I'm loving the support! You guys are awesome! I have good news, we're finally getting some FNAF this chapter in this FNAF story! :D

Upon finally reaching the other end of the vent, Mirabelle slid to the ground with a sigh of relief. She really hoped that there wouldn't be any more surprises, but she also wasn't about to hold her breath.

What she discovered was a concrete room that appeared to be contained inside a larger room. It had a hall-like path that just wound it's way around, leading to several other doors that appeared to head out to, who knows where? She assumed one of them would take her to that Prize Counter Freddy mentioned, and then ultimately, to freedom!

Except, when she tried the doors, none of the them would open. The badge she had was apparently still insufficient clearance. She groaned before lifting the watch to her mouth.

"Freddy, I can't open any of these doors for you. None of them will budge!" she wailed into it.

"Check the security office. There should be a badge that will offer a higher level of clearance," he suggested.

"Alright," she sighed, stepping into the fortified room.

It had a desk full of monitors and two open doorways on either side of it. She glanced around a bit before spotting what she'd been afraid to find. Hanging on the back wall, just like the previous one had been, rested a metal case labeled: Security Badges.

"Freddy, I don't like this. . ." she trailed.

"What is wrong?" he wondered.

"There's another lock box where the badges are. If I pop this thing open, won't the whole place go haywire again?" she asked warily.

"Do not worry, there is nothing else in there that should be able to get to you. I am making my way over there now and will be along soon," he assured her.

"Fine, let's just, get this over with," she muttered, and with a cringe, broke open the lock box.

As expected, a siren immediately began blaring, and the doors surrounding her suddenly slammed shut!

"Emergency lockdown activated. This area is off-limits to guests," a computerized voice announced.

"Freddy! This siren is going to draw everything right to me! How am I supposed to get out if it's locked down!" she protested.

"Yes, the office is locked, but that just means nothing should be able to get in or out. I can deactivate the alarm, but it will take some time. Hang tight, and you'll be able to exit soon," he informed her.

Well, I guess this won't be so bad, she decided, flopping down in the office chair to wait. The constantly honking alarm was going to get annoying, but she supposed that it was a small price to pay compared to –

"Don't be scared," the sudden voice coming from just outside the room made Mirabelle's blood run cold. "I can help," it continued, a bit louder this time. Until she finally turned to find none other than Roxanne the Wolf herself, staring in through the window with a sinister sneer.

"Um, F-Freddy?" she questioned fearfully into the mic.

"Yes?" he replied.

"Remember when you said nothing could get in or out during a lockdown?" she repeated.

"Yes, why are you –?" he began, but Mirabelle did not wait for him to finish!

"Well, you might wanna hurry, because ROXY'S LOCKED IN WITH ME!" she screeched into the mic of the watch.

Almost as if on cue, the animatronic wolf began slamming her fists against the door.

"W-What?!" he exclaimed in concern. "Is she in the office, or –?" he tried to ask.

"She's right outside the door!" Mirabelle cried.

"I know you're in there. You can't hide forever," the wolf bot taunted.

"Do not panic. You should be safe in the security office, as long as the doors remain closed. Which they will, as long as there is ample power," he told her.

"The door power isn't going to last long with her pounding on it like that!" she protested.

"What about –" he was cut off before he could finish by another loud slam coming from the opposite door. "What was that?" he asked.

Mirabelle jumped, before dashing over to stare out the opposite window. A large, green reptilian animatronic was currently glaring at the sealed entrance.

"Now Monty too? Are you kidding me!? How did they even get in here?!" she demanded.

"I am not sure. That should not be possible," Freddy less-than-helpfully offered.

"Well, that's just fricken fantastic!" she exclaimed.

"It is?" she heard Freddy question out of the watch.

"It's called sarcasm, Freddy!" she snapped in irritation.

"Sarcasm. . ." There was a pause and a whirring sound, almost like gears turning. "A form of speech in which you do not literally mean what you say, but instead means the opposite in a humorous way to mock or convey contempt," he seemed to quote as though he pulled the words directly out of a dictionary, which he probably did.

"This is no time for an English lesson!" she lectured temperamentally.

"Is this another example of your coping?" he guessed.

"This is me trying not to completely freak out right now!" she hollered back, then heard him hum pensively.

"See if you can distract them with something so they'll move away from the doors. Then you can open them to help conserve power. You should be able to keep track of them on the monitors. You only need to hold them off for a few minutes. I'll be there soon," he assured her.

All of this was starting to sound so familiar that Mirabelle couldn't help but be impressed by the ridiculousness of it! Door power, monitors, a time limit, psycho animatronics. Yep, the situation seemed to be checking off all the boxes. It was like someone had deliberately dropped her right in the middle of the game!

"What is this? Some kinda Saw trap?! Who designs an office like this!?" she barked, glaring at the screens in front of her.

"Hey kid, come on out. We're only trying to help," Monty taunted to one side of her.

"Yeah, like hell you are," Mirabelle muttered under her breath.

"Back off! I'm going to get her first!" Roxy retorted, almost sounding like she was issuing a challenge.

At hearing this, Mirabelle suddenly found her panicked brain starting to form an idea. She could do this, right? After all, she'd had plenty of practice.

"Okay, you guys wanna play? Then let's play!" she declared, fixing the monitors with a determined smirk.

~~~Game On!~~~
Her first move was to wave her arms around, getting Roxy's attention. The wolf stopped slamming her fists into the door and peered in the window at her. Mirabelle promptly backed her way right up against the other door, before sticking out her tongue in a provoking manner and motioning towards the button, suggesting that she was going to let Monty in.
Roxy did not seem pleased with that idea and glared at the girl before abandoning her possible entrance to take advantage of the other. Mirabelle was hoping this would be the case, since it seemed her competitive nature was driving her to try and get to the human first. She watched as she dashed around the room, waiting until she showed up on the same screen as Monty.
Now that they seemed to be distracted with arguing over the same door. Mirabelle sprinted past the desk to the opposite side, snatching up a conveniently placed mug that read: World's Best Dad, on her way, before hitting the button to open the now vacated entrance.
She waited with bated breath until she heard the fighting stop and the pounding resume. Now the other door's power was beginning to rapidly drain. So, she ducked out the doorway for a brief moment to hurl the ceramic mug at the wall near one of the corners of the room. It shattered into a thousand tiny pieces when it hit, making a loud crash. Whoever's dad that was, was just going to have to forgive her.
With immense satisfaction, Mirabelle listened as the pounding halted again. She peeked up at the monitors to see them both making their way around the hall, stopping at the corner to investigate the noise. Once they were far enough away, she then ran over to hit the other button. With both shields raised, she then focused her attention on the monitors, watching them closely before deciding on what her next step should be depending on which direction they went.
Unfortunately, they didn't get distracted for long. Roxy noticed the open door and bolted for it, but Mirabelle was ready for her, slamming it shut in her face. She roared with rage, began slamming her fists into it, and the cycle started again.
Mirabelle managed to keep them at bay for a while, but her door power was starting to get dangerously low. She shut the one on the right for what was probably the last time before clicking the call button on her watch.
"Freddy! I need an ETA!" she yelled into it.
"I am at the security door. I just need thirty more seconds to disable the lockdown," he told her.
"I don't think I have that long!" she called frantically.
True to her word, a couple seconds later, and the door behind her slid open to reveal Roxy's now triumphant expression. Mirabelle leapt away, fixing her with a wary eye as she inched backwards towards the left door.
"I told you there was no running from me," Roxy hissed as she slowly stalked closer, like a true predator.
Mirabelle chanced a glance at the power reading on the wall near her. Any second now. Three. . . two. . .
"I've got you now!" Roxy shouted and lunged!
At that same moment, the left hand door suddenly sprang open from lack of power, and in charged Monty! He was so eager to be allowed access, that he wasn't really paying attention to what was in front of him. Mirabelle instantly dove out of the way, watching with nervous anticipation as the two carnivores attempted to rear back, but it was already too late.
They both let out howls of surprise before comically colliding into each other! Seemingly stunned for the moment, they took turns sliding to the floor in a heap.
"Ooo! That's gotta hurt!" Mirabelle joked out in spite of herself.
The sound of Freddy finally bursting into the room tore Mirabelle's eyes away from the pair.
"Mirabelle! I have successfully disabled the lockdown! Are you. . .!" he trailed off at the sight of his friends sprawled out on top of one another. "What did you –" he tried to ask, but she didn't give him the chance.
"No time! We have to go, now!" she ordered, grasping hold of his hand and yanking him towards the exit door.
Recovering quickly, Roxy began to push herself up off the floor, staring after the retreating figures and baring her fangs with a menacing growl. She managed to make it to the exit right after Mirabelle pulled Freddy through.
"You can't win! I am the bes –!" she exclaimed, but Mirabelle slammed the door in her face, smashing her nose in the process!
The wolf bot stumbled back a bit, holding the damaged area, but then leveled a glare at the door. Roxy grumbled and attempted to blast her way through it. Anticipating this, however, Mirabelle proceeded to smash her hand through the small window located near the top. This sent the alarms blaring in the office once again.
"Emergency lockdown activated," they heard the prerecorded voice sound off. Roxy tried the door, but it was no use. They were locked in again!
Roxy screamed with absolute fury and attempted to claw at Mirabelle through the shattered window, but of course she was well out of reach. To add insult to injury, the girl was also giving her a wicked smirk.
"You won't get away with this! I'll get out, and then I'll find you!" she screeched, but Mirabelle simply gave her a little wave before sauntering off, Freddy in tow.
"I do not think I have ever seen Roxy so angry. What happened in there?" Freddy wondered, as they finally entered into the Prize Counter area.
"Oh, she's just mad that I beat her at her own game," Mirabelle boasted smugly.
"What game?" Freddy wondered, his innocent tone telling Mirabelle that he was serious.
"It's a metaphor. I think. . ." she trailed for a moment as she considered the implications. "Anyway, the point is, she tried to get me, but she failed, and now she's super pissed off," she summarized for him.
"I am glad to hear that she failed. You handled yourself very well in there. I am proud of you," he suddenly praised, before she felt a large, metallic hand rest itself on top of her head.
Mirabelle turned to look up at him in surprise to find him fixing her with such a warm, sincere smile that she couldn't help but feel embarrassed. She dropped her gaze to the ground in an attempt to hide her reddening face.
"It – it wasn't that big of a deal," she mumbled, but that only seemed to encourage him, as he began rubbing his hand over her hair.
"It would have been, if something had happened to you, but I am glad that you are safe," he stressed.
Mirabelle felt her eyelids drooping and her mind going blank from the contact. However, realizing what was happening, she quickly snapped herself back to reality. Now was not the time to be acting all sappy. Not when she was so close to finally getting out of here!
She stepped to the side, trying to casually shrug him off of her.
"A-anyway," she coughed, awkwardly clearing her throat. "You said that there might be a Fire Escape in this area?" she reminded him.
"O-oh, of course. I can show you where it is. Follow me," he told her, heading away.
Mirabelle skirted after him. Although, for some reason, she was getting the impression that he seemed, a bit gloomy, as he led her down the hall.
They made their way around and into a room that looked to be some kind of employee lounge. Also, true to his word, there was a bright, red double door that was labeled: Emergency Exit. Mirabelle dashed to it as soon as it came into view.
"So, this is it? I'll be able to leave through here?" It was really more of a statement than a question, an excited statement.
"Yes. This door will lead you to the outside," Freddy confirmed glumly. Mirabelle turned, and was about to push it open and embrace her freedom, but he continued before she could, giving her pause. "Will you – come back to visit?" he wondered at her hopefully.
"Are you crazy?! After all this, I'm never gonna –!" she stopped short when she turned to see Freddy fixing her with one of the most forlorn looks she'd ever seen!
Mirabelle felt her throat tighten and her chest begin to ache. What on earth was she supposed to do with that?! She really didn't want to hurt him, but – was there any possible way that she could make him understand? She supposed she could try.
"Freddy, I. . ." she paused as she searched for the right words, gripping the bar of the exit as she leaned against it. "It's not that I don't want to. It's just –" Mirabelle never got a chance to finish.
She didn't realize that she'd been pressing on the handle that hard, but all of a sudden, it gave way, smacking up against the metal door. However, instead of swinging open like she'd expected, this is what they heard:
"Error – VIP access only."
Mirabelle froze, a look of utter disbelief plastered across her face. She slowly turned to stare at the fully depressed handle still clutched in her hand.
"Did it just. . ." she trailed, not wanting to accept that there was any way that they could possibly be this asinine! She lifted the bar and pushed it back down again.
"Error – VIP access only." It repeated.
"It would seem that there is no way to open this door unless you have VIP credentials. It is not a very good emergency system. We are lucky there is not a fire. I will go ahead and lodge a formal complaint," Freddy suddenly chimed in from behind her.
Mirabelle felt every muscle in her body clench with absolute fury! And yet, she still managed to slowly and calmly turn towards the robot bear with an unsettling smile.
"We're lucky there's not a fire?" she questioned dangerously.
Freddy wasn't completely sure what was happening, but he could at least sense that there was something wrong with this situation. He gave her a wary look before taking a hesitant step back. It was probably for the best that he did, because a moment later, and Mirabelle completely erupted!
"A fire!? Are you freaking kidding me!?" she roared. "You're lucky I don't have a sledge hammer!" she yelled at him, before turning to unleash an epic temper tantrum against the poor door!
"Of all the stupid –! I have never heard of something so idiotic! I swear, if I ever find the bastard who designed this place, I'm gonna –!" She was hollering and slamming her foot repeatedly against the crash bar. The door recording repeating, "Error. Error. Error," over and over again. Nothing budged though. The exit was sealed tight.
"Mira! Wait! You're going to –" Freddy didn't get a chance to finish before the enraged girl finally kicked the crash bar clean off it's hinges. It clattered to the ground. She stood, huffing and puffing for a minute before hearing Freddy from behind her again.
"Feel better?" he wondered.
Mirabelle rounded on him, fuming at the sly smirk she found him sporting.
"This entire place is just a massive death trap!" she ranted, but then suddenly considered something. "I swear, if you've got anything to do with this –!" she accused, thrusting a finger at what was supposed to be her way out.
"Mira, I would never!" he argued, throwing his hands up in defense. "While, yes, I was feeling a bit sad to see you go. I would not ever force you to stay in a place so dangerous. I thought you trusted me?" he insisted, sounding a bit hurt.
"I –" He made a good point. If he really cared about what happened to her, like he seemed to, then keeping her here against her will didn't make much sense. "You're right. I'm sorry," she told him, calming down considerably.
"It's just, this whole night has been so nuts, you know? It can't just be a coincidence that –"
The distinctive sound of an elevator grinding brought Mirabelle's musings to a screeching halt. The hair on the back of her neck rose at the noise from the doors opening and closing. Realizing that there was no other way out of this area, Mirabelle grabbed ahold of Freddy once again, pulling him over and down behind one of the large desks.
"We gotta hide!" she urgently whispered as she did so.
Mirabelle was practically holding her breath as she listened intently to the footsteps drawing closer. Unfortunately, that wasn't their only problem.
"Mira," Freddy called softly.
She whipped her head around to find him not looking so great. Not realizing what was happening at first, she scooted closer and placed a hand on his arm, her searching eyes full of concern.
"M-my battery is – running low. . ." he trailed, the light in his eyes fading.
"Ugh! Great!" she silently growled, wracking her brain for an idea to get them out of this latest debacle! She could only come up with one option.
"I'll go out there and try to lead them away. As soon as the coast is clear, get yourself to a recharge station," she instructed, but he reached out to grab her before she could crawl off.
"But, Mira. . ." he attempted to protest. She shook her head at him.
"There isn't time! You want me to trust you? Well, it works both ways. Now, I'm going to need you to trust me, okay? I'll find someplace safe to hang out after I lose whoever this is. Call me on the Fazwatch once you've got your energy back," she told him.
He nodded that he understood, and he finally, albeit reluctantly, let her go.
Mirabelle carefully crept around the edge of the desk, trying her hardest to make as little noise as possible. She managed to peek out just in time to see the blonde security guard stalk around the corner of the room, shining a flashlight in all directions as she went.
If she could just make it to the elevator, Mirabelle realized that the guard chick would hear it like they had, and most definitely follow her down. No problem, she'd just sneak the same way the lady had gone and keep her position trailing behind.
After a minute of the careful creeping, Mirabelle managed to make it to the lift, hitting the button and quickly stepping inside. Success! Or, so she thought. After all, this was working out to be a perfect plan. Once she landed at the lower floor, she'd duck into a hiding spot and radio up to Freddy that he was good to go. Except, there was one small thing Mirabelle hadn't expected. . . A pair of crude, metal hands suddenly shot themselves in between the elevator doors, forcing it back open!
"Free Map! Free Map!" The stupid robot was abruptly shouting in her face!
Mirabelle didn't even get a chance to react before she heard an aggressive sounding, "Move!" bark out from behind it. The Map bot was then violently shoved out of the way, immediately getting replaced by the very unamused expression of the security guard, just as the doors finished closing behind them!
"Gotcha!"
;P Until the next time, Bye Bye!
