Hey guys! Sorry no chapter as of yet! I am happy to see that people are enjoying The Jedi and The Mandalorian. This is my first, full-fledged Star Wars story (aside from the short-lived cancelled one I had earlier), and my sixth RWBY story overall. Being that this story has gained a foothold, I believe it time I gave you a behind the scene looking into RWBY: The Jedi and the Mandalorian.

My Current Status:

To get one thing out of the way, I like start off with the fact that I just finished my second semester/first year in college. I didn't really have a lot of time to write, yet managed to squeeze several chapter of Spider-Man: Mission Remnant in here and there. So expect story updates and new chapter frequently...until I'm busy once again.

Why Star Wars?:

If there's one form of pop culture/science fiction/media franchise I love more than RWBY, Red vs. Blue, and Halo combined...its Star Wars. I love it all. Originals? Yes. Prequels? Yes! Sequels? YES! Clone Wars, Bad Batch, KOTOR, SWTOR, Legends, Rebels, Mandalorian, and Disney? YES! I still remember being five years old and I watched Episode IV for the first time...and remember my childish mind believing that both Han and Luke and lightsaber's respectively. I was the first in my family to watch Episode VII in theaters. I even remember when my high school English teacher asking the class a Star Wars-related question, and all heads turned to me.

Go ahead, call me a nerd. But it is the way.

Why Rebels?:

However, I'm pretty sure many of you are all asking the same question...why Star Wars Rebels? Hmm? Why not The Clone Wars? They have good characters that would interact with Team RWBY perfectly? True, very true. But I feel as if The Clone Wars is a safe bet, because its been done numerous times already, even beyond RWBY crossovers. I chose Rebels over The Clone Wars because it hasn't been used that much. Sure the show got off to a rocky start, but I feel as if Rebels not only paid homage to The Clone Wars (as the show was cancelled at the time), but also greatly expanded the new Star Wars canon, with several characters from Legends returning, such as Thrawn. The show itself shined the best in its third season, which in my opinion, felt like a season of The Clone Wars. And its final season was top-notch Star Wars writing, and hope to see characters return later down the line. I've heard the rumors of a Rebels sequel series/the new Ahsoka mini-series being a spin-off, along with Lucasfilm working on new animated Star Wars films. So I'm praying for something good at SW Celebration 2021.

The Challenge:

When it comes to writing fanfiction, writers of course tend to put in fan service, or their own goofy ideas into the mix. I do the same with RvBvRWBY and Spider-Man: Mission Remnant. In my opinion, it feels right. Because continuity in RvB is virtually non-existent, RWBY has a ton of fan service, and Marvel has a multiple universes with doppelgängers and other dimensions. But for Star Wars, there isn't a lot. I feel as if I have to follow a strict but flexible path that has been made. I'm not saying that this story will end how Rebels ending. I saying that there are several things that this story needs to address to feel like a Star Wars story. Its quite a challenge, but I'm willing to take it. The adrenaline, the thrill, the tension, its fun, and I'm VERY good at it.

Love, Hope, Adventure, and the Force:

These are four of many themes I wish to go into in The Jedi and the Mandalorian. These fell like the cornerstones of Star Wars.

Love is a theme I've been longing to write about (i.e.: Ruby x Caboose in RvBvRWBY). But for this story, it obviously going to be Ezra and Sabine. I remember when this ship was formed after watching the Rebels premiere. All the speculation and jokes made, I didn't really care if they got together, if they did I'd be ok with it. But as time went on, around the third season, I felt like these two kids, these teenagers, were perfect for one another. When the series ended, Dave Filoni spoke on the topic of Ezra x Sabine. And what he said, was something I will never forget:

"Two people of the opposite gender can have a bond without having a romantic relationship."

This is something that I believe in, and something that the RWBY fandom should understand (to some extent). You don't have to have two people, with the same age, or anything else, be in a romance. They can a close friendship, a bond, etc. But no FORCED shipping at all. It can be cute at times, but forced is not a good thing.

Filoni however did not deny or confirm a romance between Ezra and Sabine in the known future. In a way, he basically wanted to use Rebels as a way to flesh out their characteristics and personalities. They are not the same people when the show started. At the end of series and all the way back in season 3, you can clearly see the bond and closeness the two have. The have an understanding of one another, where they come from; they both lost their families to the Empire. The way they look at one another is another thing to look at. Filoni has constantly teased at the ship throughout Rebels, so it feels just right.

So putting them together, it feels realistic, it feels proper, its easy to digest. Not forced by the fandom or writers who want romance in a story.

Structure:

For those who've read or are stilling my RvBvRWBY series, you know that each story is spilt in to two separate acts respectively. However for The Jedi and the Mandalorian, there isn't any. It's going to be one big story form beginning to end. Viewers might be able to see when one story ends and another beginning though. If there were acts, I'd say there would (hopefully) be around three to possibly four. The first itself is basically Ezra and Sabine making a name for themselves. They're doing what they do best, from blowing stuff up, to raiding the White Fang of supplies. Good old-fashioned Star Wars Rebels, with a hint of mystery, along with laying the foundations of the Ezra x Sabine ship. I might add in the episodes of Rebels into the mix as well, but that's still up for debate.

As for Team RWBY, you won't see them for awhile. Maybe a few chapters at best, but still.

I'm also taking inspiration from Legends as well, because why not.

So that is all I wanted to share as of now. Enjoy the story, as I will be working it more often for the next few weeks to get it up to a decent stopping point. And as always: May the Force be with you.
