I know these last 2 chapters could have just been combined into one, but I really wanted to have this be an even 20 chapters. Having only 19 would have driven me crazy for the rest of eternity! But I figured I could just upload them both at the same time, then it won't really make much of a difference, right? :)
Several Months Later. . .
Mirabelle happily parked her car in front of the, now very familiar Mega Pizzaplex. Hopping out and locking it behind her, she practically skipped in through the front doors while simultaneously dawning a black cap that displayed the word: STAFF, across the front in bold, white letters. Meanwhile, pinned to her shirt and flapping around along with her, was a badge that was adorned with the Fazbear Entertainment logo, her name, and a description that read: Engineering Intern.
"Good morning, Mira! Today's the big day, isn't it?" Asked the now, much friendlier, front gate attendant.
"Yep! We're finally putting the finishing touches on Freddy," she acknowledged.
"Glad to hear it. I'm sure all the patrons will be super excited as well. I know a lot of the kids have really missed him," she said.
"Well, they aren't the only ones," Mirabelle mumbled under her breath. "Wish us luck!" she exclaimed a little louder, crossing her fingers as she backed into the complex. She received a smile and a wave in response.
"I doubt you have missed me that much. It's not like we are constantly talking to each other or anything," she heard Freddy teasing her from down on her wrist.
Mirabelle rolled her eyes and lifted the watch up to her chest.
"Hey! I really don't need you getting all sarcastic on me right now. You know as well as I do that this isn't exactly the same," she pointed out with a pout. "But I do have to admit, it's been way better than the alternative," she confessed.
"I suppose on that point, we can agree," he acknowledged.
Mirabelle used her badge to gain access to Freddy's room to find Vanessa already inside, waiting for her. Due to the extenuating circumstances, she'd been allowed to join the engineering team in the Parts and Service room during this very momentous occasion.
"Hey there, kiddo. You ready?" she asked as soon as she saw her enter.
Mirabelle nodded, trying not to let her nervousness show, but sadly failing.
"Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. You're working with some serious professionals here. They'll make sure nothing bad happens to Freddy's data. Promise," she reassured her, giving her shoulder a friendly squeeze.
The girl nodded that she understood and took a deep breath.
"Right. We got this," she voiced with a little more determination.
"What about you, big guy? You ready to be mobile again?" Vanessa joked into Mirabelle's watch.
"Ready as I'll ever be," they heard him confirm.
"Alright then, let's go," Vanessa encouraged, leading Mirabelle into Freddy's elevator.
Once down in Parts and Service, they were met with the warm, friendly smiles of the engineers that Mirabelle had been closely working with for the past several months. Both her and Vanessa had confided the entire situation to them when they'd first agreed to take Mirabelle on as an intern. And now, they were ready and willing to use Freddy's stored data as the personality program for the newly completed animatronic. In fact, they'd been pretty happy when they learned that the program had been salvaged, as it ended up saving them several weeks worth of work building a new one.
Mirabelle placed her hand on the outside of the protective cylinder, and felt her eyes growing a bit misty as she stared in at the completed body of her friend, looking exactly as it had when she'd first met him. Somehow, the idea that it was going to be up and moving soon was making her more emotional than she'd thought she'd be. After all, she'd been staring at it for months now as she assisted in putting him back together. However, this time, just felt different. From his position, it looked almost like he was sleeping.
The sudden sound of the main stage elevator grinding caused the young adult to jump a bit. She turned around to find the rest of the members of the Glamrock band descending into the Parts and Service room, who had all been fixed up and rebooted before now. It hadn't taken them long to be recommissioned once they had been declared virus free by the engineers. She cast a quizzical gaze at the other staff, but they just kept smiling encouragingly.
Mirabelle felt herself involuntarily shrink back a bit as Monty sheepishly padded up to her. Despite knowing that it was not at all his fault, it was still kind of hard for her to look at him without remembering those same burning, red eyes staring down at her while attempting to crush the life out of her! But she had agreed to try and give him the benefit of the doubt, for Freddy's sake if nothing else. However, that hadn't stopped her from keeping her distance for the most part, of which the other animatronics were well aware, and had been trying to respect.
"Hi, Mira, um. . ." he trailed, rubbing the back of his neck and hesitating for a bit. "We were told that you were going to be bringing Freddy back online today, and I – well – we, were hoping that you'd be alright with us being here for it too?" he requested, while also indicating the animatronic wolf and chicken behind him.
They waved awkwardly at her.
Mirabelle felt her visage soften in spite of herself. She let out a deep sigh as she realized that it was high time she put the past behind her. The other Glamrocks were nothing if not polite and kind to her whenever they did happen to cross paths over these last several months. So, even though she was still struggling with wary feelings, logically she knew it was totally unfair to continue to hold what Afton forced them to do, against them.
"Yeah, of course I'm alright with it. I know Freddy has missed you guys too, and he'll want to see you, I'm sure," she told them.
Monty and the others seemed to visibly relax at her words, and the humans in the room all looked proud to see the amount of emotional progress she'd made in such a short time.
"Thanks Mira," he replied sincerely, and she nodded back at him.
"Well, now that that's settled. Mira, would you care to do the honors?" The lead tech asked, motioning towards the upgrade computer.
She grinned back at him, slipping the Fazwatch off her wrist and plugging it into the awaiting chord. Afterwards, she clicked on the – install personality program – button, and took a step back to allow the others to monitor the progress of the upload.
Mirabelle watched the status bar with nervous anticipation. Even though it seemed to take an eternity to fully fill, she didn't think she actually took a breath the entire time. But once the bar was full, the computer indicated that the process had successfully completed. Then, a moment later, and the one and only Freddy Fazbear – opened his eyes!
. . .
Freddy rose up out of the chair, testing his new body before the engineers opened the protective cylinder to let him out. He was immediately swarmed by his animatronic friends, all grinning and patting him on the shoulders, congratulating him on his successful return.
This only lasted for a moment, however, before his optics began to search the room until they landed on what he'd been looking for.
Mirabelle was standing a bit off to the side, clutching at her chest and looking like she was almost too afraid to move, as she stared up at him with wide, round eyes.
Freddy's expression softened, and his smile widened, as he gently pushed past his friends before leaning down in front of her, so that their faces would be at the same level. Bright, blue optics stared into soft, gray eyes until he finally spoke.
"Mirabelle, it is so good to see you. I've missed you," he told her, with more tenderness than anyone could remember hearing from an animatronic before.
The girl in question then finally broke her frozen stance, only to burst into tears before tackling the robot bear, throwing her arms around his neck. This action knocked her hat back a bit, which she promptly flung off her head, to allow him to gently weave his claws into her hair. He chuckled at her display, holding her tightly against him to finally give her that hug he'd wished for so long ago.
"I've m-missed you too! So much! Promise me – promise me that you'll never – leave me again!" she practically demanded of him.
He let out a breathy laugh before replying.
"I promise."
After a moment, one of the technicians cocked his head in confusion before suddenly speaking up, interrupting the rest of the room, who were busy observing the super sweet exchange with tender gazes.
"Is he allowed to do that?" he wondered at the security guard standing next to him.
She lobbed an irritated glare at his lack of sensitivity.
"Who are we to say what he's allowed to do when it comes to the people he cares about?" she lectured haughtily.
"Vanessa makes a good point," The lead engineer chimed in at hearing their conversation. "I believe this whole ordeal has taught us all a really valuable lesson," he determined, the others all glancing at him to see what he would say.
"It would seem that it is not the circumstances of one's birth - but the situations we experience, the relationships that we form, and what we do with the gift of life, that determines who we are."
The End!
A/N: Guys, I did it! I can't believe it! I actually finished a full fanfiction for the first time! Starting this story was already bizarre enough, but I never thought my first complete chapter post would be for FNAF of all things. Crazy! But I was determined, and managed to persevere, and now here we are. Part of me is a little sad that it's over, but I'm also very happy to be able to finally reach a conclusion for once!
(And did I basically just steal that super iconic quote at the end there? Maybe. . . But I just felt like it fit the situation perfectly, so can you blame me? Lol)
I just wanted to give a big thank you and shout out to all my faves, followers, and especially those reviewers who stuck with me throughout all this and gave me the motivation to keep working.

And just a big, final Thank You to everyone who even took the time to read through my silly story! Even without any direct feedback, watching those view numbers grow and grow was still really nice to see! And who knows, I might even revisit this world in the future with some additional side stories if there's enough interest.
But for now, anyway – I guess, until the next time, Bye Bye!
