Chapter 5 Power of the Guardian
Its been a year since Sean was taken to the Ancients world to train his abilities since members of the White Lotus wanted him dead.
Since then Korra had trained beyond her limits to make sure she never lost anyone ever again.
Right now she was outside her home holding her knees.
Today was the day that she believed Sean was killed by Obelisk because of Unalaq.
After what happened she told her Uncle never to come back since she blamed him for what happened despite telling both her and her father he had nothing to do with what happened.
Not that she believed him anyway since he tried on several occasions to take him to the North.
And she refused to be trained by the White Lotus since she overheard them saying they were glad he was gone into a rage and beat them within an inch of their lives if Katara hadn't restrained her.
So for now Katara had brought other trainers from parts of the world to train her.
Thats when Senna walked out.
"Korra?" Senna asked sitting next to her.
"Not now." Korra said as she held her.
"I know this day isn't easy for you." Senna said.
"I just miss him so much." Korra said.
"I know. We all do." Senna said.
However thats when suddenly someone stood over them making them look seeing some man in a tunic with some rag on his head.
However what Korra also noticed was he had some Golden Key on him.
"Who are you?" Korra asked standing up as Tonraq came out.
"My name is Shadi. And I've come because of you. You believe you have suffered a great loss." Shadi said.
"Think? I know I have. My best friend was killed last year. If you came to mock me then get lost." Korra said turning around to leave.
"That is not my intention." Shadi said as she walked away. "What if I told you Kruger is still alive?" Shadi asked shocking her and her parents.
"Thats not funny." Korra said glaring at him.
"I'm not trying to be." Shadi said.
"I know he's dead. I saw all that blood." Korra said.
"You saw blood...But did you see a body?" Shadi asked making her eyes widen.
"But...I saw..." Korra tried to say.
"You saw what his mother needed you to see to take him away for his safety. Someone had dark intentions for him so she brought him somewhere safe beyond their reach." Shadi said.
"His mother?" Tonraq asked.
"Who do you think had Sagi take him 6 years ago back to the cave?" Shadi asked.
"That was her doing?" Senna asked.
"She hadn't seen him in a million years. She's always watched over him." Shadi said.
"Where is he?" Korra asked.
"In the realm of the Ancients. Where those like Kuriboh and Ruby are from." Shadi said.
"Then why didn't he just come back?" Tonraq asked.
"It was not time. He needed to train with his abilities before coming back. That is why I am here. To bring you to him." Shadi said.
"How do we get there?" Korra asked before he held the key around him.
"Wait a minute. Thats a Millennium item isn't it?" Tonraq asked.
"Indeed. The Millennium Key. With it I will transport you to the Realm of the Ancients." Shadi said as they all vanished.
Appearing in the palace Korra and her parents were amazed.
"Wow." Korra said before Kuriboh appeared in front of her squeaking. "Kuriboh." Korra said hugging him. "I haven't seen you in a year. Do you know where Sean is?" Korra asked making him squeak before jumping away as Shadi vanished.
Kuriboh lead them to the Library seeing all sorts of books and what not.
"Oh my." Senna said seeing thousands of books.
"Someone kept this place up to date." Tonraq said before they heard snoring.
Korra walked to the source before smiling seeing Sean laying on the table asleep.
He was dressed in grey robes with a hood covering the top half of his face.
"Unbelievable." Korra said flicking his head making him snort.
"HEY! Who the..." Sean tried to say annoyed before seeing Korra grinning at him. "KORRA!" Sean yelled falling out of his seat making her laugh. "How the hell did you get here?" Sean asked.
"Some guy named Shadi." Korra said.
"Oh." Sean said rolling his eyes.
Later
"I really missed you guys." Sean said.
"So did we. So whats it like here?" Senna asked.
"Oh it's unique. Full of a lot of mysteries. And annoyances." Sean said.
"Meaning?" Tonraq asked.
"HEY BOSS!"
"Oh no!" Sean yelled banging his head down as a little yellow thing jumped on his head.
"Ugh!" Korra said disgusted.
"Hi, Nice to meet you. I'm Ojama yellow." Yellow said before Sean grabbed him.
"BEAT IT!" Sean yelled throwing him away as he screamed. "Thats what I mean. These annoying little Ojama brothers." Sean said making them laugh.
"So why exactly did they bring you here anyway?" Korra asked.
"Turns out you and I are more alike than I realized. While your the bridge between the spirit world and the physical world I'm the bridge between this world and ours." Sean said.
"Meaning?" Tonraq asked.
"I'm something called a Guardian. I act as living gateway for the Ancients to come int our world." Sean said.
"Why don't they just make one?" Korra asked.
"It's complicated. Short version is because of Bakura working for someone who could corrupt them if he managed to have a way here." Sean said.
"And he would turn us to his side." Mana said making her presence known.
"Whoa! Who is that?" Korra asked amazed.
"Hey mom." Sean said shocking her while her parents laughed.
"Yeah I can see the resemblance." Senna said making Mana giggle.
"So why did you take him away in the first place?" Tonraq asked.
"To protect him. Not from Bakura nor Unalaq though." Mana said.
"Then who? Those are the only two I can think of for obvious reasons." Tonraq said.
"From the White Lotus." Mana said confusing them.
"The White Lotus?" Korra asked.
"I admit some of them were difficult with him because they didn't understand what he was but..." Tonraq tried to say.
"Those some you refer to were planning to kill him." Mana said shocking them. "Because they fear what they don't understand. I saw everything and knew I had to bring him here for his own safety." Mana said making Tonraq frown rubbing his face.
"I knew something was wrong." Tonraq said as Senna held him.
While Mana was talking with Tonraq and Senna about what to do with the White Lotus Sean and Korra went off to look around.
"Wow." Korra said seeing several Ancients all around.
"Yeah takes some getting used to. Let me show you someplace I usually go." Sean said leading her away.
Walking to the mountains however they saw the larger Ancients all around.
"Whoa. These guys are huge." Korra said.
"Yeah these are God level Ancients. There are four types of Ancients that exist. The Low Level ones like Kuriboh and Ruby." Sean said making the former squeak.
"I kinda figured as much." Korra said grinning.
"Next would be the middle level Ancients. Fighters of sorts like the kind that stopped Unalaq from taking me the first time when we were little kids. Then there are high Level Ancients like my mother. They make the rules and plans for our world." Sean said.
"And the last one?" Korra asked.
"They would be known as God Level Ancients. Like Obelisk. I think you remember him." Sean said making her frown. "He made it look like I was dead to throw off the White Lotus and keep Unalaq away. Don't think so harsh of him when he was trying to get me out of harms way." Sean said making her sigh.
"Yeah still hated it though." Korra said before the ground started shaking. "WHOA!" Korra yelled jumping before Exodia walked by before seeing them.
"Ah there you are." Exodia said.
"WOW!" Korra yelled making Sean chuckle.
"Meet Exodia. One of the top God Level Ancients around. And one that only helps me." Sean said.
"Why only you?" Korra asked.
"Because he's only half human." Exodia said shocking her.
"Its true. The other half is Ancient because of my mother." Sean said.
"So your dad and your mom..." Korra tried to say.
"Not exactly. It's complicated. I'll explain it later." Sean said before she suddenly started to collapse before he caught her. "Oh I almost forgot. The first time you come here you only have a limited amount of time here. Humans can't survive here for very long because of the high levels of energy here. The more you come the more of an immunity you build to it." Sean said as they left.
Arriving back at the palace they saw Senna in the same condition.
"We were just about to go find you." Tonraq said.
"Lets go home." Sean said.
"I'll be checking up on you and taking you out for training every few weeks." Mana said.
"Bye." Sean said as they vanished.
Soon they arrived back at the north and Korra sighed in relief as she stood on her own as did Senna.
"Home sweet home." Sean said making Senna smile holding him close.
Walking into the home however they spotted Tenzin along with Sokka, Zuko and Katara.
"There you are. The White Lotus scouts said you all just...Vanished?" Tenzin said before Seeing Sean grinning. "How?" Tenzin tried to say in shock.
"Oh brother. I gotta explain this again?" Sean asked rubbing his face making Korra giggle.
Thats however when the White Lotus walked in.
"Master Tenzin we..." The Leader tried to say before spotting Sean. "But...How?"
"Get out." Tonraq said making him widen his eyes.
"What is this about?" The Leader asked confused.
"How bout the fact is your white Lotus was planning to kill me." Sean said shocking them.
"That is absolutely ridicules. We would never do such a thing." The Leader said while those with him looked nervous.
"Their expressions say otherwise." Tonraq said making him look seeing them looking nervous.
"What are they talking about?" The Leader demanded.
"We needed to remove him. He's a danger to the world!" One said.
"Wrong. I'm not the Danger. Bakura is. He came after me because I'm the only one who can stop him." Sean said.
"No! The Avatar can stop him easily! Master Tenzin you must allow us to remove him at once!"
"No. And you and those involved are under arrest for attempted murder." Tenzin said shocking them.
"NO!" One yelled charging at Sean but his puzzle glowed before the same purple smoke that sent Azula to the Shadow Realm surrounded him making him yell as he vanished.
"Care to try again?" Sean asked making them back away.
"The entire White Lotus will be put under investigation for this. Our trust in the Order has diminished to zero because of this." Zuko said.
"I assure you that is not necessary." The Leader said.
"Really? So what would you have done to him if I hadn't done that?" Sean asked.
"I would simply remind him it is not our place to make swift judgments." The Leader said.
"So you wouldn't punish him?" Tonraq asked.
"Well...No theres no reason since..."
"GET OUT!" Sean yelled shocking him.
"I think we need to consider if the White Lotus should still be around after this if a large number is this corrupt." Sokka said not amused.
"Now a wait a minute here." The Leader said before he and the other White Lotus members were restrained. "Who will train the Avatar?" The Leader asked.
"My mother will be doing that when she's around." Sean said before they were taken away.
A week later
Its been a week since Sean had come back to the Southern Water Tribe and since the White Lotus was put under investigation.
Since then the Whole order was fully disbanded since they found numerous crimes by the more arrogant members and more than half did want Sean removed because they feared what they did not understand.
So the world had no choice but to disband the whole order because of this.
Of course Tenzin and Tonraq secretly asked Mana to have some of the Ancients to keep an eye on Zaheer and his group since after they were defeated they were placed in prisoned designed to impair their abilities.
And with the White Lotus gone they took their place as the guards of Zaheer and the others.
Right now Sean was showing something off to Korra.
It was a special hilt that could take on the form of any weapon the Ancients used.
Currently it was turned into a giant blade used by the one known as Buster Blader.
"Wow. I can't believe you can use all these abilities so easily." Korra said.
"Hey unlike the White Lotus the Ancients make training look easy. Just wait till Mahad starts training you." Sean said.
"Who's Mahad?" Korra asked.
"My mother's old teacher who's also known as the Dark Magician. Believe me the guy lives up to his name." Sean said before they headed back home.
However arriving back home they saw Northern Troops outside.
"Oh no!" Sean said annoyed making Korra sigh.
"I'll give you one guess who's here." Korra said making him growl as they rushed to the house.
Only to be stopped by the troops.
"You two are not allowed inside.
"OUT THE WAY!" Sean yelled blasting them out cold before they rushed inside.
Inside they found Tonraq and Unalaq arguing again.
"Oh not again." Sean said making Senna sigh.
"He just barged in demanding you be handed over to him." Senna said.
"My answer is no." Tonraq said.
"You are in no position to reject my demands." Unalaq said.
"The hell he isn't." Sean said making his presence known.
"You were almost killed because of Tonraq's misguided nature. I will not let that happen a second time. You are coming to the north where you will be trained and protected by me." Unalaq said.
"My answer is no. There is no way in hell...I am ever going there. Why would I? A place where I would be miserable being treated like garbage by your spawns and the rest of the tribe." Sean said.
"I will make sure Eska and Desna understand they must treat you with respect or there will be consequences. As for the North the same goes for them." Unalaq said.
"No. Now get out." Sean said before his troops barged in.
"If you don't come willingly I can make you come by force. It's your choice." Unalaq said.
"No." Mana said appearing which shocked him. "The choice is both his and mine. And I say he's free to stay where he chooses." Mana said.
"But I can make him spiritually enlightened. I can train him to fully master his powers." Unalaq said.
"And did I say I wanted to be spiritually enlightened?" Sean said.
"You have tried on multiple occasions to force him away from Korra and her family for your own selfish means. You think because your the Chief of the Northern Water Tribe that entitles you to do what you want but its not. A true leader does what is truly best for his people because its the right thing to do not because he wants them to do what he pleases. Hence why the Ancients don't trust you." Mana said.
"But..." Unalaq tried to say.
"Further more you knew what Sean was the moment you laid eyes on him but instead of telling him like any decent human being you kept that information to yourself unless he agreed to do as you say. Why would I trust my son's future in your hands when you can't just say it for the right reasons?" Mana asked making him frown having no retort for that.
"Why can you not see I can bring him to greatness and achieve his destiny." Unalaq said.
"He doesn't have a destiny and there is no such thing." Mana said shocking him. "He's free to choose whatever path he wants. If he wants to stop Bakura and his darkness thats his choice. No one is forcing him to fight him. But you would out of some misguided principles." Mana said.
"Get out." Sean said making him frown.
"This is not over. One way or another you'll see I was right." Unalaq said leaving.
"Yeah right. That'll happen when the White Lotus get a second chance. Now beat it." Sean said as he left. "Even after a year he's still a major league pain." Sean said.
"Tell me something I don't know." Korra said.
Later
After that incident Sean and Korra were back outside with Sean showing Korra some magic he learned in the Ancients world.
Creating a massive serpent of Ice that roared in the air.
"Whoa. What did your mom teach you?" Korra asked amazed.
"Not just her and Mahad but several other Ancients as well. You have no idea how many that place has. It's like an endless space for every kind." Sean said.
"I'll bet. So what was it like learning you were half human?" Korra asked.
"Honestly I kinda felt before hand that there was more about me than it looked back then. The being Half ancient thing was a surprise though." Sean said.
"Not to me!" Bakura yelled shocking them both seeing Bakura again who laughed. "I've known all along who you were once we met again. I was under the impression another Guardian had been born not thinking it was you. But no matter. We have a score to settle." Bakura said.
"Your score or Zorc's?" Sean asked.
"Ah...So you know." Bakura said.
"Zorc?" Korra asked.
"The creator of the Shadow Realm. Bakura's master. This ends now." Sean said before a golden Object appeared on his right arm.
"So you have a DiaDhank. So do I." Bakura said before one appeared on him.
"What are those?" Korra asked.
"Think of them as like a way to summon any ancient I want. But Bakura can only summon that thing he used last time." Sean said.
"That and any other creature Zorc created. Now face the Wrath of my Diabound." Bakura said as it appeared before them but unlike last time it looked very different from before.
"Thats now what it looked like last time." Sean said.
"No? I thought you'd might notice. The More Chaos I cause the more powerful my Diabound becomes. Now destroy him!" Bakura yelled as it tried to blast him but Sean summoned an Ancient known as the Millennium Shield which blocked his attack. "Impressive. Most would go for offensive tactics by you went right for defensive." Bakura said.
"Brute force only gets you so far. Now." Sean said summoning another which turned out to be a dragon with white scales and blue eyes that roared.
"Wow." Korra said amazed.
"Meet the Blue eyes white Dragon." Sean said as it roared loudly into the air which alerted the tribe.
'Hmm. I didn't think he could summon God Level Ancients just yet. No matter.' Bakura thought as his Diabound roared into the air before blasting the Blue eyes only for it to fly off before its mouth began to glow.
"Let me show you what the power of an Ancient God can do. White lightning!" Sean yelled as his dragon blasted Diabound.
"AHHHHH!" Bakura yelled.
When the blast ended Bakura and his Diabound were nowhere in sight.
"Looks like it's over." Korra said.
"Not quite." Bakura said behind them shocking them before his Diabound blasted them sending them crashing to the wall out cold making him laugh. "Your mother may have taught you well...But not well enough. Now Its over." Bakura said as his Diabound powered up.
Only Sean's puzzle began to glow before a bright flash of light appeared all over the tribe.
"WHAT! What is this?" Bakura asked before a figure began to appear in front of them.
"If you think you can get to my son so easily Bakura."
Bakura widened his eyes in shock recognizing that voice anywhere as he fully appeared.
(Insert the music when Atem returned in Dark of the Dimensions Dub version)
"Think again." Atem said with his own DiaDhank on him.
"No...This can't be! THE PHAROH HAS RETURNED!" Bakura yelled.
Atem then used his DiaDhank to cal forth an Ancient as the skies lit up.
The ancient in question was known as the Winged Dragon of Ra that roared loudly into the air.
"Winged Dragon of Ra. Turn thyself into Phoenix form." Atem commanded as Ra turned himself into his ultimate form.
"NO!" Bakura yelled.
"Now Destroy Diabound with your might!" Atem yelled as Ra rushed at Diabound making it burn to ash as Bakura yelled before vanishing.
All over the Tribe everyone was amazed by the Winged Dragon of Ra as it reverted back to its normal form.
Sean groaned as he looked up before seeing his father who smiled at him.
"When you need me the most. I will always be there." Atem said before vanishing as did the Winged Dragon of Ra as Sean and Korra passed out.
(End Song)
Later
Sean was on the edge of a cliff looking at the ocean while holding his puzzle.
"Is he still in there or is this a link back to this world for him?" Sean asked knowing his mother was behind him.
"A little of both. As long as Zorc and Bakura are around so will he remain to protect you when he needs to." Mana said sitting next to him.
"My whole life since coming out of the ice I always wondered who you guys were. The lengths you both went through for me." Sean said making her smile holding him close.
"When you're a parent you'll understand you'll do anything for your children. It's the most human part of us." Mana said making him smile.
"Yeah." Sean said.
