are Spiny." Tank whispered into his ear.
"Really?" Spiny said in surprise. "I don't like him anymore." He then slumped onto the floor like a blob of goo.
The others looked at the Spinosaurus in confusion. Tank made motions with her front left foot that told them. 'I'll take care of this. Leave us alone.' Taking her hint, the others ushered themselves away, leaving the herbivore-carnivore couple alone. "All right, Spiny, let's talk." She sighed.
"Well, I think that in terms of who's gonna make it to the next round that the-"
"I meant about what you just said!" Tank yelled at him as she whacked his head with her tail again. "And I don't mean about the Super Bowl. I'm talking about your lack of confidence."
"Lack of confidence?" Spiny repeated in confusion.
"The second I said you'd be the one to fight the dinosaur you got all depressed." The Saichania reminded him of what just happened. "I thought you'd be happy to have a chance at a new dinosaur again."
"And when was the last time I fought a new dinosaur?" Spiny asked, his tone getting serious. "I don't even remember, but I'm pretty sure it was Sushi and that's it. Every other time is either against the Alpha Gang or I got my ass kicked."
"You do well against the Alpha Gang."
"They suck. Everyone knows that. I might as well have joined them and nothing would've changed."
This earned him another whack on the head from Tank. "Stop being suck a big baby! I've been watching you fight Guru. Sure, you may not have beaten him, but you've been able to put up a fight against one of our strongest."
"I have, haven't I." Spiny said as he recalled his many battles with Guru. While they weren't victories, they weren't instant defeats. "And I beat up Brontikens that one time."
"Exactly." Tank nodded. "So what are you going to do when we find the new dinosaur?"
"I'm gonna rip his head off and mount it over my fireplace!" Spiny declared.
"That's... close enough." Tank sighed.
From afar, Zoe overheard the entire conversation. She couldn't help but feel partially responsible for Spiny's lack of self confidence. "Something bugging you, Zoe?" Max asked her.
"Max, answer me honestly. Do you think I've been fair to Spiny?" She asked him back. "Whenever there's a new dinosaur I either don't use him or he loses quickly."
"Well, Secret Dinosaurs and Killer aren't exactly easy opponents." The brunette pointed out. "Even I struggled against them."
"That's not the point. It made me realize that I've never really payed attention to him at all." She said, looking like she was about to cry. "I always have my attention on Paris and fail to remember I have another dinosaur partner."
Seeing she was distraught by this, Max gently patted her shoulder. "Look, I'm not gonna lie, you do spend more time with Paris than Spiny. And that's OK. We say we don't pick favorites, but that's just a lie to make people feel better. I personally feel more attached to Terry than Chomp."
"And does Chomp know this?" Zoe asked as she looked at his face.
Max shrugged. "We never talked about it, but I'm pretty sure he can tell. And Rex seems more attached to Ace than Tank. It's not a crime to prefer one partner over the other. That's just life."
"But you guys still give the other attention. I don't even know when was the last time I had a solid conversation with Spiny."
"...What's stopping you from starting?"
There was silence on the deck, with the exception of pirates doing their work, for about a half-hour when clouds started to cover the sky and the wind was picking up. Those who've been on the sea for a while knew what that meant. A storm was approaching. "Take in the sails!" Copper ordered the men as it started to drizzle. "Batten down the hatches!"
Blackbeard suddenly appeared from behind and kicked the first mate to the floor. "This is my ship! I'm the one giving orders here!" He yelled at Copper before turning to the rest of his crew. "Everyone, do what he said."
"Wait!" Everyone turned to where the captain's quarters were and saw Rex and Ace running towards them. "We need to keep going!" The blonde told them. "The dinosaur's still ahead of us, but we can catch up if we keep going!"
"Awwk! Are you insane?!" Steve squawked at him. "We'll all get killed!"
"Listen!" Ace yelled back at the parrot with a snap of his jaws. "The dinosaur will either try and find shelter for the storm somewhere, or possibly try to brave through it."
"Excuse me?!" Blackbeard yelled, pushing Steve out of the way.
"Awwk!"
"Are you saying that oversized lizard thinks it can brave this storm?!" The captain looked the Dinosaur King dead in the eye.
"That's possible depending on their personality." Rex answered, only slightly creeped out by Blackbeard's lack of boundaries. "I know quite a few dinosaurs that wouldn't be intimidated by a tropical storm."
The others all glared at the blonde king and his Carnotaurus while Blackbeard, who looked like he was glaring, was filled with rage. Not at Rex, but at the dinosaur in the ocean. "That walking pile of bones thinks he's a better sailor than Blackbeard II?! I'll show him! Unfurl the sails! No Jurassic meat-shack's gonna make me look like a coward!"
As he walked off, Steve flew up to Rex's face and glared at him. "When we die, I'm making sure you're going to hell with me."
"Quit being such a baby, Jeffery!" Blackbeard shouted at the parrot, walking up to the ship's steering wheel. "You really think I'm stupid enough to sail through a tropic storm without protection?" With the tap of his foot, a little device with two buttons emerged from the deck. "Try this on, you cowardly clouds!" He yelled before he pressed one of the buttons.
There was some kind of sound coming from the back of the ship as two giant engines emerged from the rear. "Are those engines?!" Chomp exclaimed as he saw them appear with the other D-Team members.
"Engines?" Blackbeard said in confusion before realizing his mistake. "Ohhh, it's the other button that's the shield."
"I told you to label them! Awwk!" Steve squawked angrily, tying himself to the ship with as much rope as he could.
"Wait, why are you tying yourself up?" Max asked nervously. Slowly putting the picture together and not liking it.
"Because this ship's about to go maximum overdrive!" Copper screamed as he mimicked the parrot.
"What?!" Everyone screamed. Except Spiny, who just said. "I did that joke first."
Like a rocket strapped to a car, the ship's speed accelerated to a ludicrous speed. "Waah!" Anyone who hadn't tied themselves to the ship held onto whatever they could for dear life. Most of them had to use the deck to keep themselves from flying off, which gave them painful splinters.
Max and Blackbeard were both holding onto the steering wheel. "Are you crazy!?" Max yelled at Blackbeard. "Why do you have engines that go at turbo speed!?"
"It makes sense when you buy it!" Blackbeard retorted. "Like you'd have any better ideas!"
"Stop arguing and stop the engines already!" Terry screamed as his teeth dragged across the deck floor very slowly.
"Awwk! No one knows how! We normally are forced to ride it out!" Steve informed the D-Team.
"Ride it out?!" The D-Team repeated. "There's no way we can survive riding this out!" Rex yelled at the parrot.
"Like your plan was any better!" Steve countered.
"Guys, we don't have time for fighting!" Chomp interrupted, feeling his grip on Paris' tail loosening. "Maybe if we're summoned to full-size on the deck it could weight the ship down!"
"That might work!" Ace agreed.
"Yeah! In sinking the whole ship and drowning the lot of us!" The lookout replied sarcastically.
"It may be our only chance of survival!" Max said as he tried to reach for his Dino Holder, hoping he could bring out Chomp and Terry to full-size before the wind blew him out to sea.
But just as he was about to reach, the engines began to make noises that indicated failure. The ship's speed began to slow down until it came to a near complete stop. Everyone landed on the deck with the wind no longer lifting them off their feet. "Add boats to the list of transportation I'll never use again." Rex groaned.
"Same here. Umgh!" Zoe agreed, trying to hold back her motion sickness.
"What even happened?" Paris asked as she slowly let go of the pole she was holding onto.
"Like I told you, it ran its course. Awwk!" Steve answered, having freed himself from the ropes and working on Copper.
"Ugh." Max groaned as he and Blackbeard got onto their feet. "You're even crazier than Dr.Z." He told the captain.
"I don't know who that is, but I'll take it as a compliment." Blackbeard said smuggly. Instead of praise he would hear from his crew, he instead heard everyone gasping in horror. "What?" He lifted his right hand and saw that the steering wheel had become detached after all the chaos. "Oh, poop."
"Great, now we're, awwk, stuck here." Steve squawked.
"So now the only way to find the dinosaur would be we'd have to wait for it to show up if it's in the area." Ace said to the rest.
"We could always try the summoning ritual." Spiny suggested.
"What summoning ritual?" Tank asked.
As those below chatted, the lookout did his job of looking out for trouble. The rain continued to fall, heavier than before, and waves were rocking the ship. However, there was something that caught his eye. A patch of bubbles that appeared not long after the ship stopped. Upon a closer inspection, it almost looked like they were moving towards the ship, and increasing in numbers. And with a dinosaur in the sea, that only meant one thing. "Captain!" The lookout shouted below.
"Yeah?"
"Look!"
Everyone looked over the side to see the bubbles right below them. That's when it happened. The water erupted and the Jobaria's head emerged. "Oh, fuck!" Blackbeard screamed at the size of the dinosaur.
"Jobaria!" Rex identified.
The sauropod looked down angrily at the people he could only assume were the ones who brought this large raft into his new territory. He readied his head and swung it downwards at the people. "No! No! No! No! No!" Blackbeard screamed as they leapt out of the way in time to avoid ending up like the part of the ship the Jobaria smashed.
"Now that's a battering ram!" Max tried to joke, but didn't change the seriousness of the situation.
"No! We have so much shit!" Blackbeard continued screaming as the Jobaria hit the ship with his tail. "Holy fucking shit! Connor, get down here!"
"My name's Steve!"
Seeing smashing with his head and tail wasn't working as well as he hoped in getting the intruders to retreat, the Jobaria decided to try a different tactic. He dove beneath the water and swam to the bottom of the boat with all the speed and might he could muster, colliding with it and almost lifting the boat out of the water.
Everyone tried to grip onto whatever they could as the ship was tilted by the angle the Jobaria struck it from. Unfortunately for him, Ace couldn't grab anything and fell into the water. "Ace!" Rex cried out as the ship rightened itself.
Once he landed in the water, the Carnotaurus opened his eyes to a horrifying sight. Sharks everywhere, possibly waiting to someone to fall in so they can feed. Ace's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he screamed in terror and basically flew back onto the ship, holding onto the crows nest for dear life. "S-s-sharks!" He informed them while screaming.
The situation the D-Team was in was anything but good. An angry dinosaur attacking their ship, sharks surrounding them like vultures, a fierce storm, and no way of controlling the ship. Everyone was running around, trying to find a way to get the ship out of there. Everyone that is except for Spiny. Zoe ran past him and saw the Spinosaurus just staring into space. "Spiny, what are you doing?!" She called out to him just as she saw the Jobaria swimming towards them in another attempt to smash the ship.
"I now know what I have to do." Spiny replied. "My people need a hero." With that he leapt into the water.
Seeing Spiny leap into danger was what it took to snap Zoe out of her panicked state and back to her old confident self. "Oh, yeah! It's go time!"
"DINO SLASH! GUSH OUT, SPINOSAURUS!"
Once Spiny landed in the water full-sized, the storm disappeared and was replaced by the colors of a Battlefield. Spiny roared at his opponent, which made the Jobaria stop his charge. The two titans circled each other in the water, sizing the other one up. The Jobaria has fought many opponents on his many adventures, but none this large. It wasn't only the size that was an issue, he could also tell that the Spinosaurus had experience with these types of battles. This wasn't a battle he could fight alone.
With a blue glow and a roar, he called on his pupils for help. From the depths, five dolphin-like creatures leapt into the air like...well, dolphins. They were mostly a dark cyan with a white stripe on the side and from behind the eye to snout. There was a darker blue stripe from the eye to the snout. Even though they looked like dolphins, they had two smaller flippers near the tail. Finally, they all had huge yellow eyes. "Those are Ophthalmosaurus!" Max identified.
The Ophthalmosaurs circled Spiny like a school of sharks. The actual sharks, thinking the marine reptiles were dolphins, turned tail and swam away. "You guys wanna play?" Spiny asked them as they continued circling him. The quints then broke off and began leaping right at him. "Whoa!" Spiny dodged their first attacks, but they kept on coming and were now landing blows. "They're hitting me aggressively!"
"It's a fight, you dumbass!" Tank scolded him from the ship.
"But they're so cute! Why do I have to hurt them!?" Spiny whined as the supposed leader struck him with enough force to make him roll like a log in the water.
If the Ophthalmosaurus kept attacking like this, it would leave Spiny vulnerable to attacks from the Jobaria. And Zoe knew this. "Spiny can't fight them all by himself!" As the Ophthalmosaurs leapt at Spiny all together, the pinkette called out to him. "Hang on, Spiny! Help's coming!" She ejected a Move Card from her Dino Holder, caught it in her hand, and swiped it. "Futaba Super Cannon!"
Futaba appeared and immediately charged up a Super Cannon that caught the quints. The plesiosaur swung his head and dropped the quints in the water. "Hey, Futaba!" Spiny greeted his battle partner.
"Hello, Spiny." Futaba greeted back. "It has been some time since we have last spoken to each other."
"I'll say. You're talking all proper now."
"My English lessons have been paying off." Futaba responded before diving into the water after the Ophthalmosaurs.
"That's would've been interesting to see." Spiny said to himself as he and the Jobaria rushed towards each other.
Beneath the surface, Futaba was mostly avoiding the quint's attacks since he couldn't keep up with them due to their stream-like bodies. This was actually a lot easier than he first thought as they didn't seem to have much practice on coordination. Above the surface, Spiny and the Jobaria clashed with each other. Spiny smacked the Jobaria's face with his tail. The Jobaria would counter by charged straight towards Spiny and struck him in the chest.
With the sauropod so close to him, the Spinosaurus countered this attack by biting his neck and dragging the Jobaria underwater with himself, rolling like a log again. The Jobaria would force Spiny to let go of his neck and try and slam him back into the water with it. But Spiny countered this with his own neck and the two were in a struggle. "Get him, Spiny!" Paris cheered as the others all watched the battle in the ocean.
"Dum, da, da, dum, dum! Da, dum! Dum, da, da, dum, dum! Da, dum!" Chomp apparently sang.
"What was that?" Ace asked.
"Appropriate music for the scene." Chomp replied. "It's what Spiny would've done."
"He's right!" Spiny responded as he separated from the Jobaria. The sauropod glowed blue again as a whirlpool of water surrounded him this time. Zoe acted quickly and swiped another Move Card to counter. "Shockwave, huh? Then I'll use Water Sword!" As the tendrils fired, Spiny's mouth formed a large sword of water and countered the attack, creating an odd looking whirlwind.
Just as it seemed he would try an offensive attack, the Jobaria glowed blue again and formed another whirlpool. "No fair! I wanted to show you much Shockwave!" Spiny pouted before he started glowing, curtesy of Zoe. "Oh, right. I still can." The two Shockwaves fired and collided like last time. This time creating a large whirlpool above the water.
"Amazing." Rex said, who couldn't help but take a picture of the bizarre sight.
When the water settled down, the Jobaria had vanished. Before anyone could asked where he went, he appeared behind Spiny and pushed him into the water with his front feet. "Spiny!" They all called out to him. Spiny roared in pain from the impact, and no doubt got tons of sea water in his mouth in the process.
Meanwhile, Futaba was mainly stuck playing a game of tag with the Ophthalmosaurus quints. Only instead of one person being it, it was five. As the tired Futabasaurus desperately looked for a way to escape, he saw his partner just be pushed below the surface. "Spiny!" He called out as he raced towards his partner.
"Hey, Futaba." Spiny said. "How're you doing?"
"I cannot seem to find an opening with the Ophthalmosaurs. Every time one attacks, another follows a second later."
"Hey, that sounds like what the Jobaria did. Only he more used a distraction so he could sneak up behind me."
"We need a plan to defeat them all or we are going to become too tired to continue fighting." Futaba said, just as the Ophthalmosaurus started to circle them like Uranus' rings. "Preferably one that would allow me to help you without any distracting assistance from our adversary."
Spiny just stared at the Futabasaurus in confusion. "How did you get from having to speak broken English to sounding almost like a genius?"
"Now is not the time to exposit."
"Right. We need to think smart." Spiny said as he closed his eyes and tried to think of something. First thing that came to mind was a bowling ball. "Brain-blast!" He exclaimed. "Futaba, get the dolphin thingys near the Jobaria and I'll take care of the rest." He instructed his partner before swimming up to the surface to inform Zoe of her part in the plan.
The Ophthalmosaurus tried to stop him, but Futaba rammed into them and allowed his summoner to escape. "Let us dance!" Futaba taunted them as he swam around them like how they were just doing with them before swimming away. The quints immediately followed suit and chased after him.
The Futabasaurus continued this until he was right below the Jobaria. He then changed tactic and swam upwards with all the speed he could muster, the Ophthalmosaurus still following. Suddenly, he emerged in front of the Jobaria and continued on jumping. The Opthalmosaurus still followed him, surprising and confusing the Jobaria. The quints continued on following Futaba until they had no jump left, for they hadn't prepared like Futaba for such a high leap.
Everything was literally falling into place. "Okay, Spiny, let's finish them off! Ultimate Water!" Spiny roared as geysers erupted and a huge tidal wave appeared from behind him. Futaba saw this and positioned himself to miss Spiny's attack.
Spiny plowed through the Ophthalmosaurus quints like they were bowling pins before striking the Jobaria dead center, with two of the Ophthalmosaurus on his head no less. The sauropod was knocked down to the ground that appeared with as part of the Move while the Opthalmosaurus all flopped like fish on dry land. Enough was enough, and they all returned to their cards.
Zoe quickly grabbed their grabbling device and grabbed the Jobaria card and Move Cards. "All right!" She cheered as she grabbed them. "I just got three more cards!" Spiny and Futaba swam towards the ship. "You did it, Spiny!" She hugged the Spinosaur's snout. "We couldn't have done it without you!"
"I couldn't have done it without you or Futaba." Spiny said in reply.
"It was my pleasure to assist in any way I could." Futaba said with a blush as Zoe kissed him on the snout before recalling him and Spiny.
"Well, all's well that ends well." Max said in relief.
"Yes." Blackbeard agreed. "Now get the hell off my ship and never come back!" He yelled at them.
"Uhh." Tank said as she looked over the side. "Are you sure about that?"
"You have your damn dinosaur! Now leave me alone, you purple demon!" The captain yelled, throwing the steering wheel at her and missing.
"Suit yourself." Tank sighed in defeat as she walked over to Rex as the kids prepared to teleport back. "Sorry about your ship." She said before they vanished.
Blackbeard stared at where the kids and dinosaurs previously stood in confusion. And not by them teleporting away. "What does that salamander think she's talking about?" He got his answer when the ship went over an ocean waterfall. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" The entire crew screamed as the ship crashed below, completely destroying it.
"Idiot." Steve sighed as he flew down below. The chances they survived were pretty much guaranteed.
DK
Once they returned home, Spiny and Tank relaxed on the sanctuary's beach with Graybeard the Jobaria. "So, Spiny, how does victory feel after all this time?" Tank asked without moving her head or opening her eyes.
"Feels amazing." Spiny replied, almost staying still.
"Think you can defeat Guru now?"
"Eventually." Spiny replied. "I'll probably need some more practice first."
"Well, if you need any one to spar with, I'd be glad to show you the tricks I've picked up on me adventures with the quints." Graybeard said.
"Thanks, buddy." Spiny said.
"How do you know Flipper and the other four, anyway?" Tank asked.
Graybeard sighed at the memory as he watched them play in the water with Futaba. "Met them as wee' ones on one of me adventures. Took them under me wing, and taught them almost everything they know." He turned to look at Spiny. "Maybe you can teach them some of your techniques."
"I have techniques? All I did was just try to find a way to defeat you." Spiny said in confusion.
"And that's the art of battle." Tank sighed happily.
Next time on Dinosaur King:
Spinoberg: Which ever dinosaur shows the best talent will appear in my new movie! Show me what you got!
Bali: 'Clears throat' AnD iIiIiIiIiI wIlL aLwAyS lOvE yOu!
(Spinoberg and employee, look messed up, stare at Bali from his horrific singing)
Bali: Was that too much?
A/N: After another month of doing nothing productive, I finally get this chapter out.
I really had fun writing for this one. The pirates, comedy, the battle, it was a blast. Even if the upload date says otherwise. It also helped me develop Spiny and Zoe's relationship. Something that definitely needed addressing. As well as allowing our favorite Spinosaurus time to be awesome.
Onto Blackbeard, he and his buddies are not going to be major enemies of the D-Team. Really more neutral characters who just work for the highest bidder. Or whoever threatens them in Tank's case. As for why I named the parrot Steve...I wanted a funny name for him since he doesn't have one.
On the topic of my latest poll. 5 say they'll a season 2.5 guaranteed while 4 say maybe. So, unless complications come up, I will deliver. I'll give more details on this in the future when I don't have to worry about spoilers.
