Hello, I'm back! BTW sorry if the chapters sort of cut abruptly because the story was originally written as a oneshot, so there's a continuation lol
BTW, if this wasn't clear in the last chapter, this is a Beca/Calamity story so there'll be no Bechloe here
Chapter Two - All About Us
Leaving Spain was a huge relief, especially since the Bellas almost burned down DJ Khaled's suite, luckily the man was nice enough not to press charges but they were required to pay for the damages.
Beca left the bathroom in Italy, already in her military costume and hairdo, only she was having trouble keeping her hat in place. Chloe had promised she'd help her but when Beca came out of her stall, the redhead was nowhere to be found. She got out of the bathroom and tried to find any Bella amongst the crowd but the costumes were military, so it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
"Shit," she said, looking around the crowd, standing right outside the bathroom.
"You lost, Bella?"
Beca jumped as Calamity came out of the bathroom, also in makeup and hair.
"Jesus Christ!" she said, placing a hand over her heart. "Are you following me?"
"Since when it's a crime to use the bathroom?" Calamity said.
Beca didn't say anything, she just played with her hat.
"My friend Chloe was supposed to help me with the hat but apparently, she left," Beca said.
"I could help you," Calamity said.
"It's okay, I got it," Beca said, putting on her hat. "See?"
Calamity stepped closer to her and flicked the hat off of her head, giving her a knowing look.
"Where's your band anyay? The Always Wet?" Beca asked, picking her hat up off the floor.
"It's Evermoist, but your name sounds a lot sexier," Calamity said.
Beca huffed and looked at her in annoyance.
"Okay, please help me," she said.
Calamity smirked and nodded towards the bathroom, going inside.
Beca grabbed her bag of hair supplies that she left in the sink and gave it to the taller brunette.
"You won't even need to bend over for me," Calamity said, grabbing a hair clip and keeping it open between her teeth.
Beca rolled her eyes.
"Thanks, by the way," she said.
"You're welcome," Calamity said, putting in the first hair clip and grabbing another one. "Hot costume, by the way."
Beca looked at herself in the mirror and almost tilted her head to the side but the brunette grabbed her.
"Keep still," she said.
"Sorry," Beca said. "So, what's your real name?"
Calamity chuckled.
"Why the interest, Bella?" Calamity said.
"I just wanna.. I don't know," Beca said. "Is it like a big Federal secret?"
Calamity looked at her through the mirror, stopping for a moment.
"Maybe," Calamity said.
Beca rolled her eyes.
"I just wanna know," she said. "If you're gonna be all mysterious -"
"- It's Ruby," Calamity cut her off. "My name's Ruby."
"Oh," Beca said simply.
"And your hair's done," Calamity said, stepping back.
Beca admired the girl's work and moved her head around a few times.
"Wow," she said before turning around. She stopped when she realized how close the other brunette was still standing. She awkwardly looked up at her and saw her staring but couldn't read her face.
"Your eyes are blue," Beca didn't even realize she'd said until she heard Ca- Ruby chuckle.
"Yeah, so are yours," Ruby said. "Thought they were brown."
"Yeah, well, they're like.. Dark blue s-" Beca's ramble was cut she saw the taller brunette leaning in and her heart started beating wildly against her chest. She closed her eyes and could feel the other girl's lips against hers for a moment.
"Beca!"
The two bolted apart when a desperate Chloe came in, but she stopped in her tracks when she saw the two brunettes step apart and Beca avoided her gaze. She was silent for a moment before clearing her throat.
"Beca, sorry I forgot about you," Chloe said.
"That's always good to hear," Beca said to herself, hearing Ruby chuckle. "It's okay, Ru- Calamity helped me."
Chloe frowned.
"Calamity helped you?" she asked.
"Yeah," Beca said. "Come on, I bet we're next."
Beca linked her arm to Chloe's and left before the redhead could ask any questions. She was thankful for the distraction their performance brought and was yet again thankful when the Bellas were thrown into another distraction, so Beca could easily slip out and go to the hotel.
She walked into the bar once again, looking around, looking for one brunette in particular and looking for any Bella at the same time. She was relieved and disappointed at the same time as she ordered a strawberry mojito. She pulled out her phone and read a text from Chloe.
From: Chloe
Becs, where are you? Can we talk? x
Beca ignored the text and sipped her mojito, scrunching her face at how strong it was.
"Do you have a thing with bars? Or do you just never have company?"
Beca tried biting away her smile as she looked up and Ruby was sitting there by her side.
"Maybe I'm just looking for the right company," she said.
Ruby didn't say anything, she just nodded.
"Actually, I'm avoiding.. Someone," Beca said, looking behind them.
"If it's me, I'll just -" Ruby started getting up but Beca stopped her.
"No, not you," Beca said with a sigh as the brunette sat back down. "My friend, Chloe. The one who walked in on us?"
Ruby nodded.
"You guys have a rule of not fraternizing with the enemy or something?" Ruby asked.
"Well, no, what makes you think that?" Beca asked with a chuckle.
"The fact that you called me your enemy during our first conversation," Ruby chuckled.
"Oh yeah," Beca said. "Aubrey used to have this rule, but it was no sex with members of this other a cappella group back at Barden."
"I only said fraternizing, you said sex," Ruby said. "I like the way your mind works."
Beca felt a chill go up her spine as Ruby looked her up and down again before licking her lips and sipping her water.
"Why are you running from your friend, then?" Ruby asked.
Beca sighed.
"Well, to be honest.. Chloe and I share everything, we share a bed even back in New York and-"
"-She your girlfriend?"
"What? No! No, not like that, no, but she is like my sister and.." Beca sighed. "I've never.. I just never told her anything about.."
Beca sighed again, sipping her drink.
"I never told any of the Bellas that I.." she trailed off again with a groan.
"You like girls,"
"Yes," she said with a small voice before looking up at Ruby. "They're my family and.. I'm afraid how they'll take it."
"Isn't that short black girl gay?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah, but.." Beca said. "I just.. I've been struggling with this by myself and.. I'm afraid of how they'll take it."
Beca felt so relieved to share this with someone. Ruby offered her a sincere smile.
"I understand," Ruby said. "How long were you in this struggle?"
"Well, to be honest I had a small crush on Chloe for like a few months, then in my Senior Year this girl competing against us kinda made it all.. Confusing," Beca said. "Shortly after that I broke up with my boyfriend and.. I've been struggling to come to terms with this ever since. Around 3 years now."
Ruby nodded.
"That's recent," she said.
"Yeah," Beca sighed. "Seems like I have a thing for people competing against us."
Ruby chuckled and smirked, sipping her water again.
"You know you don't have to say anything you don't want them to know," Ruby said. "But if they're your family, they'll love you no matter what."
Beca sighed.
"You're right," she said, looking around but then she realized she was still in her military costume. "Shit, I'm trying to hide in this thing."
Ruby chuckled.
"How about we go change and meet here again for a drink?" Ruby said. Beca brought her drink to her lips and the two laughed. "Another drink?"
Beca swallowed and looked at the brunette.
"Yeah," she said. "Yeah, I'd like that a lot."
Ruby smiled.
"See you in a bit, Bella," Ruby stepped off of her stool, bringing her water with her.
Beca watched her go and sighed, feeling a lot better. She grabbed her drink and got up as well, going up to her room. She had reached it and was looking for her keycard when she heard the Bellas coming.
"Beca, there you are!" Emily said.
"You disappeared!"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm here," Beca said. She saw the way Chloe looked at her but Beca didn't feel like talking right now so she simply shook her head and was tremendously thankful when the redhead nodded in understanding.
Beca walked in and closed the door.
"What was that about?" Aubrey asked Chloe, who was still looking at the brunette's door.
"Nothing," she said simply, going into her own room.
I watched a bunch of Ruby Rose's interviews so I could have this dialogue in my mind, it works so well I can practically see her and Beca/Anna talking hahaha
Young & Hungry quote again (because why not?):
Gabi: So wait, let me get this straight, you're taking the thing with the most fat in it to a diet center?
Elliot: No, I'm also taking Yolanda.
