Percy is far better trained in my story. He never wasted time like in canon...
And Aaron is better than Percy now, by a bit since he has far more training and experience.
Only Luke, Thalia and the Gods can beat/rival him.
"I am so excited for you Percy!" Aaron was giddy, he had finally returned home with Leo to meet up with Sally and Percy and Paul. It had been a mini celebration for the last day or so, and now they were at Percy's new school. Paul, awesome Paul, had put himself out on a limb to help Percy and got him into the new school. Now that he was clear sighted, Paul had actually started to spar with Percy as the man was actually a mildly accomplished swordsman from his years of theater in college.
Goode was this big brownstone building overlooking the East River. A bunch of BMWs and Lincoln Town Cars were parked out front. It radiated peace and knowledge, he just knew it would be a good place for Percy to attend.
"Just relax." Sally didn't sound relaxed, she knew her son all to well reacting to the look on his handsome face. "It's only an orientation tour. And remember, dear, this is Paul's school. So try not to…you know."
"Destroy it?" Percy replied, a touch sadly.
"Yes." Paul Blofis, Sally's amazing boyfriend, was standing out front, greeting future ninth graders as they came up the steps. With his salt-and-pepper hair, denim clothes, and leather jacket he looked positively adorable. "Be happy, sweetie!? Tomorrow you're off to camp! After orientation, you've got your date—"
"It's not a date!" Percy protested and Aaron laughed at his little brother. "It's just Annabeth, Mom. Jeez!"
"She's coming all the way from camp to meet you."
"Well, yeah."
"You're going to the movies."
"Yeah."
"Just the two of you."
"Mom!"
She held up her hands in surrender, but Aaron could tell she was trying hard not to smile. "You'd better get inside, dears. I'll see you tonight. Oh and thank you, Aaron, for escorting Percy Today. I know you want him as safe as I do." Something shifted then on her face. She was looking at Percy, and so he did the same and saw fear in teh boy's every expression. "Percy? What's wrong?"
"N-nothing," He stammered. "Does the school have a side entrance?"
"Down the block on the right. Why?"
"I'll see you later."
Aaron grabbed his brother, using his vast strength to stop Percy as he left the car. "What's the hurry?"
Percy sighed, looking panicky. "That girl, taking to Paul... she's a clearsighted girl I met at the Hoover Damn when he tried to save you and Artemis."
That made Aaron frown. "Percy I am sensing, not literally, but I am sensing destiny at work here. What are the chances you'd see her twice in a few months? Especially once before being on a quest?"
Sighing, Percy nodded. "Fine... good point... can I still go in through the side?"
"It's up to you, just don't ignore fate."
Sneaking into orientation didn't work out too well. Two cheerleaders in purple-and-white uniforms were standing at the side entrance, waiting to ambush freshmen.
"Hi!" They smiled. One was blond with icy blue eyes. The other was African American with dark curly hair like Medusa's Both girls had their names stitched in cursive on their uniforms.
"Welcome to Goode," the blond girl said. "You are so going to love it." Her eyes were filled with malice and her aura with potent magic. Aaron immediately was one edge, focusing hard to see through the Mist. Powerful as he had become, the Mist could still fool him at times with a practiced hand given that he was not a natural at seeing through it.
The other girl stepped uncomfortably close, her aura five times stronger. Aaron studied the stitching on her uniform and made out Kelli. She smelled like roses and the scent of freshly washed horses. "What's your name, fish?"
"Fish?" Percy asked.
"Freshman."
"Uh, Percy."
The girls exchanged looks. "Oh, Percy Jackson," the blond one said. "We've been waiting for you."
Aaron flared his magic, strong enough to make both ladies shiver in fear. "Try something, daughters of Hecate, and you die." He growled. "Percy, meet the Empousai, creations of Hecate eons ago. They have powerful magic, but they are no match for me. Also, just a warning girls. I am gay and asexual, your seductive magics will hold no sway on me. I can and will kill you both, with my bare hands."
Then another voice came from inside the building. "Percy? Aaron?" It was Paul Blofis, somewhere down the hallway.
The cheerleaders backed off, shaking in utter terror. "Aaron, the new god?" Kelli asked. "Even Lady Hecate knows of your greatness..."
"Good, now go before I unwind your magic, we both know what that would do to you."
They all but sprinted away.
"There you are!" Paul told them. "Welcome to Goode!"
"Hey, Paul—uh, Mr. Blofis.
"Percy, you look like you've seen a ghost."
"Yeah, uh—"
Paul clapped me on the back. "Listen, I know you're nervous, but don't worry. We get a lot of kids here with ADHD and dyslexia. The teachers know how to help."
Aaron grabbed Paul's arm. " There are monsters here, powerful Empousa. Basically witch vampires, one of them is upper level too. Not my level in the craft, neither of them, but still strong." He turned to Paul fully. "The blade I gave you, it can kill monsters, be ready to use it if you have to."
Paul nodded, cold and serious.
The redheaded girl Percy mentioned was coming up them, she saw them and Her eyes widened.
"Where's the orientation?" Percy asked Paul.
"The gym. That way. But—"
"Bye."
"Percy?" he called.
A bunch of kids were heading for the gym, and soon they was just one of three hundred fourteen-year-olds all crammed into the bleachers. A marching band played an out-of-tune fight song that sounded like somebody hitting a bag of cats with a metal baseball bat. Older kids, probably student council members, stood up front modeling the Goode school uniform and looking all, Hey, we're cool. Teachers milled around, smiling and shaking hands with students. The walls of the gym were plastered with big purple and-white banners that said WELCOME FUTURE FRESHMEN, GOODE IS GOOD, WE'RE ALL FAMILY, and a bunch of other happy slogans.
None of the other freshmen looked thrilled to be here.
The marching band stopped playing. A guy in a pinstripe suit came to the microphone and started talking, but the sound echoed around the gym so it was hard to hear.
Someone grabbed my shoulder," What are you doing here?"
It was her, the red headed girl.
"Rachel Elizabeth Dare," Percy said.
Her jaw dropped like she couldn't believe I had the nerve to remember her name. "And you're Percy somebody. I didn't get your full name last December when you tried to kill me."
"Look, I wasn't—I didn't—What are you doing here?"
"Same as you, I guess. Orientation."
"You live in New York?"
"What, you thought I lived at the Hoover Dam?"
Some guy behind them whispered, "Hey, shut up. The cheerleaders are talking!"
"Hi, guys!" a girl bubbled into the microphone. It was the blonde Empousa. "My name is Tammi, and this is like, Kelli." Kelli did a cartwheel.
Next to me, Rachel yelped like someone had stuck her with a pin. A few kids looked over and snickered, but Rachel just stared at the cheerleaders in horror. Tammi didn't seem to notice the outburst. She started talking about all the great ways they could get involved during our freshman year.
"Run," Rachel told me. "Now."
"Why?"
Rachel didn't explain. She pushed her way to the edge of the bleachers, ignoring the frowning teachers and grumbling kids she was stepping on.
Percy hesitated but Aaron hurried after her, his eyes widening as he took in her massive aura. It was on par with Percy's only entirely pure, no trace of divinity. Tammi was explaining how they were about to break into small groups and tour the school. Paul Blofis was down there with the rest of the teachers, but he was educated and would help them mask their presence if need be.
They found Rachel in the band room. She was hiding behind a bass drum in the percussion section.
"Get over here!" she said. "Keep your head down!"
"Did they follow you?" Rachel asked.
"You mean the cheerleaders?" She nodded nervously. "I don't think so," Percy said. "What are they? What did you see?"
Her green eyes were bright with fear. She had a sprinkle of freckles on her face that reminded me of constellations. Her maroon T-shirt read HARVARD ART DEPT. "You…you wouldn't believe me."
Aaron leaned before her. "Honey, you can see Monsters can't you?" His tone was soft, warm, the same tone he used with Meggy when he first met her. Rachel nodded, her eyes slightly wet. "I can do that too, though I was not born with that power. I learned to use it. Percy's mom, my stepmom, can do what you can do naturally. Paul, our stepfather, was given that power by the gods. You are not crazy. We know the Cheerleaders look like vampires."
The girl threw herself into his arms, and he patted her back. She pulled back. "Sorry, it's just I've never found anyone like me."
"It can be terrifying, but you never had anyone to help you. The gift is called Clearsight. It is exceptionally rare, but I can sense that you possesses an exceptionally strong gift. Your aura, it is perfect for the craft. You would be a terrifying witch. Hell, I can train you, if you'd like."
She beamed. "I would love that!" She turned to Percy. "Your brother is a witch, what are you?"
"A demigod."
"Can you see the monsters too?"
Percy nodded. "Not as well as you, from what I've learned. The gift is tied to an affinity for magic. Aaron is a scarily powerful, borderline god tier witch. He is turning immortal on his own, his gift is really strong."
"Her's is stronger than mine," Aaron said. "Clearsight is stronger if you are born with it, unless you become a god."
Down the hallway, Aaron heard a mob of kids coming out of the gymnasium. They were starting the group tours. They didn't have long to talk.
Her eyes widened. "Become a god? And you are becoming immortal?"
Aaron nodded. "Perk of practicing the craft and dating Hades." She actually gasped.
Just then Tammi and Kelli stepped into the band room. The doors slammed shut behind them in a wave of magic. He could easily strip the damn spell, hell he could do it in his sleep.
"There you are, Percy Jackson," Tammi said. "It's time for your orientation."
"They're horrible!" Rachel gasped.
Tammi and Kelli were still wearing their purple-and-white cheerleader costumes, holding pom-poms from the rally.
"What do they really look like?" Percy asked, but Rachel seemed too stunned to answer.
"Oh, forget her." Tammi gave a brilliant smile and started walking toward them. Kelli stayed by the doors, blocking their exit.
"Percy," Rachel warned.
Percy said something really intelligent like, "Uhhh?"
Tammi was getting closer. She held out her pom-poms.
Percy and Aaron both summoned their blades, his Silver blade and Percy's... was a new blade, just like Riptide only crafted from Mystic Moon blessed Silver. "Nice, when'd you get this?" Aaron asked.
"My present from Zoe, since she took back her power from Riptide." Percy smirked. "It can do some cool things, channels my powers perfectly."
"Noice." They fell into their stances and charged, in moments, before the Empousa could react, both Percy and Aaron turned them to dust. They moved with blinding, well trained speed, so fast that the Demon witches could not even blink before they died. It was a symphony of death, beautiful and swift. One could not train under Greece and Rome and not crush them, or Metis in either case.
However something... odd happened. The moment Kelli died, a scream echoed from her body and flames followed next. He felt her die, her essence brushed through the world but that did not stop her from ending the peace. Waves of fire splashed over everything. Horribly hot flames engulfed the doorway.
"Percy?" Paul Blofis looked completely stunned, staring at them from across the fire. "What happened?"
Kids screamed and ran down the hall. The fire alarm wailed. Ceiling sprinklers hissed to life. Aaron snapped his fingers, weaving the Mist effortlessly and instinctively creating a wave that made them see what he wanted. "The Cheerleaders set off Molotov cocktails, you are letting me take Percy to be checked out for injuries."
The teachers repeated what he said, but Paul nodded. "I understand, go and be safe."
In the chaos, Rachel tugged on their sleeves. "You have to get out of here!" She was right. The school was in flames and they had to maintain their cover.
Together they sprinted for the broken band room window.
They burst out of the alley onto East 81st and ran straight into Annabeth.
"Hey, you're out early!" she laughed, grabbing Percy's shoulders to keep me from tumbling into the street. "Watch where you're going, Seaweed Brain." For a split second she was in a good mood and everything was fine. She was wearing jeans and an orange camp T-shirt and her clay bead necklace. Her blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Her gray eyes sparkled. She looked like she was ready to catch a movie, have a cool afternoon hanging out together.
Then Rachel Elizabeth Dare, still covered in monster dust, came charging out of the alley, yelling, "Percy, wait up!"
Annabeth's smile melted. She stared at Rachel, then at the school. For the first time, she seemed to notice the black smoke and ringing fire alarms.
She frowned at Percy. "What did you do this time? And who is this?"
"Oh, Rachel—Annabeth. Annabeth—Rachel. Um, she's a friend, I guess."
"Hi," Rachel said. Then she turned to Aaron. "How'd you make them buy what you said?" Police sirens wailed on FDR Drive.
"Magic and the Mist, the magic you see through to see Monsters."
"Percy, Aaron" Annabeth said coldly. "We should go."
"I want to know more about half-bloods," Rachel insisted. "And monsters and Witches. And this stuff about the gods." She grabbed Percy's arm, whipped out a permanent marker, and wrote a phone number on his hand. Then did the same to Aaron. "You're going to call me and explain, okay? You owe me that. Now get going."
Aaron kissed her forehead. " Hades, Persephone, watch over this girl for I sense she will have a powerful future." To his pleasure, both his lover and friend did as he asked and he felt their blessing caress the girl.
She ran back toward the school, leaving them in the street.
"Hey!" Percy and Aaron jogged after Annabeth "There were these two empousai," Percy tried to explain. "They were cheerleaders, see but Aaron and I killed them-"
"You told a mortal girl about half-bloods?" Annabeth interrupted.
"She can see through the Mist. She saw the monsters before I did."
"So you told her the truth?"
"She recognized me from Hoover Dam, so—"
"You've met her before?"
"Um, last winter. But seriously, I barely know her."
"She's kind of cute."
"I—I never thought about it."
Aaron froze. "Yes, she is very cute, but Annabeth that is neither here nor there. Let us get to camp and then we can deal. No time for pettiness." Annabeth nodded, sighing.
"I... I am sorry." She said, smiling at Aaron who she hugged quickly. "I was sort of suspicious of you but since you freed Metis... well I grew up. She is helping me with my pride and teaching me magic, like you!" She let her hand burst into flames. "See!"
"I see, very good, elemental magic is basic but not easy. Good work."
Annabeth beamed.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This is very fun to write.
