I woke up raising my head in confusion. I was in a classroom, but one I have never been before. In fact, how did I ended up here ? All I remember was entering Hope's Peak and passing out.

I picked up a piece of paper that was laying on the desk I just slept on. There was also a bit of drool on the desk. I picked it up and read it.
The next semester is about to start. Starting today, this school will be your entire world.

As I look up and got up from the chair, I could see… a surveillance camera ? And the windows were bolted shut with metal plates ?!
« Ok, ok… Calm down and think what have happened… »
I was at the main hall of Hope's Peak, I passed out… and someone dragged me here ? If so, I'm in a classroom of Hope's Peak ? But then, what's with the bolted plates on the windows ?
As I looked up, I noticed a wallclock, indicating it was now 8 am. Jeez, I slept for one hour-

« Oh shoot ! The entrance ceremony ! »
I got out of the classroom, and was greeted with a magenta light illuminating the hallway. I looked around, and eventually found a double-door entrance that was slighly open.
« That's the main hall ! »
I opened the doors, and was greeted by several other students.
« Oooooohhh ! Another student ! » A short purple-haired male said in delight.
« Oh… You guys are all… ? » I spoke.
« Y-yes… W-we're all new here… This is supposed to be our first day in class… » A shy purple-haired girl with some kind of apron replied timidly.
« So with him, we are fifteen in total. I wonder if they are more though ? » A green-haired male thought out loud.
So here are the Ultimate Students… I can feel some kind of aura coming from them… I shook my head and decided to introduce myself.
« U-uhh hey ! My name is Makoto Naegi. Sorry if I got late, I arrived here and somehow fell asleep… » I explained.
« Woah, for real ? It happened to me too ! » A pink-haired male with a beanie said in surprise.
« Hold it ! There's something more important we need to address first ! » A male in a white suit said out loud.
« Makoto ! Your tardiness is unacceptable ! You were supposed to arrive here at 8 am exactly ! I will report you, and you will have to accept any punishment given ! » He shouted, pointing his finger at me.
Then, a blonde double pigtailed girl went in front of me, as if to protect me.
« Hey, relax ! It's not his fault he had the same problem than us ! » She told him, frowning.
« Everyone calm down ! Instead of wasting our time arguing, why don't we introduce ourselves ? » A red-haired girl with a camera said out loud.
« Nyeh… Introductions… ? » A small red-haired girl with a witch hat replied sleepily.
« I quite agree. We need to know each other's names if we want to make any progress. » A blonde male in a white suit nodded, as he readjusted his glasses.
« Very well then. Let's get to know each other, and then we talk about how we got here ! » Another blonde female spoke. She seemed to have some kind of royale vibe.
They are right though. I should introduce myself more properly, and get to know them. Let's start with these five over there.
I decided to approach the guy who shouted at me because I was a little late.
« Ah, Makoto, was it? I would like to apologize for shouting at you not only because of everything that is happening right now, but also because I did not introduce myself back! I'm ashamed of not showing a good example! » He.. bowed to me ?!

He got up, feeling relieved.

The monitor shut off. No one dared to say a word for a couple of seconds.

We entered the gym, where the rest of our classmates were waiting for us.

Then suddenly, a black and white bear with an half malicious smile and eye appeared on the stand !
« A-a… teddy bear… ? » Mikan asked in confusion.
« Nope ! I'm not a teddy bear ! I am… Monokuma ! I am this school's headmaster ! » The bear now known as Monokuma declared.
« W-what the fuck ?! The bear just talked ! » Kazuichi pointed at it.
« Calm down ! It probably has a speaker or something, like a remote toy or something ! » Taka said.
« Oohhh yeah ! You're right, as the Ultimate Mechanic, I should know that ! » Kazuichi rubbed the back of his head in embarassment.
« How dare you compare me to a child's plaything ! It wounds me… I can't bear it ! » It laughed.
Most of us groaned at the pun, the rest like me remained silent.
« A-ahem, anyway, let's talk about your school life here. » Monokuma started, visibly annoyed no one laughed at his pun.
« You all represent the hope of the world, and to protect that hope, you will all live a communal lige together solely within the confines of this school. Now, regarding the end date for this communal life… None ! You will remain in this school until your death ! » Monokuma finished.
« U-until we d-die… ? » Mikan began to look nervous.
« Oh, don't worry ! The budget is enormous, so you won't lack anything ! » Monokuma tried to calm everyone.
« That's the least of our fuckin' worries right now ! No way I'm stayin' here forever ! You're either lying or joking !» Miu snapped.
« I don't know Miu… I can tell a liar when I see one, and this bear isn't lying. » Kokichi smirked at Monokuma.
« He's got that right ! What I am saying is 100% true ! By the way, I'm the one who took your electronic devices, so you don't have to worry about the outside world ! » Monokuma continued.
« So those metal plates on the windows… You put them to keep us trapped… » Rantaro took a step forward, being one of the only few to not panic at these news.
« Yup, yup ! No matter how much you scream for help, nobody will come to help ! So just relax here ! » Monokuma nodded.
« T-this has to be a joke… » Kazuichi lowered his beanie.
« Urgh, you keep saying this is a lie, or a joke. Well, you will have plenty of time to find out whether or not what I say is true. And eventually, you will realize I speak the undeniable truth. » Monokuma got upset.
« B-but… I can't stay here forever ! I have a kingdom to protect ! » Sonia said out loud.
« But you all joined Hope's Peak of your free will, didn't you ? And now you all want to leave ? But then again, I suppose there is a way for you to leave the school… » Monokuma paused.
« Really… ? » Himiko didn't seem to believe it.
« As your headmaster, I added a special clause for those who want to leave ! I call it… the Graduation Clause ! As I told you before, we all want harmony in this school, and someone who would disrupt that harmony would be able to leave. » Monokuma explained.
« I beg your pardon, but what do you mean by disrupt the harmony ? » Byakuya asked.
« Oh that's simple ! If one person were to… commit murder. » Monokuma smirked.
« Murder ?! » I finally spoke out loud after so long.
« Yup ! You must kill someone if you want to leave. It doesn't matter how, just do it, and you will get out ! » Monokuma added.
As soon as he said that, I felt a shiver in my spine and cold throughout my body. And I bet everyone was feeling the same.
« You know, you guys are the symbol of hope, but taking that hope and seeing it get murdered creates a darkened shadow of despair. » Monokuma continued.
« Enough of this ! Why do we have to kill each other ?! » Mahiru complained.
« Yes ! Let us go home already ! We are tired with this nonsense ! » Taka pointed at Monokuma.
« Nonsense… ? » Monokuma spoke lowly, making everyone shut up.
Then, his red eye actually glowed.
« Nonsense, nonsense, what do you mean nonsense ?! Stop saying nonsense about nonsense ! » It looked really upset now.
Monokuma paused for a moment, then continued.
« Listen here, from now on, this school is your home, your life, your world. Got it ? »
« Oh hell no ! » Miu snapped, and went in front of Monokuma.
« You stop this fuckin' joke now and let us go! » She said.
« Joke? What, you mean like your intelligence? » Monokuma smirked.
This was the final straw for the Ultimate Inventor, as she grabbed Monokuma!
« That's it! No one insults my golden brain and gets away with it! » She snapped.
« Waah! Violence against the headmaster is in violation of school regulations! » Monokuma flailed his arms around.
« Shut up and let us out of- »
A beeping in loop came out of Monokuma, and quickly went faster.
« Watch out ! Get rid of it ! » Kyoko told Miu.
« H-huh ? » She didn't understand.
« Throw it ! Now ! » Kyoko said out loud.
Miu didn't need to hear it twice, and threw Monokuma in the air…
And it exploded !
« W-what… ?! » Miu looked horrified.
« Wow ! It was a robot ! Keebo, we found your younger brother ! » Kokichi mocked him.
« Don't compare me to that thing ! » Keebo didn't appreciate it.
« So… does that mean the teddy bear is dead now ? » Himiko asked, completely awake and shocked of the explosion.
« I told you, I'm not a teddy bear ! I'm Monokuma ! » Monokuma reappeared on the stand.
« E-eek ! It's back ! » Miu panicked.
She legitimately looked scared, which surprised everyone seeing how arrogant and insulting she looked just a few seconds ago.
« You know, Miss Iruma, I was serious about trying to kill you. You did violate one of the school regulations, after all. I will let you off with a warning this time, but next time someone violates the rules, they will be punished, which means I will kill them. Got it ? » Monokuma was genuinely angry.
« I-I'm sorry ! I-I won't do it again ! » Miu shivered.
« H-hey… So does that mean there's like, a bunch of you more in this school ? » Junko asked worringly.
« Yup ! And don't forget the surveillance cameras ! I see everything, so I know if you will be breaking the rules ! » Monokuma smirked.
Everyone didn't dare to say a word.
« Finally, to conclude the entrance ceremony, I will give you… The E-Handbook ! Fully digital handbook ! It is extremely important, so don't break it and lose it ! Your name will be displayed everytime you start it up. And it resists any kind of damage, and is waterproof !
