Author's note: PSA! I have been going through and fixing my previous chapters starting with chapter 1, I'm up to chapter 7. I plan to fix 5-7 chapters everytime I update 1 new chapter until I get caught up. So after this chapter is posted I'm updating chapters 8-14. Anyways enjoy this chapter!
The ground shook as the beast landed, everyone in view stood still, even Kira. The monster grinned as he saw what appeared in front of him. The monster that was a hellhound grinned as he got more excited by the new opponents in front of him, the battlefield in front of him was growing smaller and weaker. Less and less people were there to fight,and most everything was destroyed, he did have fun setting the outskirts of the village on fire and even parts of the village itself. The warriors in the village seem to be disappearing, the ones who came with his Summoner at least, and now there were reinforcements. So maybe it was time the monster started to really get to work.
"And who are you little ones, you summons look familiar, but after a thousand years, things and people change. So who might you be" Kira asked the two new summons who appeared on the battlefield. The villagers cheered seeing Jiraiya and Tsunade with there summons.
"I am Gamabunta of the toads, current head chief, this is Katsyu, current chief of the slugs. We have come here to aid this village in defeating you" Gamabunta said, while the Hellhound just started to snicker before he laughed viciously.
After a moment of his laughing he stopped all sounds and got deadly serious, "Let's see if you have what it takes toad" Kira said before launching himself at the two, ignoring Hiruzen and Enma completely.
"Enma let's go assist my students, we cannot let them take this monster on alone. We have no time to rest, that cannot happen at this time." Hiruzen said as his monkey companion sat next to him taking his first break since the fighting began.
Enma struggled up for a second before smirking and looking hard at the fighting that was about to ensnare. "Let's do this my old friend" Enma said before he transformed into a staff.
"Everyone else let us do what we can to help out! If you can attack from a distance then do that! The less people who can get up close the better, leave us be up front, and assists us from behind" The kage yelled to his troops as he hopped on top of Gamabunta. Jiraiya smirked as he saw his teacher next to him, "Let's do this" Hiruzen said.
Enma quickly turned into a staff and with Hiruzen swinging him he made himself longer throwing Kira off balance, at the same time Gamabunta jumped into the air shooting out his famous Toad Oil while Jiriya mixed in one of his fire jutsu's to make the combination Jutsu more deadly. While this was going on Naruto had two clones attack the beast with a large Rasengan. Slamming it into the beasts side after he already been burned before the hellhound had time to recover. The trio looked at each other with smiles, thinking things would be easier, they were soon mistaken. Kira stood up, his body smoking, the damage obviously showing on his body, he let out a loud howl, the air seemed to go still when he did that, "It's been so long since I've been able to have this much fun, Orochimaru, we are going to get along very well if you'll let me have fun like this often." Kira said to the snake on his head, "Now let's have some real fun," The beast then jumped at the ninja, shooting flames from his mouth to distract them, it seemed to work and he quickly swiped his paw at Katsuya making the slug breakdown into a smaller form.
Katsuya acting quickly just formed herself into a bunch of smaller slugs, and at the order of Tsunade moved the mass of her body into the village to help other shinobi and villagers. While Katsuya was busy dispersing herself into the village, Tsunade used the time for a sneak attack. Being so much smaller than the summon she quickly jumped up and with all her might punched him in the ribs actually knocking the hellhound over onto his side. Before the beast could come back up Tsunade with a newfound rage jumped up and nose dived into the beast again hitting him as hard as she could, doing some real damage to the beast, hearing his loud ribs crack from the pressure of the hit.
The beast howled in pain from the attack, Gamabunta took the time to follow Tsunade's attack and came down with his sword trying to quickly end this, Kira was faster though and quickly slapped his head up biting the toad in his side. Kira with his teeth still embedded into Gamabunta stood up burying the toad in the ground Jiraiya jumped off, and using his sage mode quickly charged up the most powerful Rasengan he could and slammed it into Kira. The hellhound only seemed to be pissed off by the attack and used his tail to slap Jiraiya like a gnat. "You foolish little ninja are starting to piss me off, Orochimaru you better hold out long enough to let me kill these guys, your chakra better not run out too soon" The hellhound told the man on top of his head. Orochimaru didn't respond though, everyone was confused as to why the man wasn't attacking, and the hellhound made it clear, Orochimaru was using his chakra to keep the beast there.
Kira quickly went to jump into the village to do more damage, but Hiurzen used Enma to stop the beast slamming the staff into the Hellhound's face this made the Hellhound shoot white flames out of his mouth at the old man. Flames hotter than any fire jutsu aside from Amaterasu, people got scared seeing that the demon in front of them was capable of producing such deadly flames. Naruto finally decided to make a move, creating two more clones to help stabilize him he jumped over Kira and quickly went through his hand signs, while yelling at Jiraiya to match him with a fire jutsu before yelling out his technique, "Futon: Tatsumaki Rendan (Tornado Barrage)" His clones around him were there for stabilization, to make sure Naruto didn't lose control of the jutsu and hurt himself. Naruto got the idea for this from his Rasenshuriken, he used clones to stabilize the jutsu before, so he figured they could help with this and in training it has seemed to work.
Jiraiya watched in amazement at what Naruto did, his body disappeared and in his place a level 5 tornado appeared. He had to quickly get his mind together and push away that amazement so he could use the right amount of chakra in his fire jutsu to match Naruto to bring the extra damage. He quickly poured in a lot of sage chakra and with the right motions of his hands he yelled out, "Katon: Karyuu Endan (Fire release: Fire Dragon Blast" He shot out the fire, it took less than a second to reach Naruto's jutsu, and than with careful chakra control Jiraiya had the jutsu merge with Naruto's to produce maximum damage to the hellhound they currently were facing. Within seconds the entire battleground was gone and in its way was a fiery tornado, crushing Kira. All that could be heard was the monsters screams of agony and pain. The technique didn't let up for a few moments, everyone watched in amazement at what was going on, most people have never seen a battle of this caliber in their life. The tornado didn't last long though, Naruto's chakra wouldn't last long enough and soon the boy was falling through the air his clones long since poofed out of existence. Jiraiya cut off his jutsu the same time Naruto's started to die out, he saw the boy falling and with the extra oomph from his sage mode he quickly jumped to the boy saving him from the deadly fall. No one seemed to pay too much mind to the large hellhound that was still there. Even though it was chared and covered in multiple cuts from the tornado.
"You did good boy, let the grown ups fight from here, you don't have to do anything" Jiraiya said, but he could tell the fighting was far from over. With his newfound sensory skills he could tell that Kakashi, Gai and Asuma finished fighting Kabuto, but the boy had disappeared, he wasn't dead though. There were still sound ninja in the village fighting, but most of them had been neutralized, the real threat was Kira, if he got up again he didn't know what they could do to stop him.
"You got lucky you little bastards, seems my summoner can't hold out too long, if I didn't need to siphon his chakra to be here I would eat all of you. Be forewarned, I will be back" With that Kira disappeared scaring everyone who heard his message. Jiraiya wasn't going to have any of it though, there would be no next time.
The sage, using the last of his natural chakra walked over to his old rival, pulling a Kunai out of nowhere. "There is no more escape for you Orochimaru" Jiraiya was disgusted with the man. He may preach peace, but he knew with this man in the world, peace would never be attainable.
"You can't kill me" Orochimaru snickered as he went to stand up, only for Jiraiya to slam the man down to the ground by his throat, crushing the mans trachea.
"Do not fucking move" Jiraiya snarled out, "For years I had to sit back and watch all the evil you did, but this." Jiraiya stopped to control himself before standing up, "For your crimes against the leaf, humanity and everyone else in this world I sentence you to death Orochimaru." Orochimaru was struggling to breath, trying to find a way out, but with Jiraiya's sage mode he was too strong to escape. For the first time in his life, as he stared at his former teammates eyes, Orochimaru felt true terror, not knowing what was in the beyond. Without another word Jiraiya took his Kunai, coating it in wind chakra, he sliced off the snakes head, and then burned the body to make sure the man was dead.
Jiraiya turned around to see his sensei, "Is… is it done?" Hiruzen almost didn't want to ask, but after everything that just happened he knew it had to be done.
Jiraiya picked up the head, "This is all that's left I destroyed the body, I had to make sure he couldn't come back." Hiruzen nodded, understanding completely, they couldn't trust Orochimaru further then they could throw a village, and neither of them could throw an entire village.
The trio of shinobi and Naruto looked back at the village, and was mortified to see all the damage that was done to it. A good portion of the village was completely decimated, lots of other parts were on fire, Sound ninja were starting to retreat now that Orochimaru was gone and so was Kira. Kabuto left the battle, wounded he was still dangerous and was better left alone unless confronted by an elite ninja. Without waiting Hiruzen gave the order to his ninja to quickly check through the village to find any and all dead shinobi, and to take out any enemy left. There would be no survivors or prisoners, the old Sarutobi knew that the only person with valuable information would be Kabuto. There was no point in keeping any other ninja alive, anyone with fealty to Orochimaru needed to be killed. They wouldn't switch sides no matter what or give up any information on the man. Not that any would seriously have any.
"Old man what should we do" Jiraiya asked his hokage, with Tsunade and Naruto by his sides.
Hiruzen thought for a moment wondering what the best course of action would be to do. Finally he decided, "Tsunade go heal any critically injured shinobi, Shizune tend to the less critical injuries. We don't need to lose any more people than need be, ignore citizens for now, as hard as it is to say without or shinobi we wouldn't even be able to protect them anyways so it's of no use to heal them yet. Jiraiya, you and Naruto go fight off any remaining enemy shinobi and rally our troops to help fight anyone else, also put out the word to find and name the total dead we have. I will go on my own to do what I can" With that everyone nodded and took off doing what must be done.
Naruto sighed, he didn't even have to ask as kurama gave the boy some chakra. He could at the very least fill the boy's reserves, but he couldn't help the boy with his exhaustion, his body would need rest soon. Jiraiya and Naruto quickly took off to where they could feel a large mass of chakra, for some reason it was in the Uchiha district. As they got closer they took their time to see who it was instead of charging in. Naruto gasped and looked wide eyed, "What is it? Do you know them?" Jiraiya asked needed to know the enemy.
"It's Orochimaru's personal bodyguards, otherwise known as the Sound 4. They can all use the second level of the curse mark giving them powers above that of a jounin, even an elite jounin. They are crazy strong and should not be taken lightly." Naruto told the man, not being able to give him much more than that since he never really fought them the first time around.
"I see, I'll go in first for the attack you support me, it looks like they're trying to get into the Uchiha shrine, probably to steal information. We can't let them do that" Naruto nodded knowing Jiraiya going in first was the smarter move, even with his sage jutsu exhausted he still had his normal reserves and could keep the fight going for a while.
Jiraiya quickly charged in a rasengan in hand and took out the first of the four. A big brute of a man.
"What the fuck, who took out Jirobo?" Tayuya said as she turned to see Jiraiya, not recognizing who the man was. "Well look here boys, some old fuck thinks he's going to take us on, he got lucky with the fat ass, a good surprise attack and he does look the strongest, but really fatty was weaker then all of us." Tayuya smirked as she and the other three stared down Jiraiya.
"It seems my old teammate never told you guys who I was, not like it matters now that the snake is dead" Jiraiya said, that seemed to pick a nerve on all of them.
"The fuck did you say about Lord Orochimaru? No way is he dead, no fucking tree hugger could beat him, including that old geezer of a kage you guys have"
"If that's true then why did everyone retreat, including Kabuto, why is his summon gone" Jiraiya said trying to egg them on.
Kidomaru was the first to retaliate not wanting to believe the man. He quickly laced an arrow and let it fly towards Jiraiya, the Sannin's eyes widened as he barely had time to dodge the attack, before a giant ghost monster with a club smashed into him knocking him into a nearby building. Jiraiya quickly got up just to see Ukon next to him, kunai in hand. Jiraiya quickly dropped his body to the ground to avoid getting stabbed and grabbed the boy by his ankle dragging him forward and knocking him down. Not stopping he jumped up still holding the boy and smashed the body into the ground, making the concrete underneath crack outwards. Before he could let go of the boy though, a third arm appeared seemingly out of nowhere grabbing Jiraiya by the wrist and a third leg came out kicking the sage in his gut, hard.
The surprise attack really threw Jiraiya off, luckily Naruto came in with his Seijitsu Kaze-Ken (Faithful Wind Blade), and cut the twins across the chest. The boys barely had time to dodge even merged together. "Where the hell did you come from boy" Ukon said as he started to activate his second level of the curse mark. Naruto and Jiraiya looked around to see the other two following in sync. Naruto quickly charged in against Ukon while Jiraiya took on the giant ghost monsters, trying to get to Tayuya.
Kidomaru smirked as he sat in the background and charged up an arrow just waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Naruto was happy that he didn't have his weights on he was easily keeping up with the members of Orochimaru's guard. He was avoiding trying to let the monster merge with him, Sakon and Ukon would attack together, while Naruto did his best to dodge or block the attack. He finally saw an opening and swiped at Sakon's legs knocking the boy over. Now! Kidomaru thought as he let go of his arrow. He wasn't very far from the fight, the boy had no chance of dodging and was oblivious to what was going on. Naruto was bringing down a Kunai to quickly kill the one brother when the arrow shot straight through his stomach piercing his kidney. Naruto screamed in pain as he fell to the ground holding his wound. This gave the twins enough time to get up and start wailing on Naruto. Naruto did the only thing he could, he charged up a Rasengan and shoved it at one of the boys blowing him back. Before the other boy could react Naruto grabbed his ankle knocking the boy on his back and with the kunai he had dropped earlier he used to slice Ukon's Achilles tendons. The boy screamed but before Naruto could do anymore damage another arrow hit him. Piercing through his chest. Naruto's eyes went wide as he landed on both his knees blood pooling out of his chest and back where he was shot.
"Kumara" Even in his own head he couldn't talk straight as he coughed up blood falling onto the ground, "Help me" Naruto begged his friend as he started to see the black surround him.
The fox could already tell the arrow nipped his heart and crushed a lung, the boy was going into congestive heart failure, his working lung was having a pneumothorax, and Naruto was quickly dying. "I'm doing all I can, hold on Dammit!" Kumara screamed as he flooded as much chakra into the boys system as possible. Naruto allowing this to happen let him start pulling out more chakra, the now sound three and Jiraiya watched as the Kyuubi's chakra poured out of Naruto, his fleshing healing almost instantly, his organs and everything else were also quickly healing. A single tail grew around Naruto's body as the boy stood up, taking on more fox like features.
Naruto roared fearsomely as the sound ninja looked on at him terrified. Sakon was by his brother merging bodies so his brother could focus on healing his now torn Achilles tendon when the roar was heard. Everyone but Jiraiya looked on in fear, the sage knew Naruto had more control then he showed. Without a word Naruto disappeared from everyone's sight except Jiraiya and Kidomaru. The sound ninja could barley track Naruto, Kidomaru wasted no time and quickly made another arrow and was getting ready to string it when he looked down to see a hand in his stomach. His insides started to burn as he felt the toxic chakra that was the Kyuubi. The man screamed a horrible scream as Tayuya and the twins looked on in horror. It was at that moment the stone that was holding the Uchiha and friend started to open and they looked on to see Naruto covered in that horrible red chakra.
"God what is that chakra? Everytime he uses it, it's like a monster has taken over him" Sakura asked Sasuke clinging close to him.
The boy didn't want to admit it, but the chakra terrified him. Everything about it made him want to run and get help. He instinctively activated his Sharingan to try and keep up with Naruto's speed. It barely helped though, he just saw a blur, but it was better than nothing he guessed. Sasuke watched as Naruto tore through Kidomaru like his skin was butter, he heard the screams as he watched the man's insides burn just from Naruto's chakra. Sasuke then focused his eyes on the chakra, and what he saw terrified him even more, he saw what seemed to be death itself, pure malice and evil flowed off of it. Naruto disappeared but Sasuke watched as the chakra that was left behind in Kidomaru's body started to tear through the man, burning his inner organs slowly killing him. Sakura clutched onto Sasuke tightly, he instinctively held her with one arm, pretending that's all he needed to do to keep her safe. He watched as Naruto moved to the injured twins with his arm and watched as a rasengan was formed in less then a second slamming into the boys. Sasuke had seen Naruto use the technique before and knew how powerful it was naturally, but now with whatever this was surrounding the boy he saw the power of the attack increases nearly twenty fold. When the twins were hit even Sasuke could tell that the attack killed them. He watched as the power churned through into their bodies. Their chest caved in, and then Sasuke watched Naruto turned around looking for his next target. Sasuke saw the boy, his eyes sharp and red, feral, his whiskers more defined. He's never truly seen Naruto in full detail when he got like this and honestly he was terrified.
All Sasuke could think about was how he could barely even touch these guys, and here was Naruto destroying them like they were nothing. "What the fuck are you" Tayuya looked horrified. This kid just took out her whole team like it was nothing, and he wasn't giving up anytime soon either. Naruto looked at the girl, his facing getting angry just looking at her, "Because of you and your fucking team a lot of people I care about have been hurt or worse. Your punishment is death" Naruto's voice was demonic as he said that. Even Jiraiya grimaced as he heard that, but he knew that Naruto would be better after all of this was done. It was over before anything more could happen, after the girls body went limp falling to the ground Naruto stood up straight relaxing his body as the fox's chakra started to recede. Naruto's face and body was covered in blood, the boy closed his eyes as he looked away from the bodies surrounding him. He took off his jacket to wipe the blood off his face before discarding the clothing onto the ground not needing it.
Jiraiya walked over to the boy, placing a hand on his shoulder, "You good kid? I wasn't sure who was in control there."
"Yea I'm good, I just get more animalistic when I get like that. It's hard to not go on a murderous rampage if I'm being honest. Now that it's all done though I should be fine, I just hate having to get like that" Naruto said, that's when they heard the sound.
Naruto went wide eyed as he saw Sasuke and Sakura, the two seemed terrified. He still hasn't told them about the fox, the boy cursed under his mouth as Sasuke slowly approached him, his Sharingan still blazing. "What the fuck was that? You keep using that chakra, what is it? Every time it comes out you get insanely strong. The chakra itself is terrifying and suffocating, what is it? What aren't you telling us goddamnit!" Sasuke was still holding a cowering Sakura, something probably neither of them noticed was happening anymore, though Sakura was looking up now listening in on the conversation. Jiraiya had taken a step back by now to let everything play itself out, this wasn't his conversation to get into.
Naruto sighed looking to his godfather hoping to get any kind of head, but the man just shook his head. Naruto faced his two teammates knowing there was nothing more he could do but tell them, "Come here you two, I can explain everything but I need you to trust me."
The two were hesitant of course. How could they not be, everything about Naruto was an enigma, and that power he used was absolutely terrifying including when he acts the way they just saw. Sasuke took a deep breath though making the first move, "We're going to have to trust him Sakura if we're going to find anything out about what's going on" Sakura reluctantly nodded her head taking in Sasuke's lead and walking to their teammate.
"Ok Kurama, let them in" Naruto said out loud, confusing the two as they grabbed the boys outstretched hand.
Naruto closed his eyes and nothing happened at first and then it was instantaneous. One second Sakura and Sasuke were looking at Naruto and the next it was like they were falling and they were in a sewer. The two looked around, the light was really dim so it was hard to see but the place was giant. Sasuke turned his sharingan back on and was shocked to see that this wasn't a genjutsu, wherever they were it was real. The two started to walk forward no real goal in sight, but the more forward they walked the brighter the light got.
It didn't take long for Sasuke and Sakura to see Naruto sitting by a giant cage, the two ignored the cage and walked to Naruto. "What is this place" Sakura asked first, with a calm voice.
Naruto said nothing and looked up at the cage, the other two followed his gaze and that's when they saw it. Their eyes widened when they saw the huge beast, "So, this is the Uchiha brat and the girl huh? You were right Kit, they aren't much of anything just two little runts" Kurama said, the two acting as if the future had never happened which was quite an easy task.
"N-Nar-Narut-" Sasuke couldn't even get out the other boys name he was stamering so much.
"Yes you guys, this is the Nine Tailed Demon Fox that terrorized our village when we were babies. Has no one guessed that the reason my birthday is the same day he appeared and disappeared? It's not because the fourth killed him, no he was sealed inside me. That is why I'm hated so much by so many people, Citizens don't understand sealing and a lot of Shinobi just didn't care." Naruto stated calmly before looking up at the fox, "But Kurama here isn't a bad guy, he was being used the night of the attack I've seen his memories. I'm sorry for keeping this secret from you two for so long, but this is the reason why Jiraiya has taken me under his wing. It's so the three of us can work on me controlling Kurama's chakra. Also for protection from a group of individuals who want to kidnap me and steal Kurama out of my seal, which would ultimately kill me too." Naruto said telling them a lot but not near everything.
"B-but how? Why?" Sakura said being the first to speak, her and Sasuke's eyes still fixed on the fox trying not to lose it.
"Those are answers even I wish I had, all I can say is that the fourth must have known I was a special child in order to use me. Because not just anyone can hold the Kyuubi. The difference in power from the 8 tails to the Ninth is huge, only an Uzumaki can hold it" Naruto answered, still waiting for their eyes to meet his graze.
It took a while before the two could lower their eyes to look at their teammate. A lot has happened in such a short time, no one knew who was alive or dead anymore, a new powerful enemy had appeared out of nowhere and now they learned what truly happened to the Kyuubi no Kitsune and what was wrong with their friend. It sounded wrong to say that there was something wrong with Naruto, but did him having the beast a good thing? The two were unsure, the chakra was dark and evil, but Naruto seemed to control it for good.
"You two are lucky, even if the kit doesn't show it much he cares deeply for both of you. It's why he pushes both of you to get stronger, as you should" Kurama told Sakura and Sasuke once more getting the two's attention. "The kit is a good person, it's why I allow him to use my chakra without too much adverse effects. Though it's not foolproof he's getting better at it." Naruto pouted at that, earning a snicker from Sakura due to the childish face the boy made. "But we both knew it was time you two knew the truth, it was not something he wished for anyone to find out for a while, many of the older generation already knows due to having been around during the sealing of course, consider yourselves lucky to know such a secret."
"So now you know everything" Naruto stated, as he too looked up at Kurama. "This is a heavily guarded secret, I'm not sure who all knows but if you tell anyone I will feed you to him" Naruto said. Sasuke and Sakura looked mortified at the thought while the beast snickered.
"Don't tease me kit, it's been almost a century since I've last ate" Kurama licked his lips, "I could just eat them now" He said as his face peered against the bars of the cage, his voice was growling out. The two gennin backed away in fear, terrified at the thought, but it didn't take more than a moment for Naruto and Kurama to start laughing. "Oh kami it's been too long since I've had a laugh that good."
With tears in his eyes, and he holding his sides Naruto responded in kind, "I feel that man, it's been way too long" Sasuke looked pissed that the two played him so well, Sakura couldn't help but chuckle due to the fact that it was kind of funny. "Anyways it's been too long, we have to leave and help with the village." Naruto said to the two as he left his mindscape, Sakura and Sasuke returning back to their own bodies.
"So… what now?" Sasuke asked unsure of what to do.
"You two go back and help out with everyone" Jiraiya said, "Naruto is going to stay with me and help take out any more enemies we find. Sasuke, protect Sakura and go help any and all civilians."
Naruto looked over to his godfather as the two gennin took off, "This is gonna be hard to come back from isn't it?" the boy knew the answer but wanted confirmation.
"Let's get going, our job isn't done yet" Was all the man could say as he took off to the roof tops, Naruto in close pursuit.
After Naruto and Jiraiya left though, Sasuke and Sakura came back to the shrine. They just wanted to get away so the boy closed the shrine and the two went to bed together, not even thinking about what to really do. It had been way to long of a day and they were scared for what would happen next.
Author's note: so that's the 32'd chapter. From here on out is when things get real, Naruto and the gang need to start preparing for what's to come next, because this isn't even close to the end. I'm sorry for the long overdue chapter update, and I will try to be quicker about the next one, until next time.
