Jaffas serving Apophis were firing at two humans, in a corridor in Cheyenne Mountain. Sergeants Colby and Manning, behind sand bags, had been protecting for a while a room closed by an armored door and firing at the Jaffas with their machine guns. A third human, a corporal from the US Army, was lying on the ground, dead, next to the two survivors. Dead bodies, Air Force fellows and Jaffas, were lying on the ground between the two groups. The remaining personnel of Cheyenne Mountain had tried their best to stop the aliens on this floor and the few above and below. Unfortunately, the aliens were making progress. They were too many. While units were still facing resistance in the remaining floors being raided, others were settling down in the floors already taken... quite easily, strangely...

However, the situation was going according to plan for the thing the humans wanted to do. Colby and Manning had to keep the Jaffas away from the door a little more. Colby eventually fell to the ground, hit by a blast. Manning stood and gave everything he had with his machine gun. A blast hit him in the shoulder. He stood despite the huge pain. Only to be hit again and again until he couldn't resist anymore. Two Jaffas approached cautiously the room that the three humans had defended until the end. They gestured to their leader that it was clear.

Teal'c walked to the sand bags. The door opened unexpectedly. Teal'c's people aimed their weapons at the three humans in the room: General Lorne, Lieutenant Colonel Harrigan, and Technical Sergeant Hunter Riley. The three men were kneeling on the ground, weapons already dropped in front of them. Teal'c and his group were surprised by the scene, as they had expected to face resistance behind the armored door. Teal'c was even more surprised when he saw that two of the weapons on the ground were zat'nik'tels. Actually brought by Martouf, the Tok'ra, but Teal'c thought the humans took them when they killed Jaffas. There were also two laptops next to Riley, the screens were showing different parts of the base and the progress of the Jaffas. Finally, there was an imposing object behind the three men.

Apophis's First Prime looked back and forth between the prisoners. "What is the purpose of this room your people died for? Why were the other parts of this place not protected by your people?"

Indeed, Teal'c was also confused by the humans' strategy. Why let the enemy enter and just defend a part of this base? Why didn't these three humans stand alongside their fellows to fight? It didn't make any sense…

Nobody answered. Teal'c realized that the prisoners looked relaxed, not impressed by his god's army and power. No. These prisoners looked rather at peace with themselves. Like they knew what was going to happen to them and accepted it. Teal'c raised an eyebrow, intrigued. This attitude was something new.

Lorne eventually smirked. His response to Apophis's First Prime.

Then, a deafening explosion.

The Cheyenne Mountain Complex collapsed, leaving no chance for the hundred Jaffas inside. Apophis would never land on the mountain.
