I don't own Total Drama and The Walking Dead.
Sorry if you find any grammar mistakes. I'm still learning English because it's not my first language.
wood21: I'm glad you liked it! :)
Brendan: Here you go and I'm not planning to anyone to join Rick, Chef and Carol :)
Ms. Sleepy Clover: Glad to see you still reading! Going with Terry to find Andrea instead of heading off with Dr. Stevens to the car may have been reckless and risky as hell for Courtney to do which ultimately led her to her own demise, but she just wanted to make sure her friend was going to make it out alive.
Carol leaned against the wall in a room in the A block, and started running her fingers through the knife which she used to kill Karen and David, awaiting for the person she was planning to talk with to appear on the other side of the glass in the middle of the room. She looked up from her knife when she heard someone open the doors on the other side of the glass and saw Lizzie.
"Ma'am?" The young girl called out for Carol who set her gaze on her.
Carol walked over to the glass, "Hey, Lizzie."
"They told me to come down here." Lizzie explained as Carol stopped in front of her, glass being the only thing separating them.
"Are you okay?" Carol asked her to which Lizzie nodded, "Good. I wanted to see you because I'm going on a run with Rick and Chef."
Lizzie nodded before asking, "Do you think Daryl's dead?"
"No." Carol shook her head, "He had to go far away to get the medicines, so it's gonna take a while. We lost all our food in cell block D, so we're gonna go look for more and whatever else we can find."
"Nobody's died yet." Lizzie declared.
Carol titled her head to the side, "Yet?"
"I think a lot of people are going to die." Lizzie explained, "It's what always happens. Makes me sad, but... at least they get to come back."
"Lizzie, when they come back, they aren't..." Carol paused for a second, "People aren't who they were."
"Yeah, but they're something." Lizzie stated, "They're someone. I'm little now. If I don't die, I'll get big. I'll be me, but I'll be different. It's how it is. We all change. We all don't get to stay the same way we started."
Carol shook her head, "Lizzie, it's more complicated..."
"You said I was weak." Lizzie cut her off, "I'm not. I'm strong, so I'm telling you what I think."
"You remember what I told you to do when there's danger?" Carol asked her, wanting to be sure if Lizzie remembered it.
She didn't had to wait long for response, "Run as fast as I can."
"You run and run until you're safe." Carol told her, "And if it's your life or your sister's life, you can't be afraid to kill. Understand?"
Lizzie nodded, "Yes."
"You are strong, Lizzie. You're gonna live." Carol said, "You, your sister, and me- we're gonna survive, I know it. Where's your knife?" Lizzie responded by lifting her shirt up a bit, revealing a knife hidden underneath it, "Put your T-shirt behind it. You've gotta be able to get to it quickly."
"Yes, Mom." Lizzie's eyes widened when she realized how she just called Carol. She quickly corrected her mistake, "I mean ma'am."
"Don't call me "Mom.". Just don't." Carol told her, "What is it?"
"I'm not afraid to kill." Lizzie admitted, "I'm just afraid."
"You can't be." Carol told her.
"How?" Lizzie wanted to know.
"You fight it. And fight it. You don't give up." Carol explained, "And then one day, you just change. We all change."
The group that went out to get the medicine was discussing what they should do next after they drove into the herd and lost their vehicles in the process. Daryl, Michonne, Bob, Oscar, Alejandro, Duncan, Trent and Eva were looking at the map of their surroundings as Tyreese was washing his clothes in the nearby stream.
Duncan pointed at one spot on the map, "We're here."
'This is Turner Creek" Michonne nodded in agreement, "So Barnesville must be a few miles downstream."
"Sounds like our best chance at finding a new ride." Bob stated.
Trent shifted his attention between everyone around him, "Do you think we'll find a working ride there?"
"I sure hope so, man." Oscar replied.
"Only one way to find out." Daryl stated, putting the map aside, as turned around to look at Tyreese, "Yo, Ty. Come on, let's go. VĂ¡monos."
He, Michonne, Duncan, Alejandro, Bob, and Oscar started heading towards their new destination and Trent and Eva were about to follow them but stopped themselves from doing so when they noticed that Tyreese acted as he didn't even heard what Daryl just said to him.
"Ty! Ty!" Trent called out to him, but Tyreese kept his gaze on the stream, "There should be a town a few miles south."
"Lost a whole night." Tyreese spoke up to them, "My sister, everybody else- they're probably dead."
"And what if they're still alive? They're not going to stay alive for long if you keep slowing us down." Eva crossed her arms as Trent send her a quick look. She shrugged her shoulders at him. She knew that Tyreese was a grieving man but his attitude was starting to annoy her. They had to hurry if they wanted to save as many people as possible.
"Well, it helps to keep moving." Trent said, trying to cover Eva's harsh words.
Tyreese looked up at them, "No, it doesn't."
It's been a while since Rick, Chef and Carol left the prison. The Hyundai with all three of them inside was driving through the abandoned forested road. Rick was sitting in front, his hands on the steering wheel, with Carol sitting next to him as Chef was sitting in the back.
Carol gazed through the window of her seat, before breaking the silence, "Maggie and Geoff wanted to come, you know."
"We know." Chef told her, "Bu we decided that it would be better if they stayed in the prison and watch over everything."
"Someone had to stay back, watch over things." Rick added, his gaze set on the road ahead of them.
"Someone you trust, you mean." Carol stated, "They would have drowned in their own blood. They were suffering. I made it quick. We needed the bodies gone. We needed to stop it from spreading. They were the only ones who were sick. They were a threat. I was trying to save lives. I had to try. Somebody had to."
Chef reimained silent at Carol's attempt to justify her murdering Karen and David as Rick responded with a simple, "Maybe."
The supply group walked through the forested path. Michonne and Daryl walked in the front of the group, with Bob, Tyreese, Oscar, Alejandro, Duncan, Trent and Eva walking behind them. Something on the ground caught Dary's attention. He knelt down and picked up a dirty rock. He started cleaning it up as Michonne looked down at him.
Michonne instantly recognized what kind of a rock, or rather gem it was, "Is that jasper?"
Daryl nodded in confirmation, "Mm-hmm."
"It's a good color. Brings out your eyes." Michonne said in a joking manner, grin growing on her lips when Daryl looked up at her with a besumed look on his face.
The Dixon got himself back on his feet from her kneeling position, "When Miss Richards went into A block, we were leaving. Asked me to keep a lookout. I'm gonna use it for her old man's marker."
"You know all of them back there?" Michonne asked him.
"You stay in one place more than a couple hours, you'd be surprised what you pick up." Daryl responded, beginning to walk again as Michonne let out a sigh before following him.
Rick, Carol and Chef had just arrived at their destination. The sheriff deputy parked the Hyundai in front of the abandoned car. The group of three got themselves out of the Hyundai and walked over to the trunk of their vehicle. Chef opened it and took his bag and M16 out, as Rick and Carol followed his example and took out their stuff as well.
Carol closed the trunk as Chef and Rick started walking along the sidewalk, but quickly stopped when the abandoned car caught their attention because it had "Pardon Our Dust" written over it's dirty windows. Rick opened the front door of the vehicle as Chef opened the door to the passenger seat, beginning to search through the vehicle.
Carol who stood behind them asked, "Think they're coming back?"
"Windshield's clean, wiped down." Rick pointed at the clean front window of the car, "Can't have been here more than a day, maybe."
"You mean Daryl and the others." Carol said as Chef and Rick got themselves out of the car, "That's what this is, right? In case they don't?"
"Until they do. That's what this is." Chef told her, "Medicine cabinets, first aid kits- anything that could help Hershel and DJ. We get in, we get out. And if we can eat it, we take it."
The supply group made their way to the old hardware store. Daryl separated himself from the group because something's caught Daryl's attention in the nearby bushes. He walked over to the bushes and moved them away a bit, taking a quick peek at what was on the other side.
"You see something in there, redneck?" Duncan asked his friend, turning to look at him.
Daryl responded by removing a couple of more bushes, revealing a minivan and a 2000 Black Buick Century to his group, "We should check if we can get them to work."
Duncan felt how a small grin formed on his lips, "This day just got a bit better."
Everyone agreed with him and moved towards the vehicles. For the next few minutes, Daryl and Oscar were attempting to start up the vehicles as the rest of the group removed the bushes that were covering them.
Daryl got himself out of the minivan after failing to start it up and declared, "We gotta find us a new battery."
"Same here." Oscar informed the group, getting himself out of the Buick Century.
Trent sighed when he heard that. Of course the cars had some missing parts. It would too easy if they were perfectly fine. The good thing is that it was only the car battery. He turned to look at the dirty window of the hardware store and jumped back when a single walker slammed it's hand against it, which was followed by a few more walkers letting out grunts and growls, "Guys. They are inside."
"Let's go." Eva said right after hearing this information, beginning to move towards the front entrance to the store.
"Let's clear a path." Daryl said, following the jockness, "See how many we got."
The group made their way to the entrance to the store and it was when another problem arose. The bushes were not only covering the vehicles, but also the entire front of the store. Everyone pulled out their blades and started cutting through the bushes. Everyone were doing their best to be careful as they cut down bush after bush, remembering that at least a few walkers in the store. Tyreese was the only exception. He started rapidly bringing his blade down on the bushes in an agressive manner, which everyone quickly noticed.
"Tyreese, amigo." Alejandro called out to him, "Go easy. We don't know what we're dealing with."
Tyreese ignored him and continued to bring his blade down on the bushes. He let out an annoyed grunt as it got stuck in something. He started trying to get it out of the thing that it got stuck in as the rest of the group stopped what they were doing and send him a quick look. He finally managed to get his blade out of the thing that it got stuck in. It was just a wire which he started taking off right after he took a quick glance at it, intending to return what he was doing a few moments earlier as fast as possible.
Duncan turned away from Tyreese and was about to return to what he was doing, but didn't had a chance to do so as a rotting hand reached out for him. His eyes widened as the undead grabbed him by his clothes, "Shit!"
He quickly freed himself from the walker's grasp and got rid of the undead with a simple stab to it's head as more walkers started popping out of the bushes. The group started taking care of each walker that reached out for them through the bushes, with the ones that already took take care of theirs helping the ones who were having problem with theirs.
It was just a matter of time before there was only one walker left. Tyreese kept his hands on the walker that reached out for him, intending to push it into the ground but the bushes were preventing him from doing so, and ignoring that everyone from his group were telling him to let go off it.
It took him a few more seconds to pull the walker out of the bushes which were preventing it from attacking him. He reached for his blade and was about to kill it of, but not everything went according to his plan. The walker shoved him to the ground and got himself on top of it, but fortunely for Tyreese, Bob came in his rescue and finished the walker off with one shot to it's head.
"When you will stop doing that?" Eva asked him, anger evident in her voice as Oscar got Tyreese back on his feet. The beanie wearing man looked at her, "Ty, I understand that you're grieving, and I'm sorry about what happened to Karen, but you're going to get yourself and us killed if you keep being so reckless!"
She received no answer from Tyreese. The dark skinned man just let out one deep breath after another.
Rick slowly opened the doors of the house and entered it, followed by Chef and Carol. They split up and started searching through it. Chef went into the kitchen and started searching through the cabinets, hoping to find something useful, but unfortunely finding nothing as Rick checked the bathroom and found some medication in the cabinets while Carol stood on the guard, in case if something was going to happen.
Rick came out of the bathroom and walked over to Carol as Chef approached them shorty after. The group of three turned ther attention towards the stairs to the upper floor when they heard familiar grunting and growling. A single walker started coming down the stairs, and tripped after taking two steps. The undead fell down the stairs, as Carol pulled out her knife and placed it in it's brain.
She pulled her knife out of it's head before the sound of someone opening the doors on the upper floor rang through her, Rick's and Chef's ears. The latter two readied their weapons and aimed at them at the stairs, ready to use them at any moment before a woman and a man appeared in their view, holding out fruits towards them.
"Whoa, whoa. It's cool." The man said, trying to calm the situation down, "We're cool."
"We have fruit." The woman added, nervously.
"Yeah." The unknown man nodded, "We got apricots, peaches. Here, catch." He threw one peach down the stairs, but Chef, Carol and Rick kept their eyes on him and his friend, "Or, you know, don't."
Rick exchanged a look with Chef and Carol, wondering if they should trust these people or not. They seemed completely harmless but it could have been just an act to make people think they're not dangerous just to attack them when they'll get good moment to do so. It was something else caught their attention. The man was wounded and it seemed to be a fresh wound.
Ultimately the group of three decided to give this man and a woman a chance. The strangers who introduced themselves as Sam and Ana led them into their room on the upper floor where Carol started taking care of Sam's wounded shoulder.
"How'd this happen?" Carol asked Sam, taking care of the said man's shoulder.
"Greenhouse around the corner." Sam explained.
"We were looking for a place to crash." Ana added, "The roof's broken now and it's been getting rain, so it's full of fruit. We were there about a day and the skin-eaters showed up."
Sam laughed, "Killjoys, man. Jackin' it up for the whole world. I thought everybody was an asshole before this all went down. Now I love people. You know- people who are alive."
"How did it happen?" Carol repeated her question from earlier.
"When they were coming in through the door, I tripped crawling out the other side." Sam explained, "Pulled the glass out, but my shoulder- it still hurts like a bitch."
"It's dislocated." Carol stated.
"Can you fix it?" Ana wanted to know.
"Here, lay on your back." Carol said as she removed everything from the table as Sam laid down on it, "Okay, scooch over to the edge. Just hold your arm..." Sam placed his hand on his shoulder as Carol handed the bag over to him, "Grab ahold of this bag. Hold on." Sam grabbed the bag with his other hand before Carol fixed his dislocated shoulder, making him let out a series of deep breaths, "Sit up."
"Is it?" Ana asked as Sam sat down on the table.
Sam nodded, smilling, "Yeah."
"It's gonna be sore for a few days." Carol explained, as she started taking care of Sam's wounded shoulder again.
"After the greenhouse, you came here?" Rick asked them.
"Yeah." Sam nodded, "We thought it was clear. We missed the deadie in the PJs, so we dove into the bathroom."
"So how long were you up there till we showed up?" Chef spoke up.
"Like, two days." Ana replied.
"There was just one as I recall you telling us." Chef said, "You had guns."
"We have about 12 bullets." Ana explained, letting out a small laugh, "It usually take us about five or six to bring one of them down."
"But you have knives." Carol pointed out.
"To what, stab it in the head?" Sam asked her.
Carol nodded, "Yeah."
"We got separated from our crew about a week ago." Sam began, "Been trying to play it safe since it's just the two of us."
"I have to with my leg." Ana added, rubbing Sam's back, as Carol, Chef and Rick looked down at her injured leg, "We were at a refugee center together and there was a fire. People were just trampling over me. Assholes. Sam saved my life. We didn't know each other before. It didn't heal right, but it healed. And we found each other. It was worth it."
"Where are you two headed next?" Rick asked them.
"We just keep moving. We haven't been waiting for places to go bad. I mean, it's getting a little old." Sam replied, pointing at his wounded shoulder.
"You guys look all right." Ana stated, "What's your setup like?"
Chef exchanged a look with Rick before folding his arms, "The "skin-eaters"? We call them walkers."
Rick took a few steps towards Sam and Ana, "How many have you killed?"
Duncan stood in the entrance to the hardware store, watching how Daryl, Bob and Oscar were searching through it, looking for the car batteries that could help them to get the minivan and Buick Century to work and for any supplies that their group could use in any way. He turned his gaze away from Daryl, Bob and Oscar and started heading towards Alejandro, Trent and Eva who were watching over their surroundings. Alejandro saw Duncan coming his way and instantly turned away, intending to head somewhere else.
"You know what I'm done with it!" The juvie exclaimed right after Alejandro started walking away, anger starting to show in his voice, "I already told you so many times that I don't blame you for what Jose did to Courtney, and yet you're still avoiding me as if I wanted to kill you!"
"I know." Alejandro told him, stopping and turning around to look at Duncan, "It's not about what Jose did to Courtney. I know I'm not responsible for his doings. It's something else."
"That thing is?" Duncan wanted to know.
"It's about what would happen to me if I was with Jose when it all started instead of all of you." Alejandro explained, "I just can't help but think what would happen to me if I was with him. Would I become what he became during his time in the Governor's group? This question just keeps popping into my mind."
"I think I know how you feel." Duncan said, his anger disappearing from his tone as Alejandro looked at him, curious, "Remember back at Hershel's farm when I was out looking for Sophia and returned wounded with Chef?"
"That time when you returned with a cut on your cheek?" Alejandro wanted to be sure if Duncan was referring to this situation.
"That one." Duncan nodded in confirmation, "We lied. I came across an old buddy of mine. His name was Timothy. We talked for a while before he invited me to go with him and met his group leader, Harlan. I declined because I knew that something was off and he tried to kill me. I would probably die that day if it wasn't for Chef showing up and killing him."
"What?" Alejandro exclaimed in suprise, "Why didn't you tell us about that?"
"We wanted to, but after everything that happened on the farm after that, like Sophia dying, or the entire fiasco with Shane and Randall, it just never came up, you know?" Duncan explained to which Alejandro nodded in understanding, "
"He had a picture with him. A picture of two young girls." Duncan continued, "After Rick, Chef, Chris, DJ, Hershel and Glenn brought Randall to the farm, I asked him about this picture."
"Randall?" Alejandro quickly realized why Duncan would want to talk with Randall about Timothy, "Were they from the same group?"
"Yes." Duncan confirmed it, "Chef told me that he asked the two guys he and the rest came across in the town mentioned him. I asked him about the girls from the picture and he told me exactly what happened to them. I don't want to go into details but what these guys, including Timothy did to them and their father was far away from something acceptable in todays world standards."
Alejandro and Trent, even Eva cringed at the scenarios that flew through their minds when Duncan mentioned things that Timothy and his group did to these young girls. Perharps Duncan keeping the details to himself was for the best.
The juvie let out a sigh after seeing their expressions, knowing that he made the right choice by not going into details, before continuing, "What I'm trying to say to you is that I've been having similiar thoughts for a while after my encounter with Timothy because to be honest there is a huge posibility that I would be a part of the group like his if I wasn't with you guys when it all started. As time passed, I just stopped having those thoughts because I realized that it doesn't matter what would become of me if I was at different place at the moment when all of this started. The same thing is with your brother. What would become of you if you were with him doesn't matter. What you are right now is what matters."
"Gracias, amigo," Alejandro offered Duncan a grateful nod right after Duncan finished speaking, "For what you just said."
"No problem." Duncan shrugged as he turned to look at Trent, coming up with an idea what he should do to light up the mood a bit, "Now that we've dealt with this, we should talk about one of reasons why Elvis here decided to join us on this supply run."
"What?" Trent asked, confused, "What are you talking about?"
"Gwen." Duncan explained, as Trent became nervous at the mention of the goth, "I've seen you looking at her for a long time now."
"Me too." Alejandro added, grinning at Trent's nervous expression, "And so did mi amor. It wasn't too hard to not notice. You instantly volunteered to go when you found out that she is infected with the flu."
Trent flushed, knowing that there was no point in lying if Alejandro and Duncan saw through him, "I just want to make sure she is safe. She is one of my closest friends and I would gladly risk my life for her."
Alejandro gave Trent a pat on his back, "If you really think like that, then I think you should go for it, amigo."
"What?" Trent said, suprised by Alejandro going straight to the point.
"I don't need to repeat myself, amigo. I can see that you care about Gwen, deeply." Alejandro said, "I started having thoughts like yours when I realized that I was harboring feelings for Heather, and look at us now."
Duncan grinned, "What he said. I think you should go for it, man."
Eva shook her head, irritated by their lovey dovey talk, "You're making me sick."
"You're the one to talk." Trent chuckled, "Did you forget about that one time when you and Izzy gave the briefcase with money to Justin back on the island?"
Eva looked away in shame, "I was so ashamed after I realized what I did."
Trent's smile faded away and the musican let out a saddened sigh when he realized that he just mentioned Justin, "...I miss Justin."
Eva nodded her head in a saddened manner, "Me too."
Rick, Chef and Carol were close to finishing packing up the supplies that they found in the house where they came across Sam and Ana into their bags. Sam and Ana watched them from the other side of the room.
"We got about all we're gonna get here." Carol stated as she finished packing stuff into her bag, "We should move on."
"So, did we pass your test?" Sam asked in a very hopeful tone.
"We're in a prison eight miles north. If you come back with us, we can't guarantee your safety." Rick replied, turning to look at the pair, "There's an illness, a flu. It's bad.
"That's a gentle way of putting it." Chef sighed, "We've lost a lot of people. My closest friend has recently been infected with the flu."
"Kids too." Carol added.
Ana looked at her, "Yours?"
"No, thank God." Carol answered, "But one of my girls, she's got it."
"I'm sorry." Ana offered her condolences.
"She's strong." Carol assured Ana, slouching her bag over her shoulder, "She'll make it."
"You got fences and walls?" Sam asked to which Rick and Chef nodded in confirmation, "We're in."
"Yeah." Ana nodded in agreement, "Yeah, whatever you need us to do."
"For now, sit tight." Chef told them, "The three of us will circle back for you before dark."
"Or you could help us sweep the rest of this neighborhood." Carol suggested.
"We can do that." Ana nodded, "I can check the greenhouse, see if it's clear, bring back more fruit."
"And I can hit some of the houses." Sam offered.
"Well, it's nice of you to offer, but your shoulder's barely..." Rick was interrupted in the middle of the sentence.
Sam cut him off, "As long as I don't put too much weight on this arm, I'm good. We won't take any chances. We'll look. And if it's cake, we'll do it. If not, we'll just roll." He pointed at Rick's bandaged hand, "I mean, you don't look so good yourself, man. Are you a righty or a lefty?"
"We'll cover more ground." Carol stated, turning around towards the exit from the room, "The sooner we get back."
"You can't carry us, man." Sam said, "It doesn't work that way."
"Please, we want to help." Ana insisted.
Rick exchanged a look with Chef and nodded his head at him. Chef nodded in return before reaching into his bag and pulling out two handguns. He held them out to Sam and Ana, "You fire a shot, we'll come running. Let's meet back here in two hours. You'll need this.
After sevearal minutes of searching through the hardware store, Daryl, Oscar and Bob eventually managed to find what they needed to fix the minivan and the Buick Century. They were outside the hardware store at this moment. Daryl and Oscar were preparing the cars, the cigarette between the former's teeth and Bob was watching over them.
Bob looked down Oscar, wanting to start a conversation with either him or Daryl, "Where did you learned that?"
Oscar wiped his hands on his jumpsuit and turned his gaze away from his work for a moment, "Did you forget that I was in the prison before this shit started?"
Bob titled his head to the side, "I thought you were jailed for breaking and entering."
"How did you think I was getting out of the crime scenes when the police was on my tail?" Oscar asked Bob in return, earning a nod from the other man, "Too bad it didn't work one day and it resulted in me ending up in that prison. I used to hate that place."
"Used to?" Bob repeated what Oscar just said, "I guess it must have changed when you found out what happened to the world."
"Exactly." Oscar nodded in confirmation, "I used to hate that place, but after Rick along with Daryl here and the rest appeared and set us free, I started feeling relieved that I was in there during the first days of all this. This is why I decided to stick around Rick's group and I'll never regret it. I kinda wish that my buddies Axel and Big Tiny lived long enough to see what this place has become. I'll fight for it, if it will ever come to that, and I will gladly die while doing so."
"Bob." Daryl joined the conversation, earning the said man's and Oscar's attention, "You never told us about the group you were with before."
"Which one?" Bob responded, "You know, when you, Duncan and Geoff found me out on that road, I almost kept walking."
"Why is that?" Daryl wanted to know.
"Cause I was done being a witness. Two times, two different groups. I was the last one standing." Bob explained, "Like I was supposed to see it happen over and over, like it's some kind of curse. But, when it's just you out there with the quiet... Used to be I'd drink a bottle of anything just so I could shut my eyes at night. Figured the prison, the people, thought it'd be easier. The run to the big spot, I did it for me."
"You gotta keep busy." Daryl stated to which Oscar nodded in agreement.
"No. I did it so I could get me a bottle." Bob glanced down, ashamed of his actions, "Of anything. I picked it up, I held it in my hand, but I put it down. I put it down so hard it took the whole damn shelf with it. That's what brought on the walkers, and that's what got Zach killed."
Oscar shared a look with Daryl before shaking his head, "That's bullshit, man."
Daryl nodded in agreement, "Sasha, Chef and me picked that spot. He took you with us. There ain't no way anybody could've known. You ain't gonna be standing alone, not no more."
Rick, Chef and Carol were searching through the room in one of the houses. Chef and Carol were searching through the drawers and Rick was searching through the closet at the other side of the room.
"It's all expired by at least a year." Carol stated, looking at the medication that they found during this supply un.
Chef shrugged, "Better to take it. Let Hershel and DJ decide what they need."
"Did you think it was right?" Rick asked them, continuing to search through the closet, "Letting those kids come back with us?"
Chef nodded in confirmation, "They're good kids. I don't think they're going to cause any harm to our people once we'll bring them to the prison."
"Besides, I think it was the humane thing to do." Carol added, closing the drawer she was searching through, "If they're strong enough to help us survive this thing, yeah, I think you made the right call."
"And if they're not?" Rick wanted to know, glancing over his shoulder at the short haired woman,
"Let's hope they are." Carol replied, beginning to search through another drawer.
"Yeah." Rick nodded as Chef nodded his head at Carol's words. deciding to stay silent.
The supply group got out of the minivan and the Buick Century and walked into streets. They veterinaty college appeared in the view as they finally reached their destination. Good thing that Daryl, Bob and Oscar found the car batteries in the hardware because if they didn't, then they would surely still be a long way from the veterinary college.
"Looks like we're getting closer." Daryl stated, looking at the building ahead of them.
"The building we want is just up ahead." Tyreese pointed out, his gaze set on the building ahead of them.
"Let's hope they'll have what we need." Trent said.
Duncan nodded in agreement, 'You can say that again, Elvis."
They group of nine walked over to the entrance to the veterinary college and walked through it, entering the building. They started walking through the hallways, searching for the room where they were hopefully going to find the medicine.
"Hey, Eva." Eva turned to the source of the voice and saw Tyreese.
"What?" Eva asked him as the group entered one of the rooms in the building.
"It is about what you said earlier." Tyreese explained, "You were right. I may be grieving, but If I'm going to keep behaving like I did since we headed out, then I'm going to get myself and the rest of you killed.
A rare smile grew on Eva's lips, "I'm glad you understand that, Ty. What I said might have been harsh, but I said that because we don't want to lose you. This group needs you."
Tyreese returned her smile as the group exited the room, walking back into the hallways. Alejandro stopped in the doorway when he realized that Bob was missing. He walked back into the room and called out, "Hey, Bob! You're coming or what?"
Bob stood up from his kneeling position on the other side of the room, "Right behind you!"
Rick, Chef and Carol exited the house they were searching through for the past several minutes and walked into the garden which must have belonged to the owners of the said house. The garden wasn't anything extraodinary, but had a couple of fruit plants which some fresh fruits growing on them. The group of three knelt down in front of the plants and started picking the fruits.
Rick looked at Carol as he placed another fruit in his bag, "How'd you put his shoulder back before? You learn that from Hershel?"
"Internet." Carol explained, "It's easier than telling an ER nurse I'd fallen down the stairs a third time."
"I'm sorry." Rick said, regretting that he asked her this question.
"Don't be." Carol told him, "Just fixed what needed fixin'. I actually convinced myself I was happy with him. Which wasn't all that hard to do considering my idea of happiness then was just not being alone. Made a decent living. He was charming when he wanted to be, especially those mornings after he'd come home piss-drunk and..." She paused for a second and shook her head, "Stupid. Stupid. I didn't think I could be strong. I didn't know I could. I already was."
"Why don't you say her name?" Chef wanted to know.
"She's dead, Chef." Carol explained, "Sophia. Dead. Somebody else's slideshow."
"Some mornings I still wake up half-expecting Lori to be there. Reminding me to pick up Carl after school or telling me breakfast is ready. Every Sunday she'd make us these pancakes that were just... godawful." Rick let out a chuckle as Chef and Carol chuckled as well, "Clumps of flour that weren't mixed in right. Thing was... she knew it was bad."
"Why'd she keep at it?" Carol asked, smilling as Chef kept his smile on his face as well.
"Well... she wanted us to be the kind of family that ate pancakes on Sunday." Rick explained.
"You're not the only one, Rick." Chef said, his smile slowly fading away from his lips, "Some mornings, I still wake up thinking I'm on the set of another episode of Total Drama and that I have to prepare another nasty meal for those kids and that I will have to listen to them complain about how uneatable it is. Except for Owen. The big guy loved everything I prepared for them."
Sometime later, Chef, Rick and Carol picked every fruit from the plants and headed out of the garden. Sam and Ana must have been waiting for them in the place where they were supposed to met up with them. It wasn't long before they spotted a fruit basket with several fruits laying around it. They slowly followed the fruit trail and it led them to severed leg.
They looked up from the severed leg and glanced ahead. They saw two walkers feasting on the lifeless corpse of Ana.
The veterinary college had everything the supply group needed to save their people from the flu. Michonne, Oscar, Trent and Eva were packing everything they needed into their bags while Bob was giving them instructions what they needed to take.
Tyreese, Duncan, Alejandro and Daryl walked into the room, carrying their own bags. Bob turned to look at them and asked, "How'd you do?"
"Bags, tubes, clamps, connectors." Tyreese replied, placing his bag on the desk, "Everything on the list."
"What about you?" Duncan asked.
"Yeah, we got it all." Bob answered.
"We're good." Trent added, shining his flashlights through the medication, making sure he didn't miss anything. "
Daryl nodded, slouching his bag over his shoulder, "All right, let's roll."
He headed out of the room, followed by the rest of the group. They started heading towards the exit from the college, walking through the messy and dark hallways, but unfortunely it was when they luck seemed to run out because they came across a few walkers on their way to the exit. They quickly ran over to the exit which led them into the dark room.
They started walking through the room, shining their flashlight, and searching for the exit from it. Michonne managed to find it after a few moments of searching through the room and started leading her group towards it, keeping her other hand on her katana, ready to unsheath it at any moment.
Eva gritted her teeth when a single walker came out from the shadows and lunged towards her. She reacted quickly to that. She grabbed the undead by it's clothes and slammed her hammer on top of it's head a few times, not stopping until there was nothing but a bloody mess left of it's brain. She quickly made her way back to her group and assured them that nothing severe happened to her.
The group of nine made their way to the exit from the room, but unfortunely for them it was locked with a padlock but it turned out to be a good thing because a large amount of the undead was on the other side.
"How many?" Alejandro asked.
"I can't tell." Michonne responded.
It was when everyone turned to the other side of the room and saw the walkers that they saw on the hallway a few moments ago entering the room. Trent shook his head, "We need to take them down.
"No." Bob shook his head, his pistol in ready, "They're infected. Same as at the prison. We fire at 'em, get their blood on us, breathe it in. We didn't come all this way to get sick."
"How do we know the ones in there aren't any different?" Oscar asked.
"We don't." Duncan replied.
Daryl walked over to the nearby table and broke it into pieces. Everyone readied their weapons, knowing what he was about to do as Daryl grabbed one of the chair's legs and used it to open the padlock, letting the walkers from the other side of the doors into their room. The group quickly got rid of all of them and ran through the now opened doors which led to the set of stairs.
They started running up the stairs, with the walkers from the hallway chasing them. The staircase took them to another hallway which turned out to be filled with the walkers which started coming out of every room on that floor. The ones who were in the front of the group started taking care of every walker that stood in their way as the ones who were in the back were throwing everything they got their hands on the floor, intending to slow down the undead that were chasing them.
They reached the exit but unfortunely for them it was closed and trying to open it up was going to waste their time. They needed to find another way out of this building and Tyreese quickly got an idea. He picked up fire extinguisher and threw it through the window at the end of the hallway, making it burst into hundreds of smaller pieces.
The group quickly jumped through the window onto the roof of an outside walkway, but it was when another problem arose because Bob nearly lost his bag when he jumped onto the roof as it almost dropped over the edge. He managed to hold on to it, almost falling down in the process as the walkers started gathering under the bag and him.
The rest of the group quickly hurried over to Bob, and started helping him and telling him to let go off the bag when they realized that it was too late to do anything about it, but he ignored their calls and ultimately succeeded in pulling it away from the walkers. The bag went flying and landed on the roof, spilling it's contest which turned out to be a single half emptied bottle of whiskey.
Daryl picked up the bottle and glared at Bob, showing it off to him, "You got no meds in your bag? Just this?" When Bob nodded in confirmation, the redneck said, "You should have kept walking that day."
He was about to throw the bottle away from them as Bob quickly reacted to that and placed his hand on his holster, "Don't."
Daryl's glare only got worse as he walked over to Bob and grabbed him by his collar, before disamaring him. Tyreese seeing that nothing good was going to come out of it spoke up to defuse the situation, "Just let it go, Daryl. The man's made his choice."
Oscar nodded in agreement, "Nothing you can do about it. Just gotta let it go, man."
"I didn't want to hurt nobody." Bob said, avoiding Daryl's glare, "It was just for when it gets quiet."
It was when realization popped into Alejandro's mind. He wasn't afraid to voice it, "This why you ended up under the liquor shelf when we were on the supply run in that supermarket."
Bob nodded in confirmation, "Yes. I was searching for a bottle of liquor but backed away from in the last second. I placed the bottle back on the shelf and it was when it fell down on me."
Eva glared at Bob and crossed her arms in anger, "Do you realize that we could have die because of you? That Zach died because of you?"
"I know." Bob admitted, glancing down, ashamed of his actions.
Daryl shoved the bottle into Bob's grasp, whispering to him, "Take one sip. When those meds get in our people, I will beat your ass into the ground. You hear me?"
Bob nodded his head, still avoiding Daryl's glare as the Dixon walked away from him. He walked over to the edge of the roof, away from the walkers, and the rest followed him, with Bob watching them walk away for a moment before grabbing his bag and following them. They jumped off the roof and made their way back to the minivan and the Buick Century.
Daryl, Bob, Oscar, Michonne and Tyreese got themselves into the minivan as Alejandro, Daryl, Eva and Trent got themselves into Buick Century. They quickly started up their vehicle and drove off, away from the college.
Their mission to find the medicine their group needed was complete.
Now they just needed to make it back to the prison in time and save as many people as possible.
Rick, Chef and Carol were busy packing everything they found into the trunk of the Hyundai. After finding Ana's body, the group of three waited for Sam to show up in the house but he never did which meant only one thing. He didn't make it out, just like Ana. Chef, Rick and Carol couldn't wait for him any longer because they'll people in the prison were waiting for them to return.
Carol walked over to the door to the passenger seat of the Hyundai and attempted to open it but it was closed. She turned her gaze towards Rick who spoke up to her, "They might have lived. Karen and David, they might have lived, and now they're dead. That wasn't your decision to make. When Tyreese finds out... he'll kill you."
"You saw what he did to Rick when he showed us Karen's and David's bodies with your own eyes." Chef added.
"I can handle Tyreese." Carol told them.
"I understand why you did what you did, Carol, but when the other people will find out about it, they will fear you." Chef said, "They won't want you there. They will tell us to kick out and it may cause more problems for our group to deal with."
"If everybody dies of this thing and it's just the two of us, with Judith and Carl- with my children... I won't have you there." Rick added.
Carol shifted her attention between them, "Guys, it's me. No one else has to know. Rick, I thought you were done making decisions for everyone."
Rick folded his arms, "I'm making this decision for me."
"I could have pretended that everything was gonna be fine." Carol said, "But I didn't. I did something. I stepped up. I had to do something."
"No, you didn't." Rick stated.
"If you think I'm going anywhere without Lizzie and Mika..." Carol was interrupted in the middle of the sentence.
"If you want them to leave, to go out there with you? Lizzie's sick. Mika is 10 years old." Chef cut her off, "I promise that we'll keep them safe. You have my word on that. I wish that there was a better way to handle this situation right now but with everything that is happening in the prison, I fear that his might be the best option."
"You're not that woman who was too scared to be alone, not anymore." Rick added, "You're gonna start over, find others, people who don't know, and you're gonna survive out here. You will."
Carol gave them an uncertain nod, "Maybe."
Chef and Rick walked over to the trunk of the Hyundai and started taking some of the supplies that they found in this town out of it. They took the amount of supplies that would allow Carol to survive on her own out of the trunk and placed everything in the trunk of the vehicle that once belonged to Sam and Ana, knowing that the pair was not going to need it anymore.
When everything was ready, they said their final goodbyes to Carol who walked over to the doors to the front seat of the vehicle and opened them. She gave Chef and Rick one last final look before getting herself into the vehicle driving off in her own direction.
Chef and Rick watched her leave for a few seconds and shared a quick look with each other knowing that Daryl and Duncan were not going to like their decision before getting into the Hyundai and driving away in the direction of the prison.
We're getting closer and closer to the prison battle...
I wanted to get this chapter done last week but I focused my attention on finishing the next chapter of my GOTG story (which turned out to be way longer than I excepted.".
At the end of this chapter, I'd like to share the ideas I have for the future stories related to TD with you. Let me know what you think about them! :)
The first idea and the most recent one is a crossover between with Resident Evil Village. This story would be a "What If" scenerio where instead of choosing Egypt to be the first country visited during this season, Chris would choose a country somewhere in Europe. The plane would end up crashing in the middle of nowhere and our characters would have to head into the mysterious village whose inhabitants are worshiping a figure known as "Mother Miranda" for the help, unaware of the danger they're getting themselves into.
(Yes, I know, I'm using the World Tour cast again. I can't really think of any other way how our characters would find themselves in Romania)
At the same time of their arrival, a man by the name of Ethan Winters would find himself in the village and begin his search for his missing daughter Rosemary. He'd eventually come across the TD crew and team up with them against everything that the village would throw their way, with only a few surviving in the end.
The second idea I'd like to share with you is an OC insert story called "Two More Players". This story would be a retelling of the first three seasons of TD with two OC's of mine (Wade Cooper and Nadia Carson) thrown into the mix.
The last idea I'd like to share with you is a side story to this story called "Tales of Total Drama Walking Dead". This story would basically show the stories of a certain TD characters and OC's before they came across Rick's group.
A few ideas that I will definitely do if I will ever end up doing this story (I'd like to give more but most of the characters I'm planning to do haven't appeared in this story)
Defection (A oneshot chapter about Rodney and how he tried to defect Woodbury, which ultimately resulted in his death by the hands of the Governor, a man he once trusted)
The Brother (A few chapters about Jose, starting with him and Carlos arriving at the army settlement and ending with him meeting the Governor)
The Journey (A few chapters about Geoff, Trent and Eva, starting with them along finding out about the outbreak along with Justin, Katie, Sadie and Beth and ending with them coming across Tyreese and his group)
Hope it wasn't that bad. See you in another chapter.
