Hello everyone! Chapter 3 is here and even though I know there won't be a TON of people reading my story, I appreciate the ones that do. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Anyways, on with the story

Name: Gwen Richards

Location: Movie theatre

Time: 6 pm

I put my work hat and groaned. Back to the grind again... God why am I such a good worker to the point where my managers want to schedule me to work every. Single. Day! I check myself out in the mirror, even though I know that I don't even look good in my uniform, I try to be positive and that counts for something I guess.

I leave the staff room and saunter my way over to the time clock.

"Oh hey! How's it going Gwen?" I look over and see one of my friends, DJ, at the ticket stand. I smiled as I swipe myself in.

"Oh I'm doing okay; however, I am so tired from trying to finish all my school work and also working here 24/7... you know?" he laughed and nodded in response.

"Oh yeah, I feel ya there! Thank GOD I don't go to school anymore! Too bad student debt is the next exciting thing in my life" I leaned on the ticket stand and sighed.

"Urgh don't even get me started... I want to finish school SO BADLY but I also don't want to deal with paying off my student loans... I don't think I'm ready financially"

"Yeah... it's not fun... especially if you're only making money at a shitty movie theatre job that under pays their staff" I nod in response.

"Mmhm. That's why I want to leave this hell hole as soon as possible"

I then hear the office door open and out steps one of our managers, Chef. Not only is Chef scary looking, he is also scary when you piss him off or don't do what he asks you to do. Luckily, he and I have a good and trusting relationship so I'm not as intimidated by him compared to the other staff who either hate him with a passion or are scared shitless of him.

"Good evening Gwen" Chef says, nodding his head in acknowledgment. He then glares at DJ. "What are you doing slacking off? Get back to WORK!" DJ looks around him and then looks back at Chef.

"There's literally no one here yet..."

"Well then you should be doing something PRODUCTIVE instead of just standing here and doing nothing. Like... do a washroom check" Chef shouted while pointing to the entrance of the men's washroom.

DJ grumbled in annoyance as he grabbed the washroom key before entering the washroom. "I'll talk to you later Gwen..."

Chef then turned to me and smiled. "I hope you're on food service again tonight?" I nod. I am known as the queen of the food service part of the job. At our movie theatre, we make actual food like hot dogs, poutines, chicken strips, pretzels, and more. I actually do my job so we are never under prepared on food when orders start to come in and it gets really busy.

"You know that that's all I do Chef. If you put me on anything else, I feel like the theatre would be on fire and burn to the ground" he laughed in response.

"Good point. Well have a good shift. I'll talk to you about the new trainees after the first rush if I'm not too busy"

I smiled and thanked him before I went to the bar to start my shift.

Thank god that Chef likes me... of else I would be screwed...

The first rush went smoothly even though my coworkers were not very helpful until they realized that I needed help because I was getting swamped with orders. I sat down on a plastic milk crate and took a sip of water from a small cup. I close my eyes and try to block out all the noise around me, just for a little bit until I then hear a voice talking to me.

"Working hard or hardly working?" I look up and see Trent smirking at me. I smile at him and stand up.

"Well I'm not sure if you saw, but I was working my ass off while everyone else was joking around and doing nothing, so I deserve this small break don't you think?" he laughed

"Mmm yeah I guess you're right, unfortunately"

"Unfortunately? Oh please, it's not like you work as hard as I do" I smirk at him

"HEY! That is not true! I'll have you know that I work JUST as hard, actually, even HARDER than you do"

"I doubt that. I literally watched you stand there for 20 minutes and talk to Heather while I was busting my ass doing orders" I put my hand on my hip. "Try to explain that to me"

He barely opened his mouth to retaliate when I heard Geoff enter through the back door with 3 people following him. Trent and I looked to see Duncan, Herald, Ezekiel, and Cody enter behind him.

"Oh great, the newbies are here" Trent said loudly enough so they could hear. Geoff waved at us and told the three to follow him.

"Yo. I'm training them again tonight so BE. NICE" he waved his finger at both of us. "Especially you, Trent" Trent scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Oh please, I'm the nicest guy here" I laughed and shook my head no

"That's a lie"

I look over at Cody, Ezekiel, and Herald and try to get a sense of what kind of people they are since I barely saw them the first training shift they had. I saw Ezekiel looking around dumbfounded like he didn't know that there was a back of house part of the theatre. He nudged Herald in his side to get his attention.

"Dude... This place is HUUUUGE! Like look at how many rooms are back here! It's like... a fun house!" Herald rolled his eyes and face palmed.

"Okay I get it... you already told me like, 5 times already GOSH!"

I then looked at Cody. He was a scrawny guy but he definitely didn't look stupid like the other two. Cody was also looking around but it looked like he was trying to figure out the layout of the back of the house. He continued to look around until he realized I was looking at him. He smiled shyly at me and gave a little wave. I smiled and waved back. I then felt Trent's hand on my shoulder.

"Okay Gwen, let's get back to work and leave these newbies alone to get trained"

"Ah, okay"

"Oh! Before you go!" Geoff chimed up. "Gwen, Chef wanted me to tell you that you have to train these guys next week since I'll be off and Chef only trusts you to train them properly" I groaned in annoyance.

"Of course... Okay I'll do it but just because Chef likes me and I don't want him to hate me if I say no" Geoff smiled and fist pumped the air.

"Thanks a bunch Gwen! I owe you!"

"Yeah yeah"

Before Trent and I left to get ready for the next rush, I looked at Duncan. He was obviously spaced out and not paying attention to what was going on. Honestly, it looked like he was not interested in being here at all and was thinking about something else. At least he has the correct mindset to work here.

Name: Gwen Richards

Location: Movie theatre

Time: 11 pm

It was time to go home again. Luckily it wasn't busy during the second rush and I was able to talk to the trainees and get to know them a little better. Ezekiel... Well he's a lost cause I think. He's not very... bright. Herald is one of those guys who's dream job is to be the manager of this place in 10 years. In other words, he's someone who will be here forever and never get a REAL job. Cody is actually pretty nice. He explained to me that he's kind of awkward around girls until he gets to know them, then he loosens up a bit. He also told me that he wants to be in the music industry and that his dream is to create an album that is sold all around the world which I think is really cool. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see Duncan very much because he was joking around with Geoff the whole training shift so I never really had time to talk to him alone, even though I don't really need to get to know him anymore as our previous interactions are enough for me to know what kind of person he is.

I took off my work shirt and threw it in my gym bag. I picked up my baggy sweater and was about to put it on when I heard a voice

"Ah, I'm blessed to see you like this again"

Oh god not again...

I turn around and see Duncan standing in the doorway.

Of course...

"I feel like you do this on purpose. Are you stalking me or something?" I asked while quickly putting on my sweater. He smirked and walked close to me and my face immediately felt hot.

"Surprisingly, no. I just have great luck. Also, that's a different sports bra than the one before. I liked the other one better" I lifted my eyebrow

"How do you even remember which sports bra I wore? That's kind of creepy if you ask me" he scoffed and crossed his arms.

"I just have a really great memory. I remember lots of unimportant details that's all. Like I remember what I wore on my first day of school."

"That's... very impressive actually" he smiled.

"Why thank you, it's a blessing and a curse sometimes."

Next thing I knew, we started to talk about various topics such as what our dream jobs were, what were our hobbies, where we lived, and of course, about the movie theater and how crappy the job was.

"I'm impressed that you've been working here for so long, I would have quit already. This place is just full of childish teenagers who have no work ethic" I sighed

"You don't even know the half of it..."

I looked at my cell and gasped.

"Ah shit, it's 11:45! I have to go home and go to bed!" I slung my gym bag over my shoulder.

"Ah before you go... I want your number. You're pretty chill and you may be the only person I will enjoy talking to here so I might as well continue talking to you outside of work too." He took out his phone and held it out to me. I smiled, took his phone, and added my number. I sent a text to myself that said "Sup bitch?" then pressed send. My phone dinged and I smiled at him.

"There, now you have my number and I have yours. Just don't spam me or else I'll block you"

"Fiiiiiiinnneee... I'll be nice... for now".

We left the theatre together, still talking to each other about random topics that don't really matter before we got to our cars. Duncan stopped me before I got into my car.

"Well, it was nice talking to you as always. I'll see you next shift I guess... Unless I decide to quit before my training shifts are over"

"If you do that, I will never forgive you! You're in it for the long haul now that you have my number" I replied back before entering my car. I heard him laugh a little before I closed my door and put on some music.

I drove home while thinking about Duncan the whole way back and thinking back on the conversations that we were talking about just moments ago.

Even though he's a flirt, I kind of do enjoy talking to him. Maybe he and I will create a wonderful friendship despite working in the shit hole that is the movie theatre.

I finally get home and throw off my shoes and gym bag on the floor. I quickly brush my teeth and wash my face before changing into my pjs and flopping into bed and snuggling deep into my blankets.

God, I'm so tired...

I close my eyes but before I was able to fall into a deep sleep, I hear a ding from my phone and I quickly look at it, I see that Duncan texted me I opened the text and it said.

"Have a good sleep sweetheart"

I automatically smiled and texted back

"Right back at ya!"

Next thing I knew. I had fallen asleep.
