Children Fear for Their Lives at Hogwarts

Many young witches and wizards currently fear for their lives at their own school, writes Rita Skeeter, Special Correspondent.

The cause of the children's fear is nothing other than a strange message on the wall stating that, "The Chamber has been opened. Enemies of the heir beware." Ever since then many students have been found brutally petrified.

"All these people have been petrified," says second year Slytherin Daphne Greengrass. "It's really scary."

Naturally, many parents will want to check up on their children to make sure that they have not been touched by the hideous culprit behind these crimes. "My mum sends me a letter every day to make sure that I'm safe," says third year Cho Chang.

But the question remains- who is doing this?

"Everyone knew that something like this would happen when Dumbledore became Headmaster," says Thomas Nott, whose son Theodore attends Hogwarts. "We should have prevented it."

Luna Lovegood, a first year Ravenclaw, offers a very different explanation: "It's probably a cross-eyed Wargleworm. They petrify people a few months before they eat them. It makes the eating process easier for them. They're endangered animals."

The most likely explanation however, is from Ernie Macmillan, a second year Hufflepuff: "It's Harry Potter."

This may sound ridiculous, as he is a twelve year old boy, but it is possible that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named transferred some of his dark powers to the dangerous boy.

In fact, says Mr. Macmillan, Harry Potter spoke Parseltongue to a real snake during a meeting of the school dueling club.

The snake was threatening a young Hufflepuff by the name of Justin Finch-Fletchley. Harry Potter approached the snake and began emitting strange hissing noises.

"It was as though he was egging the snake on," says Hannah Abbott, a friend of Justin. "I thought that Justin was done for."

Parseltongue is the language of snakes, a tool that You-Know-Who used often.

"We always knew that he was weird, with the scar and all," says Ms. Greengrass. "But we didn't know that he was evil or anything."

The most terrifying comment however, comes from Ms. Abbott: "Justin told Harry Potter that he was muggle-born. Then Harry set the snake on Justin, and now-" here she pauses to sniffle, "- Justin was found petrified.

Some, however, disagree with this obvious fact. "Harry wouldn't petrify anyone," says Angelina Johnson, a fourth year Gryffindor. "He's a good guy and a great seeker."

"Potters not petrifying anyone," says Draco Malfoy, a student at Hogwarts. "He's not powerful enough."

"These accusations against Mr. Potter are ridiculous says Hogwarts Deputy Headmistress Minvera McGonagall. "They are untrue and unbiased."

But we must keep in mind that Professor McGonagall is Potter's Head of House and might be trying to protect him. Many agree.

"Duh, she just wants to win the House Cup and the Quidditch Cup," says Slytherin Marcus Flint.

If Professor Dumbledore is already aware of Potters danger, he has done nothing to put a stop to these attacks. We can only wonder how much longer these horrifying attacks will continue before someone intervenes.

Until further notice, however, we can only conclude that our children are not safe.
