Today was a busy day for Alec. All kids had doctors and dentists appointments. Him and Magnus included. Being the guardian of his siblings, Alec had to make sure they were up to date with their health and shot records. So Alec made sure to book everyone's appointments on the same day. The doctor's office Sariah and Riley goes to, accepted kids from newborn until eighteen. Max, Jace and Isabelle weren't happy with getting full check ups, but it didn't matter. They needed records for school.
"Bane and Lightwood." The nurse called for them, Alec rose, placing his girls on the floor so they could walk on their own. "Let's go. You can be upset all you want, but everyone is getting checked. Especially you two," Alec pointed at Jace and Izzy. They have been sexually active for who knows how long, and Alec was not going to take any chances. "There's no need to be embarrassed, I changed your asses, now march."
"Okay, the young one first." The nurse instructed the adults to remove the girls' clothing. She checked their vitals then showed them what room to go into. Magnus took the girls into the room whilst Alec stayed with the others. Once they were done with their vitals, she took them for their eye exams. Another appointment Alec had to book, because he himself needed glasses. Looking at computer screens all day and small text can strain your eyes.
"Alright each of you will be in different rooms, please get undressed. Your robes are on the bed. The doctor will be with you soon." The nurse placed their charts beside their doors and walked away.
"Okay guys, I'm going to check on the girls and Magnus. I will be back to check on you okay?"
"It's alright Alec, we can be left alone for a few minutes, not to worry." Jace says patting his brothers back. Even though he was internally freaking out. He was terrified of needles and he just knew he had to get shots. Smiling Alec hugged him, "Don't worry J, I will be here to hold your hand if you need to get shots."
"Don't even joke like that!" Jace whispered loudly. Closing the door to get changed. Laughing, Alec walked towards the girls room just as the doctor walked in. Dr. Bentley checked both girls, played with them as she went over her assessments. "Alright both girls are perfectly healthy. Now, they will need to get their two year shots. Then you will be ready to go. Do you have any questions?" They both shook their heads no. Magnus was not happy about his babies getting shots, not one bit.
"It's okay Magnus, I don't like it either, but it's for the best." Magnus grumbled under his breath. "I don't like seeing them in pain. Can't I just get the shot for them?"
"No, you can not." The nurse that checked their vitals walked into the room with a tray carrying two needles, alcohol swabs, cotton balls, and band-aids. "Okay dads, I need you to hold their legs please." Magnus lost it then. No parent liked having to hold their children down as they got shots, but it was for their own safety.
Alec had to calm Magnus down, when that didn't work, he sent him to check on Max. Alec wasn't any better. The first time this happened, Pops had to hold him back. Surprisingly, the girls only cried for a second and then were good to go. The nurse apologized for hurting them and gave them stickers. She then gave Alec the girls paperwork and shot records.
"Papa!" The girls squealed seeing Magnus walk into the room, he took them both into his arms. Kissing them all over their faces and then kissed their legs where they got their shots. "Are you okay my babies?" Alec kissed Magnus sweetly before leaving the room to check on his other siblings. Apparently all three of them needed five shots a piece. That pissed Alec off severely. Maryse and Robert were away so much, they let their children's health be at risk. If they haven't been to the doctor, Alec knew their dentist appointment was going to be any better. Other than shots, they were healthy.
All three kids were tested for STDS, given packets that had all types of condoms and lubricants. They also needed to visit an Optometrist. It was going to be a long two days. Alec spoke with Isabelle and Dr. Bentley about birth control and she recommended that Isabelle visit an OBGYN for their opinion. Alec knew which office he was going to take her. As promised, Alec held Jace's hand as he got his shots. Actually, he held everyone's hand.
"Alright guys, we are going to the dentist next. Then to a walk in Optometrist. I'm not taking any chances with your eyes. I know I need to go, but I promise once we're finished with the dentist, we will stop and you food. Is that alright?" Everyone agrees before entering the car.
Surprisingly everyone's dental hygiene was great. Just a simple cleaning. No cavities. Thank goodness. They just needed to practice flossing daily. So of course, Alec leaving the dentist office, Alec drove to Target so everyone could pick out new toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Jason and Thalia meet them at the store. Apparently they needed some things for their house and wanted to take the girls with them. Alec thanked them both. It was near lunch, and they still weren't even done for the day.
"So how was the doctor?" Jason asked while picking out some pillows.
"It was horrible. They wanted me to hold my babies legs down as they stuck them with needles! What type of crazy shit is that?!" Magnus angrily exclaimed.
Rolling her eyes, Thalia explained she had to do the same with him.
"My siblings had to get five shots a piece. Apparently they haven't been to the doctor in years." Alec tells them. "Not that I'm shocked, hell I had to get way more than they did when I first got here. I don't understand how parents can forget to take their children to the doctor. It's outrageous."
"What?!" Thalia shouted. "I am so glad you have custody of them Alec. They're in the right place with you and Magnus. Even though you're both kids yourselves, you know what to do when it comes to being a parent. Well, you do Alec. Magnus is still learning. Now what else do you have to do?"
Alec told her he was taking them to get an eye exam once they leave Target. She wished him good luck then pushed him towards the baby section to pick out clothes. Alec wasn't really in the mood for shopping for baby clothes and essentials. He was on a mission and had responsibilities to get done before he could get lost in going baby crazy. "I'm sorry mom, but we really need to go. I want to be in the house before it gets crazy out. I need to get my eyes checked. I refuse to wait any longer." Alec gently explained. "I promise we will set up a date where we can shop until your heart's content. But for now we have other obligations." He hugged his in-laws and girls goodbye before heading to the register to pay for their items. Thankfully Visionworks was in the same shopping center and was just a quick ride down the street.
After filling out paperwork, Alec let his siblings go first before himself. Jace, Magnus and Isabelle had 20/20 vision. Max and Alec, not so much. They both had astigmatism in both eyes. Though Max's was severe. Alec broke down in tears hearing that his brother was barely able to see things. He kept apologizing over and over to Max. "It's okay Alec, it's not your fault. I'm just glad we can get this sorted now and not have to wait. So come on and help me pick out some nice looking glasses." Max smiled carefully pulling Alec to look at the different glasses for them both. Max needed special blue-tint glasses made and it cost five hundred dollars for two pairs. Alec didn't give a damn. He paid for him to have three pairs and contacts. He himself got both as well.
Magnus joined the two in picking out stylish designer frames. Though Magnus needed to hold Alec so he wouldn't break down again. When hearing his fiancé's voice break, he entered the room immediately. He was on the phone with James and Nadia, going over his schedule for the week. They heard the full conversation about Max and told Magnus they would call him back. They needed to calm down before exploding. Max couldn't see properly for half of his life! Robert and Maryse need to be in jail.
Vision works got their glasses ready right then and there, though they had to get their contacts ordered. It wasn't a problem, they could wait on them. Max put his glasses on and looked at his siblings. He could finally see their faces clearly. He cried. Everything looked so much clearer. The colors were vibrant and he wasn't seeing double of anything. Alec held him close, not wanting to let him go. "For the first time, my head doesn't hurt. Thank you so much Alec! Thank you! I can finally see the green in your eyes." The workers wished them goodluck, smiling as the family laughed and joked around.
"Okay guys, we are heading home for the day. I'm not in the mood to cook anything so what would you like to eat for dinner?" Everyone decided on Arby's. After leaving with five bags of food, the gang headed home for some much needed sleep.
