The trinity of youths followed after their guide. Wandering down a long stretch of space, eventually turning and continuing past another clearing. This one with marks in the snow, suggesting people had sat there for awhile. Frisk wondered about it, but the thought didn't linger long.
The next space though, inspired a question from Frisk. "Is that a microwave?"
"Huh...oh, yeah. The boss likes to cook out here sometimes." Wolfo commented. "By cook, I mean reheat what he made at home." He told her. "It always smells nice, but it's usually pretty far from edible."
Noelle asked. "Wait, he gives you guys free food?"
"Ehhh, more like forces it on us from time to time." Wolfo chuckled. "Though...honestly I think he's tryin to be nice. It's just, today was the first time it didn't taste like licking a piece of charcoal."
"That's bad?" Suzy asked quietly.
Through, and then down once more. The group eventually coming to spikes of some kind. Wolfo nearly wandering into them, before stopping. The path forward was blocked, inaccessible. Frisk noticing a shining light nearby, saving.
"Shit.," Wolfo sighed. "Tell ya what. I'll wait here. You kids head back up the path but hook a right instead of a left. There's a hidden switch in the snow."
Noelle asked. "Shouldn't...you go get it?"
"It takes me hours to find the stupid thing. It's why I usually leave this down." The wolf remarked, taking a seat. "Don't worry, I won't go anywhere. So, just go throw it, and hurry back. Easy."
Suzy asked nervously. "What if something happens?"
"Then you yell, and I'll come runnin, deal?" He considered something. "In fact, here-" He held out the lantern. "this should help you see easier in the dark."
Frisk acquired a lantern. "We'll be right back."
Once she had it, she started walking off immediately. The other two noticing, and hurrying to catch up with her. Frisk was moving, faster than usual. Then again, it had been getting...a bit darker as they went.
Noelle noticed that Frisk moved with a sort of certainty. Seeming to know exactly where to go. The trinity turning the corner, as she stepped towards the center of the clearing.
The lantern provided some illumination to the space. The light reflecting against something metal. Frisk stepped over, and attempted to pull it. Trying again, visibly struggling.
"What's the hold up?" Noelle asked.
Suzy asked. "Is it stuck?"
Frisk nodded. "Y-yeah. Uhm, could I-"
Noelle headed over, attempting to pull it. "Oh, jeez."
Suzy scanned it and suggested. "Why don't we all try together?"
They seemed in agreement at this idea. Taking a second to get on either side of it. They began to pull. The lever resisting some, beginning to creak. Clicking, as they managed to get it down. Frisk sighing some, while standing up. Producing the toy knife from her pocket, hiding it behind her back, beneath the jacket-cape.
Suzy smiled warmly. "We did it!"
Noelle smirked some. "C'mon, you didn't think we'd get beaten by that thing." She nudged the human. "Right Frisk."
Frisk replied with. "Something is coming."
The other two tensing, the sound of footsteps coming to their attention. Something in the dark getting closer. Lantern raising to notice an odd-looking monster. A monochrome monster kid. Standing just at the edge of the light. With pale, empty eyes.
Frisk met the dead stare of the being, scanning it over, before closing her eyes some. A determined expression spreading across her visage. The monster grinning some in response.
"Uh...hi." Suzy greeted. "Can...we help you?"
"The human." The monster remarked. "Originally, I thought that was it." He explained. "But those red eyes of yours...heh, heh, that determined expression." He sighed. "Oh well."
Noelle asked back. "Are you...talking about Chara?"
"I'm tired of hearing this on loop." The Monster Kid smiled strangely. "We can drop the pre-tenses, can't we?"
Noelle shifted some, gripping the stick. "And what's that mean?"
"Well..." The kid shrugged. "I'm a Goner. And soon..."
The world flashed black and red. The group hurrying to get beside each other. The wind was howling, the scent of bleach in the air. Shadows loomed, whispering.
The Goner Kid had come to play a game.
Frisks soul shined, manifesting before them. Piercing red, glowing brightly. Matching her opening eyes, focusing on the enemy. A tense expression she couldn't hide on her face.
"I love that expression. The feel of that emotion." He replied. "You'll show it to me again, won't you?"
Noelle huffed. "What's your problem creep?"
The Goner Kid didn't respond.
Suzy asked. "W-we don't have to fight, you know?"
He glanced at Suzy but said nothing.

Frisk decided to check.
Noelle elected to attack.
Suzy tried to talk.
Frisk attempted to check Goner Kid. However, nothing showed up. Save a few words asking. "You seem confused. Were you expecting something here?" - Frisk felt unnerved, defense lowered.
Noelle dashed across the snow, swinging her stick at the stranger. Striking, hard, but dealing...no damage. - Noelle felt unnerved, defense lowered.
Suzy tried to talk to him. "Why are you fighting us?" - The Goner Kid replied. "That's easy, isn't it?" He smiled strangely. "Because it's fun to kill you." - Suzy felt scared, attack and defense lowered.
"And again, and again..." The Goner Kid let out a faint laugh. "Pain brings emotion, right?"
The Goner Kid grinned, his smile seeming to melt, the ground beginning to shake. The shadows concentrated, Frisk side-stepping, avoiding a piercing spike of ice. Another moving to hit Suzy, who felt compelled to dive to the side, and did so, avoiding impalement. Noelle noticing that, moving forward to avoid one coming for her. The attack ending after.
Frisk tried to talk.
Noelle tried to attack.
Suzy continued to talk.
Frisk asked the stranger. "You think killing us will help you feel something?" She frowned. "It won't, it'll just break you more." - The Goner grinned. "Is that personal experience, I hear?" - Noelle, and Suzy were unnerved, defense lowered.
Suzy tried to reason. "I-if you want to feel something...maybe you could try finding a friend?" She offered. "I've hurt before, b-but they help me feel better." - The Goner listened to this. "It's impossible to have friends. When you know they don't matter." He chuckled. "It's a fear some of us have to accept eventually." - Suzy was unnerved, defense lowered. Frisks attack rose.
Noelle attempted to strike at the Goner Kid once more. Using more force in her swing. It did nothing. - Noelle felt unnerved, defense lowered.
"Next phase. Hope you remember what he told you...wait, you never met him." The Goner Kids eyes seemed to spiral. "And you never will."
In the dark, something seemed to blend into reality. The air glitching around them, folding, molding. The began motioning, beckoning...speaking. Faint grey light appeared before the Goner, before bursting, erupting out into phantom hands. One raising, flashing blue. Frisk noticed her companions starting to move, her soul shining, as they were compelled not to move. The blast of light consuming the battlefield, doing nothing.
"Move!" She ordered, grabbing their hands, rushing towards the monster.
The second hand appearing in front of him. Her friends panicked some, only for an orange beam to consume them. Passing over, doing nothing, as they got nearer. The attack ending, with both glowing hands moving to the side of the strange monster. Both with odd holes punched in them.
Frisk didn't know the significance but wasn't keen to find out. Her focus falling on Suzy. The monster was only really listening to Suzy, the realization clicking in her mind.
"Noelle." Frisk grabbed her attention. "We need to destroy the hands."
Noelle grinned a wicked smile. "I can do that."
Frisk decided to attack.
Noelle tried to attack again.
Suzy tried to talk.
Noelle swung as hard as she could at the stranger. Managing to hit one of the hands. It cracked and began to mend some. - Noelle felt encouraged, attack up.
Frisk rushing in after, slashing out with the plastic knife. It caused a proper crack in the hand. Which was struggling to mend now. - Frisk felt encourages, attack up.
Suzy clasped her hands together. "We don't want to fight you, p-please, you can stop now."- The Goner Kid laughed in amusement. "You don't get it. But I guess you can't."
Both hands shined, moving across the battlefield. The mouth of the monster kid beginning to melt again. Dark spreading across the battlefield. Frisk motioned, avoiding another set of spikes. Her companions working to do the same. The monsters left eye spiraling, as the blue hand started moving.
Frisk tried to time it right, avoiding another spike, before stopping. The beam rushing across her, ending. A fast dodge, seeing a spike tear up. Grazing across her soul, in an experience that was still painful to feel. Wincing at the sensation.
"None of them even matter. It all gets dark." His eyes melted for a moment. "You try and save them, and it gets darker."
Frisk and Noelle decided to attack.

Suzy tried to beg.
The two fighters dashed towards the enemy. He began to move, as did the hands. Frisks will compelling the direction of Noelles hit. Bringing it crashing against the cracked blue hand. Causing it to break more. - Noelle felt encouraged, attack up, defense up.
Frisk followed this hit, sliding across the snow. Red streaming from her eyes. The knife slashing out, shattering the hand. - Frisk felt encouraged, attack up, defense up.
Suzy called out, feeling terrified. "Please, stop!" She begged. "Someone will get hurt...you can still stop this." - Goner Kids smile dipped, but he didn't respond.
"They fade away, replaced by similar faces..." Goner Kid remarked. "It gets yet darker. Then, you're the goner." - Frisks attack rose sharply.
The other hand moved to the fore. Blasting the field with orange light. The group moving to avoid it. Frisk noticing shadows dancing below, in the off moments. Reaching out to snag Suzy by the hand, pulling her away from one she was nearly hit by. However, the same couldn't be said for Noelle, who managed to get stabbed by one.
Struggling to continue moving through the blasts, growling under her breath. The reindeer grasping at the wound. The enemy attack ending.
|Frisk 18/24 HP| - |Noelle 10/30| - |Suzy -16/16 HP|
Frisk used spider cider.
Noelle was compelled to use Rude Frost.
Suzy decided to hug.
Frisk tossed a spider cider to Noelle. "Noelle, catch!"
The Reindeer did, drinking it down, while moving forward. Rushing out while tossing it aside. Swinging her stick with all the ferocity she could muster. A gleaming energy erupting from it in a wave. Striking the other hand, exploding it into icy shards. The girl appearing genuinely surprised at having done so.
As it hit, the Goner turned. Expecting another attack, only for Suzy to rush over, and hug him. The monochrome monster giving a confused look. She held tight and didn't let go. His dark expression shifting some, becoming a frown.
The color of the world flickered back. The shadows receding. The hostile monster letting out a long sigh, before she let go.
"Hmm...you remind me of my brother." He noted, adding. "Dumb, friendly, and with the stupidest smile."
"Is that good?" Suzy asked hesitantly.
"He is...everything. Unlike me, he has always mattered." The Goner Kid replied. "If the universe ever lost him...it wouldn't be the same."
"Is that it?" Noelle asked hesitantly. "You're not gonna try and kill us anymore?"
"I won't hurt you anymore..." He answered honestly. "I won't hurt anyone else." He lied, smiling darkly. "I think...I need to go somewhere and think."
Suzy asked. "Are...you gonna be, okay?
"No. Oh, and-" He glanced at Frisks feet. "something for your victory."
The group glanced, Frisk finding a small pile of 40 or so G. When she glanced back, however, the strange monster was gone. The human didn't enjoy that encounter, nor did she trust for a moment he had been honestly pacified. She attempted to push it from her mind, with minimal success.
Noelle looked around. "Where'd he go?"
Suzy smiled, shaking some. "H-hopefully, he went home. I don't think he's doing okay." She noted. "He seemed troubled, and angry."
"I mean, he decided to kill us, just cuz. Troubled is a nice word for it." Noelle remarked tiredly, yawning. "Freaky, weird evil badguy...ugh...whatever. So tired."
Frisk collected the G. "Let's go meet up with Wolfo. Maybe there's someplace we can sleep in town."
Suzy remarked. "That sounds nice." She pouted some. "Maybe a nice fluffy bed, or a really cozy trash can at least."
Noelle glanced and frowned. "You're not...gonna sleep in a trash can."
"They're not so bad." Suzy assured.
"Not...happening." The reindeer girl huffed, asking. "Right Frisk?"
Frisk examined them, smiling. "I dunno, trash cans are pretty cool.."
Noelle didn't appear amused the joke. But Suzy appeared to recognize it as one and snickered. The group starting back towards Wolfo. In truth, they were...tense. Each member processing the dangerous fight in their own little way. Mostly trying not to think about it.
Even still, when they got back to Wolfo, they attempted to tell the wolf about what had happened. However, his attention span was limited, and plainly put, he didn't believe them in the slightest. Stating he hadn't seen or heard anything indicative of a fight. Despite their testimony otherwise, he elected to view it as them having wasted time rough housing with one another.
That thought wasn't specifically the best. But Frisk politely reminded her friends that Wolfo didn't have the best eyesight. So, it was entirely possible he just hadn't seen anything. The group agreeing to shelve the topic for the time being. As it didn't seem very productive to talk about. Though, Suzy did walk much closer to her friends than before. Frisk jumped at shadows while they went. And Noelle seemed just a little bit quieter.
The party proceeded down the rest of the path to Snowdinn. With no other encounters along the way. Save for Wolfo briefly brandishing his sword at some sort of ice monster, who passed by. But he proved to be harmless. Presently 'thinking about his life' and the sort. Sliding by as a big old cube.
It wasn't too much longer until they actually got to their destination. With only a few little pauses along the way, so their guide could check his directions. It was quite a sight, when they saw it directly ahead of them. A strangely expansive town, built into the forest.
A tall building, made up of stacked buildings was present on one side of the town. There were a few more of these smaller psuedo-apartments around. However, most of Snowdinn was dark, very dark. The group hesitating at the lack of light.
Suzy asked about a place to stay for the night. The Sentry groaning tiredly, leading them to an Inn. Where he was even nice enough to get them a room. Indicating it was for one night only. And then they needed to go find their parents.
Frisk was pleased he had been so tired. Or he might have thought that decision over a little more. The kids settling down for the night. Getting some rest, with a little night-light on. Just to stave off the dark, after their encounter.
One by one, falling to sleep. It had been a long day, after all. And the next would be...interesting.
