'Before I knew it, I spent an entire week at the most prominent Agency in the country.'

A man carrying a briefcase exited a store, but then suddenly, a guy in a mask ran past him and grabbed the briefcase.

"That thief took my back! Someone call a hero!"

Hiccup and the others were nearby and heard the commotion, and they quickly rushed towards the scene.

'In the world of pros, the slightest actions can make the difference between life and death. With that in mind, we're trying to follow Hellfire's instructions.'

The thief saw them, but suddenly jumping over them at blinding speed was Hellfire, who dealt him a powerful blow in the chest. The thief collapsed, dropping the briefcase and Hiccup, and the others stopped in their tracks.

"We were the ones who responded first this time," said Ranger.

"Damnit, how did he beat us here again?" Snotlout grumbled.

'He really is amazing,' Hiccup admitted as he watched Hellfire handing the briefcase back to its owner. 'He always seems to pull ahead of us in the last second.'

"You should be careful if you're still using cash these days," Hellfire advised.

"Yes, sir!"

"Hellfire, we got a hit-and-run in area 23!" said a voice on the radio.

"Got it, be right there," said Hellfire and took off in a split second.

"Crap!" Snotlout cursed as he launched himself into the air.

"Let's go," said Ranger.

They followed Hellfire, but by the time they got there, he had already apprehended the villain and given him to the police.

"Incredible work," said an officer.

"I'll leave it to you," said Hellfire and turned to Hiccup and the others as they stood there panting. "Let's stop here for today. You should return to your rooms and get some sleep."

"I'm not done fighting!" Snotlout yelled.

"Calm down, Snotlout," said Hiccup.

"What about you, sir? You're not coming back with us?" Ranger asked.

"I'll head in after that all this over," said Hellfire. "We have an early day tomorrow, don't start out fatigued."

He then walked away, leaving them behind.

'I know I can't raise to his level right away, so I'll just keep doing my best,' said Hiccup as he clenched his fists. 'Little by little, one step at a time.'

"An impressive job is always, Hellfire," said Burnin, saluting.

"I'm going to rest for a while," said Hellfire as he made his way to his office. "Summon me if anything comes up."

"Yes, sir!"

Hellfire looked at the book that Hawks had given him and remembered the warning he had given him.

He then heard the phone on his desk ring, and when he answered it, it was Adelaide on the other side.

"Oh, hey, Dad," she said. "How are you? I heard you working with Snotlout these days."

"Yes, Adelaide."

"And his friends are there too?"

"I wouldn't call them friends, especially since one of them is Hiccup."

"Hiccup? Why didn't you tell me? That's pretty shocking. Anyway, school is starting back soon, so it will be harder to get people together, and since tomorrow is Saturday, I was thinking that you can bring everyone over to the house for dinner. Come on, I promise you the food will be delicious."

Hellfire remained silent as he looked at his phone. 'What can I do for my family? Where do I begin? These questions keep me up at night. Recently I've been having the same dream; my wife and children look like they're having fun around the dinner table, laughing over simple things. They share moments of joy, happy to be together, but I'm never at the table. I know the reasons why and it pains me.'

He then sat down as he remembered every confrontation he had had with his family, including the most recent. He also remembered his conversation with Stoick not too long ago.

It was then suddenly, his fourth, when he heard an alarm.

"Hellfire!" Burnin yelled over the com. "It's an emergency!"

Hellfire grew out of his seat and made his way out of the office. "I'm heading to the scene! Ready all sidekicks and follow me!"

Hiccup and the others were currently staying at the private hotel for the employees of the Hellfire Agency. It was just after six in the morning, and everyone was making their way outside.

"Morning, everyone," said Hiccup.

"Morning, rookie!" said Burnin. "How's your progress going?"

"Hi, Burnin; it's going fine, thanks."

"Despite the fact we can't catch my old man," Snotlout grumbled.

"How is it then tried another villain before Hellfire?" Burnin asked. "Sorry, I know. My dad for bringing up such a delicate subject. I know he's a fast one, and you've had zero success so far."

"Good morning, everyone," said Ranger as he arrived.

"Hey, Glacier."

"We're not as far behind," said Ranger as he approached the others. "Yesterday, we almost beat him. We need to remember what that felt like and use it to fuel us. Let's make today the day we surpass Hellfire, okay?"

"I thought he was getting close! You are the one in my exhaust, which obviously means I'm above you!" Snotlout yelled.

"But Hiccup was always the one that responded first," Ranger pointed out.

"That's because Toothless monitoring everything from radio signals to security cameras; he gives me the heads up for something happens," Hiccup explained.

"Still having upon AI helps. I still have problems with pinpointed attacks."

"You're still slowly getting the hang."

"Yeah, I guess so."

"I'm talking here!" Snotlout yelled loudly.

As they talked, Burnin noticed the scuff marks on their costumes, indicating they had been working hard.

"Firing a burst of ice is quite a problem as well, huh?" Hiccup asked.

"Yes, it takes me a while to get my max output, so I can't attack quickly."

"That's because you should always be storing energy up," said Snotlout.

"That is a good idea," said Hiccup.

Burnin smiled at them. 'No need to start a fire under them, do I?'

Hellfire then arrived. "Ready? You boys are with me."

For the rest of the day, they were with Hellfire, trying to catch a villain or reach an emergency faster than him. However, Hellfire was proving to be just as fast as he was yesterday and the day before that.

"You're still too slow!" Hellfire yelled back. "Thinking! Acting! Controlling your powers! Shorten the powers needed for each of those!"

The cable holding window cleaners as they worked snapped, and Hellfire managed to catch them before Hiccup could fly up to save them.

He then rescued people from a burning car accident before Ranger could douse the flames.

"Don't lose a single second stop incidents before they happen," said Hellfire, catching pair of thieves before Snotlout could take them down. "For that, you need an observing eye. Find the evil heightening the everyday. You are just looking for people, observing everything happening around you. That's not something you can learn overnight, but the more experience you get, the more accurate you will become."

Hellfire demonstrated this by observing the busy streets of a tall building. The moment he saw something, he quickly jumped into action. He looked up and saw Hiccup and the others had followed his lead.

"Run faster! Push yourselves! Never think that you have reached your peak! Show me that you are stronger than you were yesterday. A hero should be constantly accelerating."

It was now sunset. Despite all their attempts, they still couldn't get ahead of Hellfire, and there were completely out of breath.

"All that effort, and we still didn't get ahead of him," said Hiccup as he removed his helmet.

"Damnit, he's fast," said Snotlout.

"But we are improving," Ranger pointed out. "Think about where we all started on that first day."

Hellfire stood there, remembering what Adelaide had said yesterday about bringing everyone around for dinner.

'For Adelaide,' he said. 'You help me realise so much.'

He then turned and looked at the three of them. "Follow me!"

"Yes, sir!" they said.

They followed him, and to their surprise, he had led them to his house.

"What are we doing at my place?" Snotlout asked.

"Your sister invited everyone for dinner," Spitelout explained.

"But why us?" Ranger asked. "I mean, I'm not even related."

"Because I think she wanted to meet all of us," said Hiccup. "Adelaide was always the friendly one in the family."

No sooner had they reached the front door that opened than Adelaide stood there smiling at them.

"Come on in," she said joyously. "Thank you for making time in your busy schedules to drop in for a bite." She then immediately rushed over and hugged Hiccup firmly. "Hiccup, it's great to see you. You really changed since the last time I saw you."

"And you haven't changed in the slightest, Adelaide" Hiccup smiled.

Adelaide then released him and looked at Ranger. "Hi, I'm Snotlout's older sister Adelaide."

Ranger bowed respectfully. "Pleasure to meet you; my name is Ranger."

"Oh, I know who you are," said Adelaide. "I watched you at the Thawfest Festival when you fought Hiccup."

"This is so embarrassing," Snotlout muttered angrily.

Adelaide then escorted them towards the dining room.

"Sorry about the sudden invitation; I'm still astonished that this worked out," said Adelaide.

"I'm just glad you asked is over," said Hiccup.

"What about Scold? Is he showing up?" Snotlout asked.

"Oh, he's here," Adelaide assured him. "I wanted the whole family to see your new friends."

"They aren't my friends."

They soon reached the dining room, where Scoldlout and Agatha were waiting at a table filled with food.

"Let me do the introductions again," said Adelaide. "I'm Adelaide, Snotlout's older sister; I teach in an elementary school nearby. This is Snotlout's older brother Scoldlout; he's in college."

"Hey, what's up," said Scold.

"And this is my mother, Agatha," said Adelaide gesturing to Agatha.

"It's very nice to meet you," said Agatha.

Adelaide looked at Snotlout with a firm expression. "Now, how about you introduce your friends."

"They're my classmates," said Snotlout. "You already know Hiccup, and this is Ranger."

"It's wonderful to see you, Hiccup," said Agatha. "Tell me your parents doing all right. I know your father's retirement must have been hard on him."

"He's doing great right now. He's head of security for Berk, and mum is investigating the League of Villains," said Hiccup.

Agatha smiled. "Those two were always hard workers."

Scold just sat there, giving his father a cold expression, and Hiccup could feel that there was quite a lot of tension in the room.

"Anyway, let's dig in before the food gets cold," said Adelaide, also sensing the tension. "If there's anything you don't like, please don't force yourself to eat it."

"I'm sure it will be lovely," said Hiccup.

"Thanks for the food," said Ranger.

"Yeah, same here," said Scold.

They soon began eating; there was just so much food it was difficult to know where to start.

"So, Hiccup, are you going out with anyone?" Agatha asked.

Hiccup nearly choked on the piece of steak he had just eaten. "No, still single."

"But is there a special someone in your class you have eyes for?"

Hiccup looked at her suspiciously. "He spoke with my mum, didn't you?"

"Well, she mentioned in passing that was seen a certain girl with golden blonde hair."

"You mean Astrid?" said Snotlout looking up and looking at Hiccup irritably. "Since when have the two of you been going out?"

"No, we're just friends," Hiccup assured him.

"That's more than I am," Snotlout grumbled. "What do you have that I don't?"

"Well, he's courageous, strong, an excellent leader and smart," said Ranger.

"Shut up, Ranger."

"I see that you guys still have that hate relationship," Scold noted.

"I think it's gotten better over the past few months," said Hiccup.

"We're not friends!"

"No, I mean, we're friendly rivals now rather than hostile ones."

"So, how do you guys like the food?" Adelaide asked quickly.

"It's excellent," said Ranger.

"We have an excellent cook," said Scold and then narrowed his eyes towards his father. "Though Hellfire had strict orders over Snotlout's diet."

Everyone suddenly felt the tension in the air between the two of them.

"That's true," Spitelout admitted.

"So, Snotlout, what kind of food do they serve at Berk?" Adelaide asked quickly.

Snotlout shrugged. "Cafeteria style."

Scold finished his meal and then rose to his feet. "Thanks for the meal. I showed like I said I would, but now I'm done."

He then began making his way over towards the door.

"Wait!" Adelaide pleaded.

"Scold, at least waiting until everyone else's finished," said Agatha.

"Sorry, but I just can't do this," he said, closing the door behind him.

Hiccup looked at Adelaide and could see that she was resisting the urge to cry. No doubt, her brother's sudden departure had hurt her dearly.

Ranger noticed this and leaned over to Hiccup. "What was that all?"

Hiccup forgot that Ranger had no idea about the family drama that surrounded the Jorgenson family.

"My uncle was a very demanding man, and he's always wanted to aim for the number one spot," Hiccup explained. "But I suspect that you already knew this already."

"Yeah, it is common knowledge."

"Well, what you probably don't know was that my uncle trained Snotlout vigorously day and night. He wanted him to achieve what he couldn't; he wanted him to become the number 1 hero?"

"Why didn't he direct that focus on his other children?"

"Because they don't have the combination of powers he had been looking for. He married my aunt solely to get her stockpile ability; he combined that with his flame powers it is a powerful combination. And since it was so focused on training Snotlout, he ignored the rest of his family."

"I see."

Once dinner was finished, the staff took the plates, and everyone suddenly began to leave the table. Agatha had already left along with Spitelout, and Snotlout took this opportunity to go to the bathroom, leaving Hiccup and Ranger alone with Adelaide.

"So, not the family get-together you were hoping," said Hiccup.

Adelaide sighed. "You got that right. Sometimes I do understand what Scold feels, but now is our chance to fix this."

"Your father has changed ever since he became the number one hero," Hiccup admitted. "Mum was barely at home because of her work, and Dad was always focused on his he will work. So, I can't truly say what you and the others have been going through."

Adelaide nodded. "So, has Snotlout changed since coming to Berk?"

"Well, when he first started, he fought that his powers were the best thing around, but when he saw the others in our class performing great feats with their powers, that diminished. Plus, I think he also resented how quickly I began climbing the ranks and how I got more attention than him."

"Well, you are the son of the number one hero."

"But no one knew that back then; I make sure to keep that secret until the League of Villains attacked."

"And he has started working with others; he at least proved that he can be a team player," Ranger added.

"Combat-wise, he will be an excellent hero, he just needs to work on his people skills, and those are improving. I mean, he was considerate about having us join his father's agency. Even if he doesn't become number one, I'm sure he'll become one of the best heroes in the country."

None of them knew that the rest of the family was actually eavesdropping on this conversation.

Spitelout made his way to his study and sat at the desk; he then looked at the pictures on the desk. One of them had a picture of a 12-year-old boy who resembled Snotlout, only a lot leaner.

'What can I do for my family after all this time?' he said to himself. 'Where do I begin? I've been having that dream with my wife and children, looking like they were having fun around the dinner table, but you're not there. I wish you could join Scorchlout.'

A few days earlier, the police had just released prisoner who was wearing a hoodie with white lines all over it and his trousers. He began walking through the busy streets of San Francisco but stopped when he saw a picture of Hellfire after his fight with the Red Death and smiled.
