The fields eventually gave out, to flatland after a time. The growth, the plants, the trees, and even the flowers giving way. Becoming sparse in the dark.
Frisk keeping near her companion, as things went, eyes closed now and then as Chara took her hand to guide the way. Telling her whenever they came across a mushroom to provide light, or another source. Their persistence seemed to be paying off, after a time. They had finally gotten closer, their destination looming. Every step prompting the buildings to be nearer to them. The walking breaking into a jog, falling into a desperate sprint.
They rushed towards it, coming up to what appeared to be the gates of some brilliant dark city. Forgotten in the abyssal place. All the light far behind as they reached it. A mushroom nearby, barely visible in the dark drew the purple-eyed girls attention. A motion causing it to illuminate the area around them, and their destination before them.
Finally, they had arrived.
"What?" She asked.
This place was not what they had hoped it would be. It was nothing of the sort. This 'place' before them was...a mountain of rocks and garbage. She looked over what had looked like buildings before. Compiled piles of trash bags, old computers, and slabs of torn up stone and concrete. To the gave, it was more debris, slabs and pieces falling in a fashion that may resemble a gate, and nothing more. As if to prove this sentiment of hopelessly, a sound came rolling from high above, as another rock fell from the void. Landing on-top of the pile.
The realization sunk Charas spirit. It was...just junk. The only real upside to this place, is that the rain had let up some. Her mind reeling from the fact they had run all that way, and it was just...garbage. Her eye twitched, a shadow in it.
Frisk called out to the abyss. "Hello!" The voice carried. "Is anyone there?"
"Don't bother, nobody-" Chara began.
A voice spoke up from the garbage. "Oh, hOi!"
They paused, turning to the mound. Something terrible looking with eerie pale eyes stared at them from the dark. For a moment Charas heart skipped a beat. And then...a strange cat...dog creature had crawled out. Fidgety, and excited looking. Hopping down and into the light provided. It looked...far less imposing than she thought.
"H-hi!" Chara greeted quickly. "Who, what are-"
"hOi, I-I'm Temmie!" The monster greeted, looking dinged up. "G-goWWy, iz...been so long...so cold...I thought it was just gonna be me, until I finally died." The brief fall into a serious tone marking dread in the small monsters eyes. "B-but YoUZ heRE!"
Frisk raised a brow, and asked. "Uh, hi T-Temmie. Is it...just you here?" She looked around. "How did you get here?"
The Temmie let out a whimper, seeming to try and discern an answer. "T-TemMIe w-wAZ rUnnan From...those putrid fucking guards, a-AND Fell." The monster looked pitiful. "...P-Please, don't leave. It's so lonely in the dark."
Some part of Chara believed there were more of this monster in the dark somewhere. Watching them, with ominous eyes. But, despite looking around, she didn't see anyone else. Her attention returning to this strange, almost definitely dangerous creature. Despite the hesitance, she couldn't help but feel some pity. Crouching down to be more eye-level to the Temmie.
"I...hey, no worries. We won't...leave you here okay?" Chara assured, patting the head of the monster.
Frisk added. "We were...hoping this was a city, or something...with a way to get back."
Temmie shook its head. "N-no...Tem thought the same thing. But it's just so quiet here...there's nothing. Just the dark, and silence. Angel forgive...just rain and whispers." The monsters voice briefly dark, and distressed. "B-but YoUZ heRE, A-and wE can BE frieNDz?" The monster asked. "D-do you HAz Wayz out?"
"We're...trying to find one." Frisk restated more directly. "Chara...I don't-"
Chara reached out, picking up the disheveled looking monster. "It's okay...we'll, figure it out. Like you said, there has to be a way...right?" She examined the depressed looking monster. "Do you want to come with us?"
"Yah yah!" Temmie replied. "W-we Canz be best FrIEnDZ ToO!"
Frisk felt scratching in her head. "We can...be friends definitely." She glanced at Chara, while gripping the collar. "Maybe not...her best though."
Before the duo could do much of anything else, there was a sound. Like energy, bursting from the dark. A yellow bullet smashing into the Temmie. Chara let out a sound of surprise, as the monster broke apart into dust in her hands. Her mind racing, as she struggled to process what had just happened for a moment.
Frisk turned to face the shadows. The light of the mushroom illuminating the space. Providing a glimpse at strange robotic drones floating closer. Alongside a big square one, with four arms, on a wheel. Behind them, a skeleton, wearing a dark hoodie jacket. Similar in some respects to the one Frisk was wearing.
Sans asked. "Was that necessary?"
Alphys replied via drone. "Temmie are soulless little abominations. Given an opportunity, it would have stolen the souls. It's was best to remove it, before it became a threat."
Chara turned, her eyes flushed with confusion, and shadows She said nothing, only stared with a look of malevolence. Hands shaking as the dust slipped away, before they clenched into fists. Hurt clouded her mind, anger taking her heart.
Frisk held out the false knife. "Who...who the hell are you?"
"that's the wrong question kiddo." Sans hummed. "no point answering it though. ain't like you'll be around too much longer anyways." He sighed. "sorry bout that, by the way. you weren't meant to be here...al, I'll handle the human. if you...wanna handle that."
The Skeleton gestured to, and glanced at Chara. Frisk briefly doing the same. She appeared to be quietly, almost far too silently crying. Some things that Frisk believed to be tears falling, though, she couldn't see her face. There was just darkness beneath the rain drenched hood. The light from her purple-eyes seeming to be fading.
Alphys spoke over the speaker. "Of course."
Chara asked. "So what...is this your evil minion, Sans?" She turned to face him. "It's sad really." Her voice unusually calm. "For a moment...I believed Papyrus when he said you were a good person." The skeleton hesitated. "But you're an awful person. Just like me."
Charas smile stretched to unnatural proportions below the hood. Some darkness splashing out against the ground, as she grinned. Blending with the rain in a fashion where it was only really obvious, if one was paying attention.
Sans turned away to face Frisk, the other girl looking confused and distracted. His eye flashed, as Frisks soul flashed blue. A toss sending her flying away, as he vanished to go fight her.
"Would you hurry up, and do your job?" Alphys spoke again. "Contain this pest."
The square robot let out a sound. "Of...course, Alphys." The robot moved closer, the drones circling. "Sorry, Darling. I've been told this is for your own good. Or, well, for the good of the everyone. Please understand."
The world flashed, the blue turning red. The darkness all around growing thicker. A strange robot had come to fight.
Anger boiled to the surface, and grasped for control. Overtaking the child. There was no peace. They wouldn't relent. And she was disgusted with the prospect.
What was left of Chara chose to attack.
Rushing forward before the robot could respond. Striking down with as much force as she could muster. Smashing down in a series of rapid strikes. The force, causing the robot to wheel back a little. But det no damage.
"Wow, there's a lot of anger in that attack. My apologies. I think you'll find I'm mostly indestructible in this form." The robot told her. "You should...probably just give up. You can't beat them, trust me...I know."
The drones swirled in the air, beginning to fire down various yellow bolts at her. The demon moving, weaving through them. Hitting a magical barrier to limit movement, projected from some of the drones. Bullets colliding, one after another, as she couldn't move or evade in any significant way.
The Demon cast |S-Butterfly-Hate|
Dozens of magical butterfly bullets, dripping black ink on the rainy battlefield. They rushed forward, the robot wheeling around to avoid a few. A drone even blocking one of the hits. Before two managed to impact. Dealing...almost no real damage.
A barrage of yellow bullets firing down on her on her butterflies. A few normal bullets managing to impact with her as this happened. She staggered, and some of the butterflies that were still moving were shot down by the drones.
"You can use magic?" The robot asked. "That's very impressive darling. I didn't know humans could do that."
The Demon cast |Phantom Hand|
Darkness shifted, a phantom hand surging out, snatching one of the bullet drones. Crushing it in its palm. Much to the robots surprise. An energy flowing into it, as yellow formed like a ring around the center of the palm. It flowed back across the field, as the next attack against its creator began. Moving down to block the way, firing a big yellow blast out.
The ray of light incinerating the drones, including the ones projecting the containment field. "Goodness. Isn't that a show-stopper of a technique." The Robot remarked. "Very impressive, human."
Somewhere within Charas mind, beyond the scratching, beyond the static was a thought. Something was...familiar about this robots voice. The Demon kept its hold, shaking off the off sensation. Turning her focus back on the robot. Irritated at a lack of damage.
The Demon tried to attack.
The Hand moved to fire at the enemy.
Racing forward to strike again, with a series of quick, violent strikes, they connected. Dealing...no damage in the process. Only really succeeding in making the robot move around a little. Her enemy let out a weak little laugh, as the hand moved forward. Energy charged, firing point blank with an explosive wave of yellow.
She felt a grim satisfaction for a moment, until...the smoke revealed that nothing had happened. The phantom hand moving back over to her side. Her hatred ebbing away, as she tried to process what had just happened. Confusion quickly dominated her thoughts, and was then expressed with sincerity, and calm.
"How?" The hate filled girl demanded. "W-what, b-but, HOW!?"
"Dear, that...isn't going to work." The Robot commented. "Yellow attacks are only good for destroying the attacks of others." The Robot noted, with a little snicker. "I'm afraid they can't damage a foe directly."
"I...what?" Chara twitched. "I didn't know that."
"Nobody covered this with you?" The robot asked. "Oh, I'm sorry darling. We can take a moment and run over the basics if you'd like. Make the fight a bit more entertaining, and fair?"
Alphys groaned over comms. "Mettaton, this isn't your stupid show, you tinheaded idiot. Do not provide tips to the enemy. Just contain it."
Hearing the insults, and recognizing the name broke through to the girl. Making her hesitate. The form in front of her was...she was left curious, and conflicted.
Chara knew the name. "Mettaton...y-you're the guy from TV." She noted, adding. "I-it's you?"
Mettaton turned to face her. "Oh my stars...you know who I am?"
Chara decided to remind Mettaton. "W-we talked on the phone. I called in. Don't you remember me?" The dark slipped from part of her heart, giving it and her eyes a bit of shine. "I was with Papyrus, a-and I called you. You...told me I would do great things. I-I'm Chara."
"You know...Papyrus?" Mettaton sounded surprised, before adding. "Wait, you're the one who called in. By the angel it's you!" The robot sighed, robotically of course. "That was...you have no idea how much I really needed that call, dear."
"I'm really glad." She replied, adding. "Did you...find a way to make the show you wanted?"
"Oh, come now. I can't go giving spoilers, Chara. But, it's a whole relaunch." Mettaton chuckled warmly. "It will be amazing. You'll have to...wait and see."
Chara was silent in response to this. Mettaton appeared to recognize the fault in those words, seeming uneasy with the prospect of the fight now. Before shaking some, in what appeared to be fear. Yet, persevered anyways, and - the light, and colors returned to the world. The fight was over. Mettaton had decided to spare her.
"W-what...you spared me?" She asked, the shadows around her eyes rescinding. "I thought...you'd kill me." She genuinely hadn't expected that. Despite everything.
"Chara...in the whole of the underground, nobody else called besides..." Mettaton trailed a little. "I...you're the only fan I have who...believed in me.." He felt hesitant. "Darling I was...I'm not trying to kill you. I was trying to...capture you and...take you back..." The robot paused. "A-alphys, are we even sure this is the right human?"
The drone voice sounded angry. "Mettaton...what are you doing?"
"Just thinking...do we have-" He began. "isn't there another way?" He inquired. "Couldn't you...maybe, study the soul...and like, make a fake one or something?" He laughed nervously. "Without...hurting her?"
"If you will not act, I will handle it myself." Alphys warned. "You wanted a second chance, and this is it. Do as I command. Now."
Mettaton turned to his fan, and replied. "I...won't do it. It...it wasn't right to begin with. I won't let you hurt the child."
"That thing is not a child. It is a threat, and an opportunity to make a new world." Alphys remarked. "Because we were...old friends, I'll give you one last chance."
The drones moved around, cycling and aiming at the girl. Mettaton moving in the way. Chara noticed a switch on the back of him.
""No." The robot said defiantly.
"Your 'compliance' was never a necessity." Alphys said. "That's the beauty of total system control."
Mettaton whispered. "Flip the switch."
"What?" She asked.
"Just do it." He requested.
Alphys let out a long sigh. "Goodbye, you waste of parts." The drones began to fire down at them. "Beginning override-"
Mettaton said. "Now!"
Chara did as she was requested, and flipped the switch. The robot beginning to shake violently. A dizzying blur of movement seeing the attacking drones torn apart. Smoke billowing, fog filling the area. Preventing her from seeing what was happening. Her eyes opening after a second to see...
The fog had made way to a metallic man. He stood in opposition to the doctor. And blasted down the drones, and attacks that had come their way. He had cannons on two of his arms, and the other two were free up, gripping the barrels. Jagged red wings, with things like spotlights formed from them extending out the side.
Chara blinked, looking surprised. "Mettaton?"
"Chara...this form is going to drain a lot of power, very quickly." Mettaton replied, his voice distinctly less robotic. "I need you to leave...to flee."
"I...t-there's nowhere I can go!" Chara told him in a panic.
Alphys's voice spoke from several more drones. "You're using Neo?"
Mettaton replied. "You never got around to finishing it. So I figured your over-ride likely wouldn't work."
"That function won't. But you're an idiot. You're like a piece of walking cardboard." Alphys remarked. "And I've grown tired of you."
Several of the drones fired down at them. Hearing the comment about cardboard, Chara decided to do something. She moved to the side, and opened her spell list.
Chara cast |Intangible|
The blasts raced through the two, much to Mettaton Neos surprise. The drone peppering down as many bullets as they would. The robotic-man charging the cannons. The beams tearing through the air, shredding through the drones one after another. Leaving the space empty, as the cannon faded.
For a moment Chara felt hopeful, only for more to flow into the air. Were they...endless? How many did this evil minion have? How many had Sans made? She tried to answer these questions, but shook it off when her ally started to speak.
"How much mana do you have left?" Mettaton asked, she checked, and looked anxious. "That's...unfortunate." He straightened up. "So much hostility Alphys. And here I thought we were friends."
"You were worthless from the first moment I met you. You were just a convenient idiot. A science experiment, that failed at every expectation." She said, shadows weaving in her words, as Mettaton seemed to wince. "Your cousins were right. You're a pathetic creature. And a foolish one, thinking for a moment that this 'defiance' matters."
Chara growled a bit at this. "You...you're an awful friend. A-and I won't let you win."
Alphys remarked. "This is a pointless exercise. Remotely disabling power. Goodbye Mettaton."
Chara hardly had time to react before Mettaton shifted some, and began to stagger to his knees. The center of the robotic man beginning to dim quickly, sparking with electricity. Her confusion was written on her face, as it was for the robot in tandem.
"Eh-heh...way to...ruin a finale." Mettaton laughed nervously. "Remote shutdown...eh...cheap trick, Darling."
Chara tried to help him back up, but he was too heavy. "N-no no no, y-you have to get up."
"I'm so sorry...Chara." He managed to breath out, before the power faded.
"What a waste of time. I'll scrap him later." Alpha sighed some. "Enough of this. Be a good girl, and surrender. A new world is waiting."
The girl felt her anger, and alarm rising. Her will darkening, fear twisting twisting, rising. A sound drawing her attention, as she turned to look for Frisk. Her eyes widening.
Frisk slid across the ground. Huffing some, before noticing rows of bones rushing at her. Alarm gripped her, as she jumped, diving just above them. Another set coming from the side. Forcing her to push back, a piece of her hair clipped by one.
A sound came to her attention. Something...familiar sounding. Like a low whirr, or a strange breath. Glancing back to see a giant skeletal dragon-skull. A massive beam erupting from its mouth. An instinct kicked in, prompting a narrow dodge, the beam causing wind to sweep across her. Eyes open, and alert. Turning to face Sans.
"impressive dodges kiddo." Sans remarked, winking. "you done this before or somethin?"
|Proceed|
Frisk didn't recall fighting this skeleton. Her focus moving to Chara stuck in her own fight. She had to act...she had to help. Gripping the knife she rushed out. Slashing at Sans. He vanished easily dodging. Her expression one of rage, albeit unintentionally.
"wow...you seem unusually pissed off." Sans commented. "no words...nothin?"
Frisk glared at him. For whatever reason...seeing him filled her with an unnatural agression. He was familiar. But...she didn't know how.
|Proceed|
Frisk decided it didn't matter. She was filled with determination, and rage. She wasn't going to let Chara get hurt...she couldn't.
The scratching was getting louder, while her thoughts began getting quieter. One of the blasters appearing, firing out at her, as she stepped to the side. Another appearing before her, only for her to run towards it, as another appeared behind her.
As she neared, her soul flashed blue. Sending her up in the air. Bones filling the space. Landing against the bottom of one she rushed along it, one of the blasters firing. Jumping up, or down in this instance, she avoided the next. Using one of the bones as a platform to get closer to the skeleton,..
A row of bones rushing where she was moving. Rushing at them she pushed off her platform, hand catching the top of one. Diving off, to slash at the skeleton again. Prompting him to teleport away.
"Why do you want Chara?" The girl asked. "S-she hasn't done anything to you, has she?"
"you don't need to worry about that." Sans noted "unusually nimble, aren't you kid?"
|Proceed|
Wind howled through the abyss, pushing back the girls hood. Her eyes were covered by her hair, the rain pouring across her. Her jacket flowing like a cape in the dark.
A familiar feeling hung in the air, piercing her mind. A set of words, and a voice overtaking the emptiness that her thoughts once occupied. A familiar warning echoing from some space unseen, whispering, Her eyes growing dimmer, the knife coming to aim at the skeleton.
"Sans..." She began. "It's a beautiful day outside." She commented, quietly. "Birds are singing...flowers are blooming-" Sans felt a terrible feeling. "on days like these..."
"kids like you-" Sans finished. "Should be burning in hell." The girl was quiet, her soul shining red. "if I'm right...you're a little more than some kid, ain't cha-" The girl smiled. "hate being right. well, it's nice to know we've met before."
|Proceed|
Frisk still grasped for some semblance of herself. But it was easier to just give in. To let this instinct 'assist' her. Rushing towards the skeleton. She slashed at where he was, only for him to vanished again. A turn on her heel, and a flick of her wrist following. The false knife tearing through the air. Sans appearing, only to rapidly dodge again, as it got inches from his eye. The plastic knife burying itself in the earth.
A row of blasters materialized, and began to fire. Forcing her to sprint towards the knife. Diving for it, only for her soul to flash blue. Throwing her back towards the beams. Spinning as she went, she spread her arms out. The blasts being narrowly missed as she flew across. Landing, with a highly unnatural grace.
"Just give in puppet." The girl whispered, as the last strands of thought began to sever. "You've served your purpose."
|PROCEED|
They snapped, and the dim eyes began to get brighter. The soul shining, turning a darker shade of red. Crimson eyes burning bright, as the smile became a permanent fixture.
"Doctor..." The girl whispered. "Where are the real knives?"
The space around the girls hand glitched, a motion seeing a new knife appear in her grasp. This one...much sharper than the last one. It slowly raised, aimed across the field at her foe.
"you seem different." Sans sighed. "ya know...I don't think I ever got your name, kid."
"I am the maker of demons." The red-eyed girl spoke. "The assistant. But you may call me the 'True' Frisk."
T-Frisk decided to continue attacking. - Movement speed up.
The kid moved much faster than before. Like a blur, slashing at Sans. He had a split second to dodge. Moving to another point, only to see the knife coming at him, forced to teleport again. A blaster left behind, firing out. Sending the kid flying back, only to land, and shrug off the hit.
T-Frisk used |DETERMINATION| - HP fully restored
Sans noticed the wounds leave, and tried to focus. Sending out dozens of attacks, and spinning bones. Marked with a blue soul, the kid began to dive, and dodge. Weaving with unnatural accuracy through them. The blasters forming, trying to stop her progress. Each one getting close, but never managing to hit.
The knife swung out again, the skeleton forced once more to dodge the attack. Appearing some distance away, as the little megalomaniac just kept going.
"true frisk huh. what are you even after?" Sans asked. "what's the point of all this?"
"You're asking the wrong person. You want to know what 'he' wants. What 'his' motivation is. But I'm not at liberty to tell you." She darted through another series of attacks. "Mine are quite simple, however." T-Frisk replied, smiling as she slashed again, forcing him to dodge. "I'm just trying to help a friend."
Bones spread out in a giant circle around the kid. Moving as some began to push towards her fast. A low breath escaping her lips, as she weaved to avoid them. Ducking, jumping, or just sliding out of the way.
Feeling the pressure, he made her soul blue again and threw her out into the dark. Blasters forming in the air. The girl snickered, and slashed out, stabbing into one. Using the dug in knife, to swing out of the way as they both fired.
The blast erasing the two, as she landed. Various sharp bones flying at her. Turning, she carefully stepped between row of attacks. Moving back with alarming speed, even as one sliced across her jacket. Another knife glitching into her hand.
"you gotta funny way of showin friendship." Sans commented. "leaving her here in the dark...I bet you coulda gotten out at any point."
"Your view is limited. I'm helping her make a new world." T-Frisk told him calmly. "It took me awhile to realize. But...she needs my help to do it. I just have to help her see how badly she needs it."
"new world huh...heh, if you're such friends, then why hide your demeanor?" He asked. "heard those echo flowers kid...you sure ain't talkin like you was."
T-Frisk snickered. "Oh, that wasn't me. That was Frisk, this body. Isn't she sweet?" The demon-maker inquired. "The Doctor let me make her, as a gift." She slashed at him as he vanished. "Now, no matter the version, no matter the timeline-" She chased after him "we'll never have to be apart again."
"You sound less like a friend, and more like a stalker." Sans remarked, as T-Frisk twitched. "a twisted brat who made a deal with some sort of devil. just to make a fake version of yourself. an idealized one. to be friends with someone who probably thought you were as fucked up as I do."
"You got me talking...heh, trying to buy time Sans?" T-Frisk asked, as he tried another volley of attacks. "Idiot. You were out of that the moment you picked up the file." She told him, dodging them. "Who do you think placed it there?" He felt the knife cut through his jacket, barely vanishing in time. "Don't you worry though. Soon...you'll be erased...along with this miserable world."
She rushed towards him, her soul turning blue. He cast her back, attempting to blast at her again. To use any number of attacks to just put her down. Yet she continued to dodge, move, or even when hit, heal. The worst part was...he was getting tired.
Nearer to where they started, one of his blasts connected. Doing quite a bit of damage to the thing wearing the girls skin. Unlike before though, she didn't heal it. T-Frisk lunged out at him, slashing. He dodged again, this time with a basic side-step, much to her apparent surprise.
Another Blaster formed, aimed at her. "expecting that kid?"
"It won't save you." She muttered in amusement, the blast tearing through her. The force sending her body flying back, rolling, and hitting against the wall. "You're destined to die Sans. You will never...ever...win."
"sure seems like I'm winnin." Sans noted, appearing a short distance from the dying 'human.' "I don't know where ya came from. and I don't care. I can read you. I can feel your sins." His eyes darkened. "you little freak."
"Oh, Sans." T-Frisk laughed softly. "You're so much fun to play with." She attempted a final slash with the knife, as he stepped back. A bone tearing up, and through her body. "But...you've lost."
Sans was left to process that statement, as the overwhelming brightness faded from the girls eyes. The dark collar around her neck clicking, opening. A little gasp coming from her as it fell. He hadn't noticed it before, watching as it glitched out of reality.
Frisk looked confused, wracked with pain. Looking up at him with horror in her eyes. Struggling for a moment, as blood splashed down, leaving her body. Her soul shaking violently, cracking. Pieces of it seeming to fall apart.
"I don't...understand." Frisk managed to choke out, as her soul shattered. Her body slouching forward. The light fading from her eyes.
Chara watched the attack hit, saw the blood flowing. The momentary shock, watching the other girls soul break apart. Watching her body slouch over.
"Frisk?" She asked in confusion, running towards her.
She nearly got there, before her soul shined a blue color. A forced sending her flying back, slamming hard against the ground. Groaning from the pain of it, she tried to get up, only to be slammed down again. A set of drones marking the area, igniting a field around her. Her soul shined, as she managed to get up, only to hit the strange field of light. Pounding a fist against it.
"Frisk!" She called out, shaking. "You fuck face you-" She couldn't think of an insult. "Y-you killed her...h-how?" She felt confused, why wasn't Frisk loading. "Load...Frisk you have to load!" She yelled, the skeleton starting in her direction. "Frisk?"
A drone flew around the space, the voice of Alphys coming from it. "Sans...please contain the subject for a little while longer." She requested. "I'm working on rebooting Mettaton into compliant order."
Sans examined the girl trapped in the barrier, glancing at the depowered robot. "yeah. just work quick. before she does something."
Chara growled, hate pumping into her. She tried to leap up to grab the edge of the barrier, another layer being projected stopping her. They closed in more, and pushed her into a smaller cube. She turned and punched it, hitting hard. Heart racing as she kept pounding on the barrier. Causing it to crack, before her blue tinted soul was tossed back, slamming against the other wall. Giving the one she hit time to mend.
She turned and punched violently at the other side, accomplishing the same thing. Before being thrown back against the other one. Her every attempt failing, as she was brought down to the ground, again.
"Why?" Chara demanded, looking at the skeleton. "I never did anything to you." She noted, her pain boiling to the surface. "Y-you even told the truth...that you know mom" Sans hesitated. "T-that she was looking for me...a-and...I don't understand."
"That's the thing, Kid." Sans sighed, sounding serious for a moment. "The thing she's lookin for...it doesn't exist anymore." He noted, pacing. "What you are...that ain't it."
"I don't understand." Chara gripped the side of her head. "I just...want to go home."
Alphys spoke up. "You do not have a home. And you do not need to worry about Toriel." She declared, as Mettaton began to twitch, a couple drones tinkering with him. "As far as she'll know...you ran off, and never came back."
Chara began to breath faster, and faster. Hyperventilating. She didn't know what they were doing...but she wouldn't let that happen. Chara knew that Toriel would never stop looking for her. That she wasn't okay, and that she wasn't doing well. Even if her mother was the strongest person she knew, how long could she last against this seemingly endless onslaught of evil things?
"I just wanna go home." Chara whimpered, her soul staining black, eroding the blue. "Let me-" Her eyes darkened, as she smashed her fist against the barrier. "go home!"
She began attempting to break the barrier again, only to be thrust back. Swinging faster, less composed, more violent. Each hit doing more damage. But she couldn't get out of the grasp. She attempted to use a spell, but didn't have enough TP. She growled, and roared a feral scream. Being tossed around, unable to make progress.
Sans whispered to her. "that's the problem kid. you're a danger to everyone. not just here, but everywhere. whatever...whoever made you knows this." He stepped around the barrier, her dark eyes tracking him. "wanting to use you, to erase this world. I can't let that happen. you're a demon...and you can't be allowed to run free."
Alphys chimed in. "I've got the systems reworked. Restarting." She hummed. "Don't worry, we aren't going to kill you. In fact, you'll save everyone, in a sense." She noted. "It'll be like...you're sleeping. Only, you never wake up."
The demon glanced over at the broken body of Frisk. Recalling the feeling of the Temmie breaking apart. Mettaton trying to save her. Of Papyrus hoping to help her. Of her mom trying to keep her safe. If she had just stayed in the ruins everyone would have been okay. They would be okay. If she hadn't failed so many times, they...her thoughts began to shift these thoughts.
"No." The demon known as Chara whispered, a purple ring shining in her black eyes. "This...isn't my fault. It's...yours." She stared up at Sans. "All of you...every...one of you. They hurt Mom and tortured her. T-they left her blind in an eye." Her voice echoing with a demonic whisper. "They separated my family, you took it...alll, away from me."
She began to twitch violently and sat upright. The dark no longer leaking. The hate solidifying.
Chara continued. "Sans...you threw me into a pit, y-you killed me, when I did nothing, to you!" She began to laugh madly. "I made friends, a-and they left me. T-they abandoned me, or died..." She laughed louder, wilder, as Mettaton began to start moving, the drones moving away. "And you just kept taking. Taking EVERYTHING!" She screamed in fury. "I HATE YOU. I hate you and this whole...ROTTEN TIMELINE!"
The final bit clicked, alarm rising in Sans. He moved to form a blaster, to try and stop this. Whatever this was he had helped create. A shot hitting him from behind. Confusion setting in, as he glanced to see a drone.
"Thank you for your co-operation, Sans." Alphys spoke, with an echo.
He fell apart into dust in front of the barrier. But Chara hadn't realized. Her hatred fueled her. Her soul shining with dark purple light. She hated this place, and it was clouding every corner of her mind.
She has persevered through it as long as she could. But it was awful. The people were awful, they hurt each other. They abused their friends. They were nasty, and cruel, and she wanted to go home. She refused to be taken by these creatures. She wouldn't give in, she wouldn't back down.
The word shone before her. She would Persevere. She would...do it right, next time.
|RESTART|
She pressed the prompt, her will flowing into it. The world seeming to rumble in the aftermath. The prompt shining brighter, and brighter. Consuming the dark in a glow of purple light.
The sensation was like a flickering thing. A glitch running through the air. Static, and then a sense of being nowhere, and everywhere. The entire history of her actions running backward, burning from her mind. Her memories unraveling, her perceptions bleeding into the glitching code. And then...the world tore, and twisted. The characters within being scattered.
And the underground went empty.
In a place dark, darker, yet darker...the dim glow of a screen was visible.
Hundreds, thousands of these screens decorated this abyss. On each of them worlds, events playing out. Lines of celestial light, and realities monitored. Some vanishing in a genocidal slash. Others persisting into a wonderful sunshine. Yet, in this moment, two sets of eyes were fixed on just one screen.
The image within was of a timeline. It was glitching, fracturing around the edges. Tearing itself apart in a wave of purple light. And yet, the dark held it together. Something keeping it stable, even as it begged to collapse from the force.
A man watched this, and smiled. "How wonderful." He snickered. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
The line on the screen going haywire, the purple light stretching out like strands. Reaching through other screens. Swinging violently, brushing against, and cleaving into others. The dark copying pieces from each impact. Pulling the unrelated strands together. Some of the light even leaking through the screen, the man reaching out. Brushing a hand against it, as it recoiled from him, and dissipated. Pieces from the various timelines bleeding in. The copied data being used to mend the torn tissue of the timeline.
"It seems...different." The voice of his assistant remarked.
"I had hoped you'd paid attention. Unlike a Reset, data is always lost in a |RESTART|." The man replied.
"I...remember. Using a Restart often rips the timeline apart. Then, it patches itself back together with similar data." She recalled.
"This one is...mending itself, with stolen pieces. Using them to repair the damaged code." The Man commented. "Fueled by something more than just a will to persevere." He placed a hand on the monitor, a hole punched in his palm. "It was able to copy things from unrelated worlds."
The timeline began to settle. All the various pieces of data. The concepts, and ideas melding together. Reconfiguring itself to make sense of the temporary chaos these new ideas provided.
"Then..." The assistant began.
"Yes. The first act, is finally complete." The man noted. "Finally. A success."
"What type of world is it?" She asked. "What do we call it?"
The Man hummed. "So many affected characters. And it still bears the tint of a Fell world. Delightful." He pondered. "A character altered fell world."
"Isn't that a lot of them?" She asked. "And that's a little wordy, isn't it?"
"You have a point, assistant." The man pondered. "Let's shorten it, then." The man turned. "Mark this down."
She replied. "Designation?"
"CharacterFell...mark it was having resulted from a Restart." The man ordered.
She remarked. "That's still wordy, Doctor. You know you hate it when they're wordy."
"Very well. Then I suppose we'll mark it as CharaFell." He stated, asking. "Are you happy with that? Having it named after your little obsession?"
The red-eyed assistant smiled. "Very." She glanced at some of the other screens. "What do we do with the 'rejects' from this experiment?"
"As a reward for your diligent work. You may have them." The man commented, as she smiled a twisted smile. "Have fun. But. Don't let them. Distract. From our work."
"Thank you. Doctor." She replied.
The assistant gave a formal bow and moved through the abyss. The man moving to continue his dark work, as she bled over to the monitor. Etching into it the words requested. A label, for this new reality.
CharaFell - Restart
