Nicole's POV

My heart was still pounding a bit from the scare Wynonna gave us tonight, but I'm so happy it was Wynonna and not some old lady who lived there. I ran to the backyard fence and opened it quietly checking to make sure if all of the lights were still out in the house. The house was still dark so my parents must still be asleep.

Our back door to our house, while it would be the most convenient to walk through and make my way back to my room, it is the loudest door in the history of doors on houses. The only way I would make it back to my room was to climb up the trellis that is by the porch roof. I scaled it quickly and quietly, feeling like I was like a spy or something, and made my way to the partially open window. I pushed it up quickly while still not making a sound. I really should go into the CIA or something with how stealthy I am. I thought to myself as I stepped my long legs through the window and onto the carpet in my room.

I closed the window softly and sighed in relief that I had made it inside without making a sound. I turned around, kicked my shoes off, and walked to my bed. I pulled out my phone and texted Waverly before plugging it in and plopping down on my bed.

"Ow!" I heard and I screamed bloody murder jumping up to find anything to defend myself. "That hurt Cole," I heard as the blankets rustled around to reveal my sleepy-eyed little brother looking up at me.

"What happened? Are you okay?" My mom busted through my door and flicked on the light to see me holding my shoe in my hand at my side and my little brother rubbing his eyes at the bright light. "What's going on?"

I looked at my brother and tossed my shoe on the floor then answered my mom before he could blow my cover. "Nigel just scared me is all. I didn't realize he was in my bed," I gave my mom a small shrug and as she looked from me to my brother I looked at him with wide eyes to emphasize he shouldn't say anything.

"Aww honey, why are you in your sister's bed?" My mom sat down and ruffled his mop of red hair. He looked from my mom to me and narrowed his eyes a little bit like he was thinking about something and then the doe-eyed look was back.

He looked at my mom, "I was having a nightmare and I knew daddy wasn't feeling good so I came to Cole's room to feel safe."

I started to relax a bit after hearing his answer but my heart was back in my throat when my mom turned her gaze to me, "Why didn't you know he was in your bed then?" I froze trying to come up with some sort of believable story so my mom wouldn't know I snuck out.

"Cole had her big headphones on when I came in so I just crawled into her bed," he looked at my mom all sweetly and then to me, "she looked busy." He shrugged his little shoulders and my mom just wrapped him in a side hug pulling him close to her.

"That was sweet of you buddy, why don't we go get you tucked in?" She asked as she released him and started to pull the blanket off of him.

Nigel grabbed the covers and pulled them up, "Can I stay in here with Cole mommy?"

She looked from him to me and said, "I guess, if it's okay with your sister." I nodded my head confirming he could stay and the smile on his face was giant. "Well make sure he goes to sleep and no more screaming, you almost woke your dad." With that, she kissed Nigel on the forehead and walked out of my door closing it behind her saying she loved us both.

The breath I had been holding finally was able to release and I flopped on the bed next to my brother. "Thank you," I said, putting my hand on his head to ruffle his hair.

He pulled the covers up and repositioned so he could get comfortable again, "Where were you, Cole? I was scared," he asked in a whisper.

I whispered back to him, "I'm sorry Gel, I just had to go out for a little bit. I didn't mean to scare you."

"Well don't do it again," he said, giving me a mean look before he closed his eyes. I chuckled softly, shaking my head at my ridiculous but adorable little brother.

I nudged him quickly before he actually fell asleep, "Hey can you keep this a secret between you and me? Mom can't know, okay?"

"Yes," he replied sleepily, and before I could say much more he was snoring softly against my shoulder.

Waverly's POV

After dropping Nicole off I headed for home and I knew that I would be met with all sorts of questions by Wynonna. I may have taken the long way home, but with it being late I tried not to take too long. I pulled into the driveway and checked my phone to make sure that Nicole had made it into the house safely.

Nicole: I made it inside. Goodnight Waves, I love you =)

Just reading those words on my screen gave me butterflies. It really does feel like a dream with her. I tapped out a reply and made my way up to the door. As soon as I reached the door it opened to reveal a smirking Wynonna standing in the doorway.

"Oh look who it is! I wonder what you could have been doing?" She raised her eyebrow at me while giving me a shit-eating grin.

"Shush Wy," I said flatly as I pushed past her to head to my room so nobody else would hear this conversation. I opened my door and Wynonna followed me in and shut it behind her.

Wynonna flopped on my bed and started in right away, "So how long has that been going on?" She raised her eyebrow at me in question.

"I'm your little sister and she's your best friend, are you sure you really need any details?" I asked, trying to avoid this conversation. I love my sister but sometimes a girl just wants to keep some things to herself.

She grabbed my small throw pillow and chucked it at me, "I'm your big sister, of course, I need to know! It wouldn't be any different if it was a new boyfriend or someone I don't even know. Just skip over all of the gory details please. I don't want to end up killing my best friend." Wynonna tried to keep the mood light by always joking, but when I have been interested in anyone before she hasn't given it a second thought. I think she is really just trying to make sure Nicole is treating me right.

"Are you sure you don't want to hear all of the amazing things-" I started but Wynonna put a pillow over her head and started repeating "La, la, la," over and over until I pulled the pillow away. "I'm just kidding I wouldn't give you too many details, I need to keep something for myself! If you are wondering if Nicole is treating me right, then that is an absolute yes. She is so sweet and caring, she makes sure that I am being taken care of and that nobody messes with me. She cares what I want and she likes to hear what I have to say. Nicole makes me feel like everything I say is the most interesting thing in the world, and she gives me butterflies by just existing." I stopped because Wynonna hadn't said anything and she just was smiling at me. "What is that look for?" I asked curiously.

She shrugged her shoulders before rolling off of the bed, "I have never seen you this happy before, so I am happy for you Waves. Just please be careful where you decide to do the deed because I never want to walk in on that again." She chuckled as she ruffled my hair pulling me into her for a hug. "Just because she is my best friend doesn't mean I want you to hide it from me Baby Girl. You're my favorite human ever, I like knowing what's goin' on in your life."

It wasn't very often that Wynonna got all sappy with me, but when she does it is always enough to bring tears to my eyes. "You're my favorite human too, Wy," I said, wrapping my arms even tighter around her.

"I still don't know where those hands have been so I'm going to have to ask you to watch it," she started laughing when I shoved her away from me. "I'm sorry I couldn't help it. You wanna watch a movie or something?"

Again I rolled my eyes at her but nodded my head in agreement, "Only if I get to pick it!" My sister groaned but reluctantly agreed and we headed down to the kitchen to get some snacks before we started watching a classic, She's the Man.

After a long night of watching movies and falling asleep on the couch with Wynonna next to me, I woke up to the sun shining through the curtains. We had watched two more movies after She's the Man and I ended up falling asleep before we made it all the way through the last movie. After rubbing the sleep out of my eyes I looked over to see Wy still passed out on the other end so I slowly moved to get up so I wouldn't disturb her.

Today I had promised Nicole we would hang out before the game night we have scheduled with everyone else. It was easy to tell that Wynonna was feeling a bit left out lately because I have been hanging out with her best friend more than she has been, so we decided it was time for a friendly night of games. The house was ours tonight and so once we were done with the games we were going to have a big slumber party on the floor in the living room. It may sound really childish, but from the giant smile that it brought to Wynonna's face when I suggested it, I knew we needed to make it happen.

I hurried upstairs to hop in the shower so I could make sure I had dry hair before I went to meet up with Nicole. She didn't tell me what we were going to be doing today but I knew whatever it was I would love it. I made quick work of my routine, glancing at my phone every so often to see if I had gotten a message and checking the time. It was only eight in the morning by the time I had gotten out of the shower, but I was too excited to be able to sleep in any longer.

Just as I got finished blow drying my hair a message came in.

Nicole: Good morning beautiful! I hope you didn't get in too much trouble with Wynonna...but I just wanted to say I can't wait to see you in a couple of hours! Just a side note, my mom might make us take Nigel...I'm so sorry :(

I couldn't help but smile at the message just because she is so darn cute. It was a little sad we wouldn't get to be alone just the two of us, but I do love her little brother.

Waves: Hey sweetie pie! No she and I had a movie night and all is good! I'm excited to see you too! It feels like it has been far too long! That's okay! I love Nigel, he is more than welcome to come with us!

Nicole must have just been holding her phone waiting for me to respond because she answered right away.

Nicole: I'm still going to try and make it so we can be alone, but if I can't I'll let you know. I would like to get a little bit of alone time with my beautiful girlfriend ;) And we can't sneak off to make out if we have Nigel with us….just a thought lol

We decided to just meet at the park that was close to Nicole's house in case she had to bring Nigel. I love her little brother but I was really hoping we would have some alone time since tonight we will be with our group of friends. But life happens so I understand we might have to be good babysitters too.

I showed up a little bit early before we had decided on, so I was sitting on my phone scrolling through social media when I saw Nicole's car pull up. She had a giant smile on her face as she got out making her way over to me. "No Nigel today!" she said with a fist pump and then she pulled open my door giving me a giant hug while I was still in my seat.

"It's nice to see you too baby," I giggled at her giddiness. I absolutely loved how adorable she was whenever we saw one another. "It really would have been okay for Nigel to come with, I hope you know that," I told her and she opened my door letting me step out of my Jeep.

"Yes I know," she waved her hand at that, "I just didn't want to share you since I'll have to share tonight. My mom said it wouldn't be a problem." Nicole shrugged and then gave me another 100-watt smile while wiggling her eyebrows. "So what would you like to do today my beautiful girlfriend?"

I couldn't help but smile at her, "I don't care as long as I'm with you I could sit and do nothing and be content."

She put her finger over her lips while she thought for a couple of seconds before her face broke out in another giant smile, "I have just the thing! Stay right there!" She exclaimed and ran to her car to go get something. From behind her door, I heard her yell, "Close your eyes!" So of course, I obliged and closed my eyes standing next to my Jeep in the parking lot. I could hear Nicole's feet slap against the pavement until she stopped right in front of me. "Okay, open!" She said excitedly, thrusting the basketball out in front of her.

I looked at her confused because I didn't know what she was thinking. "You want me to watch you shoot the ball? I do enjoy watching you do that," I winked at her, making her cheeks blush.

"That's not exactly what I was implying," she said, a little shy rethinking her idea a little. I put my hands over hers on the basketball.

"What were you thinking, baby?" I asked, trying to let her know I wasn't trying to make her feel bad.

She then responded, "I was thinking I could teach you how to shoot the ball properly." She added a little shrug afterward to make it seem a little more nonchalant. "You had told me how Wynonna never had the patience to teach you growing up so I thought it could be fun."

I grabbed the ball out of her hands and bolted for the basketball hoop that was on the other side of the playground. Nicole busted out laughing as I was running away but with her long strides, she caught me before I even got out of the grass. She wrapped her arms around my middle and picked me up so fast my legs were still trying to run. I yelped but then broke out into a fit of giggles as Nicole brought us gently to the ground. "So is that a yes to my idea?" she finally asked after we both caught our breath from running.

I leaned in and kissed her tenderly on the lips, "Yes baby, I would love that." I pecked her lips again and pushed myself off the ground, "Let's see how good of a teacher you are!" Nicole jumped up and we made our way over to the hoop.

Nicole's POV:

Something I have wanted to do for a very long time is teach Waverly how to shoot a basketball. When she told me that she didn't know how to shoot when Wynonna might be one of the best basketball players I've ever met, it surprised me that she didn't ever teach Waverly. But Waverly always told me that it was "Wyn's thing" and that she wasn't very good anyway, so I figured I would change that.

So that's what brought us here today on a Saturday morning to the park over by my house and a basketball in my hand. I was nervous about the idea because I didn't want Waverly to hate it or have bad feelings since Wynonna never wanted to really teach her. But the response I got from Waverly made my heart flutter. I shouldn't have doubted she would be anything but giddy.

"So where do we start?" she asked, grabbing the ball from me again and taking a few pitiful dribbles with both hands. I snatched the ball on the third dribble causing a cute little pout on her lips.

"Well first things first," I started, taking the ball and spinning it on my finger, "that would be a double dribble. Secondly," I said before Waverly could protest my comment, "I want to teach you how to properly shoot the ball." I smiled at her with my big toothy smile that put my dimples on full display.

Waverly stepped a little bit closer to me and twirled a rogue strand of hair around her finger, "How could I say no to that face?" She asked, biting her lip as she saw the blush take over my entire face and the falter in my breathing with how close she was in proximity. I would never get tired of the way my heart beat faster whenever Waverly was around me.

I took a deep breath to steady myself before I guided us over toward the basket. "Now this is what you will do first," I said, putting the ball in my right hand in front of me. "Take the ball and put it in front of you like this. Then you will flip it so your elbow is pointing at your target." I showed her a quick demonstration of what it should look like and flicked it into the hoop before I handed the ball over.

Waverly's thinking face might be the most adorable thing I have ever seen. She definitely had watched a lot of basketball being a cheerleader and Wynonna's little sister but it really shows she was never into sports that involved equipment. Waverly put her hand under the ball as I had shown her, and the ball made her hand look so miniature compared to what my hand looked like on the ball. She flipped it around like I had shown her but it fell right off. She looked at me with a pout as I retrieved the ball for her. "See that was a good start! You just might need your second hand for support until you get the hang of it," I said, holding the ball with both hands now to show her.

"I'm more of a hands-on learner, would you be able to guide me?" She asked, biting her bottom lip gently between her teeth. Who knew one small action could have my stomach fluttering?

I walked over to Waverly and placed the ball in her hands and stepped behind her. "Like this," I started as I put my hand under hers with the ball and guided her left hand to the side of the ball. "You don't want both hands behind the ball, this one is just a guide," I whispered into her ear. I had always dreamed of doing something like this but I never knew how this proximity would be so intoxicating. My breath behind Waverly's ear sent shivers up her spine and goosebumps down her toned arms.

"Next you just, push up under the ball," I said and showed her what I meant. The ball went absolutely nowhere at this point and the next thing I knew Waverly turned around and grabbed my face pulling me down into a searing kiss. Her lips were there and then gone faster than I could respond but I wasn't about to complain.

"Nicole Haught, that was extremely sexy and unfair for my focus! But that was also a huge turn-on!" Waverly stated before grabbing the ball again. "Now I want to learn how to shoot without being distracted!"

I wiggled my eyebrows as I walked to meet her closer to the basket, "I mean you did ask me to be more hands-on. Are you sure you can't be persuaded?"

Waverly pushed my shoulder gently and let out a soft chuckle, "You will be the death of my Nicole Haught. Once I make a touchdown we can go make out in my car." Waverly looked up at me with a sultry smile on her face.

I stammered a minute before I could speak again, "W-We-We're going to come back to the second part of that statement, but did you just call it a touchdown? Aren't you a cheerleader who is supposed to know a little bit about sports?" I asked, trying not to sound like a jerk with me correcting her but I couldn't help myself.

With that, Waverly busted out laughing, "I was just seeing if the second part of that would distract you enough from it. I know it is called a basket, it's okay you can relax a little sweetie," Waverly reached up, booping the end of my nose with her finger.

I joined in on her laughter, but all my brain could really think about was the second half of her statement. "Sooo," I dragged out rocking back and forth on my toes to my heels, "Were you serious about that second part?" I asked winking at Waverly with the best flirtatious smirk I could give.

Waverly's POV

After the time we spent at the park, and in my Jeep, we had to go get ready for game night tonight. With me dating Nicole, Wynonna feels like her best friend and little sister ditched her so we have been trying to plan more nights where all of us can spend time together. This weekend is board game night, my favorite!

We had invited the whole crew over, Wynonna, Doc, Dolls, Eliza, Rosita, Chrissy, Mercedes, Nicole and myself. I wanted to invite more people but everyone else agreed that just a small night in was going to be fun. So I have been running around since we got back from the park making sure that we have food for everyone, that the drinks are chilling in the fridge, and the board games are all dug out of the closet and set up in the living room. Gus assured us that the house was our's and that she would be at Shorty's late tonight. I was just so excited to get everyone together!

"Hey babe?" Nicole called out from the living room where she was getting everything organized for people to be able to fit around the table comfortably.

I popped my head in from the kitchen, "Yes, cutie?" I asked back.

With that Nicole gave me a dimpled smile and got up to walk over to me where the living room met the kitchen. "I was just making sure you were still here, you've been so quiet," she said smiling and placing a kiss on my cheek. I don't think I could ever get tired of Nicole's kisses, especially the sweet ones like this.

I blushed a little bit at her sweetness and replied, "Yes I am here, I'm sorry I promise I'm not ignoring you." I felt a little guilty that she was helping me do all of this and I wasn't paying much attention to her. When we normally do nights like this it is Wynonna who I rope into helping me so it's okay to get lost in it all for a little bit without feeling guilty.

Nicole could tell I was feeling a bit guilty because she leaned down again and gave me a peck on the lips, "You showed me plenty of attention earlier," she winked at me and the blush I had deepened thinking about the last few hours Nicole and I spent together at the park.

"Okay, okay. You're going to distract me if you keep talking like that," I said trying to hide the blush that was burning my face. Even when people weren't around it was difficult to not feel embarrassed by just how much I wanted Nicole literally all of the time. But then again, could anyone really blame me?

I went back to busying myself to try and keep my brain out of the gutter about my gorgeous girlfriend. Before I knew it the time had passed and everyone was showing up to the house. Wynonna walked into the kitchen while everyone else was greeting Nicole in the living room.

"Hey Baby Girl," Wyn said as she pulled me into a side hug placing a kiss on top of my head. "How was your day with Haught Stuff?" she teased as she separated from me.

I rolled my eyes at her but I always loved the banter we have back and forth. I was so nervous to tell Wynonna about Nicole and I at first, but she has been our biggest supporter throughout our relationship. Having her support is all that matters to me. "We had a nice day," I said but the time we spent in my Jeep crept into my mind and my face flushed giving me away.

"Uh huh, 'nice' is the way to put it," Wynonna cackled as she put air quotes around the word nice. "I'm sure Haught Pants lived up to her name." She jabbed my side knowing that's the most ticklish part of me so I had to get her back for that.

Wynonna loved to joke about what Nicole and I do in our private time but there is only one solution to get her to stop in her tracks, "Yeah, those pants are even hotter when they aren't on her," I said with a giant smirk on my face.

My sister, as dramatic as she is, threw her hands over her ears and started yelling, "La la la la la la! I can't hear you, you sex maniac!" My face turned five shades of red darker as everyone who had been in the living room was now peering into the kitchen at us. Before I ducked my head I looked at Nicole whose face was as red as mine felt. She came and joined me in the kitchen giving me a big hug which got everyone else going on about how disgustingly in love we are and giving us grief about the looks we always give each other. All I could do was roll my eyes and hug Nicole tighter as we took on the digs from our friends.

My heart felt happy, being surrounded by the people I love. Although they love to give us crap about our affection for one another, these are the best people I know. There really is no place I'd rather be and no person I'd rather share all of this with than Nicole.

I'll forever be thankful for giving into these feelings and showing the whole world that I like girls.
