Reference to Kirin's Horn Heist

Chapter 6

"He~ a Big Jewel from an old temple was recently discovered." From how much the news has been covering this every day, Conan thought it might as well be an invitation for a certain sneak-thief.

Since it's also in the hands of Jirokichi Suzuki, Conan might get summoned for this heist. His mouth has been twitching all day at the thought of meeting the willful thief again. However, this was also the first time KID had sent an advance notice before the Senior Advisor could challenge him, so it depended on whether or not Jirokichi was willing to share the glory.

The press waiting to ambush him at school was certainly a surprise but it answered his question.

Conan didn't think he would be such a big deal just for chasing away KID. Honest! Who would have figured the mass media would get so hype from his match with the thief.

Even more surprising was that the entire Detective Boys were invited to duel with Kaitou KID.

From a press conference to boot.

'Jeez, what is that old geezer planning now?'

The children, as expected, were beside themselves from the unbelievable development. Not only for the acknowledgment from some big figure like the Senior Advisor Jirokichi Suzuki but to have their strength trusted and relied upon. And against the distinguished Phantom Thief.

Conan glanced at the kids, sounding excited at the chance to meet the famous phantom thief that the mini detective sweatdropped. 'Oi, oi, is this really okay? These guys are fans of KID.'

The kids are getting more excited at being noticed, and with Haibara getting agitated behind him, he needed to stop the press from extending their visits. So with his most innocent tone, Conan smiled brightly at the media group, "I'm sorry, but Kobayashi-sensei always tells us not to answer any question from the press without any adult supervision."

Both children and adults around him bemoaned at his point that Conan's smile stiffened from annoyance.

"If you have any further questions please contact our homeroom teacher, since she is our advisor, or Jirokichi-ojiisan for any exclusive interview with us. Outside of that, we're not allowed to say anything so we'll be going home now." Conan bowed quickly before holding Habara's hand and broke into a run like an excited little kid ready to go back home after a long day of school. Predictably, the others followed suit so he didn't have to worry about leaving anyone behind.

He stopped running once they were a considerable distance from the press before being scolded by the children for almost leaving them behind.

"Sorry, sorry," Conan apologized sheepishly, "The press has a way to hold you back with never-ending questions, so I thought it was quicker to just run."

Ayumi puffed her cheeks adorably, "And it was a rare chance for us to get an interview too."

Mitsuhiko nodded along, "Definitely. Remembering the last time we rejected an interview from Okino Yōko is enough to stab our hearts, it's the Detective Boys' most regretful decision that we do not want a repeat."

'Thank kami they rejected it. It'd be a pain to find reasons for Haibara not to be featured in a Golden Time show.'

"Well like my mom said, we can't cry over spilled milk," Genta spilled wise words, "More importantly, as the leader of the Detective Boys, I hereby put forth an emergency meeting!"

Ayumi and Mitsuhiko gasped as if their friend had just announced a grave announcement.

"Emergency…"

"...Meeting."

'Oi, oi, doesn't this mean–'

The Detective Boys were then seated at Café Poirot where they ordered their go-to snack and drinks from Azusa-san. They greeted her with cheerfulness before putting their game-face on that looked ridiculous with their childish faces.

"Alright, now that we've gathered, it's time we discuss our Anti-KID Strategy," Genta announced. The two grade-schoolers beside him nodded in all seriousness.

"You guys are really motivated." Conan supposedly thought it was good that they are eager to capture KID just as they are to meet him.

"Of course! Our opponent is the uncatchable crook, KID the Phantom Thief." Mitsuhiko emphasized the seriousness. "We cannot charge in blindly without a solid plan to go against him."

"That's surprising," Conan said between sips of his orange juice, "I thought you guys like KID?"

"That is that," Ayumi started. "And this is this," Genta finished.

"It's common sense to separate business from pleasure, shouldn't you know that Conan?" Mitsuhiko added.

"That's a bit difficult for Edogawa-kun, don't you think? Seeing as he finds pleasure in the mysteries he's working with," Haibara commented from the side with her usual sardonic smirk.

'Haha, sorry if I find pleasure in what I do.' thought Conan without sounding a bit apologetic.

"Moreover, if we get to catch KID, wouldn't that be a monumental achievement for the Detective Boys?!"

"We'll be revered as heroes and get an award!"

"People will admire and notice us!"

The kids went off giggling to their dreamland, and Conan almost slipped off his chair. "As I thought, it came to that in the end…"

Mitsuhiko pulled out his DB notebook and mechanical pencil, "Then let's begin by sorting out information about Kaitou KID!"

"But…" Ayumi frowned, "I heard that there's not much information about Kaitou KID. All they know is that he appeared 18 years ago in Paris, then disappeared 8 years ago, and then began actively appearing in Japan around this year."

The rest of the boys and Ai gaped at her, "Ayumi-chan… You're surprisingly knowledgeable."

The girl blushed and giggled self-consciously, "Hehe… actually... My mom is a KID fan."

"But he disappeared for a time, right?" Genta noted, "I wonder what happened to him?"

"Maybe he got tired of being a thief."

"Maybe he got sick or injured!"

"Or maybe we're dealing with the Second KID!"

Seeing the kids being excited among themselves, Conan struggled between wanting to laugh or cry. 'Oi, KID Task Force, is this okay? A bunch of grade-schoolers is getting closer to the thief's identity before you guys.'

"Wait, wait, we're getting side-tracked!" Mitsuhiko caught himself from being swept into conspiracy theory (even if it was fairly accurate). "Right now we're not trying to find out KID's identity, but how to protect the gem from him."

"Even if you say that, Mitsuhiko…" Genta grumbled in his usual fashion, "KID uses magic to steal his target. How are we going to defend against that?"

The polite young boy faltered, "I see your point and it's not like we have anyone who knows magic to give us tips to counter it."

'Why is this starting to sound like some battle manga?'

"Ne~ Ne~ Conan-kun," Ayumi piped up, "Can you tell us more about Kaitou KID?"

"Ha?"

"See, you're the only one who ever got close enough to talk with him. Don't you know anything more, like his weakness and stuff?"

"And he saved your life that one time too."

"Not to mention, both of you managed to get back into the airship so you must have been close enough to work together."

"Ne~ tell us, tell us, please~".

"Asking me is a bit... what I know of KID is–"

The trio children leaned expectantly, "Is?"

"–a pompous, smartass jerk who likes to prove he's better than everyone else and thinks he can get away with anything."

The rest of the Detective Boys' sweat dropped but were not shocked by the answer like they were hoping for a different response from their 'leader' but didn't get it.

Ayumi didn't give up and kept pushing for answers, "But that's not all there is to him, is it? If it's Conan-kun, then you definitely notice more than anyone."

"That's right, Conan!" Genta agreed loudly, "This time, the entire Detective Boys is up against KID. Keeping information to yourself is unfair, you know!"

"Indeed. We must all be on the same page if all of us want to get the drop on the phantom thief."

Haibara giggled as she watched the kids turn Kudō's skill against him to pry some answer. 'How will you respond, Kudō-kun?'

"Even if you say that, it's not like there's much to go on with KID. He's shrouded in mystery for a reason; he's meticulous in erasing any physical evidence pertaining to himself, would switch between a thief and a decent guy at the drop of a hat, can disguise as anybody at any time, and has a poker face that would pull out the hair of any profiler."

"In other words, not even our pride Heisei Holmes could solve the mystery of the adored Reiwa Lupin?" Haibara mocked.

"Well, sorry if I got nothing," he groused at the shrunken scientist. "It's not like I'm completely clueless to his identity… but all I have are mostly suppositions with no solid proof and not enough data, so I can't say for sure."

"Maa, maa," Mitsuhiko tried to placate, "This just means that the Moonlight Magician is beyond Conan's deduction skill."

Ayumi sighed loosely, "I'm a bit relieved that Conan-kun still has things he doesn't understand."

Genta nodded, "Good to know Conan is still normal."

'Oi... you guys… don't make me sound like an alien… And don't think I don't see you laughing, Haibara!' He narrowed his eyes at the shake of her shoulder and the constant twitch of her mouth.

"But Edogawa-kun, are you sure you're even trying to capture him?" Ai asked after calming herself, "I heard from Professor, that more often than not, you let him go."

"Moron, I said it before, didn't I? That I'll rip his mask off after figuring out his identity. While I fully intend to keep him from stealing any prized treasure, I plan to catch him after prying out every single secret of Kaitou KID until he can't even hide behind that damnable smirk of his. "

Shinichi's grin became even more feral that Ai had been used to it enough to hide her goosebumps, "Imagining the look on his face as I managed to grasp his identity before I pull his dumb monocle off, just the thought of it gets me excited!"

Hearing his reply, Ai had the sudden urge to facepalm for some reason. 'That's such a creepy hobby.' Even the children looked stupefied over their friend's highly unusual interest. Of course they understand his feelings, the Detective Boys felt the exact same way when it comes to making Conan admit defeat by one-upping him.

They simply hadn't expected their strange-adultish friend to feel the same way when it comes to Kaitou KID.

Genta's stomach abruptly grumbled in concern, "So other than Conan, is there really no way for us to win against KID?"

"That's not entirely true," Conan interrupted before they got swept into dejection. "While there's no telling how he'll steal the gem simply from the advance notice and what tricks he'll use this time, there are ways to find out his disguise and how to corner him."

And so Conan began a small lecture on how to spot a person wearing a disguise mask; like the lack of past reference that may be too personal for KID to know, the lack of sweats on his face if the temperature has gone too hot for too long, disproportionate body size in places that are rarely checked like ankles, neck, fingers or wrist, a habit that disappear or appear because it might leave evidence against him.

The Detective Boys took note with vigor as they committed Conan's teachings to heart.

"—KID often pretends to escape when he actually stays in disguise so don't be too hasty to chase after him until you confirm your surroundings. I've been had a few times even after knowing that. So the most effective way to corner him is to subdue KID with only a handful of trusted people and close off any escape route he has before outnumbering him through the police force… But that doesn't mean you should go off facing him on your own. If you guys notice anything suspicious, tell me immediately, understand?!"

"""HAI!"""

'How does Kobayashi-sensei do this five days a week?' Shinichi grew a deeper appreciation for the grade school teacher. But there's no denying the sense of pride and elation when the children look eager to learn and listen to your every word.

They noticed it was getting late and the group began to say their goodbyes before going home, excited to share their day and their upcoming activity as the Detective Boys. It left Conan and Ai on their own before the small detective narrowed his eyes at his friend.

"What?" He demanded.

"Why didn't you tell them?" Haibara smirked, "That you have a soft spot for the Magician under the Moonlight."

"Sof– I do not have a soft spot!" The boy cried indignantly.

"You do. Your face would light up like a kid under a Christmas Tree."

"You say that before, but do I really look that different?" Had there been a mirror, Conan would have liked to examine his face, "I'm pretty sure I get just as excited with any other mystery. But well… he's actually a decently brave guy when he wants to be… a reliably handy to have ally too... and he's pretty resilient and clever like there's nothing he can't handle… plus a harmless riddle from that cocky magician does make a good change of pace."

Haibara didn't hide a giggle this time, "See, was that so hard to admit?"

"Leave me be," Had Conan been a bit more childish, he would have stuck a tongue out at her at that moment.

"But for a mystery otaku like you and an adrenaline junkie like him, both of you can be said to be a match made in heaven." Haibara's smirk was one who tries to hide her amusement from an inside joke.

Conan's frown showed every bit of his distaste, "Do you really have to word it like that?"

"Just telling you as it is," she said before her tone turned serious, "but is this really okay?"

"Hmm?"

"I hope you haven't forgotten, Kudō-kun, but he is a thief and you are a detective. You two seemed to get along but both of you are fated to go against each other. I suggest you don't get too close unless you want to make it harder on yourselves." Ai looked away from her fellow shrunken-comrade, expressing her concern that the friendlier Kudō became with the thief, the more it would hurt the detective to try capturing him.

Conan blinked at the worried tone of her voice she rarely expressed before giving her the usual reassuring smile, "You worry too much, Haibara. It's true we don't have the typical relationship of a thief and a detective, but we're not so naive that we expect the other to let our emotions get the better of us."

"You talk as if you think KID wanted to be caught."

"I wouldn't say that, but he definitely wants to be chased. That guy doesn't like it when things go too easy for him. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to show off. And also…"

"Also?"

"...I have this disturbing feeling." Conan leaned back until he hit the soft backrest, his stretched-out arm blocking the lamplight from far above. He imagined the full moon before him and the sight of his glider heading toward a goal unseen by many. "If I left him off on his own, he might one day fly away with that white wing of his and disappear where I won't be able to reach him."

Haibara blinked, not expecting the solemn words coming from him, "Ara~ quite poetic of you. How can you say that for sure?"

"His eyes."

"Eh?"

"He has the same eyes. Eyes that reminded me of the times I looked into the mirror. Before Hattori, before you, before the FBI lent me their strength, I was so sure that I only had myself to rely on. He looked like someone desperately fighting a fight he picked up for being too smart for his own good."

Haibara blinked, and doubted that such an eye-catching figure of the night would have a problem comparable to them, "Are you sure you're not projecting?"

Conan's lips twitched with the same sardonic smile his skeptic friend often wears, "Maybe. It would be good if I am. I wouldn't wish a life like mine on anyone, certainly not him."

Ai watched the expression on 'Conan Edogawa' and had to hold back a tired sigh. 'There you go again with that pure, straightforward soul of yours. Being concerned for other people that you end up troubling yourself. Is that how you are or is it simply your nature as a detective, Kudō-kun?'

. . .

On the first day of the week Kirin's Horn was announced to the world, Kaito knew what Kaitou KID's next target would be for three reasons:

One, the amber that was possibly tens of thousands of years old would make it a possible Pandora candidate

Two, Kichiemon Samizu made the safe of its confinement and Kaito, true to his word as a member of the "Fuck Samizu Club", would steal it as a matter of principle.

Lastly, Jirokichi Suzuki announced his possession of the Big Jewel, which means most likely he would be there to get in Kaitou KID's way.

The thought of him was enough to cause him to grin, "It's been a while since I've seen how he's doing, I can't wait to meet him."

"Ano–" Jii deadpanned the young man, "Bocchama, I can understand getting excited for a heist, but why do you sound like you're meeting an old friend?"

Kaitou pouted petulantly, "Who would want to be friends with a violent, conniving jerk like him? I still have a grudge for that last stunt he pulled."

"Then shall this Jii begin casing our target?"

"No, we're also going against the work of the Karakuri Expert, Samizu Kichiemon. It's best that I'll case it first hand."

And so Kaito easily slipped himself among the Senior Advisor's security and a front seat of the rumored shrine that housed the great treasure, Kirin's Horn. After reading the code left by the Master of Traps and the faint characters of the pedestals from the four corners room, it was easy enough to connect the dots for the gem's aftercare.

The next question would be how KID will be stealing it using this method. Even with Jii's help, he would need two more hands. There's too little space for him to set a subtle enough contraption to move the four pedestals. Not to mention a plan to handle the little twerp that would most likely be here.

'Wait a minute… four… four… Now that I think about it, doesn't Tantei-kun have four people that are often following him around?'

"Advisor Suzuki!" His secretary called out before settling beside him, "The preparation is finally complete," he whispered, but it did not miss Kaito's keen ears.

The crazy rich old man nodded before addressing his people to test the latest security system. Already expecting a heist before either of them could send out a challenge notice. That's how Kaito learned about the electrified pedestals, but the phantom thief doubted that's all there is to his security. The old geezer likes to go all out with his money after all.

"PERFECT!" Old Man Jirokichi exclaimed, "With everything set, once the thief catches a whiff of the Big Jewel. No disguise will help get him out of this one. Whether it'd be a child, a rat, or a bug. This Suzuki Jirokichi will finally put an end to his moonlighting nights."

'Hmm… Child? Oh yeah, he does have them. Children that are like adorable chicks to his hen… should I invite them to play with me? It's also always good to prove the old geezer's wrong, kekeke...'

"Yosh, that's it for today. Cut off the electricity!"

High pitch noise reached his ear that made Kaito curious. "Neh, what's this noise from?"

"Hmm, noise?" One of the older security responded, he perked his ears for the source but then answered, "I don't hear anything though?"

'He doesn't hear it… then could this be… " the twitch of a mischievous grin was hard to hold back as Lady Luck had personally handed him all the pieces needed for his next magic trick.

'The problem is my personal heckler. Unfortunately, this trick will be too obvious with him around. What a shame, I might have to "silence" you this time, Meitantei.'

He sent a message to Jii of what his next advance notice would be and had him send it to the Senior Advisor's home. That's all done after he tweaked the security system so it would turn off the electrical defense in a certain order of the seasons.

Afterward, he went home and prepared all the necessary tools; the green DB parka, replacing young adults of the staff with older ones, but then Kaito paused on how to make sure the older member of the task force gets assigned inside. It doesn't always happen, but they do try to confirm the orders before acting on them.

"No choice, guess I'm gonna have to disguise myself as Nakamori-keibu." 'Forgive me for this Aoko, I'll grit my teeth and treat your family sushi in return,' his conscience promised her. 'But you know… Getting rid of Tantei-kun and Keibu, this heist might as well be as easy as taking candy from a baby~'

He didn't know it at that moment, but Kaito will take back his words on the night of his heist.

The detective's children are all an adorable bunch, and Kaito mentally nodded to himself at the choice of their wardrobe. Hopefully, they'll continue wearing them in the future.

But just like Tantei-kun, they are a bunch of good and just people that looked forward to being relied upon. Acting like a troubled inspector in order to foil a great thief like himself, the kids jumped at the chance of being helpful to the task force, moving them like they were in the palm of KID's hands.

It's also a plus that they seemed eager to show off to their most clever friend. Not that he couldn't understand their feelings. Tantei-kun being such a smartass most of the time, there's nothing more satisfying than having to rub on his face from getting the drop on him.

'Looks like I'll be stealing your underlings as my assistants for tonight's show, Meitantei.'

At the start, everything went well. The kids followed his instruction to the letter. He thanked Nakamori's loud personality that would prevent any questioning that would keep the mosquito noise and his other tricks from being noticed. Waited for the inevitable opening of the pillar before knocking out his smallest critic.

Everything went smoothly. Too smoothly actually, so of course that's when things went sideways.

Just as Kaito handled one demon brat, he had to face another one. Taking control of the situation with a sophisticated tone that intimidated the other adults in the room, a mind perceptive enough to almost rival Tantei-kun, and a heated gaze that was too mature, giving him shivers for a whole different reason. As if she's ready to vivisect the disguise being used among the people here.

'If that girl isn't a shrunken teen like Meitantei, I'll eat my tophat!'

But his most troublesome opponent this time turns out to be Advisor Suzuki who's hampering his escape. Kaito figured he had more other security defenses outside the obvious ones, but despite persistently insisting they chased after 'KID', what kept them inside was the Advisor's instinct.

'Guess his 50 years of experience traveling around the world aren't just for show. I misjudged you, Senior Advisor.'

But this is the worst timing for the Advisor to be frustratingly competent. All Kaito needed was one. Just one last step. One last step before KID can get away scot-free if he just… Open. The. Damn. Door! It became easier over time to channel Inspector Nakamori's impatience because that's exactly how Kaito was feeling.

'This is bad. At this rate, Nakamori-keibu and Meitantei will wake up before I can escape.'

While hiding his nervousness, Kaito glanced at the fallen detective that was being surrounded by his worried kids and sighed a bit of relief. If Tantei-kun wakes up, he would instantly figure out who Kaitou KID is among the people here after all.

Unfortunately for our favorite phantom thief, Conan had long woken up and was pissed beyond belief of being hit by a stun gun. It took being surrounded by his friends and safely waking up without being noticed did the puzzle piece finally come together.

'That punk… to think he would knock me out just to turn me into a jewel carrier.' Conan didn't know whether to be mad or laugh at the audacity of the kaitou. 'His plan must have included stealing me away before returning the both of us to the police… he's lucky Ran isn't here to test his luck.'

But too bad for Kaitou KID, his escape hasn't gone as planned, being trapped within the room and breaking in cold sweats to his inevitable unveiling.

"Then Conan-kun, what should we do next?" Ayumi whispered her question.

"If you know who KID is already, shouldn't you start pointing him out already?" Genta demanded.

"And also how he managed to steal Kirin's Horn?" Mitsuhiko was mostly curious about the trick that was used.

"Maa, don't be impatient. Even without me, the truth will come to light as it is. And also… I'll start explaining the trick Samizu Kichiemon made in this shrine, so why don't you guys point him out in my stead?"

"""Eh?!"""

"You guys wanted to duel with KID, right?" Conan hadn't forgotten how excited they were to be able to face the famous magician thief. Even with being a fan, their spirit of being detectives wouldn't lose in the face of a challenge and Conan was proud of that. "The Moonlight Magician went out of his way to invite us for his tricks. So why don't we teach him a lesson: Don't underestimate us, Detective Boys. "

The children's eyes were sparkling in excitement at going against the famous thief, but most of all the group had matching grins as they were all determined to make KID suffer after being used by him.

Conan then lay in wait with a smile, glancing at the disguised thief as he started to get cornered by a bunch of children and Haibara, who saw through every one of his tricks.

Well, almost every one of them. He kind of forgot to mention the mosquito noise.

When the children had proclaimed they saw through how and who Kaitou KID among them was, Kaito didn't doubt their words even if Nakamori's skeptical words smoothly flowed out. The four stood before the group of adults with eyes reminiscent of Meitantei's own pair at the end of his heist.

Eyes that will not be fooled by the tricks in front of them. Kaito swore he felt like being faced with the great detective himself, as he felt that same adrenaline rush. As if he's there marionetting the children into conveying his deductions. Meitantei certainly taught his minions well.

Of course, he should have expected the brat had woken up. It shouldn't have been a shock, but it was. Then Inspector Nakamori came along with his newest disguise-proof plan and Kaito had to exhaust his final backup plan before disguising the 'impossible'.

As everyone went out, waiting for the elusive thief to slip out from below. Kaito could have done a number of things to slip away from the others' watchful eyes. Escaping before Tantei-kun knew he was gone... without a word of goodbye.

But he didn't.

KID looked through the ambiance of the amber beneath the moonlight, confirming no sign of Pandora in sight before he found himself turning away from the exit, with his back on the wall.

"He did see through my disguise, a short farewell is in order I suppose." 'I wouldn't be able to see him for a while after this.' Kaito wondered if he may be the only thief in the world crazy enough to want a meeting with his enemy.

But he was never simply an enemy, wasn't he?

Meitantei practically sprinted back into the shrine. His footsteps creaked the floorboards that could disturb the well-slept child beneath the shrine, so Kaito had to shush him from the shadows. Poker face up and at the ready.

The detective's shocked look at his presence is worth more than any gem in Kaito's opinion. Meitantei's face practically screamed all his unasked questions, 'Why are you here? Why aren't you running? Why did you stay?'

'Silly, Detective. Of course I stayed.' Running was such an obvious answer, but when faced against the Great Detective, against his fated rival, he didn't want to take the easy way out.

He crouched down, giving back the gem he'd stolen from Meitantei's hood during the second blackout, and switched it with a fake. "I'll return this to you since it's not the jewel I'm aiming for anyway."

"Gen… Where's Genta?" He asked in a worried voice, finding out his friend was safe and sound being his priority that Conan had tunnel vision.

"Hmm? Oh, he's sleeping soundly like a baby beneath the hole," KID confirmed his safety.

Conan watched agape at the unguarded and blásed way he showed himself. The detective was already working his mind around for any traps or further tricks for his escape, but the thief simply chatted his way out while preparing his disguise shamelessly and boldly in front of the detective. As if Conan was just going to stand there and let him get away– 'Geh, I'm doing exactly that!'

"I see…" Conan finally shook off his shock and pulled down his DB parka, "You wanted to prove that you can even disguise as a child." He glared at the thief, 'As usual, this guy just loves to mess people around.'

"Ping~ Pong~ After all for Kaitou KID... nothing is impossible." The magician grandly proclaimed as he got ready to mix himself among the task force. "See ya later," KID gave an amiable smile and casual wave goodbye like he would to any friend... as if he hadn't just knocked Conan unconscious with a stun gun.

It's with a vindictive smile that Shinichi kicked his soccer ball with full force on the damn thief's back. The guy wore a bulletproof vest, so KID would have an easier time brushing off the pain anyway.

Brushing off that over-prepared notice from KID's back would take some time though.

Conan watched his form disappear into the dark forest with a smirk, "I'll see you later, KID." 'In the meantime, have fun playing hide and seek, idiot~'

Me, writing a chapter: Now how to focus this between KID and Conan?

Also me, writing the Shounen Tantei-dan: OoOpS, mY hAnD sLiPpEd...

Can I just take a moment to say that this is the first chapter for KID to purposely stay after almost getting caught just to return the gem to Conan? Like it's his version of saying goodbye? And Conan mostly stood there while KID was disguising in front of him when he could have called out the task force at any moment before KID managed to mix with the police.

It took writing in Conan's pov did I realize that Conan was so shocked seeing KID so layback that he might have overthink his tricks at first sight and I find that HILLARIOUS!

Also, it was funny writing Kaitou's pov during the heist. He was only one step away from escaping but Jirkoichi just wouldn't open the door for him and get stuck with a creepy child beside him. Like... his exit scene was cool and everything, but anyone who knows Kaito from MK would know he was panicking the whole time he wasn't allowed to get out.
