Episode #28 - The Winter Kingdom from Hell
In my story here, this will be different depending on who gets affected from the Coco-Fudge and not from my other story in the dream Metaverse from the Slime Shadow of the Chef, okay? Yeah, it'll be a little on one and affect some of the people in Hokkaido, Sapporo here. For Akechi was on to something to save the others from eating it but the other people in the area, and for Morgana to get the taste of it...As well as Haru and Mariko know each other to be nice and so demanding of perfections on her staff members to make it look to well, something was up. From day to night, they need to hear rumors about the mayor herself for more clues to get the keyword from Mariko's speeches tomorrow since she gets her friends from the EMMA app. With those four, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, Futaba, and Sophia need to gather some rumor downtown somehow. So it was time to get to work again.
Keiko: With Akechi-Cun reporting back to Zenny on some other things he has found, then we might find something about Mariko's odd behavior. Everyone else is all over town doing the same thing. Now then...Sophia, make sure you tell us the locations we're in.
Sophia: [I'll do my best, Keiko.]
Keiko: Same with you too, Morgana. Ah...Morgana, hello? Hello?
He seems to be out of it with the Coco-Fudge treats of everyone else having it all over town but him to be, drooling? Now this was unlike him at all.
Sophia: [I take it they call this - "Being out of it"?]
Keiko: Morgana, please. Akechi said not to eat those.
Morgana: Huh? Oh, right. Learning rumors about Mayor Hyodo! Got it! I'm ready, Madame Keiko. Sophia. We need to know if Mariko Hyodo is the Monarch of this Jail or not.
Time for the investigation to begin, just without eating something odd of the fudges at all when these people are eating it with no end or don't care to be changing their figure looks either. Ew. Keiko with Morgana and Sophia walk around to see tons of people seeing posters of Mariko all over.
Ann: No celebrations here, Keiko. It's nothing but the mayor herself. Lots of people are staring at this woman unstop.
She was right. Just looking at the many posters of Mariko didn't look like a darker version of the mayor herself 'without others seeing this'.
Glasses Man: Mayor Hyodo...I can finally meet you at last...Oh, yes...You are all my hopes and dreams embodied!
Very messy to say those things.
Morgana: This guy's totally out of it...
Keiko: I can tell than sensing him out.
Morgana: Is he talking about going to the speech tomorrow? We'd better not let our guard down.
A whole lot more to be on guard at all times. Next thing, Yusuke text messages Keiko on something to read.
[Yusuke: Ms. Keiko, there's been an emergency. Please come to the vending machine by the pharmacy immediately.]
Morgana: Did something happen to Yusuke? We might wanna go find him!
On the way there while still working, someone answers Keiko's question about people loving their mayor so much to never end, for others don't even care about Mariko at all.
Keiko: (I feel something of a lesser thing coming from this woman.) Excuse me, but do you know about their mayor supporters here?
Cynical Woman: Oh, are you kids Hyodo supporters too?
Keiko: Not really.
Cynical Woman: No? You're only collecting rumors about her?
Keiko: Yes, and a friend knows of Mariko only.
She buys into it.
Cynical Woman: Is that for an assignment of something?
Keiko: It is.
This one isn't eating strange food or adding on EMMA to be normal.
Cynical Woman: Day in and day out, all I hear is the same old fanaticism. People won't shut up about Hyodo. They say she's as trustworthy as it gets, but I'm pretty sure she's hiding something. There's no such thing as an honest politician.
From posters and people to see the truth, the percentage of the rumors was getting closer and closer. With Ryuji seeing another ramen shop here...Again.
Ryuji: Yo, look at all the ramen spots they got, Keiko! It's crazy how they're, like, everywhere.
Morgana: Ryuji, eat after we stop this next Monarch.
Ryuji: Says the cat who likes the chocolate madness.
Morgana: Shut up!
Getting something to eat and still doing his work, Ryuji really does his best. Next Keiko sees an old man to like the mayor's work, to be a mindless slave here.
Old Man: Hey, you. Young lady. You're voting for Hyodo this coming election, arent'cha?
Keiko: Sorry, but my friends, fiance, and I are just visiting here during our summer break. We just hear a lot of this going on.
Old Man: Young people these days...Use this as a learning experience. Mayor Hyodo is a wonderful person! She'll be the one to guide Sapporo-nay, this country-perhaps even this very world to new heights! This upcoming election is the first step on that journey! Mayor Hyodo, Sapporo stands with you! Long live Mayor Hyodo! Glory to Sapporo!

Morgana: Okay...That was definitely not normal.
Almost close to getting a few more rumors now, with less of a speech the old man did there. And what of Haru? How was she doing?
Haru: A lot of the election for Mari-san is the talk of the town, for what I've been hearing all over tonight. I wonder...
A lot to be on the girl's mind, huh? Then Keiko goes to see what Yusuke wanted. Well, he was just standing next to the vending machines all weird-like more than his normal things he does.
Yusuke: ...
Morgana: What happened, Yusuke?!
Keiko: We came as soon as we got your text message. What is it?
But it had nothing to do with work here.
Yusuke: ...Look at this.
It's a canned juice, featuring milk and fish on the label...That was it?
Keiko: It was some type of drink?
Sophia: [Returning search results - This drink, called "Primordial Soup," is considered a regional specialty. They press the juices out of locally sourced fish and blend it with fresh Hokkaido milk. It's marketed toward men in particular.]
Now that sounded too gross to even drink the stuff. Well, others weren't to drink it and came themselves like tea with no stress at all. Hmmm...
Morgana: I dunno about all that...I'm just worried about the smell.
Yusuke: Who would invent such a monstrosity...? It seems Sapporo's culture is not to be trifled with!
Morgana: Sheesh, you got my hair all standing up for nothing. Anyway, are you done gathering rumors?
Not on his end after seeing an odd looking drink.
Yusuke: Not in the slightest. I was so taken aback that I lost focus. Perhaps I can recover if I offer this to you, Ms. Keiko. Please inform me of how it tastes.
An odd drinking soup for Keiko holds on to and smells really nice to taste a little of it.
Keiko: Mmm! Not bad. Thanks, Yusuke.
Morgana: It's that good?!
Now to get back to work again. What Yusuke gave to Keiko could be a useful item later on. Going over to Suzushino, Sapporo where Futaba and Makoto were at might've found something? Or one of them did?
Futaba: Sorry, Big Sis. I couldn't find any rumors online. Other than a creepy building Suzushino is haunted. Doesn't she?
Makoto: Futaba, please don't talk about haunted houses.
Man, she really hates scary things, huh?
Keiko: So nothing? It's okay.
Makoto: Sorry, Keiko-Chan. We'll see what Futaba and I can look into next. But there's a lot of beautifying the city a lot and campaigns, that's all.
Small things, but it was still good enough. Next area...From the North and South side of downtown, Keiko, Morgana, and Sophia found one last person to talk to...Some business dealers might give them one more rumor they needed. Well, he sounded a little sick since he might work for Mariko as a staff member.
Business Man: *cough* It's no use... *cough-cough* Must hurry... *wheeze* Need medicine...
Keiko: Excuse me, sir? Please hang in there. Do you need to see a doctor?
Business Man: I mean, I'd like to, but I don't have the time. I work the early shift tomorrow too...I need to hurry up and recover...Or at least get back to work. Otherwise the mayor's gonna be livid...
Yep, they got something here.
Morgana: Did he say the mayor...?
Keiko: I think he just did, Morgana.
Mariko was working her staff members to death here.
Business Man: Hey! Gimme all the energy drinks and medicine you got! I'm talking about emptying the shelves here!
Morgana: Is he being overworked like that city employee we saw this afternoon?
Keiko: If it is, then Mariko is working them to the bone with not a care of their wealth being. This is very wrong.
And to 100% to get all the rumor information written down, they did it.
Morgana: All right, we've gathered plenty of information. It's the same as Shibuya and Sendai. The more we hear, the more suspicious Hyodo becomes. Now we just need to get her keyword at her speech tomorrow. Let's all hope she has EMMA like Zenkichi told us.
Keiko: Right, Morgana.
Morgana: Let's go to bed early today and be ready for tomorrow, Madame Keiko. I hope we'll find who Hyodo really is tomorrow. Let's head back and go to bed.
Sophia: [Recharging mode for me.]

Keiko: (Heading back, we all rested up early for tomorrow...)
Heading back to the RV for Akechi joins with the others, same with Zen to run into one of the twins for Hans was talking to lots of random girls 'to not be for some of Mariko or the fudge at all' but to be upset with this guy. Ew.
Hans: See you tomorrow, ladies.
Bumping into each other, Zen planned it all out to look at Hans Guyver to be off about him 'even in his human disguise of Hirako Saitou, he felt something else.
Zen: Oops, sorry man. My bad. You okay?
Hans: I'm fine, officer sir.
Zen: So you can tell. Smart kid you are. Well, I hafta get going. Have a good night.
Hans: Same, I have to head back too before my dear sister worries about me again. (Enjoy your life of ruling over the law, mister, we will change it for a better tomorrow real soon.)
With Zen heading out for him to get something from his student/step-son Akechi to look up something from the Coco-Fudges.
Zen: What's this?
Akechi: Can you look this up in the morning and get back to me on what it is, Master? And whatever you do, don't eat it.
Smelling it to really be different than sweet.
Zen: Wow! Not the type of fudge I wanna eat at all. You got it, Goro. And good luck hearing Mariko Hyodo's speech.
Akechi: Thank you and please keep me posted like you always do.
Heading out now for Zen sees what he can find any science things from the sweetly food, and Morgana to be feeling different to happen in his sleep 'without noticing it first' while everyone in the RV and motel rooms were all fast asleep for some answers to get from the mayor's speech after hearing the rumors they could gather up as well. Back in the Velvet Room for Keiko, she and Lava talk to each other again about what's been happening so far.
Keiko: Hi, Lava.
Lava: I've been waiting for you. It seems that you and your friends are becoming much stronger.
Keiko: Thanks...We've been training a lot.
With a lot more to do as well.
Lava: I see. However, the shadow of calamity creeps ever closer to your path. Please bear this in mind.
Keiko: Question. How close is it? And what calamity is this you're talking about? (Maybe the Guyver twins and Kaguya ones too. With those other people behind this mess for what Kuon can gather for us and EMMA to have so much power, even Pandora's Box, the wielder, and Sophia...There's so much to still learn about.)

Lava: The twin girls and Loki have kept me posted. Guyver twins. Pandora's Box, the wielder, and a new Phantom Thief member on your side as an AI. Still...I only know that an evil is worming its way into being though I know not its true nature.
Keiko: The real mastermind...Mother.
Lava: Or rather, the ones who are controlling Mother. As for the topic at hand...I summoned you here to notify you about your powers of the wild card. It will grow more powerful the more you save and use their skills in battle. Hone these powers alongside the companions with whom you've formed unbreakable bonds, and prepare for the coming calamity.
Keiko: Well, this is new for what I have and what might be the true enemy's goal. Thanks, Lava, we won't let you down. Nor will Morgana.

The Strength
The design of this card is fairly constant across tarot decks. The key characters are that of a woman and a lion, with the woman leaning over the lion. Many cards, including that of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, have the woman clasping the lion's jaws. Some feature an Infinity symbol hovering over the woman's head. Other decks have the woman sitting upon the lion, or merely with one hand upon it. Some decks feature just one of the characters; flowers are often presented on this card.
According to Eden Gray, the lemniscate above her represents enlightenment and spiritual powers, whereas the lion represents animal passions and earthly cravings.
8 - August/10th/Thursday (Sapporo)
With Keiko getting up first for Sophia helps her out...
Sophia: [Good morning, Keiko. It's time to get up. Akechi is already up and the others are about too as well.]
Keiko: Yes, Sophia, good morning. I'm getting up...What's with this bag on the bed?
Pushing it off to hear a thumping sound, and someone was hurt.
Morgana: Hey!
Keiko: Morgana?
Morgana: Why did you push me off the bed?
Keiko: Why were you sleeping with a bag on the bed?
Morgana: There wasn't a bag...
Getting up for Sophia noticed something from Morgana first...
Sophia: [Morgana...?]
Keiko: What's up, Sophia...? WHAT!?
Shock to see Morgana was a bit bigger than he was this morning of a true fat cat in the real world of his form. He was all round-like.
Morgana: What? What's the matter?
Keiko: Ah...
Seeing from the mirror view, Morgana didn't like what he looked like at all.
Morgana: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Another new day, another Monarch to go inside her Jail for Mariko Hyodo was the next target once they get a keyword out of her from the speeches downtown today. And is it just me...? Or has some who are upset with Mariko as their mayor to love her too much have grown a bit from still eating nothing but the fudge thing since yesterday? A little weight to grow so much? Gross! With all of them standing around for Mariko to make the speech of the lifetime to still be running for mayor non-stop with no end. The same can be said on what happened to Morgana then, from one bit from the stuff? What was in the Coco-Fudge? Anyways, the Phantom Thieves gathered together to see Morgana wasn't looking so well right now.
Futaba: Wait...Morgana? Or Garfield?
Morgana: It is me...
Not a good reaction to be seeing Morgana this way.
Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, and Haru: MORGANA!?
Keiko: I don't know what happened. Morgana just looked like this since this morning. Look, Akechi-Cun said he'll join us and hear the speech on his way here. He needed to get something from Zenny before meeting up with us.
Sophia: [We will talk after the speech.]
Good idea. Let's hear what Mariko had to say to the people of Sapporo. As they see them eating more and more Coco-Fudge, the other Phantom Thieves might know what was going on and not eat this stuff at all.
Mariko: I'm sure you all are aware of the prior corruption that plagued our city council. Make no mistake, no one is more ashamed than I. As such, the ethics bill I propose will leave no more room for corruption to rear its ugly head. With your support, I will make this city of Sapporo a beautiful, stainless paradise! Like fresh snow on a midwinter's day! Together, let us turn home into a beacon of light to the world, where both citizens and government leaders radiate truth and purity! Now everyone, let's clean Sapporo up! And please enjoy some treats while we all do our best with the goodness of my heart, Coco-Fudge.

Trying not to rub it in, soon Akechi finally joins up with them to not know about Morgana's conditions yet.
Akechi: Hey! Sorry I'm late. Master found something big about these Coco-Fudges I need to talk about. I heard the entire speech too...MORGANA!?

Morgana: I know, I ate one and look what happened to me!
This has Ryuji and Futaba laughing to poke around with him.
Ryuji: Ha! Garfield in black 101, right here!
Futaba: You're still super soft and fluffy like this to touch.
Morgana: Quit it! I'm not a made up fat cat character either!
Akechi: So...From one Coco-Fudge turned him into this?
Keiko: Not as bad as everyone else here. I hate to see what the Metaverse version of their trapped Shadows look like, the ones with their Desires taken.
Still, from there and the speech made by Mariko was something else here, huh? They love this woman way too much.
Ryuji: All fat cat jokes aside, yeah. I mean holy shit...It's like we stepped into a cult.
Ann: Her popularity is unbelievable...Do you think everyone here had their hearts changed?
Keiko: And their stomachs grow within a day from the handmade treats? Yeah, probably, Ann.
Normal speeches from mayors is one thing, but this whole thing wasn't normal at all.
Yusuke: Crowds have a tendency to attract people. I imagine some of them came of their own volition.
Makoto: With the mess Morgana's in too, no more making fun of him. Got it? And Haru...
Yeah, she was going through so much on a family friend to be like this.
Haru: ...Mona-Chan, please stay strong. I'm doing my best too.
Soon Mariko shows and tells her next part to everyone for the others to see it too.
Yusuke: Look, Hyodo has her phone out.

True, but making a move right now and in public would be a bad idea to do.
Makoto: No, causing a scene here would only draw unwanted attention. I hate to say it, but all we can do for now is watch.
Akechi: Doing so would get us into bigger trouble. We'll do what the Phantom Thieves do best.
Keiko: It's for the best to play it safe than sorry.
They were right and they did get the keyword they needed to be Snow City.
Morgana: We can at least be glad we got the keyword. Now we can infiltrate Hyodo's Jail anytime we like.
Sophia: [The smell here in Suzushino isn't too strong. Getting inside the Jail won't be a problem.]
So be ready for anything.
Yusuke: So the preparations have been made.
Haru: Then let's go, everyone. If Mari-san really is the Monarch, only we can stop her. We can't let her toy with the hearts of innocent people.
And the Phantom Thieves are the only ones who can stop Mariko, her Shadow, and change her heart while also saving everyone's Desires.
Ryuji: True that.
Keiko: Then let's blast through this Jail, we'll stop her in her tracks, Haru. It's time to save Sapporo.
Morgana: All right. Then let's get ready and begin infiltration! I can still fight and fix this oversize belly of mine-!
Futaba: *ahem* Mona...

Morgana: I know that...! Yes, and the others who are affected too.
Keiko: Then let's do this. (People are filling out after the speech's conclusion...Time to make preparations for the Jail.)
Now before they headed to the entrance of it, Akechi needed to tell the others about the Coco-Fudge. If it's working hard in the real world, it'll be worse in the Metaverse.
Akechi: Now...Before we all head into this next Jail, I wish to talk about the Coco-Fudge from everyone's craving all over this stuff. Both Master and I have done work here.
Showing lots of paperwork on what Akechi could gather 'with Zen helping him out a lot since last night'.
Keiko: And what did you find, Akechi-Cun?
Akechi: Well, it was made by a human. With some Gegasite's blood in the Metaverse combined into something like a drug to a human being and their Shadows. This type is made from strong chemical to have some fat into something real handmade; some foods are put into it when delivering these things from Africa in their village to be shipped from the United States and to there, others who use it to have their fill of meals or other type of drugs is highly illegal in other states and countries all over the world. For some reason, one of the enemies who's aiding Mother and the Guyver twins are responsible scientists and Kuon herself said they stay away from it while Master and I stopped a lot of smuggling in Japan the most. Think of it as you're adding normal sugar, chocolate spice, milk, butter, eggs, flour, and the blood is a kick from the Gegasite to taste even sweeter. These people making them created a type of fudge, and one bit...Makes you get hooked on these things to not stop eating it and nothing else, and the more you eat or have at least one...
They put the pieces together...
Morgana: The more fat builds up like a lively virus...? No...
Ann: Ew! I would not eat it!
Yusuke: Then yesterday from the sneeze….
That's why Akechi did it to save Keiko and the others, but Morgana ate some by accident.
Akechi: Morgana, I am sorry. We will find something to cure you. And yes, I had to while others were watching so the rest of you wouldn't be hooked into these types of sweets. Turning all of the humans into gluttons worse on the Shadows in the other world; while in our world makes them gain weight badly within 24 hours. They will grow the more they keep on eating without stopping.
Futaba: Ah, I lost my appetite...
Haru: But why would someone to aid Mari-San's Shadow as the Monarch do such a terrible thing?
Almost makes you want to lose your lunch.
Ryuji: 'Kay! I heard enough, Akechi! Get to the point already!
Akechi: Right, my apologies. So if they eat more, then they'll die from a heart attack or blow up, more in the Metaverse by the Gegasites doing to eat, take their Desires, be brainwashed here, and become very unhealthy. With the Gegasite's blood, these are the other ingredients to the Coco-Fudge. Sophia, if you would please tell us...
Analyzing the data on her end to find the other things in it.
Sophia: [I got it. The other ingredients are...spice type – chocolate, flour, sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla flavor drops, chocolate pudding, and the final part is from a Gegasite's blood for they're very sweet from centuries again, something made of protein.]
And it says on the paper to read the rest of it.
Makoto: She's right...As they eat to love their mayor, this is what is making Hyodo gain more voters from her words and this type of food. With others getting nervous, stress, super happy, and some slightly mixed emotions, this is what the fattening kicks in.
Keiko: And there's no cure of this at all?
Morgana: Tell me, Akechi, please! My figure and good looks are on the line here and everyone else's!
Was there a cure of some kind?
Akechi: Judging by my Persona Loki, he must've noticed the problem already...Don't worry, we'll find it to work faster from one of the items we got from Sapporo. I know from a meal that looks and sounds bad, but it tastes good. We'll know which one it is when we infiltrate the Jail in a little bit. You have my word, Morgana, we'll change you back.
Keiko: Akechi-Cun does it again with his detective work. We'll get Morgana and everyone back and do what we do best.
This made him happy to hopefully wait for the results.
Morgana: Thanks, you guys...You're the best.
This made him cry a little with joy.
Haru: Then we will not eat any of the Coco-Fudge and try to see what caused Mari-San to act this way. For her, Mona-Chan, and the people of Sapporo. Let's get ready.
You all heard, Haru, it was time to get to work. Other than getting a text message 'with Sophia' to tell them the location...
[Sophia: The safest way in and out is near the crossing, where you can see the big sign. Once you're all ready, gather there.]
[Ryuji: Roger!]
[Makoto: We'll be exploring a new Jail...There's no telling what's waiting for us there. Let's be sure we're ready.]
Well, first off from Futaba getting some items to use of many different kinds at the drugstore...
Futaba: Hehehe...I always come prepared even when I do online gaming.
Having items, armors, accessories, weapons, other Personas on Lava's end just in case, having some real food at another ramen shop for Ryuji to try out a little with the others having a taste.
Ryuji: So good...! Keiko, make sure you make some during the trip, OK? Thanks.
Miso Ramen it is! And besides Yusuke sees how perfect the city is, no mess or anything to be too clean.
Yusuke: There's no such thing as being perfect all the time. It is fine being who you truly are.
And Haru stayed strong to help out Mariko from this behavior she was in.
Haru: Mari-San, please hang in there.
Good old Sophia's shop online came in handy again to also cook in the RV again.
Sophia: [Whenever you're ready to go, Keiko, please say the word.]
It was time as they all went to the streets in Sapporo North side of downtown, this was the perfect entrance of Mariko Shadow/King's Jail to enter right away.
Akechi: This is it.
Sophia: [Time to enter.]
With them going to the next Jail, the Phantom Thieves also transform too.
Keiko: Got it. Now then team, let's move out.
Akechi: I'm with you, Princess.

Keiko and Akechi: Suit up! Code names - Joker and Black Crow!
Morgana: Hope I can still look like me a little...Suit up! Code name – Mona!
Ryuji: Suit up! Code name – Skull!
Ann: Suit up! Code name – Panther!
Yusuke: Suit up! Code name – Fox!
Makoto: Suit up! Code name – Queen!
Futaba: Suit up! Code name – Oracle!
Haru: Suit up! Code name – Noir!
Sophia: Suit up! Code name – Sophie!
For them to enter and Hans was fully dressed to be his turn to the Metaverse next to watch on more from the Phantom Thieves' work 'with Zen to be on to them twins there with six senses of some kind. The ten entered Mariko Shadow's Winter Jail. And let me just say this right now, I hate the cold so much. Yeah, it was a bizarre real snow storm and down below degrees that made your entire body shiver. They were all feeling it right now. For the wind made it worse – Keiko and Akechi held each other, Futaba hated it a lot, Ryuji stayed strong; while Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, and Haru did too.
Futaba: So...cold...!
Ryuji: Can't...see...shit...!
Keiko: Black Crow...!
They were staying close at least to keep warm.
