Disclaimer: Of course they aren't mine, let's just start. But, standard shotgun rules, Kiba's mine!
Hinata stared to the once lively teammate of hers lying next to her, sprawled across the grass. She was not sure in which way he was lying, or determine what exactly he was doing as he was to nervous. One minute he would lie on his back and then he would turn himself around again to his stomach, his chin resting against the grass, and as he sighed heavily, his hand grabbed a handful of grass and he threw it over his head and it landed on his back. He knew something was missing, and Hinata realized it too, even Shino who was sitting across them both with an ant on the tip of his finger turned his attention to an anxious Kiba.
"Kiba-kun…" Hinata softly murmured, hoping to calm down the jittery Inuzuka brunette.
"…" Shino observed each part of Kiba's reaction following to Akamaru's death just two days ago. For the first time, Shino actually felt sorry for him, he knew Akamaru did well, and didn't deserve to die. Shino had a soft heart for animals, and he is fond of Akamaru, he just didn't show it well. Another minute passed, and once again Kiba turned to his back, his elbows supporting his head.
"Hinata-chan" Kiba mumbled without looking at Hinata, "…does everything die?" He suppressed the question until it suffocated Hinata in her heart, it was too hard to answer, but easy enough to ignore.
Hinata gathered her conscience and tried to think of a good answer, she eyed Shino in a desperate way, but Shino remain silent, giving an ever so slight shrug. Without any reference or knowledge, much less courage, Hinata decided to answer it with all she's got.
"I heard…all dogs go to heaven, Kiba-kun…" Hinata neared her face to the part where Kiba could feel her warm breath against his face, and smiled. Kiba stared at Hinata's face and felt a slight relieve after what she just said, his eyes lightened up and his face reddened a little, and so he turned his face to the other side to distract himself.
"It's true" Shino responded faintly, and Kiba lifted himself up to see if Shino was alright, since he wasn't much of a speaker, and it was a surprise for both Kiba and Hinata that their silent and sensitive teammate just spoke for no reason.
"Do you think he likes it up there, Hinata-chan?" Kiba leaned himself against air, looking up to the sky, eyes glowing and reflecting the sun.
"I'm sure of it" Hinata joined Kiba in observing the skies, and gave a reassuring grin to Kiba to make him encouraged.
Silence filled up between the three of them, and all they did was to listen to the nature calling, the birds whispering chants in their ears, and the petals of the just-bloomed spring flowers flew by with a personal message for each one of them.
"I liked Akamaru, Kiba-kun, but there's one puppy that I think is so much cuter" Hinata blushed in her own sentence, and couldn't believe her own ears as she heard this coming out of her lips.
"Huh? Who?" Kiba turned his attention to Hinata and gave a confused and susceptible look.
Hinata laughed faintly, and observed the skies once more time, she lifted herself up to her knees and neared herself to Kiba's ear and whispered, "You" and gave a slight peck on his cheek. Kiba was at the same time surprised, embarrassed and eased. He was about to say something but Hinata stood up and walked away, and he could only smile to himself.
"All dogs go to heaven indeed…" Kiba leaned himself back to the grass and realized that today was a good day.
