Her eyes flashed briefly, the cold filling her longs. Snow falling, ever steadily from nowhere. Despite the additional layers, she felt well and truly cold. Bits from her journey, a memory from her past now present in her mind. Making her feel numb, a frown stuck on her face.
"What's going on?" Flowey asked.
"Huh?" She hummed, remembering he was wondering why they stopped. "Snow."
She muttered this and started walking again. Flowey watching her from his spot on the ground. Letting out a noise.
"H-hey, where are you going?" He asked.
Chara glanced back at him. The Flower could see that the purple was nearly all consuming in her eyes now. The red only barely blended in. He swore that just a moment ago...a realization coming to him.
"Sorry, forgot you weren't with me." She muttered, wandering back over to pick up the pack.
"It's uh, alright." Flowey glanced around. "Hey, uh, there's a save point over there. Mind if I-" She continued walking. "Chara...I should probably save."
Her steps stopped. He saw her peering back at him over the shoulder. It was an odd look, far less pleasant than she had been only a moment ago. Looking to where he pointed, she stepped over, and stopped. He reached out, quietly hitting it, saving his progress. The load command still in pieces, and unavailable to him.
"Did you save?" She asked.
"Yeah." He replied.
"Do me a favor, and actually watch behind us." Her tone full of hostility. "If that's too hard for you, I'll leave you under a tree."
Flowey winced some. "U-uhm, it's not...a problem."
"Fantastic." She muttered, continuing on the path.
As per her request, he kept his gaze watching behind her. Occasionally turning some to check and see what was happening. Her eyes obscured by the shade of her hair. A neutral expression locked on her face. Like a semi-smile, fake and plastered. Providing no commentary or clarity. Though, he felt like...he'd been an idiot again.
As they traveled, they came across a large stick in the road. Flowey half-expected her to try and pick it up. But she just ignored it, and kept moving.
"Not gonna take the stick?" He asked, hesitantly. "Could uh...well it seems tough."
"Yeah, I guess." She muttered, not stopping or turning around.
He felt a bit dejected, turning back to focus on the stick. The duo getting several feet away. As he blinked, there was a loud snapping noise. His eyes opening to reveal that the branch had been snapped in half by something.
"Did you see who did that?" She asked, having paused briefly.
"I-I dunno, I wasn't looking." He admitted. "W-well, I was blinking, but uh-"
"That's okay. I expected failure from you." She said back, in a quiet, angry tone.
"S-sorry, uhm...I really was-" He began.
"I don't care." She replied, walking again.
Flowey felt both, incredibly unnerved by what was going on. Wishing she would just run, or get on with things. However, he wasn't willing to voice his thoughts either. Her sudden aggression, her tone, all of it...scared him. And then he failed to keep an eye on a stick, just one stupid thing. It made him feel like an impossible failure. Especially given his belief that they may have died...and it was somehow his fault, again.
After a time, they came to a halt in front of a sort of gate. Flowey glanced back, noticing she wasn't moving, seeming to be...listening, instead. The sound of footsteps coming to his attention. Turning and finding a form stepping up towards them, kept in the shadows the trees cast. A figure who shifted their posture some when being observed by the Flower.
As they neared, and Flowey was able to make out who the figure was. He felt a highly uneasy sense of dread overtake him. The skeleton, wearing a dark jacket, and hoodie combination smiled some. Ever so nefariously, and sly.
"heh...human-" The voice began from behind her. "don't you know how to greet a new pal?" She prepared for an attack. "turn around, and shake my hand."
At least having Flowey see the person appeared to delay their untimely death. A thought that brought her some comfort. Turning, to face the shadow covered person. She offered her hand. Clasping it together with the monsters own. Following this, there was a distinct noise that followed. It was long, whiny, and very, very much like a fart. She had grabbed a whoopee cushion.
When the sound finished, the skeleton before her chuckled. "heheh...the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick." He grinned some. "it's ALWAYS funny."
Her purple eyes stared through the overhanging strands of hair at him. She wasn't amused. She was cold.
He glanced to the side. "that's, uh. your cue to laugh." He winked somehow. "or, to, emote at all...?" When she didn't respond he leaned some. "Oh, if it ain't the flower. hey bud, how's it growing?" Flowey peaked over at him. "feels like it's been forever since I've seen ya."
"Oh, well, it has." Flowey muttered back, with a nervous laugh. "Hasn't t?"
"your friend has a look that says 'don't touch me, achillea' petals." The skeleton noted, causing Flowey to huff, and a slight raise to happen with Charas smile. "hang on, let me aster my question again."
"Sans." Flowey groaned.
The skeleton cleared his throat...somehow. "human-" he smiled more, and offered his hand again. "don't you know how to greet a new pal?"
It took a moment, but Chara took his hand. This time feeling a mild shock. Gasping some, before noticing he had a joy buzzer in his hand now. The skeleton grinning much wider than before.
"heheh. the old joy buzzer in the hand trick." He pushed his hand back into his dark jacket. "it's ALWAYS funny."
Flowey blinked. "W-what...why do you have both of those?"
"shocking, isn't it?" Sans asked back.
"Ughhhhhhhh." Flowey groaned, while Chara let out a brief chuckle.
"anyways-" Sans refocused on Chara. "you're a human, aren't ya?" Her smiled became neutral again. "that's hilarious."
"Sans-" Flowey began, anxiously.
"as everyone's favorite lilacable flower keeps sayin, my name's sans. sans the skeleton." Sans introduced himself. "i'm actually meant to be on watch for humans right now."
Chara spoke. "why?"
"just the job. dunno why." He lied, blatantly.
"Your job?" Flowey asked in surprise. "Wait...are you-"
"that's right bud. applied to the royal guard." The skeleton commented. "guess they had a skele-ton of work needin done. cuz they actually hired me."
Flowey went paler than his usual colors. "What?"
"but, i don't really care about catching anyone." Sans suggested.
Chara raised a brow. "You don't?"
He shrugged. "sounds like way too much work." She appeared doubtful. "now, my brother Papyrus, on the other hand...he's invested in it. fanatically." He explained. "but hey, it's kinda his job to be."
Flowey gave him a stern look. "Isn't it your job too?"
"probably." Sans replied.
"Y-you said it was!" The flower declared indignantly.
"neat." Sans said, with little care or concern, noticing a slight smile from Chara. "anywho, i know he's a ways up ahead." He motioned. "ya might wanna keep a look out for him."
As he motioned, a sudden blur of movement occurred from Chara. Slashing out with the plastic knife. Missing, while the skeleton teleported back, confused. Flowey let out a sound of alarm.
"C-chara, what are you doing!?" Flowey demanded.
Sans commented. "hey now buddy...don't you know its rude to attack people for no reason?"
Chara straightened up, her eyes coming into view of the skeleton. Dripping dark ink. The plastic knife leveling, her smile growing in unnatural proportions. The entire world flashing red and black.
"You're going to kill us, again." She said knowingly, as he grinned. "But, of course, you didn't know you already had...heh heh heh." She hummed. "I wonder...why don't you look surprised to hear that?"
Flowey commented. "H-he did what?"
"well, the other sans's will be pissed about that one. oh well." He shrugged.
Chara used fight.
Flowey was forced to fight.
Flowey felt the purple energy seize him. Compelling him to act, even without him desiring to do so. A series of bullets appearing. Firing out at the skeleton. Sans waiting until they got close, to simply teleport away from them. Glancing to the side as he appeared, noticing her slashing out at him.
He vanished again, avoiding the hit.
"sorry kid. you're out of your depth." He snapped his fingers, as a row of strange skulls, radiating red energy appeared. "better luck next time."
Her soul flashed blue, slamming her to the ground. Surprised, and unable to respond in time. A massive beam collided. Nearly tearing apart all her health. Another disintegrating Flowey before he could respond. She pushed to the side, avoiding another. Only to fail at leaping out of the way of the last one. Vaporizing her, and shattering her soul.
