Chapter 1

From birth to age 5.

It's June 15th 1954 the day has dawned. Sunny, warm, and pleasant in the town of Glass Shard beach New Jersey. No dough as the goes on people will make their way to the beach. Let's shift our focus to the hospital. Up on the labor and delivery floor. A woman named Caryn Pines has just given birth. She has chocolate brown hair and has blue eyes. Her husband Filbrick has brown hair and has brown eyes. Caryn and Filbrick now have twin boys. They also have a five year old son at home named Sherman.

Sherman has dark brown hair and has brown eyes. They named the new born twins Stanford and Stanley.

"Oh my goodness the twin named Stanford. Has six fingers on each hand. And six toes on each foot." gasped the nurse

"Great we could have a child that. Could be special needs." snarled Filbrick

"Oh now Filbrick he's just special." assured Caryn

The nurse brought over the twins and gave them to Caryn. She looked at her newborns lovingly. Filbrick saw that the doctor was still in the room.

"Doctor could you take Stanford? And remove his extra fingers and toes? I'm not putting up with a child that might need special utensils. When he's older." asked Filbrick

Just then everyone in the room heard a loud smack. The nurse and the doctor looked and it looked like. That Caryn had reached over smacked her husband hard.

"Filbrick Elmer Pines you leave our son alone. If I find out. That to do that again. You will be riding the couch. Until the cows come home. scolded Caryn

By that afternoon Caryn and Filbrick arrived at home. Their home is a large brick building. The main floor is a pawn shop that Filbrick run. The second floor is where they live. Caryn went upstairs with the twins. While Filbrick splash some water on his face. Then he got ready to open the shop. Once upstairs Caryn found Sherman and Sally. Sally is the wife of the Hot Belgian waffle restaurant next door. She and Caryn are good friends. And they are in the same book club. Sally stopped what she was doing and said "Oh look who's back." Both Sally and Sherman went up to Caryn. Caryn sat down on a chair so both Sally and Sherman can see the twins.

"Oh my look at them aren't they precious." marveled Sally

Sherman looked at the twins with interest. Caryn smiled and said "Meet you brothers Stanford and Stanley."

"Oh wow I have two brothers." marveled Sherman

"Oh my Caryn how are you going to tell then apart?" asked Sally

"Well I'm going to dress them differently. That and Stanford has six fingers one each hand. And six toes on each foot." stated Caryn

"Oh wow it sounds like you have one special little boy." gushed Sally

Caryn put the twins in the play pen. Then Sally left to go back next door. This story isn't about the Pines family. We are going to follow the life of Stanford.

10 months old

Stanley and Stanford are now 10 months old. Caryn is in the kitchen. She's making cookies for a church bake sale. Stanley and Stanford are in their highchairs. Filbrick and Sherman are working in the pawn shop. To keep the twins occupied Caryn gave them Cheerios. So far they don't know if Stanford's six fingers fully functioning or not. But they do know that hos toes are. Stanley is eating the cheerios. While Stanford is taking the scientific approach. He's been pushing cheerios off of his high chair. And watching to see what happens. While the cookies where baking Caryn. Didn't mind getting her broom and sweeping up the cheerios.

She gave the twins more cheerios. Then she cheeked on her cookies. After putting more cookies in the oven. She heard Stanford trying to get her attention. The woman closed the oven then turned. Around to see what Stanford wanted. She looked over at Stanford and he's reaching his. Arms towards her then using all 12 fingers. Like he wanted to grab a hold of her. Caryn can see Stanford moving all 12 of his fingers. Surprised at what she's seeing Caryn yelled "Filbrick!" At the base of the stairs in the pawn shop. Sherman heard his mother yelling for his father.

"Hey Pa, Ma is yelling for you." stated Sherman Filbrick left the register and ran upstairs. Sherman is right behind him. Both Filbrick and Sherman went into the kitchen.

"Caryn honey what wrong?" asked Filbrick

Caryn pointed at Stanford and replied "Stanford." Filbrick looked over at Stanford and saw. That he's moving all 12 of his fingers. Sherman saw Stanford moving his fingers also. He smiled and said "Look at you little dude. It looks like you can move all of your fingers and toes." Caryn recovered from her shock and patted Stanford on the head. Filbrick just shook his head and headed back down stairs.

They plan on taking the paper boats to the beach and putting them in the ocean. Soon the boats are ready. Sherman found Caryn and said "Ma Stanley, Stanford, and I are going to the beach."

"Ok sweety make sure you boys put on sunscreen." advised Caryn
