Chapter 22
The cafe was full, the Miao and Huang Families were there, drinking, celebrating, and having the kind of time that could only be had with a bunch of criminals. They laughed and sang as the night carried on. Revy joked and laughed as they ate their food. For her, it was exactly what she'd asked for, kind of. It was actually an egg roll, extra spicy, with pork, but they gave her a bottle of ghost pepper sauce, and that made the difference.
Rock was having a bowl of Ramen, and he was offering a bite. She sniffed it, took a bite of the oddly cut piece of pork. The pork in the Ramen was different from her egg roll. It was salty, but there was a wonderful flavor, a sort of hint, a slight taste of fat and a little whiskey. She chewed, and then smiled at him. Moving closer, she picked up a pair of chopsticks, looked at the Ramen and picked out another piece of pork.
He didn't stop her, or go after her food, and in less than a minute she had found every piece of pork in that Ramen. She grinned and took the moment to lean against him. He put an arm around her, and she almost hated that she'd decided to wear shoulder holsters. Sure, the cutlasses weren't that good against monsters, but then she hoped that they were at least on announcement basis when it came to attacks.
There was some commotion from outside, and she looked to see where it was coming from. A moment later, a guy busted in. He was holding a pistol, his eyes glaring, and behind him were about four other guys. She knew these men, she'd seen some of them before. They weren't the same ones that had been under the Princess, but they were other members of the Yakuza.
"Fuckin' triads!" one yelled, "We heard you were here, Chinese bastards! This is Yakuza territory!"
Up until this point things had more or less been perfect. Rock had shown her that she deserved to be loved, and he did make love to her, softly, tenderly, and slowly, the first two times, the third was her giving the okay to speed up, and he'd moved to a beat that got her off again and again. She had ridden a flood of endorphins that was high, and she loved it. They had walked out of the room, and joined the party that was happening with the groups that had ended up traveling with her were here as well.
Ling Ling, or that undead bitch, sat not too far away, and the fact that so many members of the criminal underworld in one place should have been enough to put up all of the red flags. She'd lived her life knowing that life tended to be a shit show with only minor commercial breaks of happiness. This had ended up being the mother of commercial breaks, and now it was time to return to the regularly scheduled shit show. Hell, she should have seen it coming. After all, monsters weren't the only monsters there were. There were humans, and at times they were far worse than the actual monsters. She was sure the shot was meant for Ling Ling's brother Fang. She figured that it was supposed to be him. If these Yakuza had half a brain between them they would have figured out who the two heads of the families were.
The moment those dumb bastards rushed in she got up, ready to deal with it, and when fired their way she was sure it was toward the leader of the Huang family. It went wide, and she was ready to accept it. Her bullet had finally found her. Instead he moved, and she watched as he crumpled to the ground.
"Rock?" she asked as she touched him, "No, Rocky-Baby, come on, we gotta go home, come on, we gotta go."
He laid there, her eyes widened, and then a feral scream escaped her lungs. She stood, both pistols drawn, and she didn't give them warning.
"Don't worry baby," she whispered, "I'm going to get them all, and then I'll be right there, just wait on me."
She was fast, Fang Fang noticed that she moved faster than a human had the right to, and he went to check on her friend, no, he knew it was her lover.
He was alive, barely, but she didn't know. He called his sister, and she came over.
"Ah, Well, I can slow it, but I can't stop it. I can resurrect, but not stop."
He looked at her, "Tsukune, as a member of the family, we could ask for him to give him some of his blood."
She looked at him, "Well, either he will be healed, die instantly, or become either a vampire or ghoul. Still, it's a better chance than a mortal hospital at this point. It might be enough for him to make it to one."
Fang Fang nodded, "Help his lover," he said, "I'll get him to Tsukune."
She looked at him, "Perhaps, and I suggest it hesitantly, but we could ask Lady Dimitrescu," she said, "Her blood has restorative powers, and I know she showed interest in him."
Fang Fang looked at him and then her, "Who is closer?"
She gave a small smile, Tsukune, but brother, if you make the choice to go to him, you must make him see reason. She smiled, "My Tsukune will listen, but he will not give his blood so readily, so willingly. Make him understand the need for it. Otherwise, take him to Lady Dimitrescu."
Fang Fang nodded, and rushed off. Ling Ling looked at those that chose to attack, who hurt new allies of the Huang Family, and pulled her twin automatic pistols. She hopped toward them, firing, scoring fatal shots, joining the young man's lover in the battle. And she watched as they tried to pull back.
"Oh dear me, I am afraid not," she said with a laugh, "You harmed a most trusted friend of our family, and I am afraid the only suitable punishment is death, but trust me, dying isn't so bad."
Hours passed, and Revy found herself in a hospital room with Rock. The room itself was something used by the criminal element in the city, and apparently their new friends had ensured that Rock would be taken the absolute best care of there. So, she stood there, watching the man she loved more than her own life hooked up to various machines. She looked toward the ceiling of the room.
"Okay, Is this you wanting me to talk to you, right?" she asked, her hands balled into fists, "I'm here. I'm asking, no, I'm telling you to not take him!"
She looked into the air, not noticing, or at least not caring that she was being watched, "The sisters said you're our father, well dad you owe me! You let me get beaten, raped, and passed around like a whore!"
She sniffed, "And then you sent him into my life, and for what?" she asked angrily, "Just to fuck with me again? You can't! I swear to you if you take him I'll hunt down every son of a bitch that preaches your name. I'll make it my life's mission to erase your name from the Earth..."
She fell to her knees, "Please, please don't take him from me. He's the only good thing in my life, don't take that, please."
A few moments later a young woman walked into the room. Revy looked at her, and the woman neared him, "Well, the transfusion seemed to work wonderfully," she said, "Interesting how curative vampire's blood is."
Revy studied her, touching her pistols, "Please," the woman said softly, "In my true form those peashooters would just piss me off, but I'm glad to see that you are so protective over him."
She looked at Revy, "So, here's the deal. He's going to live."
Revy felt a thrill of joy shooting through her, "He's going to make it?"
She nodded, "He should be coming out of it soon enough. The blood seems to have restored him. It may do more, but we won't know until later."
She touched her shoulder, "If he's turned, know that he will likely have an immortal life."
She looked at him, immortal, that was fine. That meant that no one would be able to harm him. She looked at the girl, "I was told that if he was changed, you are to meet the one who gave him the blood. They will make a proposition with you. I believe it will be one that you will want to take them up on."
