Chapter 2 The Millennium Puzzle
Its been a month since Sean was found in the cave frozen in ice and now living with Korra and her family.
At first they were only going to keep him for a short while until another home could be found for him.
But after seeing the close and growing bond between the two they decided to have him stay having grown close to him as well.
And since these new creatures had shown up not just in the South but all over the world.
Though Most didn't seem to mind.
In the South some of these creatures actually helped out in daily tasks like at the docks with loading up supplies or helping with fishing.
Since Sean was found the White Lotus had been looking into the cave relentlessly.
But the only thing they found were more carvings.
Tenzin had tried to find anything relating to them but nothing came up.
Right now however though.
Sean laughed as Korra tackled him down before the same furry creature joined in.
"Kuriboh knock it off." Sean said.
That was another thing. Sean somehow knew the names of every creature that had arrived when he was unfrozen.
Tenzin and the others asked how he knew their names but he didn't have an answer.
So they figured he knew them by name perhaps from wherever he originated from.
The White Lotus however had some members who felt he should be removed since they feared what they didn't understand.
Those thoughts however were ignored since the Leader wanted to know what they were dealing with.
Also around Sean's neck was the same item he built when he first came out.
He didn't know what it was called but he said it was familiar to him.
Korra laughed as she buried Sean in snow who busted out.
"Very funny." Sean said annoyed making Korra laugh.
"Sean, Korra. Let's go already." Senna said as they rushed to her.
Heading into town to get some food for the night they noticed a small amount of the creatures around. Some just entertaining people others were helping with small tasks making things easier.
"Wow." Sean said amazed making Korra nod as Kuriboh squeaked.
"Ok lets go." Senna said as they went inside the store.
As Senna looked around for what she needed Sean and Korra were playing before Sean saw something else.
He looked seeing a family together laughing before he looked down.
"Sean?" Senna asked getting his attention. "Are you ok?" Senna asked.
"Yeah." Sean said walking away before she saw what he was looking at and sighed seeing the problem before they left.
When they did they failed to notice something looking at them from the top of the store and cackled lightly.
Later
Senna watched Sean outside while Korra trained with Katara.
"What is it?" Tonraq asked making her sigh.
"He's beginning to notice." Senna said.
"Notice what?" Tonraq asked.
"He doesn't have his own family." Senna said.
"Oh. We knew eventually he might ask about that." Tonraq said.
When they found Sean he had no memory of his life before being frozen other than his name and the names of the creatures that had appeared when he was unfrozen. No memories of any family or anything.
"I know but I hate seeing him like this." Senna said before Sean yelled making them rush out seeing him being held by some dark looking clown who laughed. (Saggi the Dark Clown)
"LET ME GO!" Sean yelled trying to get free making him laugh.
"Let him go!" Korra yelled trying to water bend him but he shrugged it off before flying away with him. "Wait!" Korra yelled.
"Korra stay here." Tonraq said rushing after him.
Sean tried to get free before bitting him making him yell before pressing a pressure point in the neck knocking Sean out before arriving at the cave where he was found.
When he was inside however someone was in front of him.
"I said I wanted him unharmed."
"Hey! Your little brat bit me. What was I supposed to do?"
"Saggi." The person said before sighing. "Whatever. Just give him to me."
Saggi gave him to who wanted him before they went in further.
"Keep them occupied for a short while."
"As you wish." Saggi said leaving for the entrance.
Tonraq along with the White Lotus and Tenzin arrived at the cave before Saggi came out.
"Where is he?" Tenzin asked.
"Sorry but this is a private party." Saggi said tipping his hat before Tonraq attacked him making him laugh before creating a dark ball of lightning and nearly blasted them with it but they dodged as he laughed.
Inside Sean was on the ground still out cold as the person who wanted him stood over him.
"I know it's not easy being here without us. But know this. I am always going to be there for you when you need me the most. And I will always make sure you are protected."
Thats when the person removed the back of his shirt showing something else only the adults knew about.
On his back were Five Tattoos of five body parts. Both legs and Hands and a head with a snake on the top of the head. And in the middle were the three carvings of the same kind in the room.
"And these will always keep you safe." The person said kissing his forehead before vanishing.
While this was going on Saggi kept the others busy before he sensed his job was done.
"I bid thee farewell." Saggi said vanishing.
"What was that about?" Tonraq asked as they rushed in.
Thats when they found Sean on the ground out cold before Tonraq picked him up.
"What was this all about?" Tonraq asked.
"I don't know. Perhaps they were looking for something." Tenzin said as they left before the same person appeared again before vanishing once more.
Days later
After that little incident the White Lotus added extra security around him.
Right now however though Sean was watching Korra train with Katara making him smile.
Senna and Tonraq were also watching before she looked at Sean.
"Are you sure no one was there when you found him?" Senna asked.
"Nope. Whatever that thing wanted him for might have been for nothing." Tonraq said before Korra sent a wave of snow at Sean.
"YIKES!" Sean yelled before both he and Kuriboh came out with the later squeaking while Sean frowned at Korra.
"Ooops." Korra said before giggling as her own little creature known as Ruby Carbuncle appeared on her shoulders.
"Mmm." Sean moaned as he glared at her.
"Ok I think thats enough for today." Katara said laughing.
"It's gonna have to end anyway. Look." Tonraq said seeing a storm approaching.
"Aww." Korra moaned before they went inside while Katara went home.
Soon it was dark our before the family heard howling.
"What is that?" Sean asked with Kuriboh on top of him.
"Polar bear dogs." Senna said.
"A whole pack of them from the sounds of things." Tonraq said before Korra started mimicking the howling making Sean roll his eyes before pulling her inside as Senna closed the door.
"HEY! I want to go play with them!" Korra yelled making him scoff.
"Oh sure. Play with the most dangerous animals we have down here." Sean said amused making her parents laugh.
"They don't scare me." Korra said crossing her arms.
"Nothing does. If anything you scare everyone else." Sean said making Senna cover her mouth as she laughed
"Hmph." Korra said.
After that the parents were asleep while Korra and Sean were asleep with Kuriboh and Ruby.
Thats when Korra heard the howling again making her get up without waking the others and put one some warmer clothes and went out.
Grinning she was about to run off to the howling when.
"And just where do you think you're going?"
Korra froze before seeing Sean in warmer clothing grinning at her.
"Come on. Lets go see them just for a little bit." Korra said making him roll his eyes but still smiled.
"Fine." Sean said making her smile as they rushed off.
Soon they came to a clearing before Korra took a closer look before seeing a Polar Bear dog pup walking alone making her gasp before rushing to it.
"Whoa hang on a second." Sean said following her.
"You're just a pup. Wheres your pack? Are you lost?" Korra asked as it growled.
"Korra. I don't like this." Sean said.
"We're not gonna hurt you. We're friendly." Korra said fishing out some fish jerky making it sniff it. "Do you like Fish Jerky?" Korra asked as it ate it. "Your not scary. Your just hungry." Korra said.
Sean laughed a little before bursting out laughing as Korra ran around like a dog around the pup.
Thats when they noticed the storm getting worse.
"Uh oh." Sean said.
"Which way is home?" Korra asked worried.
"I think we're all lost now." Sean said.
"Don't worry. I'll save us all. Because...I'm...The...AVATAR!" Korra yelled making an Igloo of snow before they went inside.
"Should have stayed home." Sean said shivering.
"Brr. Maybe some firebending might warm us up." Korra said taking a glove off.
"Wait..." Sean tried to say before she shot up some fire startling all of them. "That did not work." Sean said.
"Sorry. I'm not very good at Firebending yet." Korra said.
"You will." Sean said making her face him. "Given time." Sean said making her smile.
"I used to think being the Avatar was going to be fun but it's just a bunch of rules." Korra said before she felt something licking her hand making her look seeing the pup making her giggle. "That tickles." Korra said making Sean chuckle before they cuddled up around the pup who yawned.
Next morning.
"Korra! Sean!" Tonraq called out as he and Senna along with Kuriboh and Ruby were looking for them.
"Oh where are they?" Senna asked.
Thats when they noticed Kuriboh digging as was Ruby.
"I think they found something." Katara said before Kuriboh went in.
"Hey!" Sean yelled making them sigh in relief as Tonraq water bended the Igloo seeing the two with the pup.
"Hi." Korra said waving as he pulled them out.
"What were you two doing? Do you have any idea how worried we were?" Tonraq asked.
"I can't believe you two spent the whole night alone in the cold." Senna said.
"We weren't alone." Korra said as the Pup came out which surprised them. "Naga was with us." Korra said.
"Naga?" Tonraq asked.
"She got separated from her pack last night." Sean said.
"So she needs a new family. Can we keep her?" Korra asked.
This made both parents look at each other.
"Ask your mother/Father." (They didn't adopt him if some people are wondering just took him in)
"What kind of answer is that?" Sean asked.
"You two already have a pet each." Tonraq said looking at Kuriboh and Ruby who played with Naga.
"They aren't pets. They're friends." Korra said.
"And they don't even eat anything." Sean said.
That was true. None of these creatures seemed to eat.
Thats when Kuriboh jumped on Sean making him laugh.
"You know. Every Avatar has had an animal guide in the past. Perhaps Naga is meant for Korra and what a high energy girl like her needs." Katara said.
"Well...I suppose." Tonraq said seeing the three play making them smile.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt." Senna said.
Days later
Its been a few days since Naga was rescued and became Korra's animal guide.
Since then nothing much had happened.
Only more and more of these creatures showed up making life easier in certain ways.
Right now Sean was with Korra playing with Naga.
Thats when they noticed someone walking into their home.
"Who's that?" Sean asked.
Inside was Tonraq's brother Unalaq.
"The answer is no Unalaq." Tonraq said making him frown.
"You would deny her a teacher on spiritual matters?" Unalaq asked.
"She's four right now. If she wants to later thats fine. But not now." Tonraq said making him frown more before leaving.
As he was about to leave however he saw Korra and Sean playing.
But then he noticed the item around Sean's neck making him widen his eyes before approaching them just as Senna and Tonraq came out.
"Oh no." Senna said.
"Unalaq!" Tonraq yelled.
"Young man." Unalaq said gaining Sean's attention. "Where did you get that item around your neck?" Unalaq asked.
"Hmm? This? I found it in pieces in a container and put it together." Sean said making him frown.
"Unalaq." Tonraq said stopping him. "You need to leave." Tonraq said.
"Where are his parents?" Unalaq asked making Sean widen his eyes before looking down making Senna gasp before glaring at Unalaq.
"Nice going." Senna said taking the kids inside.
"What?" Unalaq asked confused.
"Sean doesn't have any parents. He just has us. And you need to leave." Tonraq said.
"Not until you tell me whats going on. Who is he? And why are you acting so defensive?" Unalaq asked making him sigh.
"His name is Sean. We found him...A month ago shortly after the White Lotus came to see if Korra was the next Avatar. Thats when that showed up." Tonraq said pointing to the cave.
"Whats in there?" Unalaq asked.
"All we found were carvings most of which match these new things that showed up. And that box that held the pieces of that thing around his neck." Tonraq said.
"I see." Unalaq said about to head into the caves.
"Hold it. I answered your question now you answer mine." Tonraq said.
"Very well. What do you want to know?" Unalaq asked.
"That thing on his neck. You know what it is just by your reaction. What is it?" Tonraq asked.
"If you must know it's known as Millennium Puzzle." Unalaq said making him sigh.
"Not this again. You're gonna go into another rant about these things?" Tonraq asked.
When they were younger Unalaq had studied ancient artifacts and these Millennium items kept coming up and became obsessed with them.
"I know what that item looks like more than anyone. And that is the Millennium puzzle. It's the strongest out of all seven." Unalaq said heading to the cave making him sigh as he walked off.
"Hmm." Tonraq said walking back inside.
When Unalaq arrived inside before seeing the carvings on the wall making him frown.
"So they finally have returned." Unalaq said before heading in further before he found the room they found Sean and the Millennium puzzle before he looked at the Coffin where they found him making him frown further.
"Just found him I think not. As always Tonraq you are misguided." Unalaq said before seeing the three carvings in the room and narrowed his eyes before leaving.
Later
"I don't like the fact he's taken an interest in him because of this so called Millennium puzzle." Tonraq said.
"But he might know more about it than anyone else and we need to know more." Tenzin said.
"Maybe but..." Tonraq tried to say before they heard Sean yell making them rush out.
Unalaq's men were trying to drag Sean away as he struggled.
"What are you doing!" Tonraq yelled.
"I'm taking him to the north." Unalaq said walking to them.
"Unalaq I am warning you." Tonraq said.
"You said you just found him. You never said where. You found him in that cave in ice didn't you?" Unalaq asked making him glare. "I'll take the silence as a yes. I am taking him to the North where he will be trained by me and protected." Unalaq said.
"Thats not your call to make. Even as the Chief of the Water Tribe theres only so much your allowed to do. And taking a child away is not one of them." Tenzin said as Sean struggled more trying to get free.
"I'm more than willing to take this to the Republic City courts and I will win." Unalaq said before one of his men having enough used Water bending to make a club and hit Sean in the head knocking him out.
"UNALAQ!" Tonraq yelled.
"I said I wanted him unharmed." Unalaq said.
"He got on my nerves." The soldier said about to grab him only for a hand to stop him making him look seeing one of the creatures with green armor on with a sword in hand glaring at him before pushing him back.
The other tried to attack but another with a red sword with a fire symbol on it got in his way before his sword caught on fire before forcing him back.
Thats when another with an Axe grabbed Unalaq making him gasp in shock.
"The boy stays here. And you are never to come near him again."
"But..." Unalaq tried to say.
"I repeat. HE stays here where he wants to be. AM I CLEAR."
"I...Yes...I understand." Unalaq said as Tonraq picked Sean up and glared at Unalaq.
"You ever come near him or my daughter and you'll regret it. Now you owe me some answers. What is he?" Tonraq asked making him frown.
"I don't have to answer to you." Unalaq said leaving with his men making him shake his head in disappointment.
A week later
"I knew if Unalaq found out about him he would cause nothing but trouble." Tonraq said to Tenzin, Sokka and Zuko.
"What exactly do you think he knows?" Zuko asked.
"I have no idea. I know he was obsessed with these Millennium items since he found out about them." Tonraq said.
"What are these Millennium items exactly?" Tenzin asked.
"I don't know the full details but according to him there are seven of them. The Puzzle is said to be the strongest. The others are the Millennium eye, The Millennium Rod, The Millennium Necklace, The Millennium Key, The Millennium Scale and the Millennium Ring. And if Sean does have the strongest he'll come after him again." Tonraq said.
"Is that why he tried to take him because he holds the strongest of the items?" Sokka asked.
"I don't know but I think theres more to it." Tonraq said.
While this was going on a large number of people had arrived at the Souther Water Tribe.
"Your sure he's here?" A woman asked with an eye painted on her head.
"He's here. We'll take him and the Avatar." The leader said.
Inside Tonraq's home however as Sean and Korra slept Kuriboh started acting nervous.
"Whats with him?" Sokka asked.
"I don't know. I think he knows something." Tenzin said making Tonraq narrow his eyes as they left.
Walking further out they found a large number of people approaching.
"Who are all of you?" Tonraq asked.
"My name is Zaheer and with me are P'li Ghazan and Ming-Hua. We've come for the Avatar and the boy. We know what he is." Zaheer said.
Inside the cave however three of the Carvings began to glow before bright lights shot out.
"You cannot hope to defeat us all." Zaheer said before they heard a horse neighing.
Thats when they turned seeing a man in blue and red armor on a purple horse charging right at them making them yell in shock before several people he hit suddenly vanished shocking Zaheer and his followers before another showed up looking more monster than anything before it shrieked into the skies before lightning ran down on them making more of them scream as they vanished.
Finally one in purple clothing appeared with a staff in hand before blasting the others leaving only Zaheer and the other three.
"Looks like our odds just went up." Sokka said before the last one got in front of Zaheer.
"You will not harm the last of the Guardians!"
The second one blasted Ming-Hua with lightning as her arms crumbled too dust making her scream in horror before Ghazan was also hit knocking them both out.
P'li tried to blast the first one but he jumped over her attack before hitting her down making her grunt as she was knocked out cold.
The last one blasted Zaheer down making him groan as he was knocked out cold.
"Wow and I thought Aang was powerful when he fought Ozai." Sokka said impressed before they began to vanish.
"Wait! What did you mean when you called Sean a guardian?" Tonraq asked the last one.
"In time you will know." With that they all vanished.
"How did they even know they were here?" Zuko asked making Tonraq frown.
"I have a good idea." Tonraq said.
Later
Unalaq grunted as Tonraq punched him in the face sending him crashing down.
Having been invited back down thinking he would accept his offer to train Sean but only got attacked.
"What is the meaning of this!" Unalaq asked in shock.
"You sent Zaheer and the others down here to kidnap my daughter and take Sean away! Don't lie! You were the only one besides the White Lotus and everyone else in this room who knew!" Tonraq yelled.
"I assure you thats not true." Unalaq said wiping the blood from his mouth.
"But you were the only one who knew what he was. So did they. A guardian." Tonraq said shocking him.
"How did...How did you find out?" Unalaq asked.
"These things whatever they are told us when they stopped Zaheer and his group. Now stop hiding the truth! What is he?" Tonraq asked making him frown.
"I don't have to explain anything to you. You would just mess it up like before." Unalaq said before gasping as Tonraq grabbed him.
"Don't Test me. Get out." Tonraq said as he left.
"He knows more than he's willing to admit." Tenzin said.
"I know. Whatever he knows he won't tell me." Tonraq said.
Authors Note: And with that the Red Lotus has been stopped by three legendary heroes we should all know and love. Now Next Chapter is gonna be very intense.
