Bull's eye, bull's eye, bull's eye. It's always the same. He's always the same. When my partner is working he loses to no one, but good luck getting him to remember there's a world outside work. Luckily, I've been with him long enough to know exactly what to do when I want his attention.

"Hey, partner!"

He'd kill me if I laughed at him jumping in shock and missing the target, but I can't help but smile at him. I don't think he's as in a good mood as I am though, because he spins around and screams, "Don't call me that, idiot! And even you should have enough sense not to startle someone with a loaded weapon!"

"But I'm lonely, partner." I lean against him as a talk, and to my surprise he doesn't try to push me away. "Sen-chan's napping and Jasmine and Umeko are off who know where. I don't have anyone to talk to."

"I have work to do," he says as if that'll shut me up. He turns back to practice.

"You had work to do. Now you're just exhausting yourself." I grab him by the shoulders, but he doesn't fight back. "I'm worried about you!"

He raises an eyebrow. "You are?"

"Enough to ask Swan-san to make some coffee to bribe you into taking the rest of the afternoon off."

That's what does it. "All right, I'll give it a try," he says as he puts away his rifle. "But no promises."
