Hello and sorry for the very long delay! I have been working extremely hard on finishing my 1000 hour internship but I finally did it! I want to thank COVID-19 for giving me the opportunity to have an internship that I made myself and letting me have a stable job (for the time being that is...). I also had to re-read my story because I forgot how the timeline went... but I'm good now! On with the story!

Just coming back from the gym, I dropped my duffel bag and stretched. God, I can't feel my legs... Why do I do this for FUN?! I groaned to myself and went to refill my water bottle when I heard my phone vibrate. Looking at it, I can't help but smile a little bit at the text message that I received:
I just looked at the sheet... Looks like we'll be officially working together, sweetheart. I can't wait to show you what I've learned
Of course, it was Duncan being his usual flirty self. I text back:
Too bad you're working the concessions and I'm working with the food. Then you could have REALLY show me how much you learned.
I filled up my water bottle and waited for his reply. It has been another 2 weeks since Duncan, Cody, Ezekiel, and Harold got trained. Though I observed them from afar getting trained by Geoff and I had to train them not once, but TWICE because of Geoff's "important commitments" to other things, I really didn't see them much. Even the training sessions with them I just kind of sat there and ordered them to do things and run around the building so they know where everything is stored.
I hear another vibration:
That is too bad... But that won't stop me from annoying you and coming over to see you every opportunity I get. You may even get sick of me before the first rush ends
I roll my eyes and text back:
We'll see

I park my car and grab my duffel bag that has my work clothes in it. Walking into the building, I already see Duncan's face behind the counter, laughing and joking around with DJ. I smirk and walk up to the counter in front of both of them, leaning my arm on the counter and leaning in.
"I don't want to interrupt... But Chef won't like seeing you two boys joking around if he came out of the office right now"
They both look over in my direction. DJ gives me a knowing smile and Duncan gives me a smirk so big that you could probably see it from the entrance of the building.
"Well, well, well... My sweetheart has arrived. About time too, I was getting bored" I roll my eyes and look at DJ.
"I see you two are getting along nicely" DJ shrugs and gives Duncan a pat on the back
"Hey, any friend of Geoff's is a friend of mine; and now that I know that you two are close, that makes me even more sure that he's a good guy" I smile and check my phone, seeing that it's 5:05, I tell them that I'm going to get ready for the shift and leave for the staff room.
Upon entering, I see Trent and Heather sitting at a table together and eating their early supper/late lunch. They both turn their attention towards me.
"Oh hey Gwen!" Trent says with a smile. Heather scoffs and gives me a small "hi" before going back to her phone. I smile back at Trent.
"hey Trent! How is the shift so far? Is it busy?" Trent shrugs his shoulders and gives me the customer total sheet.
"Honestly, it's not too bad. Plus, it's a Sunday so not a lot of people are coming in other than the church moms and their kids." I scan the sheet as he says this. Though the kid's movies were pretty busy in the morning, the rest of the shows had maybe 10 people in each theatre, which is normal for a Sunday. I look at the predicted number for the night and it was about 1000 for the first rush and 500 for the second rush. I sigh in relief.
"Seems like an easy night tonight. Thank god" I give the sheet back to Trent, who puts it back in his pocket.
"Yeah, you'll close in no time! You're literally the fastest closer I know! You'll definitely get out of here before the concessions people do. Oh... speaking of the concessions people.." I lift an eyebrow. I know that Duncan and Harold are the "bambi's" who are working tonight on concessions so I kind of knew where he was going with his thought... or so I thought...
"I really don't like Duncan. He's a total prick to be honest. Super cocky, trying to be a know it all, already goofing off and not working hard... it's just so ANNOYING" I look at Heather and she shrugs in response.
"Well... Maybe he's just trying to be comfortable and make friends? I mean you officially started working with him a few hours ago so maybe-"
"No, Gwen" Trent holds up his hand to stop me from defending Duncan's possible lack of work ethic. "he's the worst... I'm telling you." I shrug in response. When Trent has his mind set on something, you can't really change it.
"Well... I have to get ready so don't watch me get changed... or do... I really don't care" I say to both Heather and Trent, but mostly Trent. Trent smirks in response.
"okay... I'll try to resist"

The first rush was not as busy as the predicted, which made my shift a little bit easier for when it's time to close down. I start to clean the front counter and the fryer tray in the back when I hear a voice behind me.
"God this job fucking sucks... Can I just quit already?" I don't turn around, as I already recognized the voice
"You wanna quit after 1 month? What, you can't take the heat?" I hear a deep chuckle
"Oh, I can take the heat... but I can't stand the fucking customers who think they're above everyone else. I just want to punch them so badly"
"Well... that would be a fast way to quit a job" I joke "just punch a customer in the face, BOOM! You don't have this job anymore. Seems like an easy solution to me" I finally turn around and see Duncan's piercing eyes staring at me, his smirk sliding across his face like it is permanently stuck there.
"Don't tempt me, sweetheart" I smirk back and then see Trent coming from behind Duncan.
"Gwen!" Trent says to me, waving his arm in the air. "I'm leaving now and you should be going on your break! Let's just leave the bar together!" I smile at Trent and give him a thumbs up.
"Guess I better go, before I get yelled at for staying longer than needed before the next rush" Duncan holds his hand up to stop me from walking away
"Well... technically this is my break too so let's all go together, the three of us"
I mean... that makes sense. I mean sure, why not?
"Sure, why not?" I respond and smile. Duncan and I both walk around the corner towards Trent, who is leaning on the back counter and waiting. He jumps up upon seeing me, and then his eyes narrow as he sees Duncan closely behind.
"Um... why is he coming along?"
Duncan crosses his arms and gives Trent a glare "Becaaaauuusee it's my break too? Why? Are you trying to have Gwen all to yourself? That's not very nice" I hear Trent quietly growl to himself.
"Ugh, whatever. Come on let's go" the three of us leave the bar, obviously to Trent's dismay. We walk in silence, though I can feel a weird tension between Trent and Duncan as I walk in the middle of them. We get to the staff room and Trent goes straight to his locker and grabs his book bag.
"Well Gwen, until the next time we work together" Trent gives me a nod and looks at Duncan before leaving the staff room.
"Geez, what's got his boxers in a twist?" Duncan mumbles grabbing his wallet. I shrug and grab mine as well.
"Oh well. Let's just leave it for now and just enjoy our supper" I smile and start walking out to the concessions counter to order my food.
I knew he didn't like Duncan... but I didn't know he hated him THAT much...
