Death Gliders fired at the Tel'tak, now visible in space.

"Shields down to forty percent!" Lieutenant Patterson shouted, sat next to the pilot, while Lieutenant Colonel Scott was trying his best to escape the fighter crafts chasing their ship.

Another impact. Their ship shook. Patterson and Scott wobbled. The latter avoided a vessel, then, shouted, "Doctor McKay! We need a miracle! Now!"

"Control systems are falling apart!" McKay shouted, stressed. He was standing at a drawer of crystals, in the back of the ship. Some were shining, different colors, some weren't anymore. Same situation with the drawer of crystals behind him. Ford was standing at it.

Another impact. McKay clutched his drawer not to fall. So did Ford. The ship groaned. An electric discharge made three crystals on Ford's drawer explode. The colonel fell to the floor, unconscious. The explosion made Patterson turned to check what was going on behind. He saw Rodney kneeling beside Ford and checking his pulse.

"How's Colonel Ford?!" Patterson asked to McKay.

"Alive!"

Patterson looked back at the control panel. He warned, "Next impact will destroy us!"

"Jump into hyperspace!" McKay ordered from the cargo area.

Scott fired at a vessel and changed its direction. "Leave the battlefield? You're serious?!" he exclaimed and glanced towards the back of the ship.

"We're not leaving, we're stalling for time!" McKay explained, coming back to the front of the ship. Patterson left his seat and went to look after Ford. McKay sat. "All the systems are falling apart. It's a miracle we made it to here despite the ship's initial condition. We need to fix what can still be fixed. Being destroyed right now won't help anyone!"

Scott stared at McKay. The officer weighed the situation for a moment. A bolt almost hit them. Scott realized that the scientist was right. The aliens were too many. The team from Earth had no chance with a former damaged ship, repaired like it could be, then, being damaged again. They needed this ship. They had to stay alive, to find a plan and help as much as possible.

The moon was getting close. It was now or never. Scott pressed a button on the console panel. The hyperspace entry window appeared. A Death Glider behind Scott fired. The hyperspace window closed, taking inside of it the Tel'tak.

And the bolts.
