Chapter Text
When Izuku finally got home, he was overwhelmed. Prior to today, he'd never experienced that much social interaction. He never had the time or the opportunity.
Things went off the rails when Momo decided to take charge, saying that she knew of a casual eatery within walking distance that would take them all, and that she would treat them. That translated to her booking a private room at a restaurant that most of the class's families would be able to eat at once a year, possibly, if there was a really special occasion.
Ochako, who was intimidated just looking at the place, reminded Izuku that she was raised by construction workers. The chain of shocked swearing that she uttered under her breath was creative and disturbing.
Everyone was kind of shocked, but Momo had such an innocent look of happiness that she was going out with friends that no one had the heart to tell her this wasn't normal.
Izuku tried to unpack everything that had happened. He still couldn't believe he'd actually talked to and befriended everyone. Everyone in class had his phone number, and unlike previous years, that didn't mean he'd have to change his number or have them spam hate-texts at him. Still, it was interesting to see friendships start to form as the class managed to gravitate towards each other.
While they had separated and got to know their other classmates on their own, he and Ochako were still definitely best friends. It was SUCH a good feeling. Tenya seemed to have gravitated towards them as well, and it seemed Tsuyu wasn't too far behind.
Though it did nearly give Izuku a heart attack when Tsuyu said his Quirk reminded her of All Might's. Luckily, Ochako chalked that up to him being a fanboy. And she showed everyone pictures of his bedroom.
Keeping One for All a secret was worth a little embarrassment.
Speaking of embarrassment, Setsuna, Mina, and Toru had formed a trio almost instantaneously, having similar outgoing natures. They'd seemed to enjoy teasing people, including him, but it never seemed like it was mean-spirited. They were also convinced that he and Ochako were dating, and seemed to take great joy in "shipping 1-A's power couple" as Mina put it.
Eijiro and Tetsutetsu had obviously become best friends nearly immediately. Izuku was flabbergasted by how the two of them had Quirks with vastly different mechanisms and nearly identical results. He was thrilled to share workout tips, as he'd basically been following All Might's plans and needed improvement, and the two were in awe when he told them about Dagobah.
Reiko and Fumikage had been talking a lot, and most of it seemed to revolve around folklore or horror movies. And they seemed to speak entirely in overly dramatic sentences. Izuku wasn't sure if they were arguing or flirting in a really weird way. They were joined by Kinoko and Ibara, who had struck a friendship through a shared interest in gardening. Kinoko seemed to appreciate a magical aesthetic and found it interesting. Ibara at first was concerned that she'd have to perform an exorcism on Fumikage, until Dark Shadow popped out and managed to convince her that any references to him being a demon were hyperbolic.
Izuku had FUN talking to Dark Shadow. Sentient Quirks were so neat! He wished he could openly share that he had one!
Pony gravitated between himself and Momo, since they had the best command of the English language. Itsuka didn't have the same fluency, but she seemed to be naturally concerned about everyone, and had joined in. She and Momo got along like a house on fire.
Denki had flitted between groups, before he seemed to settle into a group with Eijiro and Tetsutetsu. He seemed really friendly to everyone, if flirtatious. He hadn't been successful at all with his flirting, but he took it in stride. The only person who seemed to be ticked off by that behavior was Kyoka, who had a few cutting remarks for the blonde boy. Izuku was a little concerned, but Denki didn't seem to mind, and Kyoka seemed nice, if a little aloof. When favorite bands came up, her eyes lit up and she talked very excitedly. She seemed to gravitate towards Momo more than anyone else.
Koji was a bit of an odd one. He seemed to be happy either in a group or on his own, but he was always quiet. Koji could use Japanese Sign Language, though, and Izuku had learned it when he was younger, though he was out of practice (he worried that Katsuki might go deaf thanks to his constant explosions, and wanted to make sure they could still talk. Katsuki had attacked him for it, because Katsuki thought it made him sound weak). Koji just didn't feel comfortable talking unless it was to animals, particularly since when he was young, he couldn't talk at all without accidentally using his Quirk. And, well, in an urban setting, no one wants to see what happens when you accidentally summon all the vermin in the nearby area.
Yui was also silent, but that was different. It wasn't clear why, it just seemed like she didn't want to talk, she didn't know JSL, and her Quirk had nothing to do with her voice. At one point, Izuku had gone into a murmuring spiral and resurfaced to see Yui standing next to him, looking at him blankly. Izuku apologized, but she didn't respond. Izuku wondered if he offended her somehow, until she handed him her phone on an "enter contact info" page. Once he did, it turned out that she was a prolific texter. Turns out she found it extremely interesting to hear his thoughts like that, and that she just wasn't good at expressions or speaking out loud.
As Izuku was writing more extensive notebook entries, he started to cry tears of joy. He finally belonged somewhere.
The vestiges comforted and encouraged him, and he was thankful for it. It was nice to have them there. All six of them.
Almost as soon as he thought that last part, he suddenly felt two other presences.
"Kid, for what it's worth, you shouldn't have gone through that, and I'm glad you're in a better place," the unexpected voice of either the Second or Third user came and gave him a pat on his left shoulder.
As Izuku was shocked, he felt an uncomfortable silent presence towards his right.
"C'mon, Chief, whatever else, he's a kid ," Chief? Ah, so this was Three. "And you have to admit that it's familiar."
"I…" Two began, stopping, and then said, "In our time, kid, shit was reversed. People with powers were hated and feared. Life was fucked for people with meta abilities. Quirks, I mean. And that was just the beginning… We fought so that people like us could just live without bastards fucking with us all the time. It shouldn't have meant that a kid like you had to deal with the same exact horseshit."
It wasn't much, but it was enough to put a smile on Izuku's face.
For the second day, the first true day of school, Izuku arrived early. He had a task to complete, and there was only one way to do so. He steeled his nerves and prepared to enter unknown territory.
"Kid, I can sympathize, but it's just the Support Department," Daigoro said, trying to calm him down.
I'll admit that you guys have helped immensely, but over ten years of negative experience doesn't quit easily, Izuku groused, annoyed mostly at himself.
He was still tempted to follow his instincts and leave the homemade costume with a note saying who it was for. But, if he'd had the nerve to talk back to Eraserhead, he could talk to Power Loader about support items.
He shook himself limber, took a deep calming breath, and went to knock on the door of the Support Lab.
Before he could get close, an explosion blasted the door open and sent Izuku on his back.
Closing his eyes on instinct, he could feel a weight pressing down on him. He opened them as the smoke began to clear.
A pink haired girl with amber eyes, wearing coveralls, a tank top, and steampunk-style goggles was lying on top of him.
He suddenly realized what felt so soft, so close to his face, as he looked down at her chest.
As soon as he did, he yelped, "Are you all right?!" while red as a strawberry.
"Yup!" the girl said cheerfully, not seeming to care that her boobs were that close to Izuku's face. "There was something to break my fall this time!"
"This time?!" Izuku asked for clarification.
"Oh yeah, can't make an omelette without a couple of explosions here and there," she got up, dusting herself off, and made her way back into the lab. She left Izuku there, seemingly uncaring about his well-being. Izuku managed to get up and make his way in, smoke venting out fairly quickly.
"Damnit, Hatsume!" the Excavation Hero, Power Loader, came into the lab from the back, wearing a helmet shaped like an excavator's claw and enormous gloves. "Can you at least save the explosions until after I've had my morning coffee?"
"I promise nothing!" the pink haired girl said, still cheerful as she returned to her workbench and began to get her soldering iron ready.
"Oh wow, it's actually Power Loader, the only currently active Hero to simultaneously have a Support License, and the third in history to ever do so - Err, hello sir!" Izuku began a fanboy mumble-storm until a number of ghosts cleared their spectral throats in his head, bringing him back to reality.
Power Loader turned to Izuku, "Huh, you're a new face. Were you hurt by the blast?"
"I'm fine. Not the first explosion I've had to deal with, and it certainly wasn't the worst," he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, hoping that the tone was joking enough. "I'm Izuku Midoriya."
"Ah, one of the first year Hero students," Power Loader nodded. "We usually don't see you kids around here this early. What's the occasion?"
"Well, two things. First, I wanted to turn in my hero costume," he grabbed his backpack and retrieved the green jumpsuit his mother had made for him.
Power Loader looked at him quizzically, "You do realize we have access to support companies who will make your initial costume for you. They'll be able to tailor it to your Quirk registry."
Midoriya flinched, "Yeah, that's the thing. My Quirk came in late. Really late. Day-of-the-exam-late. I'm not entirely sure of everything I can do with it, and I have a Quirk counseling session this afternoon. I want to test what works and what doesn't at the beginning."
"Oh!" Power Loader had a flash of recognition. "Right, you're our record breaker among the new first years! Yeah, that was some performance you pulled! Never had someone annihilate a zero-pointer like that before! I'd heard around the water cooler that you were a late bloomer."
Izuku blushed, "Ah. Well, since you're aware of what I can do, that brings me to the second reason I'm here. I was wondering about what possible support gear I can use-"
"SUPPORT GEAR?!" The pink haired girl was suddenly right in Izuku's face. "And you're already famous for breaking records? Well, Mr. Record Breaker, color me intrigued!"
Izuku was shocked at how she ignored his personal space, "Um, okay?"
"Come on, let's see if we can't make some babies together!" she said loudly, dragging him along.
Izuku's soul left his body.
"Izuku, you okay there?" Nana said, concerned, while Daigoro was laughing in the background.
"Izuku machine broke," Yoichi joked.
The boy practically needed a hard reset as he managed to stammer out "W-w-w-w-w-w…" in an endless chain without ever managing to actually ask "What?!"
When she finished dragging him over to a pile of machines in varying states of completion, bringing up a metallic backpack object. She showed it to Izuku, "Here, this is one of the babies I've been working on!"
Izuku blinked, then shook himself, "Oh, you mean your inventions!"
"Of course! I pour my blood, sweat, and tears into my inventions! They're my children!" she stuck out a hand, "Mei Hatsume, future CEO of Hatsume Industries. And I want to be your personal support technician, Record Breaker!"
"Um, my name's Izuku Midoriya," he said awkwardly. He moved his hand towards the invention, and Mei interpreted that as agreeing to a handshake.
"Great! Your name's already been forgotten!" Mei chirped. Social cues seemed to elude her.
"Wait, I didn't actually agree to anything yet- Wait, is this a jetpack inspired by the Buster Hero, Air Jet?!" Izuku's attempts at disagreement were quashed by his analytical side.
"Oooh, good eye, Record Breaker!" Mei grinned wider. "A fantastic option for a hero on the go! I also have a pair of Hover Soles in the works! Combined, they'll help you become an ace at three-dimensional combat!"
Izuku placed his finger in his mouth and bit it. He couldn't go on a rant about receiving Float. He didn't know if this gear would be a hindrance with Float in his arsenal, or if it would be good practice for using Float, or if it would be a good backup should Float become unusable for any reason. He said, "Maybe once I've acclimated to my power a bit more. I'm still adjusting my body to using my Quirk. I should make sure I can run before I try to fly."
"A Hero student showing restraint," Power Loader commented. "This is a rarity."
"Well, I've got tons more babies to show you!" Mei said happily, chucking the jetpack to the side as she dug in.
"This is a lot. Are you a second year here? Third?" Izuku asked.
"Nope, I'm a first-year like yourself!"
Izuku stared, before he finally said, "A first year."
"Yup!" she smiled.
"This is the second day. The beginning of the second day. Before school's even officially begun," Izuku looked at the large pile in shock.
"I've been waiting to do this for a long time," Mei said, her golden, cross-haired eyes burning with anticipation.
"Did your class skip orientation, too?" Izuku tilted his head in confusion.
"No, but I did spend it drawing blueprints!" Mei contributed.
Izuku supposed that explained part of it. All right, it explained none of it, but it was something. Although, mentioning that he'd skipped orientation gave him an idea, "Hey, how about I give you some stats to work with?"
Mei turned, intrigued, "Stats?" Her tone was equal parts trepidation and eagerness.
Izuku nodded, pulling out a spare notebook and tearing out a blank sheet of paper. His pencil started to flow, "My Quirk is a physical enhancement stockpile that contains an immense amount of power. I can't use it fully. If I try to use over five percent of my power, it hurts. I used my full power during the entrance exam leaping up to a giant robot and punching it, and in the process I broke my legs and the arm I used to punch it. While orientation was going on, my class was doing a Quirk assessment test…" as he was writing, he pointed out a column, "These are my scores, at about five percent of my total potential output, maybe five and a half, I was straining myself. From there, we can extrapolate my current strength levels and what the full extent of my power is. I can update you after I finish my Quirk counseling. I'll try to find out relevant information like how much weight I can lift or the force behind my punch in newtons. My current goals are to reduce the strain on my body if I ever need to go above my current limit, pack more force into my punches at the moment, and give myself ranged options…"
As he looked up from his info-dump, he saw that Mei was paying attention. She was following every word. She looked excited. Sure, he'd had conversations with Ochako about it, but now, here was a person hanging onto his real-time Quirk analysis and wanting to hear it all. She was vibrating with excitement and bouncing on the heels of her feet.
"This is perfect!" She cried out, snatching the paper once Izuku stopped writing. "This is exactly what I need to design some of the most amazing babies!"
"And I'll make sure none of them explode on you," Power Loader says. "Assuming you want to let her experiment on you. We usually don't let first-year Support students work on any Hero students' gear, but she's the top scorer in our entrance exam the way you were the top scorer in yours. Not quite as record-shattering, but close. Still, we want you to be comfortable here."
Izuku paused, then looked at Mei, who was brimming with hopeful excitement, and said, "I'm willing to give her a chance. If she's this dedicated, I'll be happy to try out her… babies," that sounded wrong to say, somehow, but he was sure about this. She listened to him, wanted to hear more. That was a good feeling. He could hear Nana cooing over the whole ordeal.
As Power Loader nodded, Midoriya heard something he thought he wouldn't ever hear again in the back of his head, thump-thump-thump-CLICK.
"What?" Yoichi asked suddenly.
"Again?!" Daigoro seemed shocked.
"All right!" Mei cheered. She got out a tape measure, "To properly make some babies for you, I'll need your exact specifications!" She then began to measure his arm span. "Wow, you're pretty muscular, huh Izuku?"
Feeling her touch, not to mention she'd actually called him by his name, made him feel embarrassed. Thankfully, she finished with the measurements before the warning bell. He dashed to his classroom, hoping that his blush would disappear by the time he got there.
The strangest thing about U.A. was the normality of it all.
The coursework was advanced compared to a typical high school, but most of the subjects they were being taught were mundane. The fact that the teachers were also pro Heroes merely contributed to the surreality.
Lunch followed their art history class with Midnight, who had left the class flustered, particularly 1-A's minority of male students.
"That seemed excessive," Yoichi said disapprovingly.
"Hey, Heroes have to be prepared for anything," Daigoro said cheekily. "You have to desensitize yourself to a lot of things like blood or sexual innuendo lest a villain use that against you." Yoichi could only grumble at that.
"Oi, Iida!" Setsuna popped off one of her hands and poked 1-A's tallest member as they ate. "You didn't seem to react much to Midnight-sensei. I know you've got mechanical parts, but I didn't think you were a full on robot."
If Tenya knew Setsuna was teasing him, he chose not to give in, "I am not! I am merely more familiar with Kayama-sensei than most. She and my brother are close friends. In the past, I have called her Nemuri-nee-san, though calling her such would be highly inappropriate in a classroom."
"Wow, having such a close relationship with a teacher, that has to be weird," Ochako said. Izuku felt a bit guilty about that, which made Ochako look at him. Oh man, right, the empathy thing worked both ways. He blinked and tried to change the subject.
"Well, our first Heroics class is coming up! That's pretty exciting, isn't it?!" Izuku said.
"Yes, though I am a bit concerned that the syllabus made no mention of who the teacher was going to be," Tenya said. "I suppose that after the rescue points and Aizawa's test, U.A. is more duplicitous in their curriculum than I had previously believed."
"Yeah, who do you think it's going to be?" asked Mina, expectantly.
"It's got to be a retired pro," Eijiro said.
"Perhaps we'll have a rotating schedule of Heroes teaching us various specialized topics," Momo surmised.
Izuku blinked, "Wait, you haven't realized it?"
Everyone stared. "Realized what, Izu-kun?" Ochako asked.
Izuku looked at everyone, "You all got holographic letters of acceptance, right?"
Most people nodded, but Momo looked confused, "No, what are you referring to?"
Setsuna leaned back, "Me neither, but hey, we were recommended students. We just got told we were in after our interviews."
Izuku now felt uncertain. Did All Might actually record that many acceptance letters? "And who told you you were accepted?"
"All Might!" Eijiro cheered. "It got me so pumped to hear him say I got third place!"
"Same here! Eighth place for me though, Kiri-bro!" Tetsutetsu added, and the two of them high fived.
"Yeah!" Mina added. "I mean, I wasn't told my ranking, guess it was just the top ten? But hearing All Might say I was going to U.A. was the best thing!"
"And he told you he was joining the U.A. staff, right?" Izuku said.
There was a deathly silence. Everyone from 1-A stared at him.
Izuku paled, "He did tell you that, right?"
"No, he did not," Tenya said. "I thought it was just something he was doing as an alumnus."
"Why would he tell you he was joining the staff?" Momo asked.
"W-well," Izuku was unsure, until he heard the vestiges, and he started to repeat what they said. "I w-was involved in a villain attack about ten months ago and All Might s-saved me. He was actually the one who told me I had a Quirk. I th-think he must have t-told me because I broke his record? He d-did say he was p-proud of how far I came…"
"Such a man!" Eijiro thumped his chest. "Remembering the people he saved and checking up on them!"
"Indeed!" Tenya concurred, chopping his arm for emphasis. "Truly, he is the example we should all follow!"
"Then, if he's joining the staff of U.A.," Momo connected the dots, "the most likely position for him to teach would be…"
Everyone felt overawed by this knowledge. It took some time before conversation restarted, and it turned to what they believed the class would entail. Izuku stayed mostly silent.
When lunch was finished and 1-A returned to their classroom, Ochako pulled Izuku off to the side. Once they entered an alcove with some privacy, Izuku asked, "What is it, Occhan?"
"You told me you had a mentor who instructed you about your Quirk. Is it who I think it is?" Ochako asked.
Izuku winced. Of course she'd recognize it, "It is. I'm sorry I kept it from you."
"Don't be!" Ochako reassured him. "I'm guessing he wanted you to keep it a secret." When Izuku nodded, she continued, "Then don't worry about doing what was asked of you! Besides, it's not like I would've believed you…" she then blinked. "Actually, I might have. You are pretty amazing, Izu-kun."
After blurting that out, both of them were blushing like mad, looking away from each other. "Um," Ochako tried to change the subject, "you said he'd given you some bad advice before the entrance exam? What was it?"
Izuku smiled, "That to activate my power, I should clench my buttcheeks and, from the depths of my heart, yell 'Smash'!"
There was a pause, before Ochako let out a "pffft," and started laughing like a hyena on nitrous oxide. Izuku joined in, and they made their way back to the classroom, laughter mostly subsided but still grinning madly.
Izuku's prediction was correct, but he still trembled with excitement as All Might entered the classroom, told them they would be starting combat trials, and that they would be changing into their costumes for the first time.
Izuku wasn't expecting anything different from the suit he dropped off that morning, but he saw a note on top.
Record Breaker Izuku
I only managed to get you one baby before you'd need the costume today. Power Loader insisted we stick to things that have less chance of exploding and insisted on accurately testing it. Lame.
Anyways, you've got new gloves! They'll act as compression gloves to ease stress on your joints and knuckles, and there's a layer of a proprietary liquid that'll cushion your knuckles when you punch. They're a bit basic, but I hope you like 'em!
Your support technician,
Mei Hatsume, CEO Hatsume Enterprises.
Izuku tested the gloves, finding them to be very comfortable. They also looked nearly identical to the gloves his mother provided him, with a few visible adjustments. He also noted that the fingertips could be covered and uncovered easily. For something made in a few hours, it was fantastic!
Izuku left the locker room giddy at his new costume and support gear. He was ready for anything.
He then stepped into the room with his classmates and wondered how he would survive.
"Okay, now I can see the benefit in Midnight getting you used to this," Yoichi conceded as Izuku stared at the skintight and revealing outfits that his female classmates were in.
"Great, dealing with puberty. This makes it a third time. Joy," Two or Three, he still wasn't totally sure, interjected.
When Ochako came to talk to him, he was trying desperately to remain respectful. She looked so good in that outfit!
After everything that's happened so far, I'm half tempted to skip dating and go straight to the proposal, Izuku groaned inwardly. The vestiges were quite mirthful at that thought, but chose not to tease.
He tried looking elsewhere, but each time he moved his eyes, there was an attractive girl. Even the outfits that weren't titillating were still flattering! He eventually decided to keep his eyes towards the ceiling until All Might commanded their attention.
As he ran the class through the heroes versus villains exercise, the rules and the conditions for victory, he made one thing very clear, "Part of the reason I'm throwing you all into combat so early is to understand what your strengths and weaknesses are. However, I want you all to remember that this is a school exercise and that you are still learning. You are all novices when it comes to using your Quirks in a combat scenario. While Aizawa encouraged you to go Plus Ultra in your assessment tests, I want you to show restraint. Control is just as important a trait in heroics as power, if not moreso. I'd rather not have Recovery Girl beating my shins for sending you all to the infirmary on day one!"
There was a smattering of laughter as they drew lots to determine their teammates. When Izuku pulled out an E and Ochako pulled an H, they were disappointed, but took it in stride. Izuku did, however, breathe a sigh of relief that her outfit wouldn't distract him.
That sigh of relief turned into choking on air when he realized he was paired with Momo.
"Out of the frying pan, into the fire," En joked.
NOT NOW! Izuku shouted internally. Externally, he greeted Momo, "It's a p-pleasure to be working with you."
"Likewise. That outfit looks very nice, but a little amateurish. Which support company made it?" she asked innocently.
Izuku winced, "None, actually. Since my Quirk is still so new, I couldn't give an accurate description. We wanted to make it after I received Quirk counseling to see if there was anything I should add to my costume. I was going to stick with my P.E. uniform until then, but my mom surprised me by making this based on one of my designs."
Momo gasped, "That's so sweet!"
"Yeah, she's the best," Izuku smiled. "I'm assuming your costume is designed to maximize your Quirk usage? Giving you open space on your body's natural fat stores to more easily access your Quirk's creations?" He was intently NOT looking at those natural fat stores while he asked this.
"Indeed!" Momo was chipper as she explained, "This will allow me to create larger items like the cannon I used in the assessment test without needing time to remove clothing or risk damaging it! Though they did modify my original design. I had based it on Midnight's original outfit."
"Her original outfit?" Izuku asked disbelievingly.
Momo nodded.
"The outfit that caused the Diet to institute a new law on Hero costumes due to the complaints?"
"In hindsight, I should have realized the problem," Momo said, seeming to droop as she did so.
"No, I get it! You were thinking about maximizing your Quirk and forgot the incidental stuff. I've run into similar mistakes all the time! Like analyzing an interesting Quirk and not being aware of my surroundings and running into something," He admitted sheepishly.
Momo smiled, letting off a small, dignified giggle, "Well, you did show your analytical talents over our outing yesterday. Do you have any insights that might improve my costume?"
In the past two days, he'd been asked about his special interest, not in a mocking way, but in a sincere way. It turned out, this was like catnip to Izuku. His notebook was in his hand without him realizing it, and he began to write and ramble, "Well, the biggest issue is that you've put so much emphasis on Quirk usage that you've sacrificed protection. Unfortunately, the parts of the body that you need access to are some of the most vulnerable. It may be better to have a more conventional outfit made of DNA-integrated cloth that uses your hair in its creation. That's used by heroes with transformation Quirks to ensure they don't end up naked. In theory, your creations should be able to pass through that material the way they pass through your skin. If that's not feasible, there's always the option of an outfit with panels fastened by velcro or a similar substance that will allow you to 'push' your creations out without damaging them. At the very least, while capes can be a liability in a fight due to their bulky nature, a cloak would give you an extra layer of protection while providing the same access to your Quirk. And, lastly, there's your encyclopedia. I know that having blueprints and chemical formulas on hand is vital for your Quirk's usage, but you're carrying an incredibly heavy book on a rigid shelf mounted on your back. That's a huge danger. Land from a fall the wrong way and you could break your spine. Instead, a wrist mounted computer would be better. Or, perhaps a visor with a heads-up display that can show what you need immediately?"
Izuku finished his verbal avalanche and finally looked up at Momo, who was blushing heavily. Izuku blushed in return, particularly when he realized that the first teams had been called. The heroes of Team C, Tenya and Kyoka, were fighting the villains of Team J, Yui and Pony. Both teams were preparing before the exercise would begin.
"L-let's pay attention to the exercise for now. Do you have any predictions for how it will go?" Izuku asked.
Momo began to talk, but Izuku's attention was interrupted by the familiar thump-thump-thump-CLICK in the back of his head.
"REALLY?!" Izuku's voice joined seven others shouting in his head. If All Might's vestige could speak, it would have been nine

Fourth User - Hikage Shinomori
Last user not to be a pro Hero
Heroes were still vigilantes then.
He didn't give himself a hero name, and he never got one from the public
Quirk: Danger Sense
Allowed him to sense threats in time to avoid them.
When he got One for All, it improved the distance and the scope
He could previously only detect nearby threats and only serious threats.
Afterwards, he could sense threats over a larger distance, and could feel more mundane dangers.
The worse the danger, the more intense Danger Sense feels
If the danger reaches a certain point, is there a backlash?
Hikage sometimes calls it Super Anxiety.
I wish I could tell if he was kidding
Looks older than the other users
His hair is white, has two scars on the left side of his face
Wears robes. The right sleeve is missing for some reason.
Claims it was just torn and he never bothered replacing it.
When he got One for All, it was still fairly weak.
He decided that it would be better to leave civilization and train in the woods.
He spent all his time adding strength to the stockpile so that One for All would be better for future generations.
Spent 18 years building up the power until the strength of One for All was a force to be reckoned with.
Kind of odd.
It's hard to tell whether he's joking or serious.
Seems that he wasn't sociable much before getting One for All.
Almost 20 years alone in the wilderness probably didn't help.
Says that he's not weird, that he's normal and that everyone else is weird.
On the one hand, I like that philosophy a lot. It seems empowering.
On the other hand, that's not how normality works. Two centuries ago, I'd have been normal for being Quirkless, now I'm weird.
Died at 40
He looks much older than 40
He died of old age!
Okay, so it turns out that the human body can't sustain multiple Quirks, and One for All is no exception.
If you have a Quirk already and receive One for All, the power causes enough of a strain on your body to effectively halve your lifespan.
Toshinori and I were really lucky in multiple ways.
Wait, does that mean that the multiple Quirks in One for All will kill me?!
Yoichi says no.
The Quirks within One for All were absorbed by One for All and produced by One for All.
It's a single Quirk producing multiple Quirk factors, not multiple Quirks producing multiple Quirk factors.
Nana can prove this: when she passed One for All to All Might, One for All slowly faded from her body, but Float was unaffected.
The fact that she can remember things that happened after passing on One for All seems to indicate that the vestiges don't fully transfer into One for All until they die.
I've thought that I wanted to be able to talk to All Might's vestige, but if that's the case, I can wait as long as I need to.
