I'm sorry everyone for that super mean cliffhanger. On the bright side, at long last, here it is! The moment you've all been waiting for - the final confrontation! Don't be shy to let me know what you think, as long as the criticism is, constructive, please. Anyway, without further ado!
"This –" Mirabelle swallowed hard, feeling a bit nauseous. "This is the costume. The one that first grabbed me, and that's been hunting me all night! That means –!" she whirled around, looking for any sign of her kidnapper.
However, all she saw was Freddy carefully helping Vanessa down into the room. They moved over to join her, wanting to get a look at what she'd found.
"Yep, that's the costume I saw dragging you off earlier, alright," Vanessa confirmed. "Question is, where is it's owner?" she asked suspiciously, slowly turning as she cautiously studied their surroundings.
Freddy narrowed his eyes at the unsettling smile stitched across the front of the mask, before his gaze wandered to the nervous girl next to him. He was growing weary of this constant, looming dread causing all this continual distress for her. It was way past time for the nightmare to finally end!
"Whoever is behind all this, they cannot stay hidden for much longer," he decided with determination.
That was when Mirabelle lifted her head, and she suddenly noticed the animatronic recharging station curiously situated in the far corner of the room. She realized that she'd gotten so used to seeing them scattered around the Pizzaplex, that it hadn't occurred to her how out-of-place it was down here. Was it supposed to be for the stolen S.T.A.F.F. bots? Although, she had a hard time believing that one station would be sufficient for the dozens that Vanessa claimed had disappeared.
With what she could only attribute to a morbid sense of curiosity, Mirabelle suddenly felt the urge to check the porthole and see if there was anything inside. A decision which she would come to regret!
Wandering over and propping herself up on her toes, she peeked in through the dirty window, and instantly recoiled at what she saw! She let out a horrified cry, as the image of what appeared to be a burned and mummified corpse, covered in an amalgamation of robot parts in various stages of decay, met her vision. The others immediately rushed over to find out what was wrong.
"Oh my gawd!" Vanessa exclaimed in surprise. "It – it can't be!" she huffed with a head shake.
"It can't be, what?" Mirabelle was almost afraid to ask!
"Well, you've heard, right? It talks about it in the games. The stories, about the original owner of Fazbear's, and what – happened to him?" Vanessa suggested darkly, leadingly.
"The original, owner? But, what does that have to do with. . ." Freddy trailed, cringing down at the mess currently slumped over in the charging tube.
"Wait! Wait a minute! You're shitting me, right? You're not saying – that Afton is real? That Springtrap is real!?" Mirabelle exclaimed in surprise, taking a hesitant step back.
"Well, what's left of him, anyway. Looks more like 'Scraptrap' to me," Vanessa joked, possibly in an attempt to ease the tension.
"Yeah, you-you're right about that. He does look pretty pieced together. I, can't help but wonder, where did he get those, newer-looking parts?" Mirabelle inquired, just a tad shakily.
Freddy froze at the words – realization dawning on him as he slowly began to recognize the bright, indigo extensions that covered the mangled half-bot in various locations. The parts appeared heavily damaged, but the Glamrock designs on them, unmistakable.
"Bonnie. . .?" Freddy drew out the question in shock.
"What?!" Vanessa exclaimed in horror at the implications. "Freddy, are you –?" but she didn't get a chance to finish.
A sudden, horrible screeching of metal on metal caused them all to jump and flip towards the charging station in surprise, as the door slowly grated it's way open. An ominous, purple glow came flooding out of the chamber, along with wafts of billowing smoke. A gnarled hand reached out to scratch along the frame, before pulling out the hideous mass of decaying rabbit pieces.
Freddy instinctively stomped in front of the girls, putting himself between them and this – creature. It was currently fixing them with a twisted, yet disturbingly human-like, grin. No one moved for a moment, until the freak-show finally spread it's arms wide, and addressed them in a deep, raspy voice.
"Evening, everyone. It has been some time since I have entertained – guests," he wheezed out.
"You – you're the reason for all the trouble that's been happening lately, aren't you!?" Vanessa accused rhetorically, sounding much braver than Mirabelle was feeling right now! She couldn't help but be a touch impressed by her resolve.
"What – did you do – to Bonnie?" Freddy growled slowly, dangerously. It made Mirabelle stare up at him in surprise. She didn't know that he was capable of sounding so scary!
"Ah, Freddy Fazbear. It has been too long, hasn't it? You're new design is certainly, fresh," the demonic rabbit hissed at him.
"Answer the question!" Freddy demanded, not sounding in any kind of humor to entertain his banter.
"Very well, I suppose I can spare you an explanation, and perhaps, even an, apology," he shockingly complied.
"You see, I've always held a certain, kinship, with the animatronic rabbit. Ever since my original design, it was like, a – reflection, of my own soul. You were always the friendly one, but Bonnie, he was always secretly crafty, the cunning one. The most dangerous while being deceptively, cute," he paused for a moment, taking a deep breath as though collecting his thoughts. It was strange to see that, considering he seemed to be mostly machine at this point.
"So, when I ordered the one you call, Montgomery – to bring this new version of the bunny to me, you can imagine my, disappointment at the state he was in. This," the Franken-bot indicated the added parts. "Was all I managed to salvage. A truly unfortunate outcome. Although, I must commend whoever designed that new gator friend of yours. Once under my influence, he became even more violent than Foxy!" he seemed to boast proudly.
Freddy roared before lunging at the decaying threat, taking him by the throat.
"You are a monster! I am going to enjoy taking you apart!" he threatened darkly. The Afton remains simply grinned back at him.
"Not - so - fast," he warned smugly.
Right before a veritable legion of S.T.A.F.F. bots suddenly swarmed into the room, all disfigured with a horrifying new design. They crowded around the girls, who attempted to scoot away by moving closer towards each other. Witnessing this gave Freddy pause, causing him to reluctantly loosen his grip on his adversary, if only slightly.
"You've been quite the thorn in my side throughout all this, resisting my virus and undermining my plans. Even so, I feel that I must thank you," The Frankentrap told him. Freddy just glared at him in confusion. "Because you see, despite all your attempts to – as you kept saying, 'protect' her – you still ended up bringing my prize right to me!" Shifting his psychotic gaze, the spectators in the room all found that it had suddenly fallen on – Mirabelle!
"Mira?" Freddy asked, turning to fix her with a look of concern.
The girl in question felt her veins absolutely freeze under this monster's stare! What on earth could he possibly want from her? Unless – she found herself glancing down at her exposed, prosthetic arms.
"That's right – Mira," he stressed her name. "I've grown weary of only existing in shadows, barely surviving on what scraps I can manage to get ahold of. I had considered simply transferring into a new animatronic, and even tried so with Bonnie. However, despite Bonnie being brought to me in an unusable state, I eventually realized, to what end? The animatronics here are designed in such a way that even if I were to be able to roam the Pizzaplex freely, I would only be trading one prison for another," he explained.
"I want true freedom! And for that, I need a new, assemblage – a young, strong one that I am able to fully control! One that appears human, so that I may rejoin society without harassment, but also not human, so I can continue to live for all eternity! To be blunt, my dear. I - Want - You!" he declared with a sinister smirk.
"B-but," Mirabelle managed to stutter, still not fully grasping how any of this could be possible. "Even if you could take over my mind, I'm not immortal. I'm only half bionic!" she desperately tried to protest while glancing around at the army of corrupted S.T.A.F.F. bots, and pushing herself right up against Vanessa in her genuine fear.
"Oh, I have no interest in your fleshy bits. It's only your cybernetics that I want. Such incredible technology! I was amazed by your construction as soon as you first entered the complex! Who would have thought a creature as incredible as you could exist!? It is so far beyond anything animatronic tech has achieved!" he praised.
"But, I had to be sure. And I am pleased to say, you managed to deal with every trial I threw at you, with flying colors! Of course, you had a – bit, of help," he stressed, glancing back up at the robot bear, who still had him in his claws. "But your capabilities still managed to shine through. Very well done! I am, most impressed!"
Mirabelle supposed that her perceptions about the Pizzaplex somehow testing her, weren't as far off as she thought!
"You, my dear, are the next step in human evolution, and I will make it mine!" he continued a moment later. "I'll simply have to scoop out the parts of you I don't need, before I assimilate myself with your prosthetics. After all – I've done it before," he confessed, in the most disturbing description Mirabelle had ever heard!
"You'll have to go through me first!" Freddy barked in response.
"Over my dead body!" Vanessa seemed to agree at almost the same time, clutching the girl tightly to her, while eyeing the other bots around them warily.
"Well, if you both insist." Frankentrap suddenly snapped his arm out, this time taking Freddy by the throat, and by surprise!
A surge of electrical energy instantly shot out of the mad rabbit's arm and began to make it's way into the animatronic bear. Freddy started convulsing violently in response, grunting as though he were in pain. Maybe he was, who was to say at this point?
"Freddy!" Mirabelle screamed in terror, and tried to dash over to him, but she was halted by a wall of evil S.T.A.F.F bots.
"You're not going to be able to resist my virus this time! Not at this proximity!" Frankentrap shouted at the bear, and a moment later, released him just as quickly.
Freddy glitched around for a moment, arcs of heinous, purple electricity sparking through him. Until he finally bent over in a hunch, not moving.
"Freddy?" Mirabelle questioned carefully. "What did you do to him?! Freddy!" she then demanded of Frankentrap when her friend didn't respond.
"I simply, helped him see things my way," he offered cryptically.
Slowly, Freddy turned to gaze at the two ladies behind him. His eyes were now glowing a noticeably dark purple, instead of their usual blue. And Mirabelle felt like she'd just been punched in the stomach!
"Freddy! No!" she tried calling for him again. "Fight back! Don't let him control you!" she practically begged.
"This is bad! I don't think he can hear you. He looks pretty far gone," Vanessa warned, pulling on Mirabelle's arm as she was slowly trying to back them away from the new threat.
"She is correct, girl! Freddy, bring the guard woman over to me!" Frankentrap ordered.
Freddy instantly obeyed. Marching over to grab Vanessa and pull her over towards the insane rabbit bot. She, of course, attempted to struggle, but it was no use. The animatronic bear was way too strong, keeping both her arms locked behind her back.
"Let go of me you overgrown tin can!" Vanessa snapped, but the bear was unmoved.
Meanwhile, Mirabelle still stood in the middle of the ring of S.T.A.F.F. bots, feeling like she was going to break down at any moment. This could not get any worse! It looked like it was all over!
"Now then, we can do this one of two ways. If you surrender now, I will let this nice officer, as well as your friends still above, go without any harm. However, if you resist, I will make sure they all die slow, and painful deaths! I would personally prefer we settle this with as little violence as possible. I do not want my new bionic parts to sustain any unnecessary damage," he explained his dark offer to her.
"You're lying! What makes you think I'll believe you're just going to – let everyone else go? Not when they know about all this. . ." she reasoned, doing everything she could to keep herself together.
"Because you are the only one I'm interested in, and even if they do talk, no one is going to believe them. I'm sure of it. Therefore, I trust that you will make the right decision. Freddy agrees with me now too, doesn't he?" Frankentrap hinted, waiting for his new bear lackey to respond.
"Yes. Give up peacefully, Mirabelle. I would prefer not to hurt Officer Vanessa," Freddy stated in a monotone.
Mirabelle felt herself beginning to lose all sense at his emotionless voice! She wanted to scream at him! Tell him so much for all his stupid promises! However, before she could, something strange happened. One of Freddy's eyes, the one furthest away from Frankentrap, suddenly closed in her direction – just the one. . .
Taking a deep, resigning breath, Mirabelle calmly turned back to the very smug-looking robo-rabbit.
"Fine, you can have me, but first, let Vanessa go," she demanded with a hard look.
"Mira, no! You can't!" the blonde argued back.
"I'm sorry, Vanessa – but, I think this is the only way," Mirabelle dejectedly dropped her gaze to the floor.
"Ah! I am pleased to hear that you can be reasonable. I have no further use for the guard then. Freddy, you may release her," Frankentrap instructed, and Freddy instantly let her go.
Once she felt him let go of her, Vanessa took several large steps back, but didn't attempt to leave. She just continued to stare at Mirabelle with a look of dread.
"Now, my dear. Come to me, and we shall soon be one," Frankentrap declared, extending his arms out to her in triumph.
What he wasn't expecting, however, was for Freddy to suddenly snap around and grab hold of him, once again clutching him by the throat!
"The only one getting scooped today, is you!" Freddy shouted in his face, before plunging his hand into the middle of the monster rabbit and ripping out a good portion of his insides!
"What? How? That's – impossible!" Frankentrap managed to wheeze out.
"Nothing is impossible as long as I have the power to shape my own destiny! Your virus will never be able to take that away! That was for Mira!" He indicated the assortment of parts still clutched in his hand. "And this, is for Bonnie!" Freddy roared in his face, before shoving the disemboweled psychopath back into the chamber and slamming the door shut!
He wrenched the sides of it together for good measure before causing a surge that engulfed the entire container in flames. Frankentrap's desperate screams could barely be heard from the other side of the muffled charge station.
Meanwhile, during that same moment, Mirabelle seemed to snap out of her defeated trance, and lifted her Fazwatch to her mouth.
"Mikey, NOW!" she shouted into it.
A second later, and every S.T.A.F.F. bot in the room began to short out, their heads spinning around almost comically as their systems all simultaneously went into an overload! One by one, they began exploding!
Acting quickly, both Mirabelle and Freddy dashed out of the blast radius, pulling a very confused and stymied Vanessa along with them.
"Wait! What?! Will someone please explain to me what the hell just happened?!" she demanded of them.
"I'll tell you later, just know that –" Mirabelle didn't get to finish her comment.
She was suddenly interrupted by a loud crash, and the ground beneath them began rumbling and shaking violently. Dirt and debris was raining down in various places around them, and they all seemed to come to the same terrifying realization at once. The cavern was collapsing!
"We need to get out of here, now!" Vanessa shouted, bolting towards the only remaining opening. She didn't need to tell them twice, Mirabelle and Freddy sprinting right on her heels!
It was growing increasingly difficult to keep up the run, as the supports weren't holding and they had to keep stepping over and skirting around the piles of garbage pouring in. Mirabelle began to worry that they might not make it. Until finally, there it was – a literal light at the end of the tunnel. This was it, they were almost out!
But then, *BOOM*!
A noise that sounded almost like a kiloton blast rocked the entire cave, throwing them all off their feet. Mirabelle tried to recover quickly, but it wasn't fast enough. There were more crashing sounds, and she glanced up to find a giant piece of sheet metal heading straight for her. All she had time for now was to cover her head, and pray that it would be over quickly.
The sound of the tunnel's weight could be heard piling above her!
But – strangely – she didn't feel anything.
Once things had settled a bit, she glanced up to find out why. And discovered, to her amazement, that Freddy had placed himself between her and the sheet metal. Holding it above his head with both hands, single-handedly keeping the tunnel from completely collapsing!
However, there was no time to celebrate, because an instant later, and a literal avalanche of garbage continued to pile above Freddy! He grunted with exertion as the weight forced him down to one knee.
Mirabelle felt the panic rising in her chest as she suddenly realized what was happening! She rapidly scrambled to her feet, thinking that maybe she could help him hold up the tunnel, but it seemed that Freddy had other plans.
"Mira! Go!" he yelled at her, his joints bending and sparking as they began to give out under the strain.
"But, what about you? Come on! If we hurry, we can make it!" she tried to tell him.
However, instead of trying to make a move, Freddy just stared at her with a sad smile and shook his head.
"Not this time, princess. If I try and move –" he let out another groan as the ever growing pile creaked dangerously above them. "The tunnel will collapse on us both," he informed her stoically.
"No! There has to be something we can do! I'm not just going to leave you here!" she protested, frantically glancing around to try and find something, anything, that could get them out of this mess!
"There's – no time. I don't know – how much longer – I can hold it." He sunk down another inch under the pressure, the sparks flying more violently. "Please – you have to go – now!" he ordered.
"But, this – this can't be, it! We didn't – I, I mean – I never got to tell you. . ." she trailed off, sinking to her knees as her eyes began to burn.
"It's alright, Mira. I know," he told her softly. "But I promised that I would keep you safe, and I mean to fulfill that promise, no matter what," he assured her.
Mira was full on crying now as she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, for one, final hug. She wished that they had more time. If only there was more time!
"I love you, Freddy," she told him through her tears.
Freddy felt his servos warm at the words, from his feet all the way up to his ears. At that moment, he knew he couldn't have wished for anything more.
"I love you, too," he answered, cradling her head with his. "But now, it is time to say, goodbye," he encouraged solemnly, using the covers on his chest cavity to push her away from him.
"You are my – Superstar!" he told her.
Right before he rotated a leg up and delivered a hard kick to her midsection, effectively sending her flying out of the tunnel and into the safety of the room beyond.
"Mira! What the hell do you think you're doing?! Get out of the way before –"
Vanessa didn't have time to finish before the tunnel completely collapsed! Burying the unfortunate animatronic, and all of Afton's devious machinations, under literal metric tons of garbage!
The security guard jerked Mirabelle back to get her out of the way of the cascading debris. Meanwhile, Mirabelle barely had time to register what was happening before it was all over.
"No, Freddy! Freddy!" she screamed, reaching for where the opening to the cave had once been.
As soon as everything had settled, she wrestled away from Vanessa's grip and ran back over to the massive pile, frantically attempting to dig through it!
"Freddy! Freddy!" she continued shouting, while flinging trash to either side of her.
"Mira! Mira stop!" Vanessa ordered, stalking over to her and grabbing her shoulder to get her attention. "I'm sorry, but he's – he's gone," she told her, gently but firmly.
"No, no, no!" Mirabelle cried, collapsing to her knees.
She then slammed her fists into the ground, creating a small pair of craters, before hunching over and sobbing into the concrete. Vanessa just watched, unsure of what else she could do.
They didn't have to wait there for long, however. Because a moment later, a commotion down the hall caught her attention before a full on SWAT team poured into the room, followed by Mirabelle's friends.
There was shouting and demands for explanations. Strong arms lifting Mirabelle off the ground and frantic questions about their well being. Vanessa doing her best to explain and letting her friends know about Freddy's demise. Apologies and comforting words then followed. However, Mirabelle felt numb to all of it. It seemed to all be happening in a muffled blur.
Before she knew it, she was being led out of the main doors where her parents were waiting. They ran to her, taking her in their arms, rubbing at her face, and asking a million more questions that she was in no condition to answer.
Mirabelle suddenly felt extreme exhaustion wash over her. Her head began to swoon, and a second later, everything went dark.
The End?
