Check out Naomi's Gift, Melione's Curse by MikaRauch on Wattpad to see an awesome Original Story I am writing. Here is the Synopsis.
Cursed with mortality among a sea of demigod and legacies, Naomi struggles the shine. Desperate to matter, to gain a fraction of the power and influence of her peers, Naomi applies herself to become a heroine unlike any other. One powered by ingenuity and strength of character instead of divinity and nepotism. She seeks the only form of immortality available to mere mortals like her, that which came from being remembered forever in the stories of men. Nothing will get in her way,... except maybe her nephilim brother and those that see that her place was as a breeder for the gods.
Melione on the other hand sought only one thing... freedom. Freedom from the burden of her bloodline and the curse they bore. As the last legacies of Harmonia, they carried the curse of her wedding night and the gifts given to the one time goddess. It was Melione's turn to bear the curse, as her aunt had before her. Desperate to be free, she will do anything to break the curse on her family and finally end the cycle of misery so engrained into her bloodline. It doesn't matter the cost, she was willing to lay it and fight against the child gods who cursed her bloodline so many eons ago.
Aaron rarely remembered his dreams, they were too insubstantial to be remembered beyond tiny blurs of color and occasioanlly sound. Today was different, immediatley the moment he fell asleep he awoke in a familar Throne Room. The radiant power of Hades filled his spiritual senses, tainting his dream with the man's sensual aura. Turning, he saw the man sitting on his throne, looking younger then ever...
Around sixteen or seventeen... around Aaron's age, oddly enough. He was wearing mortal clothes too, a black button up plaid shirt and dark jeans. He looked amazing really...
"Young Aaron, how are you? How goes your trial for Hera?" The man smirked, an image that made Aaron flush a little.
He bowed a little, not too low, and offered a smile to the God of the Dead. "I am well, and my research for Hera goes... well enough I suppose. Studying Terminus is helpful, but he is a purely Roman god so there is no deviation as there would be for you or Hera." He felt nervous for some reason, the look in Hades' eyes was disconcerting. It was a mad twinkle, like a scientist that had discover some terrible poison. "May I ask why you have summoned me?"
The man laughed at him. "There is no need to be uncomfortable, you are here because of this." He lifted his hand, showing a piece of paper. "Pluto found it and made sure I recieved it. It was from you, containing a brilliant idea, that I hire Leto to take care of the children of the Dead. I wanted to know why you thought of this and the benifits you see for such a position."
Gulping, Aaron straightened his back. "Well, Leto is retired as far as I am aware and that puts her at risk of fading. I know that the Underworld is crowded. Putting two and two together, I saw a potential path. Really it makes sense. She can be in more then one place at a time, so hiring her is like hiring ten employees really. The children of the Underworld are many I am sure, but is it right to put them in The Fields of Asphodel when they never had the chance to be heroes? No, it feels wrong... so she can help them guide them into rebirth allowing your Kingdom to operate more smoothly and reducing the congregation of souls in Asphodel."
Once again, Hades laughed except this time he snapped his fingers. From behind his throne, a beautiful women appeared. She had blonde hair tied into a zigzag pattern and silver yellow eyes that resembled the moon. Her skin was a beautiful bronze color, tight against her taunt well muscled form. She was an archer, that was clear, even while dressed in a white sun dress. Then there was her power, it was greater then most Gods, not equal to an Olympian but still great. It was calming, sweet and kind but clearly that of a titan like Atlas. It was more... rough around the edges, more elemental and primal and less refined.
"Your Leto." He managed to figure out, getting a beatiful smile from the lovely Titanness.
"Yes, deary, that would be me. I must thank you. I always wanted more children to care for, I adored being a baby sitter and mother but I feared having any more children with any other gods or titans... this job will allow me the power to help a great many while also caring for that part of me." She tittered with laughter. "I cannot believe I never thought of this before, it is such a good job for me. The pay is excellent as well, it comes with a great many perks. I have shadow powers now, something I never had before." She demonstrated said power, causing a shadow to rise and wrap around her fingers before fading away once more. "Neat, huh?"
"Very." Aaron said, a little nervous. "I am happy your happy, I am glad that my idea came to fruition."
Hades clapped his hands. "Leto is a powerful titan, the strongest female of her Generation tied only with Selene who faded many years ago. Though combat is not her specialty, she is a healer like Apollo, she is a powerful force comparable to Atlas himself. I was shocked to find that she was so willing to serve in my court."
The women shrugged. "I was close to Iapetus, he ruled the Underworld in the previous age. I never had issue with the Underworld, or you Lord Hades. I am not so petty as to hold the Underworld against you."
That made Hades' almost glow with pleasure. "I am honored, my dear." he turned back to Aaron. "I wanted to show you that your suggestion bore fruit. She has been hired as Leto and Latona, both forms shall work in the Underworld to make it more managable. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to send them down. I am more then eager to hear them."
Moved, Aaron nodded. "If I think of anything, you'll be the first to know."
"Good, now... I have an idea for you. Try practicing divination with Terminus. I suspect seeing the past of how Roman gods split may very well help you discover how to retrieve any deceny in my father." With that, Hades waved his hand and Aaron's dream ended in a wave of darkness.
:::
As soon as he awoke Aaron obeyed Hades' suggestion and rushed with his supplies up the the Border of New Rome with a rush of excitment and passion. Finally a god had given him a clue as to actually made a difference. As soon as he found his spot, he sat down and started pouring oil into his scrying bowl while sitting next to a statue of Terminus. Drawing on the Ambient essence of the God, he pushed his own aura into the oil. Immediatley it boiled, only for a moment, before it turned flat and black. Then, before his very eyes, an image formed. The image was murky at first, but before he could so much as fine tune the image it cleared up and he saw before him the beautiful backdrop of Olympus.
He saw Aphrodite, she was holding her head, her form shimmering and shivering. He heard voice around her, prayers in Ancient Greek that he could not understand due to the accents but who's emotions he could taste. He watched with some horror as the woman's form split down the middle, a seperate image flickering on either side. The first was the Aphrodite as he was seeing, the one who's form shifted with every passing second. The other side was a stoic but passionate looking women that oozed a darker aura.
"I am Venus/I am Aphrodite... Ugh... my head." She collasped to her knees, stunned as she could barely hold onto her form. "Aeneus, my son... what..." She turned and waved her hand, an image forming before her, a hologram of a horribly bloody war. Death and destruction, pure violence. Gods were warring in the skies above the battle, mortals fighting on the ground. A great walled city lay beyound them.
"Troy." Aaron whispered, horrified. "They say that Aenaus was a child of Venus, so the split must have started here."
He watched as she waved her hand again and the image shifted to a man on a boat, sailing awa. He was beautfiul as Venus' children always were, radiating the power of his mother. Aaron watched and listened, flickers of Ancient Greek slipping in and out of his ears, so little of it he understood. To keep up he started to whisper the pieces he got.
"... Destined to start... empire... seeds of the future... Fate's command that I... Great Founder. Lord Jupiter..."
It was hearing that last word, Jupiter, that Aaron slapped his head, as everything he needed slipped into place. Things making sense, not just in a magical way, but in a scientific sort of way.
"It's like a cell trying to splt up, the gods feed on mortal prayers and thoughts. The cell split but not fully, so instead of creating two seperate gods it created something akin to siamese twins. The cell hasn't split entirely, they are still stuck together. I am a genius, as is Lord Hades... That is why I got nothing major from you Terminus, your part of the second twin, not the First as opposed to the other gods who are a mixture of both... If this analogy holds, being influenced too much by both sides at once might be like trying to move their arms, both control it so nothing happens... or too much happens.
I know how to help Hades' father. We need prayers, which he is already feeding on, to image and focus on the Good side of him. Doing this will cause a split, then we can cut him free once he is visible! A spell like that would take god level power but it would also have to be powered by Mortal thought... this would be a spell of pure empathy... Agnes, we have work to do!"
Greatful, he stood up and ran off, ignoring the stunned eyes of Terminus as he hurried to the Temple of Puto. Neither knew how much Aaron was about to change history, or how the very path of the war was about to shift entirely.
And to think, it all came about from actually helping Pluto/Hades, instead of shunning him like everyone else. Who knew Kindness could actually be helpful!
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was fun, simple and I found my groove once again.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
