"The Obsta-Kill Course" Total Drama: All-Stars Improved - Episode 11
(Narration from Chris) "Last time on Total Drama: All-Stars! For our real 100th episode, Ezekiel made a surprise appearance by kidnapping me and then trying to submerge me in acid. The campers went out in the rain to try and find me, before eventually stumbling across a cave where Zeke ambushed them with some hastily-constructed cages! Fortunately, Duncan was able to escape by punching through his team's cage after picking on Cameron for having a girlfriend who couldn't reason with a feral monster, and ended up going toe-to-toe with him and his friends shortly after! Fortunately, Brick found Zeke and handed him to Chef, but after that, a cave-in happened that led to Cameron getting injured! Duncan felt pretty bad after this, so after Cam got bandaged up in the infirmary, he gave a heartfelt apology and decided to move forward from his past mistakes by… Quitting the game? Eh, it's his loss- I- I mean, choice… But Cameron also had to go since he couldn't compete in his current state, and veteran competitor Cody was brought back to fill in for him! Wonder how that'll go… Stick around to see who's going down right here on Total! Drama! All-Stars!"
After the intro, the episode starts in the Losers' cabin where the Villainous Vultures were accommodated to after the previous challenge. Due to one of the Vultures, Dawn, being in a relationship with the person who was medically evacuated that same day, Cameron, the rest of the team simply stayed quiet so as to not make things more awkward. Dawn soon noticed this and told her three remaining teammates, "Uhm, I'm glad you don't want to make things seem awkward or anything, but I don't need any special treatment because Cameron was eliminated yesterday. It's sad that he left, but I can still compete for myself, and I can still try and move on from this even if it hurts."
The rest of her teammates looked at each other and nodded, with Jo awkwardly saying, "Uh, sure, whatever you say, chief."
(Confessional: Heather)
"Honestly, I can see either two outcomes for this: Either Dawn will end up like Sadie after Katie left in season 1 and be completely useless, or she'll pull a Zoey like last season and do… whatever that was… for the rest of the game. I'd honestly prefer the first outcome since then it'd mean I'd be one step closer to the million, but I digress."
(End confessional)
Meanwhile, in the Spa Hotel, Cody (the newest member of the Heroic Hamsters) entered the buffet to join the rest of his team, who weren't too shaken by what had happened to Cameron yesterday, but still ate quietly. Cody got some breakfast and sat down in an empty seat next to Gwen, and said to his team, "Uh, hey guys!"
The Goth noticed that he had sat down next to her and responded by saying, "Oh, Cody! Uh, what's up?"
"Not much, just felt like coming down to get some food. I hope you guys are doing well, yeah, given what happened to your friend…"
"Oh no, it's… fine," Zoey clarified, "But thanks, anyways."
"Oh, got it. My bad." Cody said as he returned to eating.
After some time, Mike asked the Geek, "So, did anything interesting happen to you before you came here?"
"Actually, yeah," Cody explained. "I was with everyone else on the Aftermath, and I did end up having to scold Sierra for her behavior in season 3, but I realized that she has problems, and she can still get better if she actually takes the steps she needs to get help. And thankfully, she has!"
Tyler nodded as he said, "Wow, good for you, man! I'm glad that girl's finally off your tail, she was really weird…"
"Yeah," Cody said as he rubbed his neck, "But after I got a call from the producers saying I was gonna join the show, that whole thing between the two of us back then was kind of a wake-up call for the way I'd interact with you guys. Especially with you, Gwen, since back then I was a little, um, you know…"
Gwen turned to him. "What? Oh, yeah, how could I forget your… fondness, for me? But you're not that bad of a guy!" She said as she finished a cup of coffee and put it in the sink, with Cody following her to keep the conversation going. "I mean, you did help me get together with Trent, and when you're not trying desperately hard to be a thing with me, you're pretty cool!"
"Wow, well, uh, thanks?"
"Eh, don't mention it," Gwen finished cleaning her dishes and returned to her team as Cody smiled.
(Confessional: Gwen)
"If there's another way I can describe Cody, similar to what I said about him before, he's like a little brother or cousin who's kinda weird and annoying, but in an endearing way, y'know?"
(Confessional: Cody)
"For my first full day here, things have been going well so far! Maybe even better than I thought they'd go…"
(End confessional)
After Cody and Gwen sat back down with their teammates, Chris got on the loudspeaker and announced, "CHALLENGE TIME, FINAL 11! IF YOU ALL COULD MAKE YOUR WAY OUTSIDE, THAT'D BE FANTASTIC!"
The scene cuts to both teams standing outside a field where a large obstacle course had been constructed, as Chris (who was wearing a military helmet and a pair of sunglasses) was just about to explain the challenge. "At ease, maggots! It's about time you all got here," he said as the teams arrived. "Anyways, listen up, worms! Chef's boot camp challenge in season one was tough, but this is season five, and things are about to get a whole lot more painful, with the Chris McLean Obsta-kill Course (trademarked)!" The camera panned over the obstacle course full of tires with flags at both ends. "To win this battle and avoid getting flung into the sky like a real-life game of Angry Birds, you'll first have to conquer the Tires of Fun (trademarked)!"
"And what is the 'Fun' part, exactly?" Heather asked the host. Chris simply chuckled and said, "Why should I spoil the surprises?" Not amused, Heather crossed her arms and groaned. The camera then panned over to a steep, wooden incline with five ropes on it. One was a normal rope, one was a slightly fuzzier rope, one was covered in a strange red substance, one was an electrical wire (sparks included), and the last was a rope of red licorice. Chris continued his explanation of the challenge with, "Get through them, and you're on to the Rope Slope! Some ropes are less reliable than others though, so choose wisely. But not too wisely, though, since that'll ruin the fun I'll have watching this!"
The camera then panned over to a jungle-gym-like ladder suspended over a small pond. "Next up, the Snapping Bars (tradema-)"
"Alright, we get it!" Mike cut Chris off in annoyance, much to the host's dismay.
"Why are they called that?" Cody asked.
"Oh, you'll see!" Chris said with a devious snicker. The scene then cut to the camera panning over an empty field. "And finally, you'll be on to a pleasant run through 'Duck and Cover'!" He made a side-eyed glare at Mike after saying this, before finishing, "Come out of that alive, and you'll be in for a real treat!"
"Really? That's our challenge?" Jo scoffed. "I know we have two ex-militia here, but this sounds like amateur hour for me!"
"Oh really? Well, in that case…"
Jo soon realized that she would end up causing something unfavorable for everyone, including herself, so she smacked her hand on her forehead, muttering, "Crap!"
Chef then tossed everyone backpacks full of rocks, with Chris saying, "Everyone has to wear heavy packs for this challenge! Abandon your bag and you face an even heavier penalty," He laughed as he continued, "Seriously, this is gonna be awesome!"
Everyone shot Jo a dirty look, with Heather growling, "Look, I'm just spitballing here, but how about for the rest of the season, you keep your mouth shut BEFORE THE CHALLENGE?"
"Hey, how was I supposed to know he'd do this?" Jo argued as she put her bag over her shoulders. "Besides, it's Total Drama; something like this was probably gonna happen anyway…"
While the Hamsters were getting ready, Brick explained to his teammates, "Well, Hamsters, given how I've been through military training before, I can assure you that this challenge will be a breeze for us!"
"You really think so?" Mike asked the Military Cadet.
"Uhm, yeah, well, it should be easy for me, but for the rest of you, just stay close by and try not to let these heavy backpacks slow you down too much!"
Cody raised his hand and asked, "Uhm, permission to speak?"
"Permission granted, what do you need?"
"Since I just got here not too long ago, are you, like, the team captain or something?"
Brick paused for a moment before continuing, "Yes, I appointed myself into this role since we didn't seem to have any other volunteers. But even then, I'd say I've been doing a pretty good job, right?" The other Hamsters collectively nodded in agreement. "See?" he then said, "I'm sure things will be perfectly fine, Private Anderson!"
"Uh, thanks?" Cody responded.
(Confessional: Cody)
"Self-appointed, huh? Well, that either means he knows what he's doing or he doesn't know what he's doing in the slightest. At least it seems like he does, though."
(End confessional)
Chef sounded an airhorn, and everyone was off. Brick and Jo were in the lead as they angrily stared at each other before a pole popped out from one of the tires, with Jo running right into it.
"Huh?" Brick said to himself as he turned around to see what had happened, but he then tripped into another tire that happened to have a fire ant nest underneath it.
"Aaaah!"
Brick started screaming as the ants were biting him all over his body. Jo ran by this, now with a giant red mark on her forehead, and mockingly told her adversary, "What's the matter? Can't handle some puny insects?" before running off. Brick wanted to retort in that moment, but he was too focused on the burning pain he was in that he simply got up while groaning and finished the tire section, the rest of his team behind him.
(Confessional: Brick)
(With tons of fire ant bites across his face and arms) "I know Jo gave me a lot of trouble last season, but I just wanted to make sure nothing too bad happened to her! (Points to himself) Brick McArthur leaves nobody behind, and that includes his enemies!"
(End confessional)
While watching from a TV at the finish line, Chris announced on a megaphone, "You dung beetles didn't think Chris McLean would give you a straightforward challenge, did you?"
"Of course not!" Gwen shouted while running past Brick with Mike and Zoey nearby, "That'd be too out of character for you!"
"Exactly!" said the host.
Mike realized that this section (and the challenge in general) would be right up his alter ego Svetlana's alley, so he told the two girls running with him, "I have an idea!" and stood back with a tense expression while clenching his fists.
"Is he trying to crap himself?" Gwen sarcastically asked Zoey.
"I doubt it, but I have no idea what he's doing…" Zoey responded.
"I'm trying to get Svetlana to come out!" Mike explained, before promptly switching into her. "Und I am here!" she enthused before leaping into one of the tires, which had a boxing glove pop out of it, and she jumped off of it and landed at the ropes course. Mike then regained control over his body and said to himself/his headspace, "Thanks, Svetlana!" before running towards the first rope he could find. He didn't think before choosing, however, and he ended up grabbing onto the electrical wire, with the exposed end electrocuting his foot and throwing him off the rope. "Oof!" he said as he fell on the ground. Zoey and Gwen then caught up to him, the former was soaking wet while the latter sported a black eye and dirt on her face. "Mike! Are you ok?" Zoey asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine, but what happened to you guys?" Her love interest responded.
"Those stupid tires happened to us," Gwen grumbled.
Cut to a flashback from a few seconds ago where Zoey decided to continue through the tires, but one of them had a button that, when she stepped on it, dunked a bucket of freezing cold ice water on her body. Gwen noticed the Indie Chick, who was a pale shade of blue and shivering harshly, and moved forward a bit more carefully, but the next tire she stepped on was simply a five-foot deep hole. A loud 'thud' was heard as Zoey peered down the round pit, still chattering her teeth.
"G-G-Gwen?"
Gwen irritatedly climbed out of the hole with her hands and feet at the sides of the sunken earth, but as soon as she got out, the next tire she stepped over had another boxing glove fly out and punch her in her face, with Zoey cringing as she looked on.
After this flashback, the scene cuts back to the three standing together, with Gwen wincing before she continued, "Whatever, let's keep going." The trio then ran over to the fuzzy rope and started climbing it. However, Zoey noticed something off about the rope, and she sniffed it, but this was all undercut by her sneezing and coughing.
"What is this made of?" she asked herself before coming to a realization. "Wait a second… Is this.., DOG HAIR!?!?"
"You'd be correct about that, Zoey!" Chris announced, "But don't worry, I didn't shave any dogs and neither did Chef. I know a guy who got the hair from a 'licensed' barber! So relax, I'm not some kind of monster…"
Zoey pointed her finger at Chris. "Oh, 'monster' would be the best way to describe you, you-" she shouted before letting out another sneeze, which made her lose her grip and fall off the rope. "Stupid allergies…" She muttered before getting on the next rope she found, which was the normal rope.
Meanwhile, Brick continued climbing the rope with the red substance, becoming curious as to what exactly this substance was. He licked one of his fingers and said to himself, "Is this tomato sauce?" However, while distracted, he ended up sliding down the rope a little. He then regained focus and finished climbing the rope, shaking the leftover sauce off his hands and looking out across the top of the rope slope to see where the rest of his teammates were. He soon noticed Zoey climbing the regular rope and shouted out to her, "Need some help?"
"That'd be pretty nice, actually!" She responded weakly. Brick then quickly rushed up to the rope and began pulling it up until Zoey could grab onto the ledge and pull herself up. Once she arrived, she said, "Thanks a bunch, Brick!" while wiping her nose, before she got down to the snapping bars.
Back at the top of the rope slope, Jo climbed up to the top of the licorice rope with Dawn in tow. She soon stopped and said, "Wait, this is licorice… Hm, maybe I should make this more interesting for the next guy here…"
"Do what you want, Jo. I'll just keep going so we don't lose any more of our team," Dawn responded before continuing the challenge. Jo then took a surprisingly large bite out of the licorice rope.
(Confessional: Jo)
"Man, I don't know when my last cheat day was, so I guess that's sort of a highlight from my time here! Not like there were many to begin with…"
(End confessional)
Meanwhile, Lindsay and Tyler were climbing up the licorice rope, but before Tyler could get to the top, the rope snapped and the two fell all the way back to the bottom. "Ow!" they both cried out.
"I'm good!" Tyler proclaimed, "At least I think I am…"
"Well, I think we should get back to doing the challenge!" Lindsay said as she rushed to the normal rope on the other side, with Tyler following her while rubbing his back.
Back at the finish line, Chris turned towards the camera and said, "Will any of our contestants survive the Obsta-Kill Course? Will the Vultures pull through despite the numbers disadvantage? And will I be laughing? Yes to that, but for the other two, stick around after we return!"
(Commercial break)
After the break, Cody gets to the top of the dog hair rope and sees the rest of his team at the Snapping Bars. "Looks like Cody will finally know where the 'snapping' part comes into play…" Chris announced as the newcomer ran towards his teammates. Brick climbed across the bars as a sizable bale of snapping turtles circled below him, eventually jumping out to bite at him. A nearby Alejandro took note of this and swung himself up to the top of the bars, climbing across with relatively no problem.
Back at the top of the rope slope, Tyler saw what Alejandro was doing and asked, "Wait, isn't that cheating or something?"
"I didn't say you couldn't do that, now did I?" Chris sarcastically responded.
Back at the snapping bars, Dawn was able to cross them with relative ease, only needing to tuck her legs into her body, as Jo eventually caught up to her. "I'm back," she said, somewhat out of breath. Another snapping turtle jumped out and latched onto her shoe, and while she tried shaking it off, she asked her alliance mate, "How are you making this look way easier than it actually is?"
"It's simple, Jo," Dawn explained, "Sometimes, being short can have its advantages!" Before she could say anything else, one turtle leapt up and got ahold of her low-hanging hair, and the Moonchild squealed as a good-sized lock was ripped from her scalp, before the turtle fell right back into the water. "Wish I could say the same for my hair…" she muttered, a singular teardrop slipping from her eye.
Jo simply shrugged as another turtle tried to latch onto her, but barely missed her head. "Short cuts have their perks, too." she said smugly to herself.
Meanwhile, Cody, Lindsay, and Tyler were all struggling with this part of the challenge. Even though Cody wasn't that tall, some turtles still bit at his legs since they were hanging about a foot above the water. "And you'd think being short would have some advantages…" He said to himself.
Tyler was much less lucky, however, as a turtle that had leapt out of the water latched onto his butt. He yelped in pain and lost his grip before falling into the snapping turtle-infested waters. The turtles all started swimming towards him, causing Tyler to panic as he swam towards the end of the water.
(Confessional: Tyler)
"Back in high school, I was on the varsity swim team, and it was probably the only sport I was really good at! I mean, how many times have you seen someone fall over while in the water! I just wish that helped me out during the challenge…"
(End confessional)
Since the turtles were focused on everyone else, Jo leaned towards Dawn and muttered, "Hurry, let's get out of here while they're focused on Sportaflop!"
"Hey! That's what I call him!" Cried a nearby Heather.
While everyone hurried to the finish, Lindsay became increasingly worried for her boyfriend. Once she got off the bars, Tyler was getting close, so she leaned down and extended her hand to help him up. This backfired, however, as Tyler accidentally pulled Lindsay into the water instead. "Sorry!" He cried.
"It's okay, Tyler," Lindsay responded, "But now how are we gonna get out of here?"
Brick was already heading towards the "Duck and Cover" section of the challenge, but he noticed some of his teammates were lagging behind and let out a heavy sigh before telling the rest of his Hamsters, "You all keep going, I'll catch up," and rushed to the scene. He reached his arms down to Lindsay and Tyler, who were both fending off against a horde of angry snapping turtles, and pulled them out of the water with ease. "Woah, uh, thanks?" said a surprised Lindsay.
"Don't mention it, now move out!" Brick shouted, startling the low-IQ couple before they got up and ran towards the rest of their team, with Tyler pulling a turtle off his butt.
As the three caught up with their team, Cody asked himself, "Knowing Chris, I can already tell that whatever's about to happen here isn't gonna be good."
"That's basically common knowledge by this point, Cody," A nearby Zoey pointed out before she yelled as she was struck by a leech. The slimy creature swelled up on her forehead. "Ewwww!" she cried.
"Oh yeah, forgot to mention," Chris said over the megaphone as the camera panned over to Chef with a leech sniper rifle, "This is Chef's favorite spot on the island for target practice. With leeches! So, you'd better duck, and while you're at it, you might as well find some cover!"
Dawn began seething at Chris' continued disregard for the island's wildlife. "How many more of these poor living souls do you need to torture just for the sake of temporary fame?"
"The answer to that, Dawn, is, 'Yes'!" Chris responded with a chuckle. Dawn was still fuming, but her anger was undercut by Chef shooting a leech onto her hand. She simply plucked it off and began running towards the finish line.
Zoey became even more grossed out at the fact that a leech had been shot at her, so she tossed it off and threw it towards Alejandro, the leech latching on as it hit his face. "Madre Mia, what is wrong with you!?" Cried the Arch-Villain, "Are you trying to give me a disease?"
While Chef fired a barrage of leeches at Alejandro, Brick dove behind a rock to hide from the crazy co-host, with some of the gross ammunition flying above his head. "And the Hamsters are back in the lead!" Chris announced.
Fed up with his team's losing streak, Alejandro rushed up to Jo and yelled at her, "This is for Justin!"
"Say what now?" Jo asked in confusion. Alejandro then picked her up and used her as a human shield against the barrage of leeches. "Hey! What the heck are you doing? Put me down! I go to church!" the Jockette cried while thrashing her legs and trying to wriggle out of Alejandro's tight grip to no avail.
"Get behind me, fellow Buitres Villanos!" Alejandro called out to Dawn and Heather, who quickly rushed behind him as he charged through the barrage of leeches fired at Jo (although a few landed on his hands), until he and the rest of his team made it across the finish line.
"And that's a wrap!" Chris proclaimed, "Thanks to Alejandro's quick wit and Jo's expendability, the Villainous Vultures are finally safe again!"
The Vultures were happy to know that their already small team wouldn't be getting any shorter, but Jo wasn't. She was flushed of color after being pelted by all those leeches, and after Alejandro let go of her arms, she flopped onto the ground, turned herself towards Alejandro, and muttered to him, "I… hate… you…" before vomiting all over his leather moccasins.
"Awww, asqueroso! Do you know how expensive these were?" cried Alejandro. "I'm never going to get this smell out!"
"Well that's what you get for making me your human shield!" Jo groaned as she got up from the ground, only to turn around and puke again.
Later, while the rest of the Hamsters walked back to the cabins, Brick turned towards Mike, Zoey, Gwen, and Cody and asked them, "Alright, who are we planning to discharge tonight?"
"I'd say either Tyler or Lindsay," Gwen suggested, "They didn't help much in the challenge and only slowed us down, if anything."
"Fair point," Cody then said, "But I think I'll go with Lindsay since Tyler and I are friends."
At the back of the group, Lindsay walked with Tyler and noticed her teammates talking about something. "They're probably talking about who they want to eliminate," she said.
"And it's gonna be one of us, I just know it," Tyler responded. "We both screwed up the challenge, and none of our teammates deserved it."
"I know, but we did try our best, right?"
"Right! That's what my coaches said to me every time I failed a big game for my entire team," Tyler rubbed his neck as he continued, "And there were a lot of times where that happened…"
"And there were a lot of times where I screwed stuff up because I'm du- I mean, because my brain's wired a bit differently," Lindsay changed the last part of her sentence so as to not sound self-deprecating, which Tyler appreciated. "And not only did it get me in jail that one time, but I also dropped out of high school not too long ago!"
"Well, I guess we both aren't the best at some things, now are we?" Tyler said with a chuckle, "But I guess we just keep going because it feels right, don't we?"
"Yeah! And it feels right knowing that we got to do this game together!" Lindsay beamed as she hugged her partner.
Later that night, at the elimination, all of the Heroic Hamsters had already gotten marshmallows to symbolize their safety, except for Lindsay and Tyler. "Gotta say, you two, I'm a bit disappointed," Chris explained. "I brought Tyler in because the fans seemed to like his thing with Lindsay, and then you two go on and screw everything up for your team! And adding onto that, it seems like you two even… Voted for yourselves?"
"We didn't want to vote each other out!" Lindsay argued.
"Plus, we kinda deserved it…" Tyler added.
"Well, that doesn't matter. What matters is who's safe, and the last person safe is…" Both Lindsay and Tyler glanced at each other with depressed, tired, and defeated expressions.

"Lindsay!"
"Really? Uhm, okay. Cool!" Lindsay chirped as she was given the final marshmallow, before the entire team's attention shifted to Tyler.
"Sorry we had to do this," Zoey said to the Jock, "You're a nice guy, Tyler, but you just weren't that much help for us, so we thought this would be for the best…"
Tyler let out a sigh before he said, "I totally understand. And… I'm sorry for not doing well in the challenge."
"Don't take it too bad, man!" Mike then chimed in, "You did win the egg hunt challenge not too long ago!"
"And you helped me and Beth take out Heather in the challenge before that one!" Lindsay mentioned.
"Oh yeah…" Tyler reminisced at the fun the three of them had in beating the girls' former adversary, while Heather rolled her eyes from the peanut gallery. "I wonder how Beth's doing… I'll be sure to say hi to her for you, though."
"And I'll be sure to win for you!" Lindsay enthused as she gave Tyler one last hug.
"That's what I like to hear!" Tyler responded before walking to the Sling of Shame, waving goodbye to his teammates while doing so. He got in without any trouble, and Chef fired him into the air as per usual. The scene then cut to the rest of the Hamsters watching him fly into the horizon screaming, while Lindsay tearfully waved goodbye. The camera then panned over to Chris, who narrated, "And Tyler has brought us to the final ten! Who'll make the cast decline to nine? Find out next time on Total! Drama! All-Stars!"

NOTES FROM AUTHOR: I'm glad we were able to get this episode out sooner than I anticipated, but since I'm going back to school next week, new episodes/chapters may not come out as frequently. Sorry :(
Anyways, our favorite dumb athlete from gen 1 has finally been eliminated! As stated plenty of times in the fic, Tyler was probably the weirdest choice out of all the characters to include (I mean, at least Beth was a finalist). While I did want to expand some aspects of his relationship with Lindsay (since Lyler is easily my favorite gen 1 couple and my second favorite TD couple overall behind Zoke), I really didn't have many other ideas for him outside of giving him a few scenes with Beth. Outside of that, he was a massive floater in my eyes, with me only keeping him in for this long to have more plot-focused eliminations take place.
But now that that's all done and dusted, I look forward to bringing you what's in store for next time, which is, spoiler alert: Another Aftermath! That might sound surprising given how SEVEN contestants have been eliminated since the last Aftermath, but everything will be explained once we get there. For now, I hope you enjoyed this episode of All-Stars Improved, and I'll see you all next time!
