I wrote this poem a while ago, while in the middle of writing a chapter of my Naruto fanfic "A Different Sort of Naruto". The idea just came to me, and I developed it into this. Definitely can be considered a partial Naru/Saku one-sided-love poem.
In case the title didn't tip you off, this is based on Naruto and Sasuke's battle at the "Valley of the End", and it is written from Naruto's perspective. Hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: Hey, I don't own Naruto; I object to slavery!
Light and Darkness - The Battle at "Valley of the End"
A ring of light,
A ring of darkness;
Never merging,
Ever fighting.
I stand in one,
You stand in the other;
Ever reaching,
Never touching.
My arm's reach - the reach of light,
Your arm's length - the depth of darkness;
Never closer,
Ever farther.
My eyes of crimson,
Your eyes of crimson;
Ever looking,
Never seeing.
My twisting vortex,
Your piercing arrow;
Reaching, touching, merging, fighting,
Closer, farther, looking, seeing.
My fate,
Your choice,
My future,
Your past,
My home,
Your prison,
My dream,
Your nightmare.
The one I love,
The one who loves you,
My love unspoken,
Her love ignored,
My heart broken,
Her heart torn,
My oath,
Her happiness,
My promise,
Your betrayal,
My parting gift,
Your hitai-ate,
A scratch,
A sign,
A message;
Victory could have been mine.
