The duo searched throughout the house. Which admittedly, was a fairly limited space. Flowey, and the vase now secured in the backpack. Chara herself wearing her new, now damaged outfit. First, they went to the living room, and kitchen. But she wasn't there.
They did briefly stop inside the kitchen, when Chara looked over the fridge's contents. Which seemed to contain her donut from the day before, alongside the cider. Primarily. She also noticed a bar of chocolate, resting in the side-door of the fridge. Her eyes narrowing, focusing on it.
Glancing over her shoulder, nobody was looking. Well, aside from Flowey, but he didn't count. Swiping it, she quickly stuffed it in her jacket pocket. Taking a bite of the donut, while setting off to check the rest of the house. Passing by the staircase down to...wherever. She'd check it last.
Checking her room, Toriels room, and attempting to check the back room proved fruitless. She raised a brow at the back one being locked. Checking around, before noticing a little hidden key at the bottom of a nearby mirror. Briefly examining herself, smiling at her present appearance. Though, she was surprised to see that Flowey hadn't been messing with her about the eyes.
At the center of her iris's, was purple. It seemed to have bloomed from the pupil, growing out. Overtaking the red that was usually present. Leaving said coloring only present around the edges. She pondered if her eyes would soon be nothing but purple. Brushing it off, while grabbing the key.
Inquisitively inspecting the contents of the third room, she found...nothing really. It was just a bunch of boxes, and an old couch. Seeming the room was in the process of becoming something else. But more importantly, Toriel was also not present there.
"So...she had to have gone downstairs right?" Chara asked.
"Maybe we just didn't hear the door." Flowey suggested nervously.
"She wouldn't need the jacket, nerd." The girl noted.
"And she'd need it for the basement?" He asked.
"Maybe?" Chara shrugged, headed to them. "Guess we'll find out."
The duo proceeded down. Finding a long, long hall laying ahead of them. It was a peculiar place to find in what she had believed to be a basement. She checked the items in her possession, just to make certain she still had everything.
She had a jug, or bottle, really the same thing, of cider in the backpacks side pouch. She had 3 of the monster candies left, noting she definitely ate the other two responsibly. In the jacket pocket, she had the plastic knife. She had discovered it to be the same kind that Toriel had in her kitchen, and that was tough enough to cut pie. So, maybe it'd be fine? She didn't know.
Her last item was the donut she was chewing, while walking forward. The further she went, the more the heat seemed to give way. Getting progressively colder. Coming to a corner, she peered around it.
"Chara...this may be a bad idea." Flowey suggested, adding. "We don't...even know where...we're going?"
She ignored this line of protest. Eventually coming to a little round section, with a door before them. A small chill came through the cracks of it. Pushing as hard as was possible, the door opened, groaning some in the process.
"No more door here." Chara remarked. "Since, it's now a-jar."
"Not your best material." Flowey replied.
"W-well least I'm trying." She said, proceeding down the next long hall. "Where's your pun petals?"
"I don't usually make puns. Or jokes." He stated.
"That is very depressing." She noted, the duo coming to a patch of dirt, with light slipping through the cracks of the very distant ceiling. "Orchid you not."
Flowey stared at her, frowning. "Terrible puns."
She stuck her tongue at him for a moment, blowing raspberries at him. The pair proceeding through the final door before them. She was tempted to ask why someone needed this long of a way to somewhere. But wagered he didn't know either.
Beyond the door, what greeted them was something she hadn't expected. Something that she simply couldn't recall. Snow, falling gently from the...sky? She stared up at the little flakes of frost. There was nothing but dark, high, high above. A smile broke across the childs face however, as Flowey found his bag placed down. A purple light shining by the doorway.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"It's snowing." She might as well have whispered. "There's...heh."
She didn't bother trying to understand it. Instead, she turned to face the flower. Giving a little salute, before dropping back, plopping into a pile of snow. Flowey smiled a little, hearing her giggle from the snow.
"Good thing you got the jacket." He noted.
Her arms began to move, alongside her legs. But only slightly. Not enough to make a snow angel proper. The girl hopping up after a second, looking it over. Taking her hand, she made little horns for the imprint.
"Look, a snow-demon." She remarked.
Flowey hummed. "Thought hell was hot?"
"Pretty sure it's cold." She replied, taking a second to gather snow in her hand. "Like...someone said it was frozen."
"When hell freezes over?" He asked, noticing her. "Don't hit me with a snowball."
Chara let out a theatric gasp. "W-what, me, never."
Flowey squinted saying. "Uh huh...I don't have a jacket, so you can't hit me."
"Sure thing Asriel." She replied, making him blink.
"Huh?" He muttered.
"He gave me excuses like that all the time." She noted, noticing the Flower begin to speak. "I lied!"
Floweys desire to make a comment was cut off by a snowball smacking against his face. The Flower huffing and giving her a glare. Growing a dark grin.
"How dare." He said in a serious voice. "So you want a snowball fight, do you?"
Chara imagined she may have bitten off more than she could chew. However, she was loath to back down now. Her eyes shining, she would persevere.
"Either get clover it, or lotus see your best shot." She punned.
What followed next, was general chaos. The flower using his vines, to grasp as much snow as he could. Attempting to barrage her with the snowballs. While this proved to be initially very effective. At one point knocking her to the ground. She started to adapt fairly quickly.
Weaving, and sliding around in the snow. Snatching up snowballs of her own. Retaliating with a few precise shots, compared to his dozens of scattering ones. After a minute he noticed he had ran out of snow around himself. Looking up to see her standing over him with a big snowball. Her eyes giving off a faint glow of purple-red light. He let out a sound of fear and tried to protest. Only to get splatted by the last one.
"I win." She remarked, poking him as he shivered.
"W-was that l-last one n-ne-necessary?" He asked.
"You hit me with like twelve." She recalled.
"It's friggen cold Chara!" He exclaimed.
She sighed, taking a scarf from the bag, wrapping it around him. He raised a brow as she did. But it was warm, so he didn't specifically care.
"Better?" She asked.
"How long has that been in there!?" He demanded.
"All this time, why?" She asked.
"W-what else is in there?" He inquired.
Chara glanced at the backpack. "Colored pencils, paper, and some socks." She raised a brow. "Did you...wanna wear the socks on your leaves or something?"
Flowey responded. "No. Thank you."
"No problem." She replied, picking the backpack back up. "Sorry for uh, getting distracted from the mission."
"It's snow problem." He said back, shivering still.
"Hey, you made a pun." She noted. "Proud of you."
"I am deeply shamed in myself." The flower replied.
"Nerd." She responded plainly, while looking around.
It was nothing but trees and forest all around them. Save for the partially clear path heading...somewhere. It seemed like the blatantly correct choice. After all, she didn't view Toriel as the kind of person to go hanging out in the woods. And so, she started down it.
Heading down the road, she contemplated making another flower necklace. Not that the first one lasted that long. Or, really worked out as easily as she thought it might.
Along the road, she noticed a large stick. Pausing by it, to try and pick it up. Almost able to, but not able to lift or carry it properly.
"It's too big for you." Flowey remarked. "It'd take someone real tough to pick that thing up."
"Yeah, I guess." She muttered, moving on from it.
The duo got several feet away, before hearing a snapping noise. Turning quickly, she found that the stick had been snapped in half. Her eyes wide, looking around at the nothing that was present.
"U-uhm." She hummed. "Flowey...what uh...broke that?"
"I-I dunno, I wasn't looking." He admitted.
"Dude, you had one job!" She noted in alarm.
"J-just hurry up, let's go okay?" He requested.
She turned on her heel, beginning to walk faster. Seeing some sort of...something in the distance they were getting closer to. Another sound coming from behind them, as Flowey began to whisper 'quick, faster, move.'
Approaching the object, it appeared to be a sort of gate, placed across a pit. Which went...down somewhere. A rather questionable bridge running through the center. Reaching it, she paused, Flowey looking over to see why they had stopped.
"J-just go through it." He demanded quietly.
"I-I uh, what if-" She started.
A sudden sensation took over her body. Her soul briefly flashing, turning...blue? Before she could respond, her body was sent flying forward, off the edge. And, down, slamming against the side of the pit. Smacking her head, while trying to grasp at some exposed roots.
Flowey attempted to reach out with his vines, but something stopped them from reaching. She couldn't see what, as it got dark. The duo falling down farther and farther. The light vanishing as they went, fading into someplace...darker. She braced herself, and then...the feeling was indescribably painful. A sharp set of sensations tearing through her body, similar to the spikes, but worst.
Her soul shattering, while she choked on her own blood.
