Author's note: so this entire chapter will 100% focus on the fight with guren, I hope I can dazzle all of you enough to be excited for what's to come next. "It's going to be fun to kill you" Guren smiled as she turned her head to the side. Naruto growled at the girl as she just smiled at him. He needed to be calm, but honestly, he just wanted to rip through the girl. He needed to hurry, get to Sasuke before it was too late, though he had a gut feeling it was already too late if he was being honest with himself. Something just didn't feel right and he was scared that more things were going to keep falling apart.
Naruto charged the girl swiping at her with his claws, with her eyes closed she managed to dodge the attack. She twirled her body slamming her leg into Naruto throwing the boy across the clearing and through two trees. Naruto got up in time to just barely avoid being struck by one of Guren's crystals, he accurately dodged the crystals flying at him. He knew from his last life that trying to parry one with a kunai would be no good. The strength of those crystals were insane he had to be careful. One hit and Naruto was as good as dead as far as he was aware.
Naruto charged forward again, hoping to take the girl on, in a fight hand to hand because that's where his advantage was. He was stronger with his fists than anything else, anyone can take a ninjutsu head on and survive, but the impact from a punch or kick could always do more damage.
Naruto through a few punches at the girl trying to get a feel for her, but no matter what he did, she was able to parry every attack he threw. She waited for her own opening before delivering a powerful punch to the boys stomach. Or so she thought he egged her on and quickly dodged the attack grabbing the girls arm he pulled her down to the ground. He delivered a powerful hit to the girls shoulder smiling as he heard a crack and could tell he either broke it or at the very least knocked her shoulder out of the socket.
The girl grinned, "Oh this is fun, maybe I should stop playing around" Guren said as she jumped back. She grabbed her arm and placed it right back in her socket, "I didn't think you had that much control jinchuuriki, oh well time to let loose Guren smiled as she brought her arms out as if to stretch. Naruto could feel her chakra as it exploded, showing that she had some real power behind her words. "Well it was nice knowing you, sorry I gotta kill you and your friends, but I might keep the puppy for myself Guren said, "I've always wanted a puppy Guren disappeared from view and when she showed back up she had a crystal coming out from her arm stabbing Naruto in the stomach. Naruto couldn't believe how weak he felt in that moment, he fell to his knees coughing blood out, Kurama was already healing the wound but that didn't make it hurt any less.
Guren smiled when she saw him already and brought another quick slash down his arm ripping it open as blood spattered. Shikamaru and kiba saw this and were terrified, they were glued to where they were standing unsure of what to do. It's not like they could run, she would easily catch up, here she was tearing apart Naruto quit literally, and the more of his blood that splattered on her the bigger her smile grew. Shikamaru was the first to come to his senses, he knew she would be there for a while, but didn't want to bet on it.
He quickly ran to Kiba, "Listen we have seconds here, not even I'm gonna try to trap her with my shadow possession jutsu, you need to hit her with the strongest attack you got when I get her do you understand!" Shikamaru said trying to whisper but show the urgency in his voice.
When Kiba didn't answer he slapped the boy and that brought him back, "Yea, I understand"
"Good" Shikamaru quickly got down and shot his shadow across the clearing to where the girl was. Kiba moved to get closer already preparing whatever attack he had in mind. Shikamaru tried to ignore Naruto's screams of pain as Guren kept stabbing him over and over again. Shikamaru watched as his shadow got closer and right before it was time he looked over at Kiba. The boy nodded and Shikamaru connected his move.
Guren went to go attack Naruto again this time aiming for his genitals when she felt her body go stiff. She couldn't move and she didn't know why, "PASSING FANG OVER FANG" Kiba shouted as he and Akamaru attacked the girl from behind. The attack hit her dead on as Kiba and Akamaru's claws dug into the girl at deadly speeds before she flew forward. Shikamaru quickly landed next to the boys, Naruto's chakra cloak was receding as he fought to keep his eyes open. His wounds were closed but he was still in excruciating pain.
"Ok we might have a minute before she's back up and she will be pissed, Naruto we need to leave now and we need a distraction" Shikamaru said.
Naruto nodded as he fought to stand up coughing up some blood, he still wasn't fully healed yet. It was clear from looking at Naruto that he was scared of this woman, which didn't help calm Kiba or Shikamaru's fears at all. "Ok I'm gonna do what I did in Wave, I'm gonna spam hundreds of clones and we're going to run as fast as we can ok?" Naruto said, the two gave each other a worried look but there wasn't anything better that they could think of.
"Do it" Shikamaru said, Guren was starting to get up when he said this holding her back. She was pissed off now because that really hurt and she could feel some blood trickling down her back.
"TAJU KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU" Naruto shouted as hundreds of clones popped into existence into the clearing, all of them pulling on enough of Kumara's chakra to stay in existence but also be stronger. "Guys you need to head back and get reinforcements, I don't care what lie you need to tell Hokage-sama, just do it. I will continue after Sasuke she will chase me since I'm bigger prey anyways." Naruto said as he got ready to leave, his clones meanwhile attacking with rasengans in hand, creating explosions on the ground.
"Naruto wai-" Shikamaru went to stop his friend.
"No listen I'm the strongest of us three I'm the only one who can do this now fucking go." Naruto said before taking off. Shikamaru sighed, he knew that they wouldn't be able to catch the boy, he looked up to see water crashing over head, he could feel the water had chakra in it. He looked on hoping that Neji and Lee were okay, they were miles away and yet the attacks made by the other boy could be felt. Shikamaru shuttered, this was not a mission that was meant to be led by gennin and chunin, this was easily a Jounin if not Anbu level mission. Shikamaru knew he was going to get in trouble but he was going to go off on their new hokage. He had no other option, he just needed to make it home alive first.
He and Kiba quickly took off going around the battle, he figured that would would be the best course of action, the ground shook as he tried to run away, he wasn't sure which battle it was the one in the front or the one in back. He just knew he had no place in it. He had all the knowledge in the world, but that didn't mean anything if he couldn't help. He had no means of organizing ninja or contacting them, with so little this was a battle he couldn't win. Retreat was the only option.
"Hey kids" Shikamaru and Kiba froze when they heard a new voice and quickly got on the defensive pulling out Kunai. "Woah, woah hang out I'm on your side."
The two turned around to see a very powerful Jounin, "Zabuza Momchi! You just joined the village not that long ago, why are you here?" Shikamaru asked, though internally he was grateful they might have a chance at winning with this man on their side.
"Tsuande sent me and my apprentice to come help, she's taking care of the Hozuki kid while I came to see where I'm needed." Zabuza said as he faced the kids, before the ground rumbled again. "What the hell is that anyways? The leaf isn't known for earthquakes" Zabuza said.
"That's Naruto, and he's losing they have someone whose a user of a Kekkei Genkai called Crystal Release. She's strong, stronger than Naruto she's just making fun of him now. He sent us back to get reinforcements, he's using a tactic he said that he learned in Wave where he overrides the enemy with clones while everyone escapes." Zabuza grew a tick on his forehead hearing this. He was all to familiar with this tactic, "He went on ahead, but this girl… it's crazy she to strong, and according to Naruto her Crystals are indestructible." Shikamaru finished giving his report. "I have nothing left to say, you can take control of this mission now I don't need this responsibility and you outrank me" Shikamaru said, Zabuza grinned.
"Ok kid, and Crystal Release you say? Man Orochimaru is going all out I haven't seen someone with that bloodline since the last war. If what you say is true then I might just need your help" Zabuza said as Shikamaru groaned out loud. "Don't bitch out kid, this girl is strong and from what I hear you Nara's are damn smart."
"Ok so what's the plan then?" Kiba asked tired of not having a say.
"I'm gonna use my infamous hidden mist jutsu, Nara, you're going to try and find a chance to disable her, all I would need is five seconds max" Zabuza said, Shikamaru nodded.
"Kiba you go back to the village, get whoever you can that's an order" Shikamaru said.
"I'll be as fast as I can" Kiba said as he went to leave.
"Wait kid, stop by and make sure the others are okay too, you're there only back up" Zabuza said, Kiba nodded as he left. "Alright Nara let's go" Zabuza said as Shikamaru sighed before following the man.
"OKAY FUCK THESE CLONES" Guren shouted
"Ah old times" Zabuza thought with a snicker as he watched the girl get angry. He realized the explosion was the use of Rasengan from all the clones. He didn't know Naruto had that jutsu and he felt grateful that he never got hit by one.
"Shōton: Kurenai no Foresuto (Crystal Style: Crimson Forest)." Guren said after going through a few quick hand seals.
"Oh fuck" Zabuza grabbed Shikamaru and turned high tale and ran as fast as he could, Shikamaru cursed out as he was grabbed, confused before turning around he saw a plethrea of Crystals flying out of the ground mimicking the First hokage's Nativity of a World Trees jutsu. The crystals grew out of the ground and flew out wildly and randomly into Crystal Trees. The Jutsu was truly devastating, all of the clones were destroyed like they were nothing. Not just the clones but the entire area, nothing was left but the Crystal Trees. Guren was breathing hard, and looked visibly angry by what happened. It was clear this Jutsu used a lot of chakra and she wasn't used to it, but she also looked hurt, meaning that the clones did there job. Even Zabuza knew that sometimes numbers did help. Now it was time for quality to come in to play.
"Alright kid be careful if I remember from the war, even though she isn't using those crystals she can control them as if she was. Be careful you're my support so stay back and help where you see fit or if I tell you" Zabuza said as he set Shikamaru down, the boy nodded.
"Alright Jinchuuriki where the fuck are you, I didn't feel your blood so I know you're not dead" Guren screamed. Zabuza used his hidden mist jutsu, making sure everything was hidden from sight. "Okay what the fuck is this? I tried to be a good girl" Guren seemed to calm down as she snickered at her own joke, "But it looks like it's time to be very bad" She said with a very seductive voice. Zabuza wanted to make a snide reply but knew better, he had to be absolutely quiet. He didn't need to be heard, he had to be quieter than the air when the wind blew. He carefully made his way through the clearing trying to not touch any of the crystals. He could sense Guren she was carefully looking around trying to see someone or sense anything.
Guren tried to reach out and sense something but she felt chakra everywhere, this mist was laced with it so she couldn't sense where anyone was. "Ok then let's have some fun" She said making two swords out of the crystals. She was smart she knew there was pretty much nothing that could break her crystals. By using them as weapons too she could make sure they stayed indestructible, as far as she knows only Kimimaro and Orochimaru has actually broken them. Though Kimimaro had the curse mark making his abilities way stronger, Orochimaru didn't want to risk giving it to her incase her body didn't agree with it, which is understandable. She'll do anything for Orochimaru, and right now that means killing these guys so Sasuke can arrive on time.
She barely heard it but Guren dropped her body as a huge sword was swung over her almost cleaving her in half. "Woah buddy, you almost got me, but now it's my turn" She smiled as she struck at the jounin, not initially realizing who it was because it was hard to see him. Zabuza brought his sword up in an attempt to stop the attack but her crystal sword ripped his executioner's blade in half and cut his arm. Zabuza quickly backed up and used his blood on the sword smiling as he watched it grow back even stronger than before. He loved that his sword did it, it's why it became one of the infamous swords, anytime it became damaged as long as it was repaired with blood it would grow back more durable than it was the last time. "You almost got me there come on big boy, show me what you've got!" Guren teased trying to see where her opponent went. "It's unfair I can't see where you've gone to, let's get a good look at you please sir" She said trying to be as seductive as possible.
Zabuza chuckled to himself, making sure to keep it internal so as to not get found. He knew what this girl was doing and if he were a lesser shinobi he would fall for the bait. Shame for her he came from the bloody mist and not Iwa or else she might get him. It was hard not to speak back but he learned when he fought Kakashi that talking when using this jutsu isn't good because he can be pinpointed. He's learned and has only gotten stronger, and with Haku not here he can fully let loose too. He just hopes he can win this in the mist, there's no water nearby, at least not for a few miles and he won't be able to move the battle that far over. He could still use his jutsu of course, but it would be more taxing without a clear water source and trees only held so much water in them.
"Found you" Guren said from behind as Zabuza widened his eyes, he barely moved in time as he brought his sword up to block the attack he knew was coming as he moved forward to avoid the reach of the attack. His sword got damaged from her crystal sword's but wasn't destroyed this time, he smirked while Guren seemed annoyed by this change of events. She thought that she had broken the man's sword just a couple minutes ago.
"Heh, almost got me kid, that was good" Zabuza said as he looked at the girl it would be hard to get away now that she spotted him.
It finally clicked as she widened her eyes, "I knew, I knew you! You're Zabuza Momchi of the Seven Swordsmen of The Mist!" She said, Zabuza grinned at being recognized by someone so young. "I can't wait to see what your blood taste like after I kill you" She said with her sweet voice, smiling again and tilting her head trying to sound as cute as possible. The way she said it even made Zabzua uneasy.
Without another word she attacked charging forward Zabuza had already started healing the sword with his blood again, making his sword even stronger, but it didn't help much the girl may be young but she was strong and fast. Zabuza switched to a one handed method with his sword, using the giant blade to attack while using his free arm to throw punches whenever the girl would block his sword with her crystal swords. This went back and forth for a few minutes, Zabuza started to get pushed back though, he wasn't very used to swinging the large blade with one arm. The man quickly jumped back to gain some room before setting his sword down and quickly attacking with a water dragon jutsu. Guren smirked, using a crystal dragon jutsu to destroy the weaker dragon, but that's exactly what Zabuza wanted. He used the spray of water mixed with the mist to quickly jump back into hiding.
"Alright kid I'm gonna need your help, I may be more experienced than here, but she's stronger than me. While I may be able to outlast her I don't want to take a chance of that." Zabuza hated swallowing his pride and admitting defeat to a small child, but he wasn't stupid like most of the other swordsmen, he knew when to ask for help. That's why he trained Haku for so long.
"Don't worry, I know exactly what to do, she doesn't know my abilities so I will be able to catch her off guard again. Your window of opportunity is going to be seconds though, she will quickly be able to overpower my technique so we won't have much time" Shikamaru said to the man as he listened to the boys plan.
After a couple seconds of quick hushed talking between the two Zabuza smirked, "You've got guts kid I like that. If we survive I'll teach you a few things when we get back to the village" The swordsman smirked, Shikamaru groaned internally though, he didn't want any more training. He wanted to just watch clouds and relax.
"Alright let's go" Shikamaru said before using a transformation jutsu and turning into a kunai. Zabuza put the boy in his hand before quietly leaving.
"Zabby-kun where are you" Guren yelled out, while bending over trying to be cute and show off what little assets she had for her age. "I know you're around just come out and play with me for a little while, please!" She made sure to quiver her lip as she begged, she was really working for that cute angle. Zabuza was glad he wasn't a weaker shinobi or else this just might work, that and she was also a child.
Zabuza was quick as he through the kunai at the girl, she smirked as she easily dodged the attack and shot forward at the man who was already swinging his sword at her. Guren ducked under the attack and while still twisting her body brought her crystal sword up, Zabuza quickly adjusted his wrist in order to block the attack and then quickly kicked at the girl connecting with her chest sending her backwards into a tree.
Guren stood up looking a bit upset, "That wasn't very nice Zabby-kun, don't worry though after I rip your spleen out while you're still breathing I'll be sure to let you watch me drink your blood" Guren said with her smile which only terrified the man more at the girl's words. It terrified him because he knows that given the chance she will do exactly that. The girl than charged against the man and attacked him again, Zabuza was now doing better at fighting her, she wasn't very good with her swords but she was fast and flexible which made it harder for him to hit her. But with her basic style of fighting it also made her predictable so he wasn't getting stabbed or cut anymore. The two kept hashing it out, Zabuza getting more and more lee way with each passing blow much to the girls annoyance. Including for the fact that she's destroyed his sword three times now, and each time it got stronger. She couldn't even crack the damn thing.
"Shadow possession complete" Shikamaru said as Guren went to block an attack from Zabuza just to realize she couldn't move again. Guren's eyes widened as Zabuza's sword connecting slicing off one of the girls arms and planting itself in her midsection before it was stopped by crystal armor. Seems she tried to activate it before he finished her off, and lucky she was he almost cut her right in half.
Guren produced a scream of pain so loud that Zabuza was forced to cover her ears. Guren forced her Ice release to cover her open wounds so as to not let her bleed out as she fell to the ground holding the spot where. Shikamaru's shadow had already failed him, but it didn't matter because it served its purpose. The boy quickly retreated back into the mist, he already knew he had no role in this fight outside of a support role. Guren stood up, her hair a mess and now visible pissed, "Alright after I kill you I'm gonna find the boy who keeps paralyzing me and I'm gonna torture him nice and slow" Guren looked around, "YOU HEAR THAT MOTHERFUCKER YOU'RE GOING TO WATCH AS I RIP OUT YOUR INSIDES AND FEED THEM TO YOU" Guren screamed before standing up, drenched in sweat. It was clear that whatever she did to stop Zabuza from killing her took a lot out of her.
"Girl give up now, you're done for. I can tell that you're running on fumes now after stopping me from killing you. You're defeated, accept that and I won't kill you" Zabuza said placing his weapon on his shoulder.
Guren smirked before closing her eyes. Zabuza was curious, but figured the girl was just deciding on her options. All of a sudden a white aura covered the girl and she winced in pain before falling to a knee. After a few moments of silence she started to laugh as she stood up facing Zabuza, no longer looking tired. "You think I'm done? No, you're done" Guren charged at the man at full speed, shocking the man, he was barely able to block in time. It was like she never even fought him, she didn't even seem winded.
Can she use the gates? Zabuza thought as he fought against the girl trying his best not to get struck down. She may be fast but she only had one arm she could use now. "You think you're so tough, but even with one arm, I'm going to fucking kill you." Guren smirked she could see the confusion on the older mans face. "Aw how cute, you can't figure out how I'm at full strength" She disappeared and reappeared cutting the man's cheek, "I can focus some of my life energy and use it to fully restore my chakra reserves, I just finally mastered this ability, so now prepare to die." Guren smirked as she attacked with full force.
Zabua got quick to thinking about how to stop this girl, he wasn't spent, and still had most of his chakra, but he couldn't let this drag out again or else she would beat him. The man threw her off him and quickly made 5 water clones before resuming his attack. "Pitiful, this is the best that a swordsman of the mist has to offer." Guren used the crystal covering the spot where her left arm used to be to make a new arm and hand made of pure crystal. Zabuza widened his eyes at the artificial limb. It took her a few moments, but she quickly got the hang of using the fake arm as if it was the real deal. Guren quickly made some shuriken out of crystals destroying the water clones before they could get close to Zabuza, and then pulling on her chakra she forced the Shurikens to come back, all five of them planting into Zabuza's body.
Zabuza grunted in pain as he stumbled forward, "You know what they say. An eye for an eye, a limb for a limb." Guren didn't even hesitate as she brought down her sword slicing off Zabuza's arm, the man screaming out in pain. Guren went to attack again before an explosion went off throwing her forward into a tree. Shikamaru quickly came out of hiding, grabbed the large man and his arm and quickly retreated making sure they were hidden. "Oh hunny, you are just really making me hate you. I'm going to have more fun killing you then Zabby-kun" Guren yelled out as she finally stood up, trying to locate the two ninja.
Shikamaru carefully put a tourniquet on Zabuza before wrapping a bandage over his arm from where it got severed. "I might not know iroy-ninjutsu, but even I can do basic first aid. We Nara's are used to caring for animals so be grateful I'm here" Shikamaru said before sealing the man's arm into a scroll. He hoped Tsunade could do more for the man, "We need to get out of here you can't win this" Shikamaru said.
"You're wrong kid, if I can outlast here just a little longer I'll win. She said she just mastered that ability which means she probably hasn't used it much. Which means she probably just learned it and has no real mastery over the technique, her reserves will empty fast and then she'll be done for." Zabuza said to the boy, Shikamaru hated to admit it but the man was right, plus he wasn't sure if they could run away. She was now personal about this fight meaning she would follow.
"How can I help" Shikamaru asked, he had to help now or they would both die.
"She's overly cocky, but that's because she's strong and can back it up. She doesn't rely on hr crystals to much, either it takes a lot out of her or she gets more pleasure from taijutsu, whatever it is we can use it to our advantage. Next opportunity you get you need to use that shadow possession jutsu of yours again. Put as much chakra as you can into it to hold her, and she won't be a problem anymore" Zabuza said.
"You two are talking to loudly" Guren said, no more joy in her voice. She quickly thrusted forward with her crystal arm stabbing Shikamaru through his leg, the boy screamed out in pain as he fell to the ground. With her other arm holding a crystal sword she thrusted into Zabuza's stomach, the man coughed up blood as he bent over. "God this shit with you two was taking to long. Finally I can have my fun with you guys," Guren said with a smile before removing her sword from Zabuza's stomach and licking the blood off of it all while keeping eye contact with the man.
Zabuza tried to speak, but Guren stopped him when she thrusted her hand inside him, discarding her sword just to torment the man. Zabuza's scream of pain were so loud that miles away Akamaru was whining in Kiba's coat. "Hell no, I'm going to make this last you don't get to speak just scream as I hurt you, I hope you're watching pretty boy because you're next" Guren said as Shikamaru was trying to stay conscious, he lost a lot of blood fast when she cut into him, luckily she didn't hit his femoral, but she still managed to hurt him bad. She tore through his leg like it was nothing. Shikamaru watched in horror as Guren shoved her arm into Zabuza's gut and pulled out his kidney.
"Oh ho, isn't this a pretty thing here, I wonder how it taste" She said before biting into it, Zabuza would have lost consciousness, but each time Guren touched him, the pain would shoot through his body keeping him awake. Shikamaru couldn't help but puke when he saw the woman eat the swordsman internal organ. Not just a bite, but the entire goddamn organ. Shikamaru tried to think of what he could do in this situation, but he knew that if he moved the girl would kill him. Than again if he did nothing she would still kill him.
Shikamaru mustered all the courage he had while Guren shoved her hand into Zabuza's gut again and forced his body to listen to his will. He very carefully made the hand signs needed for his most infamous technique, and the second Guren's hand left Zabuza's stomach he casted it. "Boy you are so dead" Guren said, but then she realized she couldn't break the technique, she quickly felt her chakra leaving her body. Guren widened her eyes in horror as she realized what was happening.
"Just like I" Zabuza coughed up blood, "Said, she didn't master it" Zabuza said with a chuckle as he lay on the ground trying to stay awake. "Your chakra is gone girl, this is your end" Zabuza picked up her crystal sword and stabbed the girl in the throat. When Shikamaru saw the sword go through the other side of the girls neck he ended his jutsu, watching as the girl fell to the ground choking on her own blood, before she finally died. "Oh fuck" Zabuza coughed up more blood as he put his hand over his stomach trying to stop the bleeding.
"Shit, Zabuza you can't die here, this isn't the time!" Shikamaru said as he moved his body next to the grown man. He was seriously messed up, and he had lost a lot of blood, this wasn't good he didn't know what he could do to help, he couldn't carry the mam, hell he couldn't carry himself.
"Don't worry I got him, hopefully he'll make it, you just get some rest you did good Shikamaru" a man landed next to the two.
Shikamaru smiled, "Oh thank god you're here, Naruto went that way" Shikamaru said as he pointed onwards, the man just nodded.
"Alright no problem" The man cracked his knuckles, "Shadow clone jutsu" he made two clones who carefully picked up the two, "I'll go get him back."
"Be careful please Sensei" Shikamaru said, Asuma just took a deep puff of his cigarette before discarding the butt. He exhaled and left not saying another word.
