Chapter 11 And the Winner is
Its been a week since the Pro bending matches with both the Fire Ferrets and the Wolfbats being the last two teams in the finals.
And since Bakura showed up again after seven years and tried to finish what he tried before only to fail since he underestimated how powerful Sean and Korra had gotten in the seven years he was gone.
Now Republic City was on alert for anything else Bakura had planned.
Right now however though.
Sean snored as he was in the gym while Korra and her team were practicing for the finals tonight.
Thats when Yellow jumped on his chest.
"Come on boss. Watch the others." Yellow said but he didn't move.
"I think he's in a coma." Green said.
"We need to wake him up." Black said before yellow started bouncing on his head before Sean's eyes shot open.
"FUCK OFF!" Sean roared making them scream as they flew into a wall from the roar while Korra giggled.
"Wow he really doesn't like them does he?" Mako asked.
"Nope. Their funny sure at times but they are overly annoying." Korra said.
"And forgetful." Bolin said glaring at them making her giggle.
Sean sighed as he tried to go back to sleep when Kuriboh started bouncing on him.
"Oh not you too buddy. Come on I'm tired." Sean said trying to sleep but he just kept bouncing and squeaking.
"I think he's trying to tell you to wake up." Korra said laughing.
"Ugh. Fine." Sean said sitting up.
"Whats got you so tired anyway?" Mako asked.
"I was training all night in the Ancients world with Mahad and my mother. After Bakura showed up again they stepped things up for both of us." Sean said.
"I'm just glad I have enough energy for tonight. Man I got a good feeling. I don't care what people say. We can take those jackass jerks." Korra said.
"It's going to be our toughest match ever, but I think your right." Mako said.
"Introducing the new champs, the Fantastic Fire Ferrets." Bolin said with excitement before the Radio got all fuzzy.
"Oh fucking hell." Sean said knowing what was gonna happen.
"Good morning, citizens of Republic City. This is Amon." Amon said.
"Here we go again." Korra said.
"I hope you all enjoyed the previous match involving the Pro Benders and the fight between the son of Mana and the Servent of Zorc. Because it will be the last. It's time for this city to stop worshipping bending athletes as if they were heroes. I am calling on the council to shut down the bending arena and cancel the finals or else there will be severe consequences." Amon said ending his message.
"That guy has got some nerve." Bolin said.
"He's asking for a beating is what he's doing." Black said.
"You think the council will give?" Mako asked.
"Only one way to find out." Sean said.
Soon the group arrived at the council chambers before Korra pushed the door open seeing the council.
"You all should not be here. This is a closed meeting." Tenzin said.
"As the avatar, and a pro bender I have a right to be heard. You can't cancel the finals." Korra said.
"I know winning the championship means a lot to you, but as far as I'm concerned we need to shut the Arena down." Tenzin said.
"What about the rest of you? Tarrlok, there's no way you're backing down from Amon, right?" Korra asked.
"Actually, Tenzin and I agree, for once." Tarrlok said standing up.
"The council is Unanimous...We're closing the arena." Tenzin said.
"No!" Mako said.
"You can't!" Bolin said.
"I don't understand. I thought you of all people would take a stand against Amon." Korra said confused.
"While I am still committed to bringing that lunatic to justice, I will not put innocent lives at stake just so you and your friends can play a game. That is the reality." Tarrlok said.
"The reality is if you let him tell you what to do you've lost all your power." Sean said.
"I'm not sure I follow." Tarrlok said.
"If you give into one threat he'll know he can give several that will be fake and you'll cave in. Giving him more and more power over all of you. The fact of the matter is you can't let him do so or you'll lose in a heartbeat." Sean said.
"I'm not gonna deny theres a lot of truth in that statement. What you say could be true. Nevertheless. I will not put innocent lives in danger just so they can play a game." Tarrlok said about to slam the Gavel when a metal wire destroyed it making them look seeing Lin.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but...AHH!" Lin yelled as Korra blasted her with magic into a wall.
"GET OUT!" Korra yelled.
"Uh oh." Yellow said hiding behind Bolin as did Green and Black.
"This is gonna get ugly." Green said.
"And Lin is Ugly." Black said.
"Look I get it I..." Lin tried to say before floating in the air before grunting as she was slammed down.
"Uh aren't any of you gonna stop her?" Mako asked.
"No." Sean and Tenzin said.
Lin grunted as she tried to stand before Korra lifted her up.
"You have some nerve showing your face after what you pulled 2 weeks ago." Korra said.
"Look. I get It. I screwed up. I had a lot of time to think about what I did and what could happen because of what I did." Lin said.
"Like you actually care. Not only did you make people trust the police even less but you tarnished your mother's family name by trying to kill someone who was innocent just because of your grudge. Not like you deserved what they get or your sister whoever that is." Korra said.
"Like I said. I know I screwed up." Lin said.
"But I don't hear no fucking apology." Sean said.
"I don't give those." Lin said before grunting as Korra punched her down.
"Big fucking surprise."
Sean and Korra looked seeing a girl about Sean's age with brown hair in a pony tail white skin and brown eyes with glasses on with blue robes.
"Hey Julia." Sean said seeing another Sentinel.
"Another Sentinel?" Tarrlok asked.
"Yup. Just like me she can summon one type of Ancient without the disks. She can summon spellcaster types like Mahad and Mana." Reznov said.
"Now what do you want Lin? Don't waste our time." Tenzin said as she stood up.
"I expected this kind of cut and run from Tenzin, but the rest of you? Come on, show a little more backbone. It's time the benders of this city displayed some strength and unity against these equalists." Lin said.
"We must prevent the conflict between benders and non-benders from esclating into all-out War." Tenzin said.
"A little late for that. Amon views all Benders as his enemy. Only reason he hasn't gone after innocent ones is because he knows the Ancients won't allow it." Sean said.
"We're already at war with them. Just not officially is all." Lin said.
"The council is not changing it's decision." Tenzin said.
"Now, Just a moment, Tenzin. Let us hear what our esteemed chief of police has in mind." Tarrlok said making him frown.
"If you keep the Arena open, my metalbenders and I will provide extra security during the championship match. Theres no better force to deal with the chi-blockers. Our armor is impervious to their attacks." Lin said.
"And what of the Ancients? Will any of them aid the police?" Tarrlok asked.
"No. It would make them look like playing favorites like you do." Sean said making him frown at that.
"Would you still support Chief Beifong's plan?" Tarrlok asked.
"Fucking hell no." Sean said shocking her. "Like I'm gonna support the dumb hag who crippled me and said she was gonna enjoy it and doesn't even have the decency to apologize like a fucking normal human being. Hell I wouldn't lose any sleep if she lost her damn bending. I would actually help him on that regard." Sean said shocking her further.
"Ok enough." Korra said.
"Well either way if she can keep the people in the stands safe I will support her. I am changing my vote. All in favor?" Tarrlok asked making all but Tenzin agree before the Gavel slammed down. "The Arena stays open. Goof luck in the finals." Tarrlok said making the group cheer.
Later
"Well, I guess that went well." Lin said to Tenzin.
"I don't want to hear it." Tenzin said walking away.
"Hold up." Lin said stopping him. "Look I get it. What I did was over the line. I was just..." Lin tried to say.
"Taking your frustrations out on him for no reason other than because the Ancients got what you wanted from your mother. It's called being petty." Tenzin said making her sigh.
"I know...I did a lot of thinking while I was on leave because of what I did. My mother would have been beyond disappointed and no doubt and thrown me off the force without a second thought. Not that I would blame her. And him bringing my sister into it drove me into a rage." Lin said.
"And took it all out on him." Tenzin said.
"I know. Look I'll have my officers all over the place." Lin said.
"To stop Amon or to ambush him again?" Tenzin asked shocking her.
"Have you seriously lost that much trust in me?" Lin asked.
"I will never trust you again." Tenzin said shocking her further. "You blatantly disobeyed my wishes for you to leave him be and crippled him in front of a room full of nobles. Tried constantly to convince the council to send assassins to have him killed while he was in the South training. Didn't care about how the people felt about them even though they made life a lot easier and you still wanted them gone. You think I'm ever gonna trust you again?" Tenzin asked making her sigh before leaving passing Sean and Korra with the Last bumping into her hard making her sigh.
"She royally pisses me off." Korra said.
"I've known Lin since we were children. She's always been...Challenging." Tenzin said.
"The hell did your father do to make her hate the Avatar and everyone else so much?" Korra asked.
"My Father and Lin got along famously. I'm afraid her issues are with me." Tenzin said uncomfortable before Korra widened her eyes.
"Wait a second. It all makes sense now. You and Beifong, Beifong and you. You two were a couple." Korra said shocking him.
"WHAT! Uh...WHERE'D YOU GET THAT IDEA!" Tenzin yelled.
"HA! Your wife." Korra said making Sean widen his eyes.
"You have got to be fucking Kidding me!" Sean said.
"Criminy! I'll have to have a word with her." Tenzin said.
"So Peme stole you from Beifong? I'm surprised our esteemed chief of police didn't throw her in jail." Korra said smirking.
"Oh she tried. Anyway, Peme didn't STEAL me, Lin and I had been growing apart for some time. We both had different goals in life...WHY AM I EVEN TELLING YOU THIS! It all happened a long time ago, and we've moved past it." Tenzin said making her smirk.
"Apparently not if current events are any indication." Sean said.
"What are you...Of course she has. Anyway, this is none of your business!" Tenzin said walking away.
"See you at home mister Heartbreaker." Korra teased making her and Sean laugh.
"Oh thats just a sad pairing. Just imagine if they had kids." Sean said making her shudder before they left to get ready for the game tonight.
Later
Soon everyone was at the Arena for the finals.
And Lin's officers were all over the place.
Sean right now was talking with Reznov and Julia.
"I still think maybe we should get some of the Ancients involved." Reznov said.
"We'll only do that if innocent people are actually hurt. Amon knows if that happens he won't stand a chance." Sean said.
"True. Still we'll be ready if that does happen." Julia said as they left.
Soon enough the final round was about to begin.
"The anticipation of palpable as we are just moments away from the championship match. Will the Wolf-Bat's ferocity help them repeat as champs, or will the underdog fire ferrets serve up a surprising bowl of smackdown soup?" The Announcer said.
Sean, Reznov and Julia were in the stands keeping a close eye on everything.
"Introducing the Challengers, The Future Industries Fire Ferrets!"
Korra and her team were the first to arrive in the Arena as the crowd cheered wildly.
"Almost reminds me of the battle arena in the Ancients world to see who was the strongest for Warriors." Reznov said.
"Now introducing the Three Time defending champions, The White falls Wolf-Bats!"
Tahno in his team arrived in costumes with him looking the most Smug.
"Maybe he's somehow related to Bakura." Julia said.
"Now theres a scary thought." Reznov said.
"The Champs and the Challengers face off at the center of the line. And here we go!"
Once the match began however though it was clear that Tahno and his team were clearly cheating at every turn but the Ref wasn't calling it making Sean narrow his eyes.
"Now why they not call that?" Reznov asked making Sean sigh before vanishing.
Korra growled as while Tahno and his team were cheating was managing to hold her own.
That is until the Ref called her out saying she was cheating.
"WHAT!" Korra yelled before he yelled as Sean appeared behind him.
"You wanna explain what you're doing? I know the rules. She isn't cheating those guys are." Sean said.
"Buzz off. And get out of my face you freak." The Ref said before a large Ancient known as Spiral serpent appeared and glared at him.
"Wanna try again?" Sean asked making him tremble as the Ancient growled at him.
"OK! THEY PAID ME OFF TO LET THEM CHEAT! THEY DO THIS EVERY GAME! EVERY YEAR!"
This made the crowd gasp in shock while Tahno looked ticked off.
"What a shock." Korra said.
"Well, folks it's clear the Wolfbats are out of the game for cheating and bribing and will most likely be placed under arrest for this. Maybe we should have the Ancients monitor the games from now on. The Winner by default are the Fire Ferrets." The Announcer said making the crowd cheer.
Tahno looked livid before Sean jumped down to Korra and her team.
"I can't say I'm surprised those guys cheated." Korra said.
"Well I had a feeling since..." Sean tried to say before an earth disk hit him making him grunt before looking back seeing them glaring at him.
"I'll kill you!" Tahno yelled before they suddenly froze.
"Please. I get more of a challenge from fighting a low level Ancient. Your not worth my time in a fight." Sean said walking to them.
"So what are you gonna do freak? Kill me? Give me some lecture like Amon would? I can do whatever I want with my bending." Tahno said mockingly.
"Is that so? Well then. I'll just be taking it away." Sean said shocking him and the crowd.
"N-No! You can't do that! Only Amon and the Avatar can." Tahno stuttered.
"Clearly you don't realize how powerful the Ancients are. And I'm half." Sean said as a magic circle appeared under him.
"NO! PLEASE! I'LL NEVER CHEAT AGAIN! I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT JUST PLEASE DON'T TAKE MY BENDING!" Tahno screamed before it glowed as he groaned before being released and tried to bend. "NO!" Tahno sobbed.
"Serves you right. Now as for you fuckers." Sean said doing the same thing to them before their bending was also taken much to their horror.
"That was harsh. Deserving but harsh." Korra said.
"Eventually the Ancients are gonna do the same to everyone like them." Sean said before multiple explosions went off before Mako and his brother fell into the water. "Ah hell." Sean said.
"A rather interesting display." Amon said making them face him and his followers. "I was going to show everyone for the frauds they were just like you did. Seems we're more alike than I realized." Amon said.
"In some ways. I however don't believe all Benders are all the same. That would mean you view those who have used their power to help others as criminals when they were the opposite." Sean said.
"I will admit there are many who have used their power for good. However the bad outnumbers the good when Wars have been started by Benders. The Hundred year war and every other war are perfect examples of this don't you agree?" Amon asked making him frown knowing he had a point on that. "I have no interest however in taking the Avatar's bending since I know the Ancients have clearly taught her and doing so would turn them against me." Amon said.
"Where did you learn to take peoples bending away? You said it was an ancient. Which one?" Sean asked.
"That I'm afraid is private information. If I told you now before my revolution entered the final stages everything would fall apart. But I assure you that I will tell you soon enough." Amon said before more explosions occurred making Sean cover Korra as glass fell on them before seeing Amon and his followers were gone after taking down the Police force so easily.
"Well...That went well." Korra said as they stood up.
"This will only get worse. Republic is at war now." Sean said.
Later
After all that was over everyone was in the gym recovering.
"Well...At least no one was actually hurt." Sean said.
"I still don't understand. What Ancient gave him that kind of power? And why?" Mako asked.
"Some of the Ancients have a similar view as he does. One of them must have given him that power." Sean said.
"Without telling you or your mother?" Asami asked.
"Hmm. We'll find out soon enough." Sean said.
Authors Note: And with that the finals come to an end. Tahno and his whole team lost their bending as it is a fate worse than death for them.
