"Say, those Three Great Families, what did they even do to deserve such power that equal the Duke? Or even the King?"

"... Am I to pretend that you didn't read nor listen to any of their great works?"

"Boring. Can you summarize them for me?"

"Sure."

"Thanks."

"The Kureiji Family was the one that made the chaotic political state stable enough for the Royal Family to get to the throne. The Pavolia Family was the one that fixed the declining economy and saved the country from near collapsed. And the Melfissa Family was the one that managed to repel invasions and rebellions, making them the most powerful military family of our kingdom."

"...I don't like the fact that they have too much power."

"Fortunately enough, they're the type of people you can trust."

"Signals of Hololive 2: The Tale of Risu"

CHAPTER 1: The Earth-Shattering

Ages ago, a great beast was born.

The Continent of Lo was under threat in its imminent destruction.

A powerful being bringing the end hailed from beyond the high sky. A disastrous monster known as the Baneful Moon had descended from the craddle of the astrals.

With its unmatched might, it swept through powerful kingdoms of told. None may able to save themselves - nor may escape the wrath of the Baneful Moon.

When nearly all hope was lost, three figures emerged from the ruined continent. In their arms carried powerful tools for salvation. They had risen up against the monster that sought their demise.

Together, the three, pushed back the encroaching evil from the last bastion of the continent until the end.

But as one would expect, the Three Heroes are but mortals given powerful strengths that were not enough to decisively end the Baneful Moon. And as they slowly drive the Baneful Moon and its wrathing forces until the end, it finally reached a breaking point.

The Three Heroes appeared to be at their limits. And so, they sacrificed their lives in order to seal the Baneful Moon away. They wished to slay it for good but it is futile no matter they do, as the monster seemed to be getting more powerful the more it was getting overpowered.

Alas, they resulted in simply sealing the monstrous beast. Using their souls as keys to shut the seal away from the world.

Somewhere near the very continent, where the final battle had began and concluded, the saved people of Lo had erected three sanctuaries in response for the Three Heroes' wishes to hide their souls tgere and be protected from evil intentions.

...

Or so how it goes.

Many years had passed, this story had now began to fade into obscurity. The story turned into a myth, as next generations of people found that protecting the sanctuaries was just nothing and vainful role, only a few remained loyal to the story.

Those few, then became something you can count in your hands.

...

One day, in a place called 1stGen Ramp, a young woman by the name of "Ayunda Risu", is a mercenary, a new one of that. She called herself the Nut Walker, yet no one even knows that. She entered the Village of 1stGen, searching for a job as a mercenary.

She looked around the village looking for a guild. She then asked a nearby guard stationed by the entrance of the village. The guard then told her that there was an inn by the northwest of the village. Risu thanked the guard as she made her way towards the aforementioned place, not long after, she found an inn from where the guard had told her.

Apparently, the owner of the Inn told her that the Inn also act as a Guild, because the village was living in an isolated area and there are only weak monsters around, which the guards are enough to deal with. Risu have no problem as long as she can find a job as a mercenary. And so the owner of the inn gave her a task requested from a certain man. Her first task was to go near the entrance, there, was a man asking for help to deliver a chest to the nearby Village Garden.

Risu accepted the request as she made her way to the location. On the way, she noticed a few people wearing an armor that seems to be sturdier than the guards she saw. She watched them looking over, as if they were searching something, before going away. She just brushed them off as she made her way near the entrance.

Just near the entrance, a small building can be seen with a man sitting there by the front door. Risu asked if he was the man who was asking for help to deliver a chest. The man was delighted to see her as he pulled out the cover beside him, a small chest can be seen.

The man gave Risu the chest and told her that she must deliver the chest by the west of the Ramp, the Village Garden. And that he told her to be very careful to what she was holding and she should give it to a man in a black cloak. Risu nodded as the man hurriedly left the place.

For some reason, she felt a strange vibration in the chest but she simply brushed it off.

She then left the village and returned to the Ramp to where she came from first. Then she headed West, fighting small monsters on the way, until she reached the Village Garden. She entered the village before she was stopped by a guard who asked her what was happening in the 1stGen Village.

Risu do not know why so she was the one who asked back. Apparently the guard heard a rumor from the 1stGen Village that a group of knights were searching for someone to arrest because they stole something. She have no idea about the news so the guard let her go. Risu wondered why but nonetheless she entered the village.

Unlike 1stGen, the Garden appeared to be more organized and well-bricked walls were surrounding it. Risu approached the nearby stall that sells food before she saw a man in black cloak. She approached the man and asked him if he was the person whom the man that requested in 1stGen. The cloaked individual nodded to her answer as she gave the chest to him. The man then gave her the payment for her job before he hurriedly left the place.

Risu returned back to 1stGen only to see the armed individuals increased in the village. As she made her way back to the Inn, one of the armed men called her out. She approached them as a bigger man faced her.

He introduced himself as the Captain and the rest of the armed men as the Knights of Faith, they are the people who are following the steps of the Three Heroes and are faithful that the story about their heroic will that fought the Baneful Moon was real.

Risu had heard of the story before but it was only a summarized version and she thought it was a myth. The Captain agreed to her but they believed that it was real and not simply a tale, they are the ones that are guarding the sanctums bestowed upon them as their responsibility to protect the seals to prevent the potential revival of the Baneful Moon.

So Risu asked why she was called. Apparently, the Captain was searching for a man who was carrying a chest. Risu told him that she got a request from a man to delivered a chest to someone in the nearby village. The Captain was shock as he told the young woman that the chest she delivered was one of the seal that was stolen.

She was shocked to know this as she apologized greatly to the Captain. The Captain simply sighed, now that they know that the chest had fallen into the wrong hands, they would now focus to the other keys that are from the other sanctums instead. Risu felt somewhat guilty so she asked to tag along and help them, though the Captain warned her, but she ought to do this since it was her fault in the first place.

The Captain was expecting an attack in the second sanctum, the Peafowl Sanctum near the east of Pavolia - the region they were in. Risu understood as she prepared food for her journey, though she asked what happened and how did this problem started.

The Captain answered her that there was a young woman by the name of "Hoshinova Moona" who stirred trouble in their ranks in the Knights of Faith. And ever since then, their defenses had weakened and an unknown group of dark individuals had stolen the key and that they were searching for it.

Risu nodded in confirmation as she finished preparing. She then followed the Captain along with the other knights.

Dusk came to view as they finally arrived at the sanctum. It appeared to be a small stronghold with large building and it seemed to be where the second key was located. The captain told Risu to be prepare this night because he was expecting an attack from the dark individuals.

But they were not expecting something else.

And so night slowly came and a soldier came running in the Sanctum with terror. He told the Captain that a large group of demons are entering the sanctum by the north side. The Captain was shocked to see demons now entering the stronghold, he ordered the men to be prepare and protect the building the with their lives.

Risu asked the Captain why the demons are here instead of those dark individuals. Apparently the seal that Risu had delivered had a dark power in it, like the other keys, and those dark individuals must have managed to harnessed the dark power once locked and summoned the demons.

Fighting against the demons proved to be difficult. The monsters are very strong and the knights are no match. Risu took down a few demons but the numbers she killed was nowhere near what the Captain did. However, as the knights died one by one, Risu retreated back in the main building with the Captain, who was in a bad condition. He told the remaining knights to retreat in the building and hold the door.

The few remaining knights held the door closed as the demons pushed hard to open it. But they were thrown away quickly as demons flooded the room.

Risu and the Captain climbed up the podium where a small chest can be seen where she immediately recognized the similarities from the one she had delivered. Back to the problem at hand, the demons had killed the remaining knights below the podium, only Risu and the Captain was left alive. Then, came two dark figures who appeared to be the mastermind of this event.

A dark demon in black armor with yellow trim called himself the "Right-Hand Mo", and the other one was just a simple-looking knightess. But the captain recognized the knightess with fury as he knew - it was Hoshinova Moona.

Moona had a wicked smile upon her face as she talked to the Captain, brushing off her betrayal to the Knights of Faith. Then she asked the Captain to hand over the chest that contains the second key of the seal.

Risu asked the Captain what are they gonna do and the captain looked at her. The Captain simply smiled as he suddenly created a portal from his magic power, he then gave the chest to Risu, who was surprised, and pushed her off to the portal, telling her to run, before the portal closed off.

The knightess Moona was mad as she ordered Mo to kill the Captain. The wounded Captain simply held his sword despite his condition. He made one mighty yell before everything turned dark.

...

Meanwhile, Risu was teleported at the southern gate of the sanctum but far from it. She looked back only to see the buildings burning from the other side of the walls burning. She held the chest tightly, and simply ran towards the forest which was known as the Blue Flock Forest for its trees' leaves are all colored blue.

She continued to run in the forest before she tripped over a root while looking back and got knocked out when her head landed on the stone. The chest spilled out its container revealing a small, white pearl with darkness oozing out from it.

On the next day, Risu woke up to find herself in a house. She was saved by a man known as a "Sage". The Sage asked her what happened and the mercenary told him about the situation. The man made a grim expression as he held the chest that Risu was carrying before she passed out. The Sage told her that, if it comes to this, she must get the Hammer of Eradication.

The Sage told her that, if the keys are being collect by an evil force, then they have no other choice but to destroy the keys once and for all. Risu asked what was the Sage affiliation to the Knights of Faith, and he answered her that he was a friend of the Captain.

He was the Sage, a descendant of one of the Three Heroes by the title of "Magus", while the Captain was a descendant of the hero that held the title "Vanguard", and the traitorous knightess Moona was the descendant of the last one with the title "Raven".

Risu was shocked to know this revelation, but she wanted to know why Moona had betrayed the Knights of Faith if she has connection with the righteous legends. The Sage could not give her a conclusive answer. He, and the late-Captain he talked before all this trouble had began, could only speculate that something must've happened to her but they do not know what, how and why.

And so the Sage asked Risu's help to get the Hammer of Eradication in order to destroy the two remaining keys. She must collect the handle of the hammer that was entrusted to an elf in the elven village called Tur, and the head chief in the dwarven village called Key near the Cook Mountain.

On the way to elven village of Tur, Risu will pass through a small settlement called Mep Outpost and tasked her to find a person, who was a scholar, named "Hanasaki Miyabi".

The Sage will be staying in the house to create a message for the remaining Knights of Faith from the order to protect the last sanctum - Kris Sanctum. Risu thanked the Sage as she was given a map to her location and hurriedly made her way out of the forest.

She continued heading south, whilst battling hostile monsters along the way, until she reached a plain. Just by the west, she found a settlement. This must be the Mep Outpost, she thought. She searched for a man named Miyabi, and there, she found him just outside his house.

She told Miyabi that the Sage was looking for him. And this made the scholar turned serious as he thanked the mercenary woman before leaving. After that, Risu continued on heading to the west and quickly arrived at the first village of the elves - Tur.

She noticed that the people here are elves, who are supposed to be a race hidden from the humans by living isolated in the forest. But she found the elves here talking, and even walking alongside with some humams. It was a little strange but she shook her head to focus on the mission ahead.

She asked for anyone where she can find the handle for the Hammer of Eradication. An elven guard approached her and asked why she needs it, she said that she must use the hammer that was entrusted upon them.

The guard told her to wait as he called the elder of the village. A few minutes later, an Elven Elder walked up to her and asked if it is from the request of the Sage. She agreed and the Elven Elder nodded, but the old elf wanted to test her and see if the person asked by the Sage is worthy of carrying such valuable item.

The elder told her that the elven race is mostly in seclusion, away from the other races. And for them to just simply be on the humans lands made them worry enough for their dear life but they simply have to cope with it. Until when elves and humans started to mingle, this village is a great example.

Although there was that, they just could not let some stranger hand over an important item. Hearing this, Risu asked what she can do to obtain the handle of the hammer and their acknowledgement. The Elder asked her for a help if she could kill a small earth golem that was destroying the cleanliness of the river near them. Risu nodded and the elder told her the way.

The earth golem was nothing for them but they lacked sufficient power to defeat it. They were, after all simple people in the land and most of the people here are not well trained except for a few guards, so her help will be greatly appreciated. Risu understood this as the elder told her to go in the cave and reach the other side.

Risu entered the cave and encountered hostile bats. The pesky monsters are very easy to kill but they just moved too quick so she had to use her her magic power in order to kill them, especially using wind to cofuse their movement and slow them down. After that, she made it to the other side of the cave and found a river. Upon noticing the running water, that it was dirty. There, she found a small earth golem covered in mud.

She prepared her weapon, a pair of long daggers, and engaged with the monster. Unlike the bats, fighting the golem is easier, she just need to be wary of its big and muddy fist that could definitely leave her a few cracking bones if she ever got hit. In the end, she defeated the golem easily.

After that, she saw a bunch of blue fairies appearing out from the trees around her. She recognized them as the Water Fairies as these fairies started to cleanse the dirty river. The Elven Elder arrived in time to watch the river slowly being cleaned by the fairies. He thanked Risu for her hard work as she guided back to the village.

Because of her willingness and strength by defeating the golem, the Elven Elder is happy enough that he'll give the handle of the hammer to her.

It is almost dusk and Risu would like to continue her journey towards the dwarven village, Key. She bid the elder farewell before she started heading north. If she won't meet any unfortunate events on her way, then she would arrive at the village by night and take a rest there.

Fortunately, nothing much happened. She safely arrived at the location near the base of the mountain. Tired from her walking and running, she entered the village and asked for a rest from a nearby dwarf. The dwarves were surprised to see her in this lonesome mountain where they lived at. The female dwarves then guided her back to their Inn, which fortunately enough is big enough to house human-sized people.

The dwarves had built the Inn for a certain Sage, and Risu tried to guessed if it was the Sage in the forest they were talking about. The dwarves were surprised to hear that she knows the Sage. An older looking dwarf had emerged befpre them and greeted Risu. The Dwarven Elder introduced himself as the chieftain of the village and he was an acquaintance of the Sage, he asked what was Risu's purpose of coming here.

The mercenary woman asked the chieftain if she could get the head of the Hammer of Destruction that was in their position. And just like Risu had suspected from the Village of Tur, the chieftain cannot trust her that fast. So she asked if there was something she could do in order to obtain their acknowledgement.

The chieftain will give her objective. But he told her to sleep and rest first and wait for tomorrow. Risu was thankful enough to hear that as she felt her body sore from the travel.

She slept soundly in the Inn of the dwarves to continue the next day.
