Chapter 5: The Gungan City
Jar Jar led Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan towards a lake. "How much further?" Qui-Gon asked. "Wesa goen underwater, okeyday? But my warning you. Gungans no liken outsiders, so don't spect a warm welcome." Jar Jar warned. "Oh, don't worry. This hasn't been our day for warm welcomes." Obi-Wan said. After stretching out, Jar Jar leapt up into the air and performed an impressive dive into the lake. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan put a breather in their mouths so they can breathe underwater and began walking into the lake. "Yousa follow me now, okeyday?" Jar Jar asked as he popped up before they all dived under the water.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan swam after Jar Jar as he led them towards a city that looked like it was made entirely out of bubbles. As they entered the city, they swam up to the biggest bubble and passed through it like it was made of air. "So good bein home!" Jar Jar said as other Gungans gasped and chattered at their appearances. "Oh, me gusa." "Hata-hata." 2 Gungans said to each other. But before the 3 could enter any further, a Gungan on a Kaadu named Captain Tarpals, approached them. "Hey, yousa! Stopa dare!" Tarpals exclaimed. "Heyo-dales, Cap'n Tarpals. Mesa back!" Jar Jar greeted. "Noah gain, Jar Jar. Yousa goen tada bosses. Yousa in big dudu dis time." Tarpals said. Jar Jar felt sad and ashamed. Just then, a female Gungan on another Kaadu approached the group. "Heyo-dales, Jar Jar." She greeted coldly. "Jy Jy? Isa that yousa, sista?" Jar Jar asked, perking up. The female Gungan, Jy Jy, was Jar Jar's sister. "Dasa Cap'n Jy Jy to yousa, Jar Jar. Mesa notta same sista you knousa anymore. Mesa have responsables now." Jy Jy said coldly. Jar Jar now felt sad again. "Now getsa movins!" Ji Ji exclaimed, shocking Jar Jar's shoulder with her staff. "How wude." Jar Jar said.
The group were brought to the Gungan Council. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan stood before the council leader, Boss Nass, while Jar Jar stood with Jy Jy in binders. "Tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk! Yousa cannot bees hair. Dis army of Mackineeks up dare is new weesong." Boss Nass said. "A droid army is about to attack the Naboo. We must warn them." Qui-Gon said. "Wesa no like da Naboo. Tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk-tkk. Da Naboo tink day so smarty. Day tink day brains so big." Boss Nass said. "Once those droids take control of the surface, they will take control of you." Obi-Wan said. "Mesa no tink so. Day not know of uss-en." Boss Nass said. "You and the Naboo form a symbiont circle. What happens to one of you will affect the other. You must understand this." Obi-Wan said. "Wesa no carrrre-nn about da Naboo." Boss Nass said. "Then speed us on our way." Qui-Gon said, using the Force. "Wesa gonna speed yous away." Boss Nass said, under the Force's influence. "We could use a transport." Qui-Gon said, using the Force again. "Wesa give yousa una bongo." Boss Nass said, under the Force's influence. Jar Jar was confused by this. "Da speediest way tooda Naboo 'tis goen through the planet core. Now…go." Boss Nass said. "Thank you for your help. We leave in peace." Qui-Gon said as he and Obi-Wan bowed to Boss Nass before turning to leave. "Master, what's a bongo?" Obi-Wan asked. "A transport, I hope." Qui-Gon said.
"Deysa setten yousa up. Goen through da planet core? Bad bombin'. Mmm…any help here would be hot." Jar Jar said. Qui-Gon stopped at Jar Jar's words. "Master, we're short on time." Obi-Wan said. "We'll need a navigator to get us through the planet's core. This Gungan may be of help." Qui-Gon said before walking back up to Boss Nass. "What is to become of Jar Jar Binks here?" He asked. "Hisen to be pune-ished." Boss Nass said, looking at Jar Jar with a wicked smile. Jar Jar whimpered shamefully. "I saved his life. He owes me what you call a "life-debt." Qui-Gon said. Jy Jy stared at the Jedi, for she knew what he was up to. "Your gods demand that his life belongs to me now." Qui-Gon said, using the Force. "Binkssssss, yousa havena lifeplay with thisen hisen?" Boss Nass asked. "Uh-huh." Jar Jar nodded. Jy Jy looked impressively at her brother. Boss Nass shook his head, blubbering loudly. "Begone with him!" He exclaimed. Qui-Gon bowed before turning to leave as Jy Jy let Jar Jar out of his binders. "Come. Mesa show yousa da bongo." Jy Jy said, leading the Jedi out of the council chamber. "Count me outta dis one. Better dead here than dead at da core." Jar Jar said. "Jar Jar!" Jy Jy called. "Yee gods! What mesa sayin?" Jar Jar asked before following the Jedi.
As Jy Jy led the Jedi and Jar Jar towards the bongo station, she made sure they were out of hearing range of the other guards. "Mesa come with you to da Naboo." She said. Jar Jar was surprised to hear this. "Mesa sorry for earlier, Jar Jar. Mesa had to keep playin serious sos not to get in trouble. Mesa really happy to see yousa again." Jy Jy explained, side-hugging her brother. "Are you sure you want to come with us?" Obi-Wan asked. "Mesa sure. Da Naboo Boss Nass no understands. Mesa sees it once as wee Gungan. Mesa wish to help." Jy Jy said. "Very well. We welcome any help we can get." Qui-Gon said. "Tank yousa, Jedi." Jy Jy said. "Da bongo down here." She led the group down into the bongo station.
