Heavy footsteps hit the ground as Ezra ran through a thick forest. His clothes were dirty and his face was bruised. As he ran he tripped over his own foot and landed face first on the ground. As he stood back up, he saw various blurred images of people running away from Grimm, which soon changed to a blurred mirage of a womanly figure overshadowed by someone; the same woman he saw in his previous dream. Feeling an odd presence behind him, Ezra turned to see a shadowy figure standing in front of him. He appeared to be wearing armor.
"Who are you?" Ezra muttered before the figure ignited what appeared to be the Darksaber and slashed at him
Ezra nearly jumped out of the bed as he woke from the nightmare, a small bed of sweat covered him. He turned to see Sabine's sleeping form beside him, he looked down at her with nervousness…
Previously on the Jedi and the Mandalorian...
"Oz, they just left." he said into his scroll
"Where are they going?"
"I'm not sure." he replied, "They took some of the weapons from the White Fang. Other than that, nothing else. Though I did get names from the townsfolk."
"And?"
"Ezra...and Sabine." he said
"Hmm, interesting. Well done Qrow. I'm sure they'll pop up sooner or later."
"You got it Oz."
"EZRA!" a female voice shouted before he grabbed it and pulled him up.
"I don't believe it…" he muttered in shock
"What?" Blake asked, "What is it?"
"Its...its a Jedi Temple…" Ezra said out loud
I think its whats been keep the Grimm away from that area on the island."
"What does that mean?" Pyrrha asked
"It means that the Jedi have a connection to Remnant." Ezra explained, "Or even something else, and felt it. There's something big going on, with people working against one another."
"My squad has worked with Atlas before. General Ironwood? He's unstable, any major news can make him go over the edge. Imagine what would happen if he discovered the greater galaxy, or even contacted the Empire."
"Anyone, linked to Atlas, the SDC, or even huntsmen academies, cannot be trusted." Echo declared
"General Ironwood." he said to him, "James, Its good to see you."
"Same here Oz." Ironwood replied, "We have much to discuss…"
RWBY: The Jedi and the Mandalorian
Chapter 10 - The Temple
Premise: As outside forces investigate the rebel's actions, Ezra seeks knowledge linked to the Jedi and Remnant.
The Professor, now known as Ozpin led Ironwood up to his office on the top of Beacon Tower, which overlooked the entire academy.
"It is good to see you, General." he said to him politely
"Please, drop the formalities." Ironwood replied cordially, "It's been too long."
He then noticed Glynda standing nearby, "And Glynda! It has certainly been too long since we last met."
"Oh James...:" she muttered while waving her hand in a sarcastic manner, "I'll be outside."
Glynda then left the room, leaving the two men to themselves.
"Well she hasn't changed a bit." Ironwood muttered jokingly
Ozpin then turned to his desk and picked up a mug and kettle that was there. He poured out whatever contents that were in it into the mug before handing it to the Atlas General, "So, what in the world has brought you all the way down from Atlas? Headmasters don't typically travel with their students for the Vytal Festival."
Ironwood then pulled out a small flask in his coat pocket and poured its own contents into the mug Ozpin gave him, "Well, you know how much I love Vale this time of year. Besides, with you hosting, I thought that this might be a good opportunity for us to catch up."
"I can certainly appreciate the quality time between friends, however, a small fleet outside my window has me concerned." Ozpin stated about the two Atlas airships hover just outside the city of Vale
"Well...Concern is what brought me here." Ironwood replied in a knowing look
Ozpin raised an eyebrow, "I understand that travel between kingdoms has become increasingly difficult."
Ironwood sighed and looked at Ozpin with a look of disappointment, "Oz, you and I both know why I brought those men."
"We are in a time of peace." Ozpin said to him while taking a sip from his mug, "Shows of power like this are just going to give off the wrong impression."
Ironwood then set his own mug down, "But if what Qrow said is true-"
"If what Qrow said is true, then we will handle it tactfully." Ozpin cut him off, "It's the Vytal Festival. A time to celebrate unity and peace. So I suggest that you not scare people by transporting hundreds of soldiers halfway across the continent."
"I'm just being cautious." Ironwood stated, "Especially with what's been going on lately in Vale."
Ozpin looked at him, "You're referring to the rebels?"
"They've attacked SDC convoys and White Fang operation all throughout the city and surrounding area." Ironwood explained, "I'm just being careful should they wish to attack Atlas property."
"If they wanted to attack your supplies, they would've done it by now." Ozpin retorted, "Besides, you don't even know who they are."
Ironwood raised an eyebrow at him, "And you do?"
Ozpin mentally told himself not to say anything. Something about Ironwood seemed...off.
"...No, I don't know either." Ozpin answered firmly, "Besides, they've so far gained popularity among the people. Attacking the SDC and the White Fang; two of the most controversial organizations in Remnant."
"And one of them I need to supply the Military." Ironwood retorted, "Look, I don't like Jacques either Oz, but I need to make choices of my own."
Suddenly, Ironwood felt his scroll buzz before taking it out. He then answered the call.
"Yes?" he muttered, "Yeah what about it? What!? Well...where is he now? Back in Atlas?"
Ironwood then sighed, "Alright, I'll be back soon."
Ozpin then spoke, "What was that about?"
"I think you should reconsider your view on those rebels Oz." Ironwood declared, "They just attacked a joint Atlas-SDC facility in eastern Sanus."
"That would be the second might I add." Ozpin added, "Whoever they are, they have an objective."
"The only question remains: What is it?" Ironwood muttered, "I've also heard a rumor about Beacon recently. Two huntsmen teams have gone missing."
"Indeed." Ozpin sighed, "But that is none of your concern. That is a problem for Beacon, and Beacon alone."
Ironwood nodded, "Until then, I now have to return to Atlas, deal with this mess. FYI, those ships outside were also requested by the Council."
With that Ironwood left the room, and Glynda then returned.
"Well he hasn't changed a bit." she muttered
"Change can be a small thing, Glynda." Ozpin said to her, "Some are so small, they can go unnoticed."
"What are you saying?" she asked
Ozpin took a sip from his mug, "I think James is hiding something from us…"
Sabine awoke from her slumber as the preset lights in her room activated. She looked around the room childishly only to realize that Ezra was no longer there. Not wanting to sleep in any further, Sabine quickly got dressed and left her room. She walked slowly into the common room, where she found Yang, still dressed in her pajamas.
"Well look who it is…" she muttered with a grin, "Morin' sleepy head."
"Funny seeing you up this early." Sabine retorted with a hint of humor in her voice
"Yeah well, couldn't sleep any further." Yang offered her a seat, "What about you?"
Sabine shrugged, "Same, I guess."
"Heh, funny. You were the one snuggling up with a Jedi last night." Yang teased while wiggling her eyebrows
Sabine's face turned red in embarrassment then anger, "How did-"
"You left the door unlocked." Yang cut her, "I walked past and the door opened."
"Oh…" Sabine muttered
Yang chuckled lightly, "Don't be embarrassed. I congratulate you on your time with Ezra. One thing though, you try anything 'out of the ordinary' on this ship, make sure the door is locked. I don't want my sister walking in."
Sabine once again turned red at thought of...well...that, "We won't be doing anything like that anytime soon."
Yang raised her hands in defense, "Hey, just making sure."
The young Mando shook her head at the ridiculous thoughts Yang was giving her.
"You know…" Sabine began, "He told me why."
Yang stared at her in confusion, "Why what?"
"Why he stopped flirting." Sabine explained, " He accidentally probed my mind and saw how embarrassed I was at it."
Yang put a hand to her mouth, "No way!"
Sabine chuckled a bit, "Hey don't laugh. He was mortified. He couldn't even look me in the eye when he told me."
"Damn…" Yang muttered, "I'm guessing you let him off easy."
"Hey, it was an accident." said Sabine, "He was still learning how to use the Force."
Pyrrha then appeared, "Who? Ezra?"
"Yeah." Sabine said while turning to her, "He told me about the conversation you and Ruby had with him."
"Oh." Pyrrha muttered, "Did he-"
"Tell me what happened? Yeah he did." she answered
"Hey, speaking of Ezra." Yang said to them both, "Where is he?"
"He wasn't in my room when I woke up." Sabine added, "Maybe he's in his room."
Just then, Jaune and Ren entered the room followed by Chopper. The droid was beeping like crazy.
"Whoa whoa, calm down Chop, what's wrong." Sabine asked him
"What is he saying?" Pyrrha asked
"He's asking when did we land." Ren answered
Sabine looked confused before getting up from her seat and ran into the cockpit. Yang and the others followed suit. When they arrived, they looked out the viewscreen to see a large green clearing with thick pine trees.
"You're right, we did land." Yang muttered
"Where are we?" Pyrrha asked
Sabine then checked the Gauntlet's navigation system, "It says we're back on Vytal. Who flew us back all the way here?"
All eyes then fell on Jaune, as he was the only one, aside from Sabine who was with them, who could fly the ship. Admit only a few times.
"Hey, it wasn't me." Jaune defended himself, "And Sabine just woke up, right?"
"Right." Ren agreed, "That leaves only one person left…"
"Ezra." Sabine muttered
"Why would he fly us back here?" Pyrrha questioned
"I think I know why..."
Ezra parked his speeder bike just at the edge of the forest. He followed the call of the Force towards his destination.
"Here we are." he muttered as he looked at the Jedi Temple
Having found the temple a little over a few days ago, Ezra made it one of his objectives to return. The Force was trying to tell him something, but what? He hadn't been to a nexus of the Force since his time on Dathomir, where he had to make a deal with Maul. So it had been some time since the young jedi answered such a call.
As he approached the temple, Ezra took in just less of a temple it actually was. It seemed more like a large rocky hut with a stone entrance. Several stone pillars outlined a pathway that lead to the temple entrance which lead into a cave.
"Alright." Ezra muttered as he looked at the entrance, "Here goes nothing…"
With that, Ezra ignited his lightsaber so he could see and walked into the cave.
Back on the Gauntlet, Sabine and Ruby were going through the ships' inventory while discussing Ezra's disappearance.
"He even took a speeder." Sabine said as she looked to see that Ezra's speeder bike was no longer there.
"Why did he leave?" Ruby asked, "The Temple's a long way from here."
"I don't know." Sabine muttered, "But whatever it was, it has to be important. He did this once while I was away with my family."
"Really?" Ruby said baffled
"Yeah, he was looking for the 'key to destroying the Sith' as he put it." Sabine said to her
Ruby looked at her confused, "The Sith?"
"Oh right…" the Mandalorian muttered. Neither herself or Ezra have told them about the Sith, "I don't know much, Ezra could probably tell you more. But long story short: Ezra went off to stop a renegade Sith called Maul. He'd been causing issues for us, specifically Ezra and Kanan. But when Ezra got back, he told me that he knew where he had to be, with us, the Rebellion, fighting the Empire. Maul perished at the hands of another Jedi. In fact, the Gauntlet was Maul's."
"Wait, really!?" Ruby cried
"Yeah, but Ezra cleaned it out." Sabine added, "There's little in here that used to be Maul's."
"Yeah…" Ruby muttered, "Uh, I should get back upstairs. Yang said she needs help with something."
"Ok." Sabine replied before Ruby went back up top. As the Mandalorian went back to work, she was stopped by the sound of something falling over. It was small and not loud, implying it could have been a tool falling from a shelf.
"What was that?" she muttered quietly as she looked around
"Yang?" she said out loud, "Is that you? Blake? Nora?"
No one answered, but Sabine swore she heard the sound of someone mumbling to themselves.
"This isn't funny Yang." Sabine stated, "If Chopper's in on this, I'm throwing you both in an oil bath."
But no one responded, yet Sabine still heard someone grumbling. Then a thought she processed in her mind finally came to the forefront: someone was on board the Gauntlet, and it wasn't one of the crew. Sabine slowly removed one of her WESTARs from its holster, setting it to stun, and gripped it tight. She snuck quietly around the ship's cargo, closing in on the mumbling until it suddenly stopped. She could smell the stench of alcohol in the air, not enough to disgust a person, but enough to annoy anyone. Sabine controlled her breathing while gripping her blaster before turning around as if she were to leave, but then spun back around at lightning speed and fired a stun shot towards a shadowed corner.
The bolt was absorbed by the body of some man wearing a gray collared shirt, torn red cape, and black pants. He had fair skin, slicked back black hair, stubble on his face, and rings on his fingers. Some large sword was on his back just underneath his cape.
Sabine quickly grabbed a pair of restraints and put them on the man's cuffs. She then got on the ship's intercom, "Guys! We have a stowaway on board!"
The halls of the temple Ezra walked through were dark and gloomy. It seemed to have been eons since some stepped foot in there. Luckily the boy used his lightsaber to illuminate his surroundings. There were several drawings and paintings of some kind on the walls.
"These look like...Jedi…" Ezra muttered as he grazed a mural of what appeared to be Jedi coming down from the sky, "Well whatever's here, has to be important. The Jedi knew something about Remnant. Oh what was I thinking!? I can't do this alone! I need Kanan. Maybe he knows something."
As Ezra turned around to leave, he was stopped by something odd. The corridor he was in, was now replaced with a large wall.
"Wait…" he muttered, "Wasn't there a-"
Just then, he heard a faint voice, "Ezra…"
Ezra looked around to see if someone was nearby, "Hello? Is anyone there?"
"Ezra…" the voice repeated slightly louder
"I can hear you." Ezra responded, "Where are you?"
"EZRA!" it was now obvious the voice was that of a girl, and Ezra knew who.
"Sabine!" he shouted before darting down the remains of the corridor. As he ran, he felt as if the corridor was shrinking fast. The ground began to cave in as well, and Ezra began to panic. Soon enough, Ezra was sucked underneath his ground. He panicked as he fell through what appeared to be a dark void before hitting the ground. He coughed slightly and groaned a bit as he stood up. The cave he was in was now illuminated by green torches, standing a few feet away from him was Sabine.
"Sabine!" he shouted as he ran up to her, but he then stopped himself. The Mando appeared to be standing incredibly still, and had her head bowed down, her face was seemingly emotionless. Something wasn't right, he was in a Jedi Temple, and he remembered what happened the last few times he was in one.
"Sabine…" he muttered nervously
'Sabine' then looked up, her eyes still closed before, were now opened. Ezra looked at her in horror, her eyes were completely glowing green with mist emitting out of them.
"A Nightsister…" he muttered
'Sabine' then grinned evilly before igniting the Darksaber in her hands, and charged at him.
Back on the Gauntlet, the real Sabine was overlooking the man she found hiding in the ship's cargo hold. The latter of which was cuffed to a chair so he couldn't go anywhere.
Weiss, Blake, Chopper, Omega, and all of Team JNPR were standing beside the Mando as they observed the unconscious stowaway. Who was strapped to one of the seats in the cockpit.
"This is the guy?" Weiss questioned with a look of disgust, "Looks like a wreck."
"Ha'arak, he smells like a sack of bantha fodder…" Sabine added, "And alcohol."
"Who is he?" Blake muttered
Weiss then reached into his pocket and pulled out his scroll, and looked at his ID, "It says here his name is Qrow Branwen, a licensed huntsmen, graduated from Beacon Academy, and teaches at Signal Academy."
"Well, we know he's a huntsmen." Omega stated, "The weapon he has says it all. So we all know what that means, right?"
"Ozpin." Ren muttered, "He's probably sending whatever huntsmen he has available to look for us."
"How many do you think he sent?" Sabine asked
"My guess would be: a lot." Ren answered
"How long do you think he was hiding?" Jaune asked about the man
"Who knows, maybe we should wake him up." Pyrrha suggested
"Agreed." said Sabine as she turned to Chopper, "Chop, wake him up."
The droid grumbled before rolling up to the man. He then retracted his shocker, and sent a bolt of electricity around the man's body. He stuttered at the small shock and woke up immediately.
"Wha-!? Huh!? Where am I!?" he said in a gruff voice. His pale red eyes darted around in utter confusion before noticing the eight kids, and one robot staring directly at him.
Chopper grumbled a robotic laugh at the man's reaction, with Nora doing the same.
"Nice one, Chopper!" she said to him, to which the droid gave a saluting gesture with one of his robotic arms.
Then sighed as he looked at them all, "My luck…"
"You're a sneaky one, I'll give you that." Sabine said harshly, "So! How long have you been hiding on my ship?"
"Uh, technically it's Ezra's ship." Nora muttered, "Remember Sabine."
The Mando glared at her before turning back, "Tell me now. We know you're a huntsmen, and that you came from Beacon."
Instead of answering, the man instead asked an odd question, "...I assume you know that from my nieces."
Sabine looked confused at what he was talking about. She looked at the others who seemed equally confused as well.
"We got all that from your scroll." Blake said, "What nieces are you talking about?"
Before the man could speak, the door to the cockpit's entrance opened, revealing Ruby and Yang.
"Hey guys." Ruby began, "Sorry we took so long, where's the...guy…"
Ruby trailed off as she and Yang looked at the man Sabine found. They looked surprised to see him.
"UNCLE QROW!" Ruby shouted before darting over to him, faster than light and strangled him a hug.
Weiss and Sabine looked baffled, "Uncle?" they said in unison
"Now it makes sense…" Omega muttered
"Ah! So good to see you!" Ruby cried as she hugged him, "Did you miss me!? DID YOU MISS ME!?"
"...Yes." he muttered
Yang then looked at everyone, "Let him out!"
"Yeah! Yang and I trust him!" Ruby added
"Yeah, well we don't trust him." Sabine retorted, "Not until he tells us what he's doing here."
"If you let him out, we'll make him talk." Yang assured her before glaring at Qrow, "Right?"
Qrow nodded slightly, "Right."
Sabine nodded in agreement along with Omega before removing the restraints on Qrow. The man then rubbed his wrists. Yang then walked up and slapped him in the face.
"OW!" he shouted
"What the hell are you doing here!?" Yang cried
"We know you came from Beacon." Omega added, "Your license says it all."
"Alright. Alright." Qrow sighed, "I was tasked by Ozpin to keep an eye on you."
Weiss raised an eyebrow, "You're referring to Ruby and Yang, I assume?"
"No." Qrow retorted, "I was sent to keep an eye on Paintbomb here, and her boyfriend."
Sabine felt her face heat up in embarrassment, as Chopper started to chuckle a bit, while Yang and Nora snickered. She then took out one of her blasters and fired a stun shot at Qrow's leg.
"Ow!"
"First off, don't ever call me that again." she warned, "Second, why is Ozpin interested in us? Third, HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND!"
"Ok! Ok! Sorry!" Qrow said before continuing, "You've pinged Ozpin's radar ever since your little showdown in the Forever Fall. While there, the townsfolk refused to say much, except for one. Oz felt there was something knew about you guys, and sent me there undercover should you guys ever return."
Sabine lowered her WESTAR, "And we did, three times."
"Exactly." Qrow continued, "First for weapons to sell to local militias, and second to recruit my nieces and their friends, and third to recruit Eli Muskis."
"When did you sneak on board the Gauntlet?" Blake then asked
"After you recruited Muskis." Qrow replied, "I witnessed your raid on the SDC facility in eastern Sanus. Not bad, if you ask me. You guys are up to something big, and Ozpin wants to know what it is."
"Well, maybe Oz should stop poking his nose in other people's business." Sabine scoffed
"That wasn't until Ruby and her friends joined you." Qrow retorted, "If you and the others are identified as collaborators in fighting against Atlas the Schnee Dust Company, there could be a crisis all over Remnant."
Jaune then spoke up, "He's right. Vale and Atlas have close ties to one another. It could undo years of peace."
"Look." Qrow began, "I can tell you mean well. You, and your friend are taking on some of Remnant's most controversial organizations. The people are supportive, to an extent. Ozpin, wants to know why you're doing this, and why eight of his best students joined you."
"Did you tell him you were with us?" Pyrrha asked him
"Actually, I didn't." he answered, "Oz heard rumors that Paintbomb here and her friend were spotted in Vale. Afterwards, several of his students spoke with him, said that you interacted with them for a bit."
"Coco…" Yang muttered, "And Cardin…"
"Oz had suspicions and kept me in the village. I noticed you guys leave, but Oz instructed me to not sneak aboard." Qrow added, "I then snuck on board after you recruited Muskis."
The ten kids couldn't believe it. They were being watched from the start. No matter where they went, Ozpin was watching them. And if Ozpin was watching, Ironwood wasn't far behind.
"Well, we're not going back to Beacon Uncle Qrow." Yang said to him
"Yeah." Ruby added as she puffed her cheeks, "We have our own mission. To protect Remnant."
"From what?"
Ruby shrugged, "Sorry, lips are sealed."
Qrow sighed, "Look, Oz just wants to know why you fight. He doesn't want any harm done to you."
Sabine thought for a moment before turning to Chopper, "Watch him."
With that Sabine and the rest of the crew left and headed for the common room.
Everyone stood in the Gauntlet's common room, and Weiss started the conversation.
"Ok, so. What do we do?"
"You heard Qrow." Omega spoke up, "Ozpin's has been watching us for awhile. We should lay low for a bit."
"But maybe Ozpin can help us?" Ruby suggested, "He could help locate for Separatist holdouts."
"Well I don't trust Oz or your uncle right now Ruby." Sabine retorted, "And besides, remember what Echo said, anyone linked to the huntsmen academies is indirectly linked to Atlas."
"But Ozpin is the most influential headmaster and huntsmen in the world." Pyrrha countered, "He could be a powerful ally."
"But he and Ironwood are friends." Blake added, "Ozpin has a mysterious aura surrounding him, and the soul kind. He can be unpredictable."
"But Ozpin wants to put Remnant first before anything else." Ren stated, "If we tell him what we found, what danger these droids could be. It could help us. We can tell him that Ironwood, one of his closest friends and colleagues, is corrupt."
"No." Ruby said bluntly
"No?" Weiss muttered, "Ruby, why?"
"We don't need him, not yet." Ruby explained, "There are bound to be more of these droids all over Remnant, and places where Ozpin wouldn't find us. We should lay low for a while."
"I agree." Yang added
Sabine sighed, "Where's Ezra when you need him? Wait. How long has Ezra been gone?"
"Uh, at this time, the whole day." Pyrrha answered
Sabine looked worried, "Ok, that's it. He's been gone too long. Ruby, you will go find him. The rest of you watch over Qrow. We'll contact you if we run into trouble."
"Ok, good luck guys."
Ezra blocked strike after strike the fake Sabine delivered him. She charged at him, but Ezra quickly blocked her blows with his lightsaber. They exchanged parries and blocks at one another until they locked blades.
"This isn't real…" Ezra muttered to himself
"Oh, but it is to me!" 'Sabine' retorted, but her voice wasn't the one of a Nightsister, it was that of a man...a man Ezra unfortunately knew.
"Wait, what?" Ezra said confused and nervously
"Hahaha!" 'Sabine' then kicked Ezra in the gut, knocking him to the ground. She then jumped in the air, ready to deliver the killing blow, but Ezra grabbed her with the Force, sending her flying into a nearby pillar. She quickly dissolved into black smoke that quickly surrounded the entire area before dissolving. The cave Ezra was in, was replaced with the halls of the temple.
Ezra ignited his lightsaber once again in defense as he heard footsteps approaching. The same voice chuckled darkly as the figure approached.
"What fun…" he chuckled, "What fun!"
"No…" Ezra muttered, "You died! Master Kenobi killed you!"
"Did I?" the voice questioned, "Or are you still fighting me! In your worst nightmare!"
The figure then emerged, revealing a humanoid man with red and black skin in a tattoo-like pattern. Small horn on his head, and menacing red and yellow eyes. He was shirtless, but had pants on that revealed robotic legs.
"Welcome, my apprentice…" he said to the young Jedi, "Come to begin your training?"
Ezra glared at him before raising his lightsaber up in defense.
"Hmm? Apparently so." the man said before ignited a crimson red, double bladed lightsaber and charged at him. The two force-users clashed with one another, with the dark-sider on the offensive, and Ezra on defense. Eventually, the two locked blades.
"Maul!" Ezra sneered, "I know you're not real!"
"True…" Maul agreed, "But why do you come here, apprentice?"
The two disengaged before reengaging, now with Ezra on the offensive.
"I've come for knowledge!" Ezra proclaimed, "On what the Jedi know about Remnant."
Maul chuckled at this, "Oh did you? Or are your thoughts on something else?"
"What are you talking about?" Ezra asked, now annoyed
"Your conflict, I can sense it." Maul said to him, "Your thoughts dwell on something? No...Someone…"
Ezra then realized what Maul was talking about, there was someone on his mind.
"Tell me, apprentice." Maul continued, "What is she worth to you?"
"That's NONE of your business!" Ezra shouted before jumping in the air. He shoved Maul to the ground, and stabbed the dark-sider in the heart with his lightsaber.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Maul's voice echoed out in the hall, "How much is she worth to you!? How much!?"
Ezra looked frantically for Maul before looked back down. His eyes widened in horror, in his arms wasn;t the body of a Sith Lord. It was the body of Sabine, a hole in her chest.
"No…" he muttered in fear, "No no no no NO!"
The walls began to crumble again, and Ezra was sent falling through an endless void once again.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Ruby held on, as Sabine piloted her speeder bike deep into the forest towards where the Jedi Temple was.
"Here! This might be the stop!" Ruby shouted
Sabine slowed down before coming to a complete stop. Both then disembarked so they could look around
Sabine, who didn't bring her helmet and jetpack, then spoke, "You this is the place?"
"I'm sure...I think." Ruby answered before moving a bush aside, "Yes! This is it!"
The two then stepped out into the clearing, where they saw the rocky pathways, stone pillars, and the hut that led into the caves.
"Wow…" Sabine muttered, "Not bad."
"Yeah, that's what we all thought when we saw it." Ruby said to her, "Come one."
The two walked towards the temple's entrance, where they noticed an orange speeder bike parked nearby.
"There's Ezra's speeder." Sabine said as went over to examine it, "But where did he go?"
"He must've gone inside." Ruby suggested, "But the door is sealed off. We can't get inside."
Sabine sighed, "I hope he's alright."
Ruby took notice of this, "Hey, you ok?"
"I'm fine." Sabine replied, "I'm just worried."
"Um, about what my uncle said." Ruby started to say, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be." Sabine assured her, "I was the one who snapped, I shouldn't have let my feelings get the best of me."
"Don't say that." Ruby retorted, "Yang told me what you two talked about. You care about him."
"I do." Sabine answered, "As a friend."
"No." Ruby said bluntly, "More than a friend. You should talk with Ezra. Maybe he'll feel the same."
Sabine looked at her, "Are you sure?"
Ruby smiled, "I'm sure."
Just then, the rock wall to the cave entrance opened. Both Ruby and Sabine readied their weapons as a figure emerged, the two then lowered them as they recognized who it was.
"Ezra?" Ruby muttered
The young Jedi clutched his stomach, he had several cruises on his face, and his clothes were dirty. He looked at them with fear, before muttering something.
"S-Sa-bine…"
He then fell on his knees and passed out on the ground.
"Ezra!"
The two helped Ezra onto his speeder and Ruby piloted it back to the Gauntlet, with Sabine taking her bike. They arrived back at the ship just as the sun had set.
Pyrrha, who was outside, noticed them carrying the unconscious Ezra. She immediately ran over to see.
"What happened?" she asked
"We don't know, but he's unconscious." Sabine replied, "Ezra, stay with us!"
"What do we do?" Ruby asked, "He needs help."
"Maybe there's something on the ship that can help." Pyrrha suggested
Sabine thought for a moment before shaking her head, "No, I did a scan, Ezra has one broken bone, we don;t have the supplies to help him heal."
"Then he needs a hospital." Pyrrha said
"No." Sabine retorted, "There's only one place left."
She then had Pyrrha take her place in holding Ezra, "Get him to his room, I'm preparing the ship."
"Why?" Ruby asked, "Where are we going?"
"There is only one place left…"
General Ironwood arrived on his dropship and quickly disembarked at Atlas Academy. The huntsmen academy was located at the center of the floating city of Atlas, which was located over the city of Mantle. Ironwood entered the school and headed straight to his office where he found Winter Schnee arguing with a handcuffed Jacques Schnee.
"You can't do this to me!" Jacques protested as he tried desperately to remove his shackles
"You know what you did Jacques!" Winter retorted, "I knew my family's company was committing questionable acts. But what you did is sickening"
"Winter…" Ironwood said to her, making his presence know to them both
"General sir!" Winter saluted him
"At ease." he said, "Why is Jacques restrained?"
"She's lost it James!" the man shouted, "I won't say anything!"
"Silence!" Winter hissed, "General, Jacques here has been committing acts that violate the Vytal Treaty!"
"And what actions are they?" Ironwood asked calmly
"Slavery...on the Faunus." Winter replied firmly, causing Jacques to sweat in fear
Ironwood raised an eyebrow, "I see...Winter, remove his restraints, now."
"But? We have him-"
"Winter." Ironwood said firmly, "Now."
Winter completed and removed Jacques restraints. The corrupt man then rubbed his wrists once they were off.
"You may leave us, Specialist." Ironwood added, "I will deal with this personally."
"Yes sir." Winter replied before leaving the room, sending a glare Jacques' way before disappearing
Ironwood then approached Jacques. However, instead of having a face of anger, he had one filled with disappointment.
"You had one job, Jacques." he said to him, "One. Easy. Job. And I told you to get in done by any means necessary, and to clean up what was left."
"The breaches have been sealed, James." Jacques retorted
"What happened?" Ironwood then asked
"The Faunus escaped the mines, instigated a riot and stole several dropships to escape." Jacques explained in frustration, "But there's more. They were helped, but those rebels."
Ironwood frowned, this was the second time these so-called rebels attacked SDC property. Property also owned by Atlas.
"How do you know this?" Ironwood asked
"One of them attacked me." Jacques spat out, "A boy with a dust-power sword. He destroyed some of the prototypes and the units we acquired. They also destroyed the mines."
"Hmm, was there anyone else with them?"
"Yes. two more with him." Jacques answered, "But with the destruction of the mines I assume there were more, specifically a girl. One who destroyed my train."
"What makes you say that?" Ironwood asked
"The boy said a name: Sabine." Jacques practically spat out the name
Ironwood scratched his chin as he thought. There were two rebels out there, now he had the name of one of them. But from what Jacques told him, there are now more than two.
"I appreciate this news Jacques." Ironwood said as he put his hands on the man's shoulders,
"This might put a block in our plans, but we'll get past it. As for Winter, don't worry, I'll put a small detachment with you to look like you're under investigation. That'll keep her thinking you'll be dealt with."
"And what've the rebels?" Jacques asked
"Leave them to me." Ironwood replied, "Until then, I'll remain here in Atlas conducting the investigation."
