"If we could get our hands on those weapons, we could sell them."

"Arms dealers?" Ezra questioned, "That's a bit too far."

"Look, I know it is." Sabine agreed with him, "But it will be good money. I'll even have Chopper find us a guy who'll sell the weapons off for good use..."

Ezra smiled as she did the same, "We're both in this...together."

"Together." he repeated...

'Get it together, Mando!' she said to herself, 'What am I thinking? A Jedi and a Mandalorian...that's a partnership not even the Empire can imagine...'

RWBY: The Jedi and the Mandalorian

Chapter 4 - The Job

Premise: Ezra and Sabine take up a job from a well-renown corporation.

Nighttime had already covered the City of Vale. It was just after 7:00, with the inhabitants either heading home, or simply out for the night. The shadier parts of Vale were one of many places to be lively as well. Mercenaries, small-time criminals, anyone looking for a quick cash-and-grab.

Including two young teenage rebels…

"Are you sure this is the way?" Sabine asked as she followed Ezra through the city streets.

Ezra snorted at her comment, to which she understood, "Alright, you got me there. But seriously."

"We should be...Here!" Ezra shouted, pointing at a nearby building, "This is the place."

They approached a large building with a shady entrance, it seemed almost abandoned.

"This is the place?" Sabine questioned, "An abandoned building?"

"Chopper looked and said this was it." Ezra retorted

"I know, that's why I'm curious." Sabine huffed as they reached the entrance. The both entered the building only to hear a faint sound coming from the other side of thick black doors.

"Is that...music?" Sabine muttered

"Apparently so." Ezra replied before opening the doors. Upon doing so, he and Sabine were blasted in the face by loud music until they got a look at their surroundings.

"A nightclub, how nice is that." he said sarcastically, "Let's look around."

The two walked inside to get a better look at the room. It was big, as it was the main room in any nightclub. The aesthetic was mainly black with white outlining. There was a DJ with a bear head playing music, and various tables and booths in the corners. The place didn't look that busy, with only men in black and red suits walking around, along with two girls.

"Move towards the bar." Sabine muttered, "We might find him there."

The two made their way to the bar at the center of the club, where a man with black hair, goatee, clad in a suit was sitting.

"Aren't you kids a little young to be in here?" he asked them

"We're looking for work." Ezra replied, ignoring the man's comment

"Well we don't serve that here." he retorted, "So its best bet you leave."

"Fine, then I guess we'll just have to find someone else willing to pay for seven crates filled with military-grade weapons previously used by the White Fang." Sabine said before she and Ezra made their way for the door

The man turned quickly, "Wait! Show me the weapons."

Ezra opened one of the crates filled with pistols. Junior then took one out and inspected it personally.

"Hmm, not bad." he muttered, "Still in perfect condition. How much do you want?"

"First you have to make sure these get sold to militias outside the kingdoms." Ezra warned him, "People willing to help others fight off the Grimm."

"I'll see what I can do." Junior retorted, "So much are we asking?"

Ezra looked at Sabine for an answer, "10,000, no less."

Junior looked baffled at her request, "Like hell! 5,000!"

"8,000." Ezra interjected

Junior sighed, "Fine, deal. I'll have someone send the Lien out. Anything else?"

"Well that depends." Sabine shrugged, "Know of any big job offers for bounty hunters such as ourselves?"

"Specifically that could hurt the White Fang." Ezra added

"Alright, I know of one." said Junior, "The Schnee Dust Company is in need of a security detail for one of their trains. There have been rumors that the White Fang wants to raid it for supplies."

Sabine then looked at Ezra, and while wearing her helmet, he knew the look she was giving him.

"Well it's not like we have anything better to do." he said to her jokingly

"We'll take the intel." Sabine agreed, "Send it to our scrolls."

Ezra laid on his bed in the Gauntlet fast asleep. He and Sabine had been taking turns over piloting the ship, and now it was his turn to rest.

He stirred slightly in his sleep before grunting as if in fear. He was having a dream...No...a nightmare. He saw himself standing within a dark void, surrounded by ghostly cloaked figures. Standing off in the distance was a woman draped in black cloak, her face was blurred with only her glowing red eyes visible. However she was overshadowed by someone else, but was unseen.

Before anything else could happen, a purple light shined through from the dark sky. Ezra looked up to see a hand outstretched.

"EZRA!" a female voice shouted before he grabbed it and pulled him up.

Ezra stuttered as his surroundings changed from that of a dark void to his quarters on the Gauntlet. However he was still holding someone's hands...Sabine's hand.

"Ezra, are you ok?" she asked worriedly

"Uh, yeah." he uttered out of breath before letting go of her hand, "Sorry! I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine." she said, "You had a nightmare...or perhaps a vision?"

"No, I think it was just a simple nightmare." Ezra muttered, "I-I'm it was nothing."

Sabine gave him a cold glare, "Ezra…"

He sighed knowing he couldn't lie to her, "Alright, I was in a black void, and I saw a woman."

"A woman…" Sabine repeated, "Alright I don't need anything else."

"Not that!" Ezra hissed, knowing what see was talking about

The young Mandalorian however couldn't help but chuckle, "Kidding! You're sure it was just a normal nightmare?"

"I'm sure." he replied before raising an eyebrow, "Wait, aren't you supposed to be flying the ship?"

"Relax Ezra, Chopper's got it right now." Sabine waved him to calm down, "Besides, we have to get ready for our job."

"Right." he muttered as he stood up, "Together."

"Yeah, together." Sabine muttered, "I'll be in the armory going through some explosives should we need them."

"I'll be in the cockpit." Ezra replied

As he went towards the cockpit, Ezra couldn't help but feel the Force surrounding Sabine seem a bit off. He felt confusion, nervousness, and agitation. All while being surrounded in a form of warmth and happiness. He remembered feeling it the other night in the village when comforting her on missing both her Mandalorian and Rebel families respectively. However he decided to brush it aside for the time being, seeing it as none of his business.

"Right." Ezra muttered as he stood up, "Together."

"Yeah, together." Sabine muttered, "I'll be in the armory going through some explosives should we need them."

"I'll be in the cockpit." he replied before leaving. Sabine also left the room to go through what explosives, should they need them in case things went utterly south. As she went to the Gauntlet's armory, she felt that same feeling she had the other night. Sabine smiled at the sensation, as it felt like a gentle pull in her chest.

"Why is this happening?' she mentally asked herself, 'Ugh, I am TERRIBLE with feelings!'

Sabine once again suppressed these emotions and got what explosive they might need. Thermal detonators, droid poppers, stun grenades, smoke grenades, even a few paint bombs that she created herself. She then went through the colors of the bombs respectively. She started off with her signature color: purple. Then she chose pink, which was her alternative to purple if she was out. Lastly came blue and orange, which she stared at in interest.

'Hmm, blue and orange.' she thought, "Kinda reminds me of Ezra's eyes and attire-OH NOT AGAIN!'

Shaking her head furiously, Sabine packed up the explosives and stormed out of the armory.

'What is wrong with me!?' she asked herself, 'I hate this!'

Her anger dissipated as the feeling of warmth washed over her again. Sabine swore she never felt it before in her entire life.

So why did it feel so familiar?

Either by luck or the Force pulling strings, Sabine shoved her thoughts aside as she entered the cockpit. Ezra was manning the controls, while Chopper was overseeing what repairs the Gauntlet still needed.

"Whoa, are you alright?" Ezra asked her, seeing the look of discomfort on her face

"It's nothing." she replied, waving off casually as she sat in her seat, "Any news I should hear before we head off on our assignment?"

Ezra beamed a smile before turning to Chopper, "Chop, tell her the good news."

Chopper then grumbled something in binary, which the two teens understood crystal clear.

"Whoa, you got life support up and running again?" Sabine question with a hint of hope in her tone

"Yeah, Chop did most of the work overnight." Ezra explained, "As for the hyperdrive, that'll still take time."

"Well, at least some good news for the day." Sabine sighed as she leaned in her seat, "Shall we press on to our destination?"

"Already en route." Ezra replied, "So what do we know about this Schnee Dust Company?"

Sabine shrugged, "Uh not much. According to what I found, the SDC is Remnant's largest dust manufacturer. However they act in some ways as a monopoly, and some people claim the company has undergone questionable business practices."

"Which are?"

"Don't know." Sabine added

Eventually, the Gauntlet landed on the outskirts of the Forever Fall just outside what appeared to be a factory of some kind. The main gates of the complex had the symbol of snowflake with the words SCHNEE DUST COMPANY emblazoned underneath. Both young Rebels exited their ship, where their helmets and weapons were at the ready. They approached the gate just as it opened where they noticed a man in grey armor with white stripes and helmet that cover his entire face minus his mouth greeted them.

Welcome, you must be the mercenaries hired to assist in the security?" he asked

"That's right." Ezra replied, "Are we early or late?"

"In time actually." the man replied, "I'll brief you on the way."

The man led the two towards one of the SDC trains that held several cars respectively. There were men clad in the same armor as his, carrying rifles at the ready.

"What's with the buffed up security?" Sabine asked in curiosity

"The White Fang has been doubling down on the raids on dust mines." the man explained, "So new security protocols were put in to make sure the protection of our goods were good."

"Who's your supplier?" Sabine added

"Mainly the Atlas Military." he said, "Comes in handy if I do say so myself."

The trio then approached the train that was prepped for departure. The man then turned to face the two.

"The objective is simple: You are to act as additional security and escort this train to our main facility in the City of Vale. As you might know, the Forever Fall is known to have sporadic Grimm activity from time-to-time. The White Fang also pose a threat, they even managed to attack another one of our trains a while ago. Once the train is safe and in the city. Your payment will be received."

"We understand." Ezra replied before he and Sabine boarded the train. The man then turned to his fellow security and started giving orders to load up additional cargo for the trip.

Ezra found himself waiting within the corridors of one of the train cars. It had been an hour or so after they departed the SDC facility. He began to ponder on the many thoughts running through mind.

Little more than a month ago, he finally got rid of a personal thorn in not only his side, but his surrogate family as a whole. Maul was now nothing more than a relic of the past, a past now in the shadow of the Galactic Empire. He remembered feeling Maul's demise through the force; he stole his ship on Tatooine when he felt the tremor. He first felt no remorse, but soon then felt sympathy for the former Sith. He was used by the Emperor, just as the Jedi of old, the Clones, and the Republic were as well.

'If only he was on the right side.' Ezra thought

His thoughts on Maul soon progressed, as he remembered the time he was on Dathomir with him. As the Nightbrother warrior prepared a ritual for them, Ezra noticed the Darksaber on display as if it were nothing more than a trophy. When he asked him if it was a lightsaber, Maul replied with these words.

'If your Mandalorian friend was here...hehe...she could TELL you…'

Sabine.

The thoughts of Maul, the Empire, Hera, Zeb, Kanan, even his own parents were set aside as he now focused on what he considered his best friend. A friend whose people, the Mandalorians, he had little to no knowledge of their culture, other than the fact they were former enemies and now legendary rivals of the Jedi. During his training with Kanan, to helping Sabine wield the Darksaber, Ezra learned that Jedi and Mandalorians never really saw eye-to-eye. To an average individual, this seemed correct, but to Ezra it wasn't. He was friends with one after all, one that he admired, respected, and cared for as if she were family.

He was happy he was still wearing his custom-painted Scout Trooper helmet, cause he blushed at the thought.

He remembered the day he first met her and the rest of the Ghost crew nearly over three years ago. He stole two crates of Imperial blasters from them, which just stole from the Empire. She removed her helmet, and from Ezra's young twisted mind, all he saw was pure beauty. When he joined the crew, he developed a one-sided crush on her. He knew she wasn't interested in him at all, but over time his flirting with her just sort of died away. They became partners, confidants, and best friends. He told her of his parents' disappearance at the hands of the Empire, her encouragement to talk to the one person who knew the truth, and her gifting him an image of himself and his parents that she found in his old home on Lothal as a present. He in turn, gifting her a TIE Fighter he and Zeb stole to act as a canvas for her art. They soon became a team of their own, from doing missions together for the Rebellion, to supply runs for the Ghost. There was the occasional quip, joke, or flirt between them both, but was only to get a laugh out of each other. There were even times when they would get in trouble, such as when they had a big paint fight in the Ghost, and got the entire storage room a mess. Hera then had them clean it up, but Zeb had to help cause he was in charge of them both and slacked off.

But Ezra's thoughts on Sabine soon changed from her to her mind. The Force was acting in his words or maybe Kanan's: rather odd in a way, around her. A sense of warmth and happiness was surrounding her and would show up sporadically then be suppressed by feelings of nervousness and annoyance, yet he felt the former two burn through even more. He didn't know what was wrong earlier until he hit him now.

She was conflicted. But by what?

'No no no, it can't be.' he thought to himself, 'She wasn't interested at first, highly doubt she's interested now...or...is she?'

Ezra's childish crush on Sabine died out long ago, just after rescuing Kanan from Mustafar. It lingered only slightly after they joined Phoenix Squadron before dying out almost completely after learning of his parent's demise. But now, he too was conflicted as much as she was.

"Ezra."

The young Jedi was pulled from his thoughts by the sound of a female voice as Sabine approached him.

"You ok?" she asked through her helmet, "You looked deep in thought."

"That's because I was." Ezra replied as the front of his helmet folded up revealing his face, "What's the status on the train?"

"We're secure for now." the Mandalorian said as she removed her helmet, "No sign of any major Grimm activity or White Fang patrols. Guards are rather rude if you ask me."

"Hmm…" he muttered as Sabine looked at him in confusion

"Are you sure you're ok?" she asked him

The same feeling of warmth surrounded her once again as he stared back at her. Her eyes had a sense of sadness and worry toward him.

"Sabine…" he said but stopped himself as he felt a new feeling in the Force. Fear, anger, and mystery. Not of Sabine, but something else.

Something on the train.

"...Do you feel that?" he asked blatantly as he looked around the train car they were in.

Sabine looked at him as if he were a Gungan, "Feel what?"

Ezra then realized what he said, "Oh right, sorry. Follow me."

He then put his helmet back on his face and darted off towards the end of the train car. Sabine followed not far behind as she donned her helmet once more.

"Ezra, slow down!" she shouted at him as he left her in the dust. Eventually she caught up when he stopped at the corridor leading up to a door to the caboose of the train.

"Ezra this section of the train is authorized for a secret few." Sabine said to him, "I highly doubt we have the clearance to go in there."

"Since when do we follow protocol?" he asked her as he approached the guard at the door, who stepped forward upon noticing the two

"Sorry you two, this area is restricted to SDC security only."

Ezra then waved his hand in front of him, "We need to get inside."

"You need to get inside." he repeated

"We can proceed." Ezra added

"You can proceed." the guard said as he stepped out of the way for the two to enter the caboose. Once inside, they noticed the train car had various crates, cargo containers, and other boxes inside. Both removed their helmets and slung them under their arms.

"This doesn't look that secretive." Ezra muttered as he walked deeper into the train car. Sabine followed closely behind.

"Maybe it's meant to look like that." she guessed as she looked at a blue helmet with a gold visor on display, "Hmm, looks like this was built for an idiot…"

"Sabine!" Ezra called her as she went over to where he was. Ezra stood looking over a small grey crate. A symbol of a white hexagon outlined in dark blue, bearing the resemblance of a TIE Fighter wing, was plastered on its front.

Sabine removed her helmet as she looked at the symbol with wide eyes.

"Is that-"

"The symbol of the Separatist Alliance?" Ezra asked, cutting her off, "Indeed it is. Let's see what's inside."

Ezra unlocked the clips keeping the box closed before opening it. Inside were slabs of a metal ore.

"It's some sort of ore." he muttered as he removed one from the box and inspected it. Sabine did the same, but looked at it with knowing looking in her eyes.

"Ezra…" she said, "Do you know what this is?"

"...No?" he answered, "Should I?"

"Ezra...this is beskar." she said to him, only to get a look of confusion from him, "...It's what my armor is made of, you di'kut."

"Well there's a new nickname for me, how lovely is that?" he sarcastically muttered, "What were the Separatists doing with this?"

"I think the question you should be asking is how the hell did the SDC get their hands on this?" Sabine corrected him, "Remnant has no contact with the wider galaxy."

"Um, it's not just the beskar they have…look."

Sabine looked at where Ezra was, and saw the head of a robot on display. It was colored in a shade of light grey with pink outlinings.

"That's the head of a Separatist Super Tactical Droid." Sabine said as she walked up to it

"Yeah, I remember meeting one on Agamar." Ezra muttered, "His name was Kalani, he made us fight against his remaining battle droids to see who would win the Clone Wars."

"He seemed friendly." Sabine quipped

"He was actually, even respected the Jedi." Ezra added before sensing the same emotions of fear and ger coming through the Force.

"There it is again." he said, "This way!"

He ran towards a large red storage crate near the middle of the train car. It seemed like the kind of storage container the Empire would use for transporting vehicles or large supplies of equipment. Ezra unlocked the doors to the container and opened them, only to stumble back in shock.

"Ezra, what's-" Sabine muttered before looking inside, "Oh no…"

To their shock and horror, inside the storage container were Faunus. Their ages ranged from middle age to toddler. They looked starved to death, and both physically/mentally exhausted. They all looked frightened at the sight of the two teens looking at them.

Ezra folded up his helmet's visor to reveal his face. He held his hands up to calm them all down.

"Don't worry, it's ok." he said calmly, "You can come out."

Slowly, but cautiously, they all piled out of the crate. Fearfully looking at the Jedi and Mandalorian as they watched them.

"Are any of you hurt?" Ezra asked them

"No, we're fine." a male Faunus replied while rubbing his eyes, "Just getting used to the light."

"What were you doing in here?" Sabine questioned

A young female Faunus scoffed, "You two should obviously know. You work for the Schnees after all."

"Actually, we don't." Sabine corrected her, "We were hired to protect this train from Grimm and the White Fang, that is if they attack."

"Liar!" the girl screamed, "You humans are all the same! You want us enslaved! That's why we work in the Dust mines! You use us as cheap labor and nothing more!"

"Wait…" Ezra muttered, "Questionable business practices...Sabine this is what the SDC has been doing!"

"You didn't know? An older Faunus asked, "Have you two been living under a rock?"

"Something like that." Sabine replied, disgusted by the SDC's actions, "Are all Faunus locked up like this?"

"No they aren't." the man continued, "We were locked up because we caught word of a secret project the SDC was working on, alongside the Atlas Military."

"What kind of project?" Ezra asked

"I don't know much, but Eli knows more." he replied, gesturing to a young male Faunus next to him.

"He's right, I do." said Eli, "I'm Eli Muskis. I was a computer technician, analyst, and programmer, before the SDC took me."

"What happened?" Ezra asked curiously

"I was approached by the SDC with the offer to work on a secret project in conjunction with the Atlas Military. I knew signing on would mean I would have to leave my family, so I refused. So they took me by force."

"Is it just you?" Sabine then questioned

"Just me." Eli continued, "There are several others that are programmers and hackers. Mainly from Vale and Atlas. Though I'm the only one with the knowledge of the project."

"What was the SDC working on?" Ezra asked him

Eli scratched his chin, "Uh some sort of new robot. I think it was to replace the aging Atlesian AK-130 sentry robots the military's been using. We were shown samples of several unidentified units, including the head of one as well."

Sabine then gestured towards the head of the Super Tactical Droid, "Kinda looks like that?"

Eli's eyes widened, "Yes! That's it! I was forced to search its data banks for its primary programming. Then form my own to use for the next line of Atlesian sentry units. But the project has been kept under heavy surveillance. I've been working with a gun pointed at my back ever since I was kidnapped."

"Who else knows about the project?" Sabine asked him

"Most of it is top secret." Eli explained, "I only know what I was told when working. The head of the SDC, the General of the Atlas Military, and probably the heiress of the SDC know more."

Ezra and Sabine looked at one another before nodding in agreement.

"Alright, I'm calling it." Ezra announced, "We're getting you all out of here."

"And how do you suggest we do that?" the female Faunas from before questioned them, scoffing in the process

Sabine then got on comms, "Chopper, bring the Gauntlet around, prep the lower boarding seats for deployment."

"What will we do while we wait?" Eli asked

Sabine then tossed a detonator in the air, a smirk on her face, "What we do best."

A little while later, Sabine opened the top hatch of the caboose, her helmet back on her head as she stood on top of the moving train. She could see the crimson red treetops of the Forever Fall fly past her.

"Sabine, Chopper's gonna be here within a few minutes." Ezra said to her via comms, "Set the charges on the train as quick as you can. I don't know when the train will get to Vale."

"Copy that Spectre 6." she replied, "Spectre 5 out."

Sabine flew over the side of the train with her jet pack as she attached almost every explosive she had packed with her to several cars. However the young Mandalorian artist knew she didn't have enough for each car, so she opted to plant a few on the engine as well.

As she planted the last explosive on the engine, she heard the sound of a roof panel behind. She turned to see an SDC guard looking around before turning in her direction.

"Hey!" he muttered before a blaster bolt hit him in the head, he fell back into the engine room with a thud, revealing Sabine with smoke emitting from one of her WESTAR-35s. Sabine then looked up to the Gauntlet approaching their position, keeping up with the train's speed as it docked over the caboose. She flew back to the last train car just as Ezra began helping everyone onto the roof. The Gauntlet's underbelly then opened up, revealing several seats.

"Alright! Everybody on!" Ezra shouted as Eli climbed onto the roof with the Super Tactical Droid head and the crate filled with beskar plates. He placed them on one of the seats, before being grabbed by someone.

"Hey!" he shouted as he was held by the female Faunus from before, who now held a pistol to his head

"Whoa! What are you doing!?" Ezra asked as he and Sabine looked at her

"Dealing with a traitor to his own species." she sneered, "But with his knowledge of a human project, perhaps he can be of some use to my people."

Realization then hit the two rebels, "You're with the White Fang."

"You got that right, human." she snarled at them, "Now, make this simple and drop your weapons."

"Not a chance." Sabine retorted

The girl growled before aiming the weapon at Sabine, but it was quickly cut in two by the emerald green blade of Ezra's lightsaber. The girl stumbled back slightly, letting go of Eli in the process before Sabine shot her in the chest.

"You good?" Ezra asked Eli as he helped him up and towards the Gauntlet.

"I am, thanks." Eli replied as he sat down only to notice something, "Wait, there's no room for you guys."

"Don't worry, we'll be fine." Ezra said before getting on comms, "Chopper, you're clear!"

The seats folded up and back into the ship, carrying the Faunus, before beginning to fly away. Sabine then grabbed Ezra by the waist, causing him to turn a little red in the face.

"WHOA!"

"HANG ON!" Sabine shouted, giving him a cheeky grin under her helmet before flying off and towards the Gauntlet. The rear hatch opened and the two landed on the ramp before looking back at the train.

"Sabine." Ezra said to her, "Do the honors."

With that said, Sabine pushed a button of her vambraces, and within a blink of an eye the entire train blew up. A thick fog of orange, purple, pink, and blue paint covered the area.

"Yes!" she cheered

"A masterpiece as always!" Ezra shouted as they walked into the Gauntlet as it flew away.

The Gauntlet was now parked just outside the town in the Forever Fall, far away from the SDC and the City of Vale. After the destruction of the train, Sabine and Ezra decided to take them to Doc where they could be safe for the time being. It was now evening, and Sabine found herself in her room on the ship, painting on the walls. The automatic doors then opened, revealing Ezra standing in the door.

"Oh great, now you're painting on the walls of your room." he sarcastically said

"I was bound to start sooner or later." she retorted with a hint of humor in her voice, "How're the Faunus we saved?"

"They're good." Ezra exclaimed, "Doc's arranging for several rooms to be made for them."

"And Eli?" Sabine added

"He'll be staying here for now." he said, "His choice, until he can find a way to get back to Atlas without the SDC recognizing him."

Ezra was about to leave and assist Chopper in what repairs the Gauntlet needed for time being, but was stopped by Sabine's voice.

"Wait." she said as he turned to face her again, "You mind if we talk?"

"Uh, sure." Ezra shrugged as he entered her room. He then got a look of what art Sabine had done on the walls of her room. Several pictures of Stormtrooper helmets crossed out in red, loth-cats, her stylized '5' insignia on her right shoulder plate, nite owls painted in the traditional colors of Clan Wren, and her iconic rebel starbird. There was also a mural on the wall, one side had their surrogate family; the Ghost crew, while the other side had her mother Ursa and her brother Tristan. There was space in between the respective groups, presumably for pictures of themselves.

The two sat down on her bunk next to each other.

"What's wrong?" he asked her

"It's the way you looked on the train." Sabine explained, "I'm no Jedi, but I've known you long enough to know some things are wrong."

Ezra sighed, "Alright, it's you...Wait that came out wrong. I mean...the Force is acting odd around you. It's hard to explain, and it's been going on since we got here."

Sure enough, he felt it once more. The raw emotions circled her as she frowned, not in anger but sadness.

"Look…" she said, not sounding mad, "The day I left the Rebellion and reunited with my family, I had convinced myself I would never see you again."

Ezra's eyes widened, "Me?"

"Yeah, it's like you said." Sabine continued, "We're a team. Even Hera would agree with that too...Look I don't know how to say it but…"

'If you can't tell him, show him, you di'kut.'

Ezra was about to ask her something before he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. It took the young Jedi a second to realize that Sabine was hugging him. His face filled with heat, as a small blush formed, but he returned the embrace. To both their surprise, it didn't feel awkward, instead it felt warm and comforting. They then broke away, both blushing.

"I missed you." Sabine said

"I missed you too."

Chopper rolled through the halls of the Gauntlet, grumbling and beeping as he did. It was not late, presumably almost midnight when he realized that he hadn't seen Ezra nor Sabine since arriving in the village. The grumpy droid began searching the entire ship for them until he noticed the door to Sabine's cabin was open. He rolled up to the door and looked inside, it was semi-dark, and he could see several pieces of Sabine's art. He then looked at the bunk and saw something that took him by surprise. Ezra sat in the bed with his back against the wall with Sabine next to him, her head nestled on his shoulder, while his head rested on hers. Their hands were intertwined as smiles adorned their faces, both seemingly asleep.

Chopper cackled with mechanical laughter. Part of him wanted to shock them with his stunner to get a good laugh out of the scene, and ruin whatever moment they were having. However he kept himself from doing it, knowing full well that he wouldn't hear the end of it from it. Besides, once they get back to Rebellion, he could just tattle to Hera.

He cackled once more and recorded a hologram of them cuddling before closing the door. Leaving the two teens to enjoy their slumber.

Chapter 5 - The Heiress
