Story: A lesson learned is a lesson to be shared

05th July 2019

Emily and Hotch both took the day of. Jack was at school and their plan was with starting the adoption process.

With the help of Mr. Google, they knew what to do. As they already started with some research a couple of months ago, they knew which Agency they would choose.

They had a meeting with their possible caseworker at CFSA to discuss the further steps. (The District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency)

As for their fanfiction night, it was Garcia's part.

She sat in her office on lunch break, browsing the website as her phone rang.

"Technical Analyst Penelope Garcia, how may I help you?" she totally didn't sound like Penelope Garcia at all but after the incident with Chief Strauss, she answered the phone like this except when she knew it was one of her fine furry friends calling.

"Penelope, it's me, Eric. How are you doing?" he asked.

It was her friend from L.A. working for the NCIS team there.

"I'm good and you?" she replied.

"Great, I just have a question…" he asked and she listened.

He had the same job and was very good at it, but she had a slight advancement in knowledge. Eric's co-worker Nell was out with the Team, so he didn't know anyone else to ask.

"Sure, go over the proxy…" she answered and talked him through the steps.

After he got the information, he needed they did some small talk both hang up, but eventually both needed to get back to work.

Eric Beale with a solution to his problem and Penelope with an idea for the fanfiction. Hopefully, there were fanfictions like that.

Looking through the crossover section she found what she searched. Criminal Minds & NCIS L.A.

She read the summaries and saw one she liked. Opening the story she started to read the first paragraph.

She walks into the room with confident steps, but then she always walks with confident steps where ever she goes. Henrietta Lange a powerful woman in a tiny package. A woman that should never be underestimated doing so will leave you wondering how she manages to always have the ability to guide you in the right direction, either by gentle nudge or a glaring shove. It has been said that Hetty can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Most people found it advantages to keep her on her good side.

This had to be true. You never want to be on Hetty's bad side, she had seen what would happen if you got on her bad side and Penelope cherished her life.

The next paragraphs promised a good story.

The open air Café was the best place to capture their target. Cars parked on the street for a easy get a way. They only thing that they might have trouble with are the muscle bound men that their target hired as bodyguards.

Their target was from the old school the bodyguards were not welcome to sit at the same table for a meal, always a few tables away or the other side of the room was even better and in this case they were sitting just inside the restaurant by the large window panes.

What was happening? Garcia had a flashback as a few years back they were in LA trying to catch a killer. She once sat in this Café after they solved the case and had a little bit time left before boarding.

A blonde woman sitting by herself with a half eaten salad pushed off to the side on the table. Smiles as the wait person place a plate of lasagna in front of her, she gives her thanks to the server before she picks up her fork to take her first bite.

Hetty says nothing not even a smile comes to her face as she sees the blonde woman look around the Café and the scenery. She says nothing when she sees the blonde woman look at a the special op team with as much interest as she looks at the flowers on the next table.

Kensi walks close to the man when she see their target put his wallet back in his suit's inner pocket. She get as close as she can placing her arm in the crook of his as she jabbed a weapon into his side. "Smile, nicely you're on a few cameras." She whispers to him as he starts to leave the Café.

It must be JJ for sure, being the blonde woman. Garcia knew the blonde woman had a part in it, but what was her part in the story?

Noticing the time she realized she only had another five minutes of lunch.

What they didn't count on was one innocent looking blonde woman eating all by herself.

Just a few seconds before they get to her table she stands and starts holding her throat with one hand and waving in front of her face wildly with the other. Completely blocking the aisle as she moved back and forth gesturing the whole time. The two body guards take action they grab her and push her into a waiter carrying a round silver tray full of hot food.

"Oh Hetty. That poor woman." Eric said as the woman and the waiter landed on the ground with most of the hot food and broken crockery covering the woman.

Keeping her face schooled is easy for Hetty years of experience helped her remain cool and collected in even stressful times.

At this part, Garcia had to laugh. The woman had to be a good actor. But this mysterious woman wasn't on the team. She was an outsider having exercise in law enforcement.

"Sorry about the mess, I wasn't expecting to be shoved into a waiter carrying a full tray of hot food and plates."

"Who are you?" Deeks asks as he watches Penelope continue.

"Deeks I'd like you to meet Penelope Garcia a friend and confidant of ours. Right Sam?" Callen says in way of introduction.

"Damn girl." Sam said softly as they watched her continue to tend to her wounds.

That's me? Interesting turn of events, Penelope would have bet that this blonde woman was JJ. She had a few spare minutes left, so she quickly scanned the rest of the story.

The rest of the workday was spent cleaning her office and assisting JJ with some research on a possible case.

Leaving at five she walked down, her high heels being heard through the floor. All together minus Hotch and Emily, they left the BAU floor and the FBI building.

Derek and she weren't on the way home like the others, they first had to do some shopping.

Walking into the grocery shop Garcia already made a list of what to buy. Some vegetables and fish. In the end, the cart was full. They bought salmon, tomatoes, aubergines, carrots, potatoes, and some fruit

Planning on boiling the vegetables first and then adding the salmon for the last fifteen minutes on top. It was one of her favorite dishes.

The team members enjoyed the night and were talking. Reid slipped up with mentioning his new girlfriend and now he was the center of attention.

"Okay, okay. Enough questions! I'll ask her if she wants to join me next time for our dinner." He said and almost regretted it right away.

He didn't want to introduce her to them. Not because he didn't trust them. He did trust them with his life, but he feared that once he introduced her to them, she would be in danger and end up as Maeve did.

"Okay, that's alright!" Garcia said.

"Let's just do my fanfiction. Alright?" she asked and was met with acceptance.

"After a phone call with my friend from Los Angeles today I had the idea for another crossover and Criminal Minds," Garcia said, continuing with explaining the context.

"The background is, that they wanted to take a person of interest with them, but they didn't know that this person would have bodyguards. I was there stopping them whilst doing like chocking on my bite of food. After a while the team found me and we were in the hotel room as Hotch called having a case. I was the unsubs type and had to stay under 'observation'"

"So tell me Detective Deeks how long have you been in love with Kensi?"

"Is it that obvious?"

"You hide it well but the way you hand her, her cup of coffee your hand lingers just a second or twp longer than needed. You tilt your head a fraction of an inch when you hear her walking. And your smile is different when she is near you. Small and subtle things."

"Busted."

"Marty she has been hurt before. Don't hurt her again please that kind of pain is long lasting. Sometimes it never ends."

"I promise I won't hurt her."

"Will you be able to give me a ride to the airport to meet my team I would like to be there around seven."

"Not a problem. I can take you."

"I think this was a great paragraph. Showing my skills to see the love. Anyways let's roll with this."

Sitting at her desk Hetty tells him the story of how Penelope applied to the BAU. Her resume on home made pink paper.

"What did you two talk about last night?"

"Work and she called me out about being in love with Kensi. She told me in a better choice of words to man up or shut up and move on. She also told me not to hurt her that she had been hurt before and that kind of pain is long lasting. Sometimes it never ends."

"She is right and she knows the repercussions of hiding your feeling all to well."

What happened to the person that shot her?"

"Agent Jareau put a bullet in his head."

"Maybe I should leave well enough alone."

"That is an excellent idea."

"They'll never get together will they?"

"I don't think they ever will Mr. Deeks. They will love one another and always be there to help and stand by, but nothing more. In the end they both lose for she will always be his Juliet and he will always be her Romeo. A love that was never meant to be except in the stars and in their hearts. Don't be so surprised Mr. Deeks I was young and in love too once upon a time."

"These two paragraphs were interesting and quite funny. It's true. Never try to be on our bad side, right? Now there's the last part."

"Penelope what did you find for me?" Hetty whispers into the room. Opening the envelope she takes out a single leaf of pink paper with a date and a man's name, written in purple ink. "Well done child, and when the time is right I will give it to him." She thinks as she locks the envelope in the desk drawer.

The story was great but I didn't get the last part. I know Callen's last name is G. But I am not able to get his real first name." Garcia said and ended her free presentation.

They began to talk about it. Remembering back to the case they had together and to this day they didn't know Callen's first name.
