Author's note: well we're back and this is going to show you a different side of the war, just an idea I thought of hope it shows you all something good and you like it. Got the idea from a book I read so figured I'd try it out so enjoy!

"Alright Sasuke that's enough for today. You need to take time to relax, that's just as important as training. Anyways we have a mission tomorrow, so you'll need your energy that's why we went light today." Kakashi walked over to the tree to grab his water and drink from it. Sasuke had been fast progressing under his and Gai's tutelage, but he had a long way to go.

The boy didn't say anything, usually he would retort because he wants to train harder, but if he was doing a mission than that would make up for it. "What's the mission?" Sasuke was curious he hadn't been out on a mission since before the exams so he was eager to test out his newfound skills.

"Nothing to extreme, some bandits have been attacking a farming village nearby, you and me are gonna go and take them out, just a standard C rank" Kakashi said as if it were no big whoop.

Sasuke smirked, it wasn't anything major but this would be able to help, let him try out some of the new jutsu's he was taught, and let him get better at fighting multiple opponents with his sharingan. Sasuke frowned though, "What about Sakura? Now that I think of it, I haven't seen her around nearly as much except for when I get hurt, hell I didn't know she was even good at iryo-ninjutsu. Also what time do we head out sensei?" Sasuke was quick and to the point, no reason to waste time. But he also asked a good question, Kakashi was surprised he took so long to ask.

"She's been training on her own. I informed her that until Naruto got back the team was disbanded, but if she needed help finding someone to train her I would help. So far she's mainly been with Kurenai learning genjutsu, and has recently been at the hospital learning medical ninjutsu." Sasuke nodded at this information, Kakashi continued, "Meet me at the south gate by 0800, no later. We shouldn't be gone more than a week so pack lightly." Kakashi was more calm around Sasuke ever since they've been training together more the boy has let up some, become more open. Not much but even he could see the boy was slowly dropping his guard around him, and Sakura has come around almost daily to help patch up and injuries. He can tell that the boy is starting to have a fondness for the girl even if he doesn't see it or will admit it. It's starting to show, he's not as harsh with her and has even talked with her more. Though he was surprised he hadn't just asked the girl himself yet.

"Good evening Kakashi-Sensei, Sasuke-kun" Sakura came walking in through the clearing, but was surprised to see Sasuke untouched. "Is there anything I can help you two with?" Sakura said, though she would rather be alone with Sasuke, Kakashi being here was a good excuse for her to come.

"No we didn't train hard today because we're leaving for a mission tomorrow, just the two of us" Sasuke said bluntly, before realizing he hurt Sakura's feelings. "But Kakashi was mentioning buying dinner, how about you come along? It should be peaceful since the dobe isn't here" Sasuke said getting a snicker out of the girl. Sasuke didn't smile but his body showed he was more relaxed now.

"Oh I'm buying dinner now huh? When did this happen I remember saying nothing of the sort. I mean if you want to take the girl on a date than just do so Sasuke" Both of the kids faces went red when he said this.

"S-shut up! It's not a date I just figured most of the team is here we might as well enjoy quality time together, and you being the Sensei you should pay" Sasuke said trying to cover his ass. "You're always spotting off stuff about how we need to be closer as a team so we might as well go out together once in a while."

Kakashi sighed, his logic there was sound, but there was one thing he forgot, "That may be true but I meant you, Sakura, and Naruto, I don't need to be there, plus I have plans anyways so-" Kakashi was cut off by the entire ground shaking. He initially thought there was an earthquake, but then felt the surge of chakra. He looked up and saw snakes everywhere before he could think of a plan of action there was another larger surge of chakra, and what came out truly terrified him. He doesn't know the last time he had felt such fear encompass his being. He saw Sasuke and Sakura losing it as well, whatever this feeling was they didn't like it. It was on pair with the feeling he got during the Kyuubi attack years ago if not worse.

"S-sensei what is that" Sakura barley muttered out as her and Sasuke did nothing but stare wide eyed at the monster.

Kakashi quickly let the fear go and let his senses return to him. He didn't even respond to the girl, instead he made a few hand signs and bite his thumb, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu" He summoned his entire pack. The dogs started whimpering once they saw the beast.

"Kakashi why did you summon us, why is he here?" Pakkun. The leader of his pack was terrified. This didn't help put Kakashi at ease, he's seen this dog face down bijuu and not be scared. The dog continued though, "Everyone thought he and his kind were dead" Pakkun said

"Who is he."

"Kira…" Pakkun said still in disbelief at what he said, "He's the leader of the hellhound summons. No one has seen or heard of a hellhound in so long everyone thought they were dead, just my luck they're still around and the biggest baddest one is here. Kira is the only known summon to take on the Kyuubi and live. And that was almost a millennia ago." that explained the scars on the beast's body.

Kakashi cursed under his breath, "Ok I need you to go around the village knocking sense into every ninja you can, all of you, and help the civilians get to safety, now go" the dogs quickly dispersed doing as they were told. "Sasuke, Sakura that goes for you as well, do not engage in any enemy unless I or someone of my rank tells you to and that's an order. For now protect civilians and academy students and get them to safety. Sasuke I'm being serious this is not a joke this is war, now hurry" the two nodded and took off. Kakashi rand his hands through his hair trying to calm down, "FUCK" he screamed out the single word full of anger and hate. Just once he wish things would go right.

Kakashi looked over and saw Gai was still there. The man nodded and he left to go help out and give orders as well. Kakashi followed in suit and quickly took off trying to find the front lines where he belonged, he put up his headband also to let out his sharingan. It was obvious Orochimaru was here, so he couldn't afford to hold back.

Once in the village Kakashi couldn't help but be scared at how much destruction was going on. By the time he found a clear spot the hokage had already relayed a message to the masses. Kakashi turned down an alley and barely had time to dodge as a sound ninja was thrown his way, "Kakashi-Sensei? Oh thank god what should we do? Choji and I were heading home and then this happened. We just got the message from Hokage-sama via Inochi-sama, what should we do Sensei?" Shikamaru was never one to be scared but right now he was terrified, and was trying to do his best to stay calm.

"Find any gennin you can, stay in groups of 2-4 and help any and all civilians you can. Now hurry, don't engage unless you have to" Kakashi said before he took off leaving the two to go help. Kakashi took to the roofs, it was faster than running along the alleys, he couldn't waste time he needed to find the Hokage. As he ran along he quickly and efficiently took out any sound ninja he ran across the years as an Anbu captain hasn't done him wrong yet, he was still maintaining about 90% of his chakra and has taken out at least a dozen enemies.

"Kakashi over here" A voice yelled out, said jounins eyes raised as he quickly ran off to his kage. "Thank kami I finally found you, I need you to link up with Gai, and Asuma and with you in control of the trio. You are to assume command for the time being. The real me is off fighting Orochimaru and the beast. Besides Shikaku, you are easily the best choice to lead and I would rather you because of the way you work is better. I don't think I'll survive this battle so if I don't and Tsunade doesn't take over than just know you are the next Hokage" Kakashi's eyes raised, he didn't think he was ready for such a position.

"Don't speak like that Hokage-sama, you won't lose"

"You don't understand the situation, Root with Danzo is helping in this battle" that's when reality hit Kakashi on how serious this situation was. Danzo didn't even help when the Kyuubi attacked. This is more serious than he initially thought. "I've thought this over and you are the perfect replacement, it's in my will that you take over if Tsunade cannot be persuaded." Hiruzen said his bit and was done.

"Hai hokage-sama, so what do I do now?" Kakashi asked, wanting to know where he is needed.

"Find Gai and Asuma, and crush the enemy" Kakashi nodded and with that the clone left off to fight more battles. Kakashi calmed down and with his sharingan he looked around for the two ninja, he found Gai easily, but Asuma was nowhere to be found. He quickly made his way to his friend, trying to take down as many enemies as he could while moving quickly.

"Kakashi, you found me, have you talked with Hokage-sama yet?" the man asked as he parried an attack before counterattacking and knocking the enemy unconscious and then crushing said enemies neck.

"Yes I did" Kakashi quickly used a kunai to slit the throat of a sound ninja who jumped out at him.

"Ok then, what's the plan then Hokage-sama" Kakashi stumbled when he heard that, than he figured no one knows about Tsunade, so they must have been told he was the successor in case Hiruzen didn't survive.

"We find Asuma, rally our forces and destroy the enemy." Gai nodded, it was simple, hopefully they could be efficient too. "And don't hold back, take your weights off this is war" Kakashi said, Gai smirked and took off his weights throwing them at an enemy that was hiding, if it didn't kill the guy the injuries would. The chest was crushed, he easily would get flail chest, if not a pneumothorax or even a hemothorax. The enemy was done for, the two took to the rooftops and went to find Asuma fighting off any enemy they came across.

It didn't take long to find the man, he was with Zabuza and Haku. Zabuza seemed to be having a field day swinging around his sword killing sound nin left and right. Haku was covering up his loose end with her ice release. Asuma was covering the other side of the battlefield, he seemed half bored but nonetheless was making short work of the enemy. Kakshi only knew that because the man was smoking a cigarette still. He and Gai quickly jumped in and helped the group finish off the enemy.

"Hokage-san" Asuma said as he saw Kakashi. Zabuza heard the man and only raised an eyebrow.

"That's right Zabuza as of right now I'm the acting kage, the only person you should listen to is myself, Asuma or gai. Besides that no one else except lord third himself. For now just do what you can to help out, and keep Haku close. Orochimaru's men won't hesitate to take her once they realize she has the Hoyton release. Asuma you're with me and Gai. We have some shit to do" Kakashi said as the man nodded and followed his new kage.

Elsewhere

"Chidori!" Sasuke rammed his fist through a sound Ninja that was about to kill Sakura. The girl looked at Sasuke wide eyed, he had just killed someone and it didn't even phase him. "Common lets go, there's more people to help" Sasuke pulled the girl to her feet. That was a technique she had never even heard of, or seen be used before. She figured that Sasuke either copied it from someone or Kakashi taught it to the boy, all she knew was that it was fearsome.

They had cleared everyone in this district, they have had trouble finding any more civilians, only enemies, luckily no one to strong. Sasuke has kept his Sharingan active the entire time he didn't want to risk anything. Everyone had heard what the Hokage said, he just hoped nothing bad would happen, everything was going good, now it's nighttime, and with all the lights in the village off he truly saw how dark it was. It was just like that night years ago, except this time Sasuke is finally of use, he's been helping people left and right.

The dark didn't really scare him or Sakura, but they did feel uneasy, usually the streets were full of people and everything was good and happy. Now it was silent and dark and at any moment they could engage with someone. They were lucky to only have had to get into a couple small fights, but that last one was the first time Sasuke had actually killed someone. Sakura told herself it was either her or the enemy, but she wasn't sure if that was true, Sasuke seemed unbothered by the kill. Or maybe she's just not used to it because she hasn't ended anyone's life yet.

They turned corner after corner but still found no one, Sakura went to turn another corner but Sasuke stopped her slamming her against the wall and motioning to be quiet. That's when they heard voices, Sasuke carefully peaked around to see who it was. "Fucking leaf scum, and here I thought you guys were supposed to be tough, but I'm barely even using the first level" the Ninja crushed the neck of the leaf Ninja, Sasuke didn't recognize the women but from her jacket he could tell she was a jounin. That scared him because this guy killed her like it was nothing, than he saw the man's body. His eyes widened, 'but how? He has the same markings that I got after I got this curse mark, and it's not affecting him either, he seems… stronger.' Sasuke touched the mark on his neck as he watched the man. 'What did he mean by first level? Fuck I can't ask him, I can't go anywhere either or he'll hear me. Fuck just go away soon' Than Kakashi, Gai, and Asuma joined in the fight.

"Hokage-sama he has the same markings as-"

"Yea I can see that, he must be another one of Orochimaru's pets. Let's quickly put him down like the others" Kakashi said unflinching at being called Hokage.

'Wait Kakashi isn't the hokage, why did Gai call him that, and do they mean Orochimaru's pets? Fuck I'll have to wait until after this battle to get any answers'

The man grinned, "Ah Kakashi of the Sharingan, and Asuma of the Twelve Guardian Ninja, and someone else I don't know. Maybe with you three I should use the second level" Kakashi and Asuma widened their eyes, not knowing the ninja could go to another further level.

Asuma took out his knives, while Kakashi grabbed a single kunai and Gai got ready to attack. The sound ninja just smiled and let the curse mark overtake him going to that second level. The man's body turned black and his hair turned green. He got extremely buff, his muscles breaking his shirt. He smiled and looked at the three ninja before charging them down with surprising speed. Gai charged against the man trying to punch him, but he just smiled, the punches weren't even affecting him. Gai realised this to late and got bitch slapped into a house. Asuma pushed his chakra into his knives and charged the man slicing at him but than got scared when his knives got stuck in the man's arms. No one has ever stopped his wind chakra, it could cut through anything. Kakashi quickly came in for the save by attacking with ninjutsu, he grabbed Asuma and pulled him away, Gai came out and activated the first two gates. Gai charged down the ninja again with super speed, the man couldn't even dodge or block. But the attacks weren't doing much damage still.

Kakashi had a thought and charged down the Ninja charging a raikiri in his hand, Gai saw this and knew what to do, he quickly slammed his leg as hard as he could against the ninja's head knocking him off balance, Kakashi thrust forward with his hand to attack, the man brought up his arm to block not knowing what was going to happen. Kakashi smirked the man's body was as hard as stone that made a lot of sense, but he was still weak to lightning, his raikiri tore through the arm and went into the man's chest. Kakashi quickly pulled his arm out and jumped back in case he had any more tricks.

"Fuck" he coughed up blood falling to his knees, the curse seal started to recede. Kakashi sighed in relief, Gai let loose the gates so to not waste energy. Asuma walked over and ripped out his knives that were still stuck in the man's arms, he sliced off the Ninja's hands for good measure when pulling them out.

"Kakashi-sensei wait!" Sasuke yelled out coming around the corner with Sakura. Almost 5 hours had passed since the fighting started, and he hasn't seen his sensei since he was sent off.

"What are you doing here? You should be helping with the civilians I told you that earlier!" Kakashi barked out, before realising everyone is stressed out and he shouldn't be yelling. "I'm sorry for yelling, but what are you two doing?"

"We were making sure there were no more civilians to get, but we kept getting attacked. Now for my question, what did Gai-sensei mean when he called you Hokage-sama earlier? We both heard it, you're not the hokage, he's fighting that monster and Orochimaru right now" Sasuke wanted answers, "And why did that man have the same seal as me? Why was he stronger with it and what did you mean by Orochimaru's pet"

"I don't have time to answer everything, don't worry about the curse seal for now, as for being Hokage… Hiruzen-sama is making me the acting Hokage, and if he is to pass I will succeed him, right now I'm in control of everyone and Asuma and Gai are my right hand men answering directly to me and no one else and helping give out orders and fighting alongside me taking out Orochimaru's men. You two need to go help watch the villagers, leave the fighting to us" Kakashi said.

Sasuke wanted to yell. He wanted to argue and say why he should fight, hell two months ago he would, six months ago he would have completely blown off Kakashi and done his own thing, but now he knows that there is probably a good reason. Sasuke looked up to see the hellhound on the other side of the village surrounded by fire destroying the village. The hokage and other elite ninja helping fight against the terrifying beast. All of a sudden Naruto flew by them at an extreme speed, Sasuke only saw him because of his Sharingan, he saw that Kakashi and the other Jounin saw the boy too.

"What was that" Sakura asked seeing the blur.

"Naruto..." Sasuke said, he went to jump after but Kakashi stopped him.

"Don't I'll handle him, get to the monument" Kakashi said, all of a sudden six more Naruto's jumped past, they were all doing the same thing that's when Kakashi realised Naruto was back with Jiraiya and hopefully Tsunade. Sasuke really wanted to disobey, but just nodded and grabbed Sakura and the two headed for the monument. Kakashi jumped out and grabbed a Naruto clone, "Right now I'm acting Hokage, explain now."

"Boss is with Tsunade, and Jiraiya. They're protecting Jiraiya while he finishes activating his sage mode before the two go to fight the monster. Gamabunta and some other powerful toads are here also, only bunta is staying with Jiraiya. I'm doing anything I can to help, even I don't know what the boss is doing" Kakashi nodded and killed the clone so the memories would transfer to Naruto.

"Well you heard the boy, Jiraiya and Tsunade are both here so we have our reinforcements. Let's start heading towards the hellhound. Now the real battle begins" Kakashi said and the three went to take off but were stopped.

"Actually" the boy fixed his glasses, "You all won't be going anywhere."

"Kabuto, you're a fool if you think you can defeat all three of us" Kakashi said, but even he knew not to underestimate the boy, he was an elite jounin in skill easily.

"I don't have to win, just hold you off from helping out." With that the boy jumped at them.

With Naruto and gang

"Where the hell did all of these guys come from" Tsunade and Shizune were playing back up while Arashi and Naruto did the attacking. Since Jiraiya hasn't mastered Senju mode, it was taking him a lot longer than planned to get into it. Meanwhile they were being barraged by sound ninja and snake summons. Gamabunta was handling the snakes, Tsunade was doing the best she could not to lose her shit. But for some reason she still hasn't summoned Katsuyu and that wasn't good the village needed the summon.

Naruto quickly charged a Rasengan shoving it into an enemy, said attack surprised Tsunade, she didn't expect the boy to be using an attack like that. An attack from one of her favorite people Minato, granted Jiraiya uses it just as much it belonged to someone special. As it was she was the godmother of the man's kid…

"Tsunade summon Katsuyu" Jiraiya showed up next to her, being more serious than she's ever seen him. She's never seen his sage mode before, and it surprised her how calm she felt just being next to her, she wasn't sure if it was because of the nature chakra or because of the man.

"Jiraiya is he his son? I never would have put two and two together without seeing him use his jutsu" Tsunade needed to know.

"We have no time for that conversation, now it's time to fight so get your shit together, summon Katsuyu and let's win this battle" with that Jiraiya jumped on top of Gamabunta and got ready to fight.

"Oh ho, good job Jiraiya-chan you've got sage mode down under wraps. You ready to go fight?" Gamabunta said as he sliced a snake in half.

"Just give Tsunade a moment, were missing a summon" Gamabunta just shook his head and kept fighting. It took another minute or so but than a large cloud of smoke appeared and Katsuyu showed up. Tsunade and Shizune was on top of the summon, Naruto made a butt load of clones and then he and Arashi jumped up on Gamabunta. "Alright everyone let's go, Gamabunta, Katsuyu were heading to the main fight" The summon's acknowledged Jiraiya with a shake of the head and they all took off to the fight.

Elsewhere

"Oh ho ho, look who we found guys, its a little Uchiha and his girlfriend" the four ninja started to laugh as they surrounded their target.

"Sakura, behind me now" Sasuke said. Activating his Sharingan again, he wasn't too tired but he had used a bit of chakra, and these four had plenty to spare.

"It's funny Orochimaru doesn't even need you anymore, but he hates leaving loose ends so now you're coming with us, or else will just break your bones and kill the girl.

Sasuke smirked and as fast as he could charged the first one trying to catch them off guard, but faster than his body could react he was on the ground. "Now thank you for doing that, now we can kill the girl with no qualms" Sasuke's eyes widened, he couldn't lose anyone again. He activated his curse seal and used the power surge to overcome his enemy and stab the one threatening Sakura in the arm making said limb useless. Before grabbing Sakura and running, he may be overconfident but he knew he couldn't take these weird guys on alone. Kakashi wasn't there to help either which didn't make things better. He just hoped he could outrun them and hide from them, he was lucky they were just outside the Uchiha grounds. So he knew where to hide. He just had to move quickly and hope they didn't find him, only a sharingan user could get inside there stone statue, so if he got there he was safe.

"Come out, come out, come out little Uchiha" one of the fours voices boomed out, laughing as he spoke. "You think your special because of your little curse mark, but you don't have the second level like we do. We can give it to you though." Sasuke stopped in his spot, they knew what he wanted, he was half tempted to go back until he saw Sakura's face. She was terrified.

Sasuke put his finger to his lips, letting her know to stay silent, he quickly took them to where they needed to go, he opened the door and threw Sakura inside before quickly following behind. It didn't take long for slamming to be heard on the entrance.

"Don't worry, they can't get in here not without these eyes" Sasuke said pointing at his eyes.

"Let us in goddamnit!" they banging became louder and harder, meanwhile Sakura started to walk around looking at everything in the shrine.

"You are the first non Uchiha in history to be in here" Sasuke said as he caught the girl staring at a sword.

He came up next to her and also looked at the weapon, he never noticed how beautiful and elegant the sword was before, he now had a craving to master the weapon. "If it wasn't for the situation out front I'd be more grateful, I hope they get driven off soon. I don't think we could beat them in a fight" Sakura was doing her best to stay calm Sasuke could tell.

"I hate to admit it but you're right" the slamming against the entrance got louder and harder, they were going all out to break the seal keeping it closed. Sasuke didn't even seem worried, he was told that even during the Kyuubi attack the shrine seal didn't break, no way these four could break it. "Well we're probably gonna be stuck here until the battles done with, luckily I planned years ago and put non perishables in here. This place is stocked with food and water. As well as a bed," that's when Sasuke stopped talking and blushed.

"What's up?" Sakura could tell something was off.

"I only have one bed in here, and it's a twin" Sakura blushed too, a small bed would mean they would have to be close, or someone would sleep on the cold hard floor. Something neither wanted to do. "I never thought about having to share with someone else, but I prepared enough food to last me at least a month just in case there was a shortage for any reason. Naruto would be ecstatic with how much ramen is here." Sakura laughed a little bit at that statement.

It soon got quite neither knew what to talk about so they just kinda wandered around, both hoping that the ninja would leave so they could leave. All they knew was that they were in for a long night.
