Anyway if Percy at the third book is a seven and an Olympian demigod is averaging at a three, Aaron's raw powers are a five... right now. Closer to Percy then most, but not quite his equal as Posiden is still a beast and Percy is too.
I am drawing from Rowen on Supernatural, Setne from Kane Chronicles, Regina from OUAT, and Willow/Tara from Buffy for inspiration for Aaron's powers and path.
"This is really something." D'Anthony said as he walked into the Library of Hecate and Trivia, the portal allowing him entrance sensing his importance as Praetor. "I cannot belive you managed to channel Pluto's power so well as to cast this kind of magic."
Aaron shrugged, looking worn from the experience. "He is a helpful god, people fear him too much. He is our judge and Lord in Death, so why fear him? He is rather amicable really." Smiling, the boy turned back to his book. "Did you know that, after going to Egypt and ruling it for a portion of time, Romans picked up a trick the Egyptians used to train their mages? Acolytes would practice Scrying, sending messages to and fro, as well as seeing the Past and present like a camera as a means to train their mages in the basics of sensing magic and whatnot. This is the basics of Divination in a way I never learned. The more I read here, the more I realize the holes in my education. I really am going to become much stronger here."
That scared D'Anthony, he felt the boy's magic already and it was potent. In a year or two, he'd be able to fight a lesser god with just his magic. It was ridicolous... and terrifying. The boy's growth was almost unheard of... for any mere mortal to have gained so much power in less then two years...it was not a good thing, the Fates could not allow this. It went against all he knew about magic and destiny and illiusion of choice.
Pulling a false smile onto his face, D'Anthony let his mind swarm with ideas to put Aaron out of commision...
Forever...
But until then, he decided to smooze. "I am glad you are wise enough to notice your faults, it is not the most Roman of features but it is one that is utterly vital to growth and success." He put on a false smile and oozed his mother's powers, enough to mask his own aura and emotions from any magic. It was a trick he developed early on in his career at Camp Jupiter.
"I agree, whole heartedly... I cannot wait to see how far I can foresee..." Aaron waved his hand over a bowl filled with oil that D'Anthony hadn't noticed at first. A silvery light appeared like tiny pieces of glitter over the oil. Swirling his fingers around, the magic mixed into the oil and soon an image formed. It was of a Cyclops, only she was beautiful in ways he had never seen for a monster. " This is your sister, Meggy, my adopted little sister. She is a child of Venus, as you are. I miss her, dearly." He released the magic and her image dispelled. "That is easy, but I can see why it helps, it really requires mental focus. I will be using that as an exercise frequently I think..." Smiling, Aaron turned to him. "What did you need?"
Blinking it took a moment for the Praetor to remember his cause. "I wanted to see if you wanted to visit the healers now. They are in a low period of care, few injuries, so they can asses you for your skills and get you started."
"Coolio... Ladies and Germs, Lenore is in charge. Keep reading on scryig ng and practicing. I want your mental focus to be razor sharp before I start you on the more advanced things like reviving roses and playing with fire." The other mages all nodded and continued to study, allowing Aaron the chance to move with him out of the temple's libray with Lydia following them softly. "Hey, can I try something?"
D'Anthony felt a feeling of dread, but nodded anyway.
Only for Aaron to vanish in a swirl of silvery grey wind and magic, appearing twenty feet away from the temple with his hands on his knees, panting. "I have cast ... a spell to travel from Mount Tam to Mount Olympus with Atlas' blood... but doing this on my own, it is so much harder. I can see why Pluto warned me that power was not the only part of this. Focus and mental accuity is... still, that is a unique skill and one I cannot wait to master. That and Shadow Travel, but that is super draining and dangerous so I will need to channel the others before I play with that power." Groaning, the boy stood up straight. "My head aches from the raw focus that needs... I will definitely benefit from the exercises I found in the beginner scrolls."
D'Anthony knew in that moment that he had to get rid of Aaron sooner then later, at this rate he would really overthrow Octavian or have the power to overthrow D'Anthony himself with his power. The boy was too open to grow, too powerful, too free from divine power plays. He had too much influence already, being a Priest. He was not good for Rome, long term...
Not for D'Anthony's vision of it.
He would have to go... sooner then later. No matter what Juno said...
A voice whispered through his mind and he had the perfect idea... "Say, what do you feel about werewolves, Aaron?"
""'
Stunned, Aaron had no real answer to give out immediately but somehow he managed to say something. "I sort of pity them. I mean how many have been cursed due to Lyacon's malice?"
D'Anthony nodded, looking solemn. "I was thinking of having your prove yourself and serve Lord Jupiter, solidifying your connection as Priest, by having you hunt down the Wolves and take them out. They have been a real problem for us over the centuries, picking off and turning our people. He is a real menence."
Aaron immediatley knew that something was up. "You've seen my skills, do you really think I would be able to kill many wolves let alone their king?"
"Frankly, yes... but you wouldn't be alone, you would be able to choose those that go with you on your mission." He smiled softly. "Lyacon was last seen not far from the Wolf House. We worry that he is going to defile that sacred space. We wouldn't send you just yet, I want you to get a grip on your magic better before we send you out... but I was thinking of asking the Gods for Guidance on this for months, then you come in with your powerful magic and combat skills... you feel like the perfect person to send after them."
'It's a trap, but why? What did you do to get him to send you after one of the arguably most dangerous Monsters?" Lydia's voice drifted into Aaron's mind, making him sigh softly.
Reaching out, he pushed magic into his thoughts and tried to speak to her mentally. "I have no idea... I am unsure of so many things... I feel I stepped on toes or insulted egos by mistake somehow."
"Whatever the reason, you must be careful father. I'd rather you not die."
He smiled at her, pleased that he managed to speak to her mentally. It was just one of many things he had progressed on thanks to his powerboost... it was amazing what his skills allowed now that he had the power to take advantage of said skills.

It took an hour for the Medics to declare Aaron an expert healer, not a mater but an expert. All of those training sessions with Will had come in handy, and so he was able to start learning how to use Unicorn drought for healing. Simply put, it was water and Unicorn Horn shavings mixed together to create a subtler, easier magical healing draught that could work on even mortals like Aaron! He made a point to stock up on the stuff in the future.
Mixed with various herbs and salts, the Unicorn shavings could heal an assortment of ailments. It made him really want a Unicorn and wish that Camp Halfblood had them as well... sadly they did not for some reason. The more he learned about the Romans, the more he realized they were just superior to their Greek Counterparts in everyway bar raw power. It was frustratingly awesome and debilitating all at once. They had a freaking way to heal Mortals almost as quickly as Ambrosia could a demigod! That was insane...
"Can you cast healing spells?" Declan, the head medic, asked him after explaining the uses of Unicorn shavings. " I mean your powerful, and you mentioned that you can heal yourself with the Earth's majesty... can you translate that into healing spells? I mean beyond potions or casting a hymn to my father."
Frowning, Aaron made a huh sound. "I haven't tried... but I guess it couldn't hurt." Moving his left hand around, he saw the thin line of scab from where he cut himself to offer his blood to Pluto. He hadn't bothered to heal it with anything, his potions were destroyed by the Tiber afterall... why not try a spell? One of his own making... "Vitam recrearit, fuere et sanabunt!"
Soft silverish light, the color of his magic as he had discovered by peering at his own aura, shimmered around his wound and slowly it stitched together until it actually healed. He huffed, feeling a tiny migraine from the focus of the spell. It took little power, but a lot of focus... a theme in Roman magic it seemed.
Declan smiled. "That would be helpful... why don't you spend every other day, from say after lunch til dinner working with us. Then you can spend the mornings practicing magic every day, then spend the other half of the week practicing your archery and swordplay."
"I'd like that... I really hope to be as useful as possible, this is my best option it seems."
"Great... since your already an expert, I will spread word. People will know they can rely on you to heal them. I will make you a healers pouch, since the Little Tiber washed aside your other potions. "
Smiling, Aaron nodded. "That would be great... I will study more healing magic on my own, Healing and necromancy are my two specialties so... this is really going to be helpful." Especially, he realized, if Agnes kept her word and taught him to the best of her abilities.
Speaking of, he felt her presence pushing against his mind. "Don't forget, I need to test your powers later... after dinner go and mask your presence with the Mist, that way I can test your full powers."
Nodding, he sent a wave of confirmation back to her.
He was so looking forward to this.
To all of it, to Camp Jupiter as a whole and the progress he would make in this place... if only he could figure out what he did to scare D'Anthony so much... and prevent the possiblity of being sent against a contagious, powerful set of monsters harmed only by extreme magic and silver... things he lacked at the present time. He'd really rather not lose everything by being cursed to be a wolf for all time...
It would really mess things up for him.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was fun.
