Chapter 10 Spirit of Competition
Its been a week since Lin had attacked Sean to kill him so the Ancients would never come back.
Only for Reznov to show up and nearly kill her had Mahad and Mana not stopped him.
Now she was suspended from her job for 2 weeks with no pay.
Not only was she currently out of a job but her reputation had gone down hill as well.
Even regular citizens began attacking her at every turn and the Ancients did nothing.
Right now Sean was watching Korra and her team train while he and Reznov watched.
"So let me get this straight. They use their bending abilities for a sport?" Reznov asked.
"Yup. It's actually very entertaining." Sean said before the three blasted each other down making them chuckle.
"It's been great having you at so many back-to-back practices, Korra." Mako said.
"Feels good to be back. Though Tarrlok isn't happy about me and Sean declining his offer for the task force." Korra said.
"Hmph! It's his fault anyway that I got crippled by Lin in the first place. He can bitch and moan all he wants." Sean said.
"Hey, you joined the fire ferrets first." Bolin said.
"Yeah. Thats means you gotta commit." Yellow said making her scoff in amusement.
"Shut up." Sean said annoyed making Korra giggle.
"There you guys are." Asami said walking in.
"By the way Reznov how come you haven't shown up when we first got here?" Korra asked.
Korra had Met Reznov shortly after Sean came back and he explained about the Sentinels. There are only three of them with Reznov being able to summon Fiend type. The other two had different types they could summon.
"I was still training remember? And I didn't think there would be an event you two couldn't handle. Once Lin tried to kill him I had to get involved. I was very tempted to kill her." Reznov said.
"You know we don't do that unless the person is an absolute threat." Sean said.
"You don't kill?" Mako asked.
"Not my thing. I prefer sending people to the Shadow Realm." Sean said.
"What is the Shadow Realm? I don't get that." Asami asked.
"A dark place devoid of light. The very worst are sent there. Ancients have been doing that since they discovered it. Zorc is the creator of the place and Bakura follows him." Sean said.
"Speaking of Bakura where is that guy anyway?" Mako asked.
"No clue. After my dad showed up seven years ago he never showed up again. Most likely because he knew he couldn't get close to me as long as I have this." Sean said holding his puzzle.
"Anyway we better get going." Korra said as she, Sean and Reznov were about to leave.
"Actually Korra I wanted to ask..." Bolin tried to say before Black started bouncing on his head. "Uh what are you doing?" Bolin asked.
"Bouncing on your head. Whats it look like?" Black asked before Bolin pushed him off before trying to speak to Korra again but saw she was gone.
"Awww. Nice going." Bolin said.
"Wait...Do you have a thing for Korra?" Asami asked smiling.
"Yes and I'm trying to find a way to tell her." Bolin said.
"Oh thats sweet." Asami said. (Oh boy)
Later
Korra was helping Jinora and Ikki put some food in the feeders for the lemurs.
"So, how's it going with the tall, dreamy fire bender boy? You've been spending a lot of time together lately." Jinora teased.
"Ooh, yeah. Tell us all about the Magical romance!" Ikki said excited.
"What in the world are you two talking about? I don't have a thing for Mako. He's an ass." Korra said.
"Ooh, I just read a historical saga where the heroine fell in love with the enemy general's son who was supposed to marry the princess. You should do what she did." Jinora said.
"Guys." Korra tried to say.
"She rode her dragon into battle and burned down the entire country. Then she jumped into a volcano. It was so romantic." Jinora said. (How in the world does that make any sense?)
"What?" Korra said very confused.
"No, no, No!" Ikki yelled. "The best way to win a boy's heart Is to brew a love potion of rainbows and sunsets that makes true lovers sprout wings and fly to a magical castle in the sky where they get married and eath clouds with spoons and use stars as ice cubes in their moonlight punch forever and ever and ever." Ikki said swirling around. (She should have an award for saying all that without breathing. Lord.)
"Ok the Volcano thing makes more sense to me but like I keep trying to tell you..." Korra tried to say before they heard Pema making her face her. "Oh, hey, Pema! Uh, how long were you standing there?" Korra asked.
"Long enough. But trust me, I know what you're going through. Years ago, I was in the exact same situation. With Tenzin." Pema said.
"Daddy was in love with someone else before you?" Ikki asked.
"That's right." Pema said.
"So what did you do?" Korra asked.
"Well, for the longest time I did nothing, I was so shy and scared of rejection. But watching my soul mate spend his life with the wrong woman became too painful. So I hung my chin out there, and confessed my love to Tenzin. And the rest is history." Pema said.
"Wow." Ikki and Jinora said while Korra smiled.
"So just tell Mako how you feel..." Pema tried to say.
"HOW MANY TIMES I GOTTA SAY IT!" Korra yelled startling them. "I don't like Mako. He's just a friend...Who's an ass. Besides I already have a boyfriend." Korra said.
"Really? Who?" Jinora asked.
"Your joking right? It's Sean." Korra said shocking the two while Pema giggled.
"Oh." Pema said giggling.
"Sean and I have been dating for over a year. We just got close and well...Here we are." Korra said smiling.
"Wow. That is so Romantic. Falling in love with your childhood friend." Jinora said.
"Yeah." Korra said.
Later
Everyone was at the Pro bending Arena ready for the match along with Korra'a parents to watch.
"Folks, after a year of waiting, the pro bending championship tournament is finally here!" The announcer said.
Sean and Reznov were in the stands by the rails watching.
"This should be interesting." Reznov said.
"Introducing our first team, the Future Industries Fire Ferrets"
Korra and her team waved at the crowd.
When Korra spotted Sean she winked at him making him chuckle.
"And their opponents, the red sands Rabbaroos."
This was an all female team who looked serious.
"Oh this is gonna be easy." Sean said before the match started.
"What an explosive opening volley. Both teams quickly recovery and unleash a barrage of bending. I am astonished with the level of improvement displayed here by the fire ferrets!" The Announcer said.
Korra was quick to easily take out the other time without even trying in less than 30 seconds making the crowd cheer.
"Damn. She's gotten better since the last time I saw her last year." Reznov said.
"What did you expect?" Sean asked before they went down to them.
Arriving down below they saw only Mako and Asami along with the Ojama brothers.
"Hey. Wheres Korra?" Sean asked.
"She went off with Bolin. He's got a thing for her." Asami said smiling making him raise an eyebrow.
"You do know that Korra and I are dating right?" Sean asked shocking them.
"Oops. Did we forget to mention that?" Yellow asked.
"Wait...Since when?" Asami asked.
"Since last year. Korra's not oblivious but she probably doesn't see he's got a thing for her since she just sees him as a friend." Sean said.
"Uh oh. I wonder how hard it's gonna hit him when you tell him." Reznov said.
Meanwhile
Bolin and Korra were at small shop eating some artificial water tribe food.
"So, How do you like it?" Bolin asked.
"Mmm, It's delicious, and totally authentic. Man, I didn't realize how much I missed Water Tribe grub." Korra said.
"That's great, because this is my favorite joint. See, you love Water Tribe food, I love water Tribe food. Just another reason we are so great together." Bolin said.
"They are good noodles." Korra said slurping some in her mouth before she noticed someone looking at them. "Hey, who's that creepy guy over there that keeps leering at us?" Korra asking making him look.
"That's Tahno and the Wolf-Bats the Regining champs three years running. Don't make eye contact." Bolin said seeing the look on her face before Tahno stood up and walked to them.
"Uh-oh, here he comes. Now don't mess with this guy. He's a nasty dude." Bolin said before he approached them.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the fire ferrets. Pro Bending's saddest excuse for a team. Tell. me, how did a couple of amateurs like luck. your way into the tournament? Especially, you, Uh-vatar." Tahno mocked making her scoff. "You know, if you'd like to learn how a real pro bends, I could give you private Lessons." Tahno said pissing her off.
"You want to go toe-to-toe with me, pretty boy?" Korra challenged to his face.
"Go for it. Your little half breed freak isn't here so why not." Tahno said.
"Wanna say that again?" Korra asked.
"Korra, don't do it. He's just trying to bait you and we'll be out of the tournament" Bolin said before she smirked and brought her fingers to her mouth and whistled before Naga appeared in the window and roared making Tahno scream rather girlish making everyone inside laugh at him making him growl before running off with his team.
This caused both Korra and Bolin to burst out laughing.
Later
Korra headed back to the Arena before seeing her boyfriend by the entrance making her smile walking to him.
"Hey." Korra said kissing him making him smile.
"You might have a little problem." Sean said confusing her.
"What do you mean? If your talking about Tahno and his jackass team..." Korra tried to say.
"I don't know what you're talking about on that. I'm talking about Bolin." Sean said.
"Oh don't tell me your jealous I'm hanging out with another guy." Korra teased.
"Course not. I just learned from Asami that Bolin has romantic feelings for you." Sean said making her blink.
"What?" Korra asked laughing lightly. "No...He can't actually..." Korra tried to say before seeing his look. "Oh wow you're serious. I guess that explains the rose and cupcake he gave me. I didn't even think he had feelings for me." Korra said.
"Cause you see him as a friend. He didn't know we are dating and the Ojama brothers are idiots and forgot to mention it. Anyway we're gonna have to tell him and try to be gentle about it." Sean said making her sigh before going inside.
Later
Korra once again easily won her match against the other team by herself.
Right now she was heading outside seeing Sean looking at the water before approaching him.
"You were right. Bolin does have a thing for me." Korra said.
"Told ya. How'd you find out?" Sean asked.
"I overheard him talking with Mako and Asami about him telling them he's gonna ask me out after the game." Korra said. (By the way no they are not dating. I have something else in mind for Asami)
"Well, we're just gonna have to let him down gently." Sean said as she held his face before kissing him making him grin before looking up. "Uh oh." Sean said.
"What?" Korra asked before turning around seeing Bolin with some flowers in hand with a shocked expression. "Wait Bolin!" Korra yelled as he ran off crying before suddenly freezing on the spot by Sean.
"Ok." Sean said as they walked to him. "Lets get something straight bud. Korra and I have been dating for a year." Sean said unfreezing him making him shake his head.
"You have?" Bolin asked.
"Yeah. The Ojama idiots forgot to mention that." Sean said as Yellow appeared.
"Sorry Bolin." Yellow said.
"So you guys have been dating for a year? Why didn't you say anything?" Bolin asked.
"Why didn't you tell me you had feelings for me in the beginning?" Korra asked.
"Both of you are to blame. Just let it go. You got one more match before the finals." Sean said as they went in.
"You solved that easily." Mana said behind him.
"Eh. It wasn't really that hard." Sean said walking inside.
Back inside Sean was on the railing watching Korra's team easily take down the other team.
"So what happened outside?" Senna asked walking to him.
"Oh. Bolin had a thing for Korra and she didn't know till later." Sean said making her giggle. "What?" Sean asked.
"I certainly hope that didn't complicate things between you and him." Senna said.
"Oh please, I ain't some jealous boyfriend who tells Korra who she can and Can't talk to." Sean said making her giggle.
Thats when Korra's team won the match easily.
Heading down to congratulate them however a black beam hit him down to the Arena shocking the crowd.
"Ow." Sean said before Korra pulled him up.
"The hell was that?" Korra asked before a familiar laugh was heard making them look before Bakura appeared.
"Miss me?" Bakura asked.
"Ah hell." Sean said.
"Last time you escaped me because of your father. This time around I won't let that happen. Diabound!" Bakura called before his monster appeared looking more disgusting than last time. (Picture his 3rd form)
"Great." Sean said before his disk opened up. "sauropod brachion." Sean said before a dinosaur type Ancient appeared and roared at Bakura.
"HA! Thats no match for me! Destroy him!" Bakura yelled as his Diabound attacked the Ancient only to get smacked back. "WHAT!" Bakura roared.
"Sorry but my Ancient is more of the defensive type than offensive. This one on the other hand. Launcher Spider!" Sean yelled summoning a machine type Ancient that looked like a spider with rocket Launchers. "Blast him!" Sean yelled as it fired missiles at Diabound making it roar.
"You haven't come close to victory yet." Bakura said before a horse was heard making him look seeing a Pegasus horse with a sapphire horn charging at his Diabound and made a hit making it roar. "What? Where did that one come from?" Bakura asked only to heard Korra whistle making him look seeing the same thing on her wrest as well.
"You can't beat both of us." Korra said before Sapphire Pegasus landed next to her before summoning Amber Mammoth who roared.
"Grr. You two have become stronger since our last encounter. But no matter. You will not win this time around." Bakura said.
"Lets see you face off against a god level Ancient." Sean said before another image appeared on his disk before the room shook lightly. "Say hello to Uria Lord of Searing flames." Sean said before a large eruption of flames appeared behind him before Uria appeared and roared loudly at Bakura.
"This can't be! You shouldn't be able to summon god level Ancients yet." Bakura said.
"It depends on how powerful they are. Summoning Uria is easy right now. The others less so. Now attack with searing flames!" Sean ordered before Uria blasted Diabound making it roar before exploding making Bakura roar before glaring at him.
"This is not over. I assure you. As long as I live so does my Diabound. We'll meet again." Bakura said vanishing as the crowd cheered.
"You took all the attention away from me." Korra teased.
"Ha ha." Sean said making her laugh.
Later
Sean and Korra were back on Air temple island after that to recover.
"Now that was really intense." Sean said.
"No kidding. I wasn't expecting to see him again so suddenly." Korra said as Tenzin walked in.
"You both did well against him. Both of you have greatly improved over the last seven years since he last appeared." Tenzin said.
"To be expected. So what happens now?" Sean asked.
"For now their pushing the tournament back till next week to make sure he's not in the City. Better to be safe than sorry." Tenzin said before leaving.
"Welp. I'll tell you one thing. Bakura is gonna keep coming until he kills me and gets all seven Millennium Items." Sean said confusing Korra on that last part.
"Why would he need all seven?" Korra asked.
"Because he can't bring Zorc into this world without them. Thats how he did it the last time before my dad defeated him using the strongest of the Ancients. Until he has all Seven Zorc can't come back to this world." Sean said.
"I get it. Still I doubt he'll get them all this time around. We don't even know where the other five are. Shadi has the Key and you have the puzzle." Korra said.
"Yeah. Let's just hope we find them soon enough." Sean said.
Authors Note: And with that the first rounds of the Pro bending tournament come to an end and Bakura was defeated yet again by Uria the Sacred beast. Next Chapter the finals with something special in mind. Also to the guest who's constantly complaining yes I will block your reviews if they are overly Negative. Stop complaining and just go with it.
