"You look so pretty Tío Bruno." Dolores smiled as she put even more glitter in his hair.

"We are going to make you the prettiest in the whole world." Isabela placed flowers in all places possible.

"Can I look?" He asked his Sobrinas, slowly opening one eye.

"No!" The two screamed as the slapped their hand over his eyes. "No peaking!" Isabela demanded.

"Okay, Okay. I'm sorry." He laughed closing his eyes nice and tight. "No peaking, I promise."

Isabela turned to her right where the pile of flowers used to sit.

"No!" She cried.

"What?" Bruno sat up straighter hearing his niece in distress, opening up his eyes.

"I ran out of flowers!" She whined, only then noticing his open eyes staring at her. "No peaking!" She gasped, doing her best to cover his eyes.

Isabela stood up, pulling Dolores up as well. She led the girl over to a corner.

"What are we gonna do?" Dolores asked.

"You stay here and make Tío Bruno the most beautifulest."

"What about you?"

"I'm gonna find more flowers."

"Okay."

Dolores and Isabela parted ways, Dolores heading back to Bruno and Isabela towards the garden.

"Wait!" Dolores called out, causing Isabela to turn around.

"What?" She asked.

"Here." Dolores handed her a small basket. "Now you can put them all in here."

Isa smiled, thanking her before continuing on her way.

oOoOoOoOoOoOo

Once outside she began analysing the wide range she could see. She knew almost none of their names, but she did know that they were very pretty.

Isabela could recognise the range of roses that grew, the orchids and the daisies. She walked towards the flowerbed, slightly lifting her dress up to take a step over the divider.

As soon as crossed into the dirt she dropped the dress allowing the hem to drag through the soil. She stepped carefully, determined not to step on a small bush. She leaned down to find a pink plant, green at the bottom and leaves and pink flowers sprouting out. Their petals were thin and curved.

Isa smiled before gently placing a few in the basket. She continued walking looking for just the right flowers. Then she tripped and landed face first in the dirt.

"Oopsies." She shrugged, doing her best to wipe off the fresh first now staining the front of her dress. She quickly looked down to the basket in her hands to see the freshly picked flowers weren't there. "Oh no!" She cried out, rushing to pick up the fallen flowers.

She sighed as she placed them back into the basket before her eyes landed on another plant. This one was blue, it looked similar to the previous flower but these petals were larger and not so curved, similar to that of a rose.

She placed a few bunches into the basket again before searching for even more. Then she saw them. Her favourite flower. Lilacs. She rushed towards the tree picking bundles and bundles, smiling and giggling all the while.

After her basket was full she began to head back inside to join her Prima and Tío. She stopped by the door to see her Mamá's favourite flower. She didn't know its name but she knew she loved it. She went to continue her stride before another thought stopped her.

If Mamá got a flower then she should get one for Tía Pepa and Abuela too.

She placed her Mamá's flower gently on top, leaving the basket on Casita's step. She picked a yellow rose for Tía Pepa, it was her favourite after all. She did her best to avoid the thorns, she'd ask Tío Bruno to get rid of them later, before slowly walking towards the orchids.

Isabela hated orchids. They were just too perfect, even when they looked weird or different from the others they still looked perfect. But, for some reason, they were her Abuela's favourite. They made her Abuela happy, so she would pick one for her. Begrudgingly she picked one for her placing it alongside the other two.

oOoOoOoOoOoOo

She skipped back inside to meet Bruno and Dolores.

"I'm back!" She sang as she placed the basket down.

"Those are pretty!" Dolores pointed at the flowers in the basket. She went to reach for the three placed on top.

"No!" Isabela yelled, swiping at her cousin's hands. "Those are for Mamá, Tía Pepa and Abuela." She told.

"Sorry, I didn't know." Dolores apologised.

"It's fine. We can use the others though." She said as she took out the three flowers placing them on the side table near the door with Casita's help of course.

"What are they?" Dolores questioned, pointing at the remaining flowers.

"Flowers." Isa laughed.

"What type?"

"I don't know, but they are pretty. Well… I know that one is lilac." She pointed to the mass about of lilac.

"That's your favourite."

"Yep."

Isabela tipped them out on the floor before putting the two unknown flowers in front of Bruno's face.

"Tío." She said demandingly. "What are these?" She asked.

"Am I allowed to open my eyes?" He smirked.

"Duh."

He stopped for a moment looking between the two, doing his best to decipher what they are.

"Well. In my professional opinion, these are, pause for dramatic effect. I have no idea." He looked at the girls.

"What? But you're a grown up!" Isabela said surprised.

"Yeah," Dolores added. "Grown ups know everything."

Bruno laughed at that. Before he could say anything the front door opened and in walked Alma and their parents, Julieta carrying baby Luisa in her arms.

"Well… What happened here?" Félix asked, laughing as he took in his surroundings.

"Papí!" Dolores called out and ran towards her father. He scooped her up in a tight hug, placing a kiss on her cheek, followed by Pepa peppering her face with kisses. "Isa and me made Tío Bruno pretty. Do you like it?" She asked.

Bruno turned to face the group, his face covered in glitter and flowers embedded in his hair.

"I think you should make him pretty more often." He answered with a laugh.

"Oh! Isa got Mamí, Tía and Abuela flowers."

"Hey, that was my surprise." Isabela whined before running to the side table before having Casita assist her in collecting the flowers.

"Mamí." She said as she gave her Mamá the flower.

"Tía." She held out the flower for Pepa to take. "Careful of the prickles. I couldn't get them off yet." She then stood in front of Alma.

"Abuela." She offered the flower to her as well.

"Mija, how did you get so dirty?" She asked.

"I fell in the dirt trying to get the flowers." She said innocently. "I wasn't hurt though." She smiled proudly. "I'm not like Papí." She added.

That final line caused all the adults to laugh.

"Gracias a Dios por eso." Agustín responded.

"Ay, nieta… you left a trail of dirt behind you." She sighed. "And your dress is filthy."

"Mamá, leave her be, she's still a child."

"But I like it better this way." Isabel spoke up. "Now I don't have to worry about getting dirty."

"Not to mention it now has style." Bruno joined in, adding jazz hands as he said the final word, causing the toddlers to laugh.

Alma could help but shake her head at her son's actions.

"Just be more careful por favor."

"Sí, Abuela. Oh!" Isa gasped. She went to pick up the flowers she had presented to Bruno earlier before running back to her mother.

"Mamá, what are these flowers called? And that one?" She pointed to the one in her mothers hand.

"That one is called hyacinth, that one is called delphinium and this one, is an aster flower."

"Oh."

"What's wrong amor?" Her Papá asked.

"I just thought that they would have cooler names."
