Chapter 20 Mind Games
Everyone was in Odion's room as he was recovering from the attack from the Egyptain Ra.
"Odion hasn't said a word since he passed out." Korra said.
"What do you expect? By playing that counterfeit card he pissed off the Ra of this universe. Marik should have known that there can only be one Card of this particular universe. Only reason they haven't acted towards me is because my cards are counterparts of the Ancients in my universe." Sean said.
"Which seem to be just as powerful as the Gods cards here if not more." Seto said.
"Maybe." Sean said.
"Odion is the only person who contained Marik's darker half. Without him it was set loose." Tenzin said.
"Is there anyway we can wake him faster?" Asami asked.
"No. The damage he suffered mentally is something he needs to overcome himself. Theres only so much modern science can do." Seto said.
"For now. Theres only four of us left who haven't dueled. Personally I feel pity for the one who faces him." Sean said.
"Speaking of which the next selection is about to begin." Seto said.
Everyone arrived back at the selection room again for the next duel selection.
"Here we go." Korra said nervous as the balls started bouncing around before the first one came out.
"Our first duelist is...Number 5 Mai Valintine." Roland said making her smirk.
"This is gonna be easy." Mai said.
"Unless it's against me." Seto said grinning making her smirk.
"Uh oh." Sean said seeing the next ball number.
"What?" Mai asked before.
"And our second duelist is...Number 7 Marik Ishtar." Roland said.
Mai narrowed her eyes at that.
"Hey! Where is he anyway?" Joey asked making Sean widen his eyes.
"GODDAMNIT!" Sean roared running off to Odion's room as did the others.
Sure enough Marik was in his room before pulling the bottom of the Rod off showing a dagger. (For those who don't know there were a lot of things censored or cut out in the Kids version compared to the Japanese version such as this)
"Don't even think about it!" Sean yelled said stopping him.
"This doesn't concern you Kruger." Marik said before yelling as he was thrown out of the room before Sean strangled him.
"You slimy good for nothing." Sean said pissed off.
"Enough." Seto said stopping them. "Let me make myself clear. Anything Happens to Odion and you will be disqualified from the Finals. Is that understood Marik?" Seto said making him growl.
"You've both made a costly mistake by interfering." Marik said before grunting as Sean punched him down before picking him up.
"Don't fucking test me. You have no idea what I'm capable doing." Sean said pushing him off.
"That was close." Tristan said before they walked off.
"Lin." Sean said stopping her. "I need you to do me a favor." Sean said as a magic circle appeared under her before she felt her bending return.
"Let me guess. You want me to keep an eye on Odion right?" Lin asked.
"Do that and you can keep it." Sean said.
"Fine. But that rod of his is gonna be difficult." Lin said.
"Let me worry about that." Sean said walking off to the others as she went into his room.
Soon everyone was topside with Mai and Marik ready to face off.
"Prepare to enter the Shadows." Marik said.
"Whatever you say Freakshow." Mai said as their life points went to 4000
"Ladies first." Mai said drawing her hand. "Not too bad. I play Dunames Dark Witch in Attack mode." Mai said summoning her monster.

"Starting things off quickly, are we?" Marik asked putting his rod away. "Now lets see what my deck has for me or rather us." Marik said drawing his cards and smirked. "I summon Revival Jam in Defense mode." Marik said summoning his Plasma monster.

"And the Magic card, Jam breeding machine." Marik said as some machine appeared.
"I don't like the looks of that." Sean said.
"Its how Marik used some Puppet to summon Slifer to try to defeat him but his strategy backfired." Seto said.
"This machine will breed one slime token with each passing turn." Marik said.
"Tokens usually have low attack points don't they?" Korra asked.
"Usually. Why?" Seto asked.
"Well, if he's trying to Summon Ra wouldn't his attack strength be low when he sacrifices all three?" Korra asked.
"She's got a point." Mokuba said.
"Maybe. Unless he's using it for something else." Seto said.
"Only one way to find out." Sean said.
"You have no idea what you're up against." Marik said.
"Oh clamp it. I know exactly what I'm up against. A nut job who's got some issues." Mai said. "And I know exactly how I'm gonna beat you as well." Mai said.
"Then why do I see such fear in your eyes!?" Marik taunted making her frown. "Our battle has only just begun, And already you doubt yourself." Marik taunted.
"Oh shut up." Mai said. "Now, My Dark witch, Attack his Revival Jam." Mai said.
"Mai wait!" Yami said making her pause. "Thats not gonna work. Revival Jam will just revive itself." Yami said shocking her.
"Is that true?" Sean asked.
"It is. It's an ultimate defense. With the right cards that is." Seto said.
"Thats not fair. Theres gotta be some downside to this." Korra said.
"There isn't. But as it is now she can attack his other monsters when they appear but so far he only has that." Seto said.
"Grr. I end my turn." Mai said.
"My move. I play pot of greed which lets me draw two more cards. Now do you realize that this duel is far more than the likes of you can handle? Observe as my Jam breeding machine produces the first slime token." Marik said as it appeared from the machine.
"Disgusting." Jinora said.
"And Finally I place this face down on the field to render your attacks useless." Marik said..
"I don't like that." Sean said alarmed.
"Marik, must have thrown down a trap that blocks all her attacks on his tokens." Seto said.
"All right, tough guy! Check it out. I play this the magic card Harpie's Feather Duster." Mai said as all his magic and trap cards vanished.
"Nice work. Now his strategy is blown." Asami said.
"This one maybe. But he still has the Winged Dragon of Ra." Seto said.
"Now my witch, the coast is clear, So attack that slime token." Mai said as her monster attacked making Marik lose 1350 life points bringing him down to 2650.
"Nice. She almost brought him down to half." Turok said.
"And to end this I place one card face down." Mai said.
"Very well. I summon Melchid the 4-faced beast. And then I sacrifice both my monsters to summon the masked beast of Des Gardius." Marik said as a three headed monster appeared.

"Now attack her witch." Marik said.
"Nice try. Activate Mirror Wall." Mai said as a Mirror wall appeared reflecting the attack. "Now your attack has cut your attack power in half which means my Which is stronger." Mai said as her witch destroyed Marik's monster making him lose 200 life points.

"Nice. She's in complete control." Mako said.
"Don't think so." Turok said as a mask appeared on Mai's witch.
"The hell is that?" Asami asked.
"Whenever this particular monster is destroyed it leaves behind that mask which allows Marik to take control and Shuffle his deck." Seto said.
"Indeed I do." Marik said shuffling his deck. "Then I play the magic card Remove trap so say goodbye to your trap card." Marik said as it was destroyed.
"Whatever. I'm still in the lead." Mai said making Marik start laughing insanely.
"When you hear laughter like that you know something is up." Reznov said.
"Yup." Julia said.
"I'm afraid the practice part is over my dear. For now we shall take this to the Shadow Realm." Marik said alarming Sean and the others.
"Oh crap not good." Sean said as a purple mist appeared.
"Great." Korra said annoyed.
"A shadow game." Yami said narrowing his eyes.
"Not this place again." Tea said.
"What is this?" Mai asked.
"Mai be careful. This place is full of dark surprises." Sean said making Marik chuckle.
"So you've experienced the power of a Shadow game have you? Good. It'll be that much sweeter when your friend loses more than just this duel." Marik said.
"What do you mean?" Mai asked.
"Like I said be careful. Anything can happen." Sean said.
"Indeed. As you are about to experience losing more than you can bare." Marik said.
"Whatever. I place once card facedown. And I summon the Unfriendly Amazon." Mai said summoning her new monster.

Thats when they all noticed the glow on her.
"The hell is she glowing for?" Korra asked.
"That is not part of my hologram system." Seto said narrowing his eyes.
"It has nothing to do with your equipment. It's part of Marik's Shadow game. Whatever he's up to is responsible." Sean said.
"The energy that surrounds your Amazon is a symbol of you. Or your mind to be more precise." Marik said.
"Huh?" Mai asked.
"If it goes out so will a portion of your mind." Marik said.
"I think I know what he's doing now." Sean said narrowing his eyes.
"Now, My Unfriendly Amazon, Attack The dark witch with soaring Slash!" Mai ordered as she destroyed her former monster.

Marik however just laughed.
"Very good. You've wiped away some of my life points. But Dark Witch was formerly your monster. Therefor you've wiped away part of your memory as well!" Marik said.
"What are you talking about?" Mai asked.
"You see, Mai, Each monster we play on the field carries with it the memory of a person we hold within our minds. So when a monster is destroyed the memory of a person from your life is erased." Marik said shocking her before a card of someone appeared as it spun around. "Now lets see who you've just forgotten." Marik said as it was revealed to be Tea.
"Not, Tea." Mai said.
"Yes, And now she'll be banished from your memory!" Marik said.
"You can't do that!" Mai yelled.
"Theres gotta be a way to stop this." Mokuba said.
"Sadly no. Marik casted the game. She has to play by his rules. If she forfeits...A lot worse could happen." Sean said.
"Say goodbye!" Marik yelled as Tea's card vanished and Mai gasped before looking at where she was not seeing her.
"No...I don't believe this." Mai said making Marik laugh insanely.
"This is the power of the Shadow Realm my dear. Prepare to lose all you hold dear." Marik said laughing.
"Mai are you ok?" Tea asked but she didn't even look at her. "Whats wrong? She's not even looking at me." Tea said.
"Thats because she doesn't know you anymore. Her memories are being wiped clean. Thats the power of a Shadow game." Tenzin said shocking her.
"Theres gotta be something we can do!" Joey said.
"I'm afraid all we can do is watch." Tenzin said.
"Cherish your memories while you can, my dear, for, soon you'll forget everyone and everything you've ever known!" Marik said.
"This is sick." Korra said.
"look who you're talking about." Asami said.
"All right, then I place one card face down. And then I summon Makyura the destructor in attack mode." Marik said as it appeared.

"Next I activate this all powerful Magic Card. The Mystical Black Pendant." Marik said as it appeared on his monster. "This raises my monster's attack points by 500." Marik said.
"Making it 100 points stronger than her amazon." Korra said.
"Time to say goodbye to another one of your loved ones my dear. Attack!" Marik yelled as his monster attacked.
"Don't even think about it. Activate trap card. Amazon archers." Mai said as Archers appeared firing arrows at Marik's monster. "Now you just lost the same points you gained. Unfriendly Amazon attack." Mai said as his monster was destroyed.
Marik's life points 1850 (By the way in the show they messed up his life points so I fixed that here)
Thats when A rare Hunter known as Strings appeared.
"Like I actually care who gets erased from my mind." Marik said.
"This guy is more sick than the old Marik." Bolin said.
"No kidding." Mako said.
"I also hope you realized you helped me. By destroying the black Pendent you've helped me take 500 life points from you." Marik said making her growl.
Mai's life pointe 3500
"And I'm afraid theres more to come, my dear. My monster comes with a special ability when cast into the Graveyard. It allows me to play any trap card from my hand." Marik said. "And this one will certainly do. Rope of life." Marik said as a hole appeared before a rope went in. "This will allow me to bring my monster back and increase the attack points by 800 making it 400 points stronger than your Amazon." Marik said shocking her as his monster appeared again and destroyed her Amazon.
"No!" Mai yelled before the victim of her memory was revealed. "No! Not Joey!" Mai yelled as he vanished making her fall to her knees.
"Seto we gotta do something. This isn't fair and way over the line." Mokuba said.
"Like Sean said. Theres nothing we can do. She has to get out of this mess herself." Seto said.
"But..." Mokuba tried to say.
"Mokuba. Theres nothing we can do. These games are pure hell. Thats why they were locked away both here and in our universe. They bring nothing but suffering." Sean said.
"But there has to be someway to help." Mokuba said.
"Maybe there might be at least one." Sean said as his puzzle glowed.
Mai suddenly found herself in a light before Sean appeared.
"Sean?" Mai asked.
"Listen to me. You can get past this. The Damage Marik's done is not permanent. Defeat him and the damage will be repaired." Sean said.
"I don't know if I can. I feel all Alone." Mai said.
"Your never alone. I once felt that way as well before I found out who and I what I was. Even then there were plenty of people by my side keeping an eye on me. Just remember that and you can defeat him." Sean said making her nod before the light faded.
When that was over Mai narrowed her eyes as Marik growled.
"Kruger! Mark my words you will pay for interfering!" Marik yelled enraged.
"Oh please." Sean said.
"What did you do?" Seto asked.
"Oh used my puzzle to help out." Sean said.
"Now then lets get back into the game." Mai said making Marik growl.
"You'll wish you backed out when you had the chance." Marik said.
"Whatever. I play Amazon Chain Master in attack mode." Mai said summoning her next Monster.

"Then I'll play one card face down." Mai said.
"Is that the best you can do? HA! Your monster is weak compared to mine. But for now I play holding arms." Marik said playing his next monster.

"Hmm?" Sean said.
"Whats he up to?" Korra asked.
"I don't know but I don't like it." Sean said before it latched onto her monster.
"My monster can stop yours from attacking for 3 turns." Marik said.
"Just make your move and stop wasting our time!" Sean yelled making him glare.
"We'll see who's wasting time soon enough." Marik said.
"Don't worry I got a plan." Mai said getting his attention. "I activate the magic card Grave Arm." Mai said.
"What is she up to?" Seto asked.
"I wonder." Sean said.
"This Magic card can burry one monster on the field." Mai said making Marik laugh.
"Sorry, but my holding arms are still invincible right now." Marik said.
"Who said I was using it on your monster?" Mai asked making him frown. "I'm using it on my monster. And Since I'm destroying her My memory stays the same. But thats not all. Now she can take a card from your Deck. And I think you know which one that is." Mai said making him smirk.
"Your after my Winged Dragon of Ra." Marik said.
"Bingo." Mai said as she took the card before it was in her hand.
"That was a good move. Now Marik can't summon it." Sean said.
"Not bad. But the question is can she use it." Seto said.
"Lets find out." Sean said.
"First I'll place two cards face down. Then I summon my Amazon fighter." Mai said as she appeared.

"And here I thought Amazons were powerful. Once she's gone another piece of your mind will be gone. Go Makyura!" Marik ordered as it went on the attack.
"Not so fast. I activate Amazon Magician. Basically it swaps the attack points of our monsters. So in other words your monster's attack points become my Amazons and her's become yours." Mai said as her fighter destroyed his monster.

Marik smirked at this before Arkana appeared from his mind only to vanish.
"That fool wasn't worth a second of breathing." Marik said.
"Guy is just as bad as Anubis." Korra said.
"Hardly. Just as Vile sure but not as dangerous." Sean said.
"You fell into my trap. Reveal Card of Last will. This allows me to draw five new cards when the attack points of my monster decreases." Marik said drawing his cards and smirked. "Next I play nightmare wheel thanks to my monster's special ability." Marik said as her fighter appeared in some wheel.
"Yikes." Asami said.
"Nice try. I activate rescue operation. This lets me rescue my Amazon and place another monster from my hand onto the field. And I choose Cyber Harpie." Mai said.

"I get it she's playing it smart." Asami said.
"Yes. If she summoned Ra to the Field now it would have no attack points or defense points. So she needs three monsters to sacrifice." Seto said.
"Now I play Graceful Charity which allows me to draw three cards but give up two." Mai said drawing her cards before giving up two. "And now I play the Magic Card Elegant Egotist. This turns my one Harpie into three." Mai said as two more appeared.
"The Winged Dragon of Ra." Seto said grinning.
"And Now I sacrifice all three to summon the Winged Dragon of Ra." Mai said as they vanished before the the skies lit up.
"Wait something isn't right." Sean said making Seto look seeing Marik grinning.
"Why is he grinning? He's about to be crushed by his own card." Seto said not liking this.
"Uh guys?" Korra said making them look before some golden Sphere appeared.
"What is that thing?" Mai asked.
"The Winged Dragon of Ra is locked in that sphere." Marik said.
"What the hell? It's never done that before back home." Sean said.
"How am I supposed to use it?" Mai asked.
"Why don't you try translating the chant on the card." Marik said making her look at it before gasping seeing Egyptian writing on it.
"What the? That wasn't there before. Is this another of your tricks?" Mai asked.
"Hardly. You don't think just anyone can summon a mighty creature such as Ra now do you? I don't know how the one in Kruger's universe works but I doubt it allows just anyone to command it. Only those here who know the ancient scriptures can use Ra." Marik said.
"How does your version work?" Seto asked.
"As long as those who use it are worthy in his eye he will do as you command and use his power for good. Anyone else who uses it for selfish gains and unworthy are sent to the Shadows. But theres no chant to say to use him. Wonder what it says." Sean said.
"Good question. Mokuba. Photograph the card and scan it through the database." Seto said getting him to do that and ran off.
"Stare all you'd like. It's written in a special form of Hieroglyphic script used by high ranking individuals in Egypt. Though I'd wager Kaiba could read it." Marik said confusing him.
"What does that mean?" Seto asked.
"I think he's referring to your past life in Ancient Egypt. The one on that stone tablet at the Museum." Sean said surprising him.
"How'd you know about that?" Seto asked.
"Yami and Tea brought me there wondering if it was familiar to me. It wasn't. I did meet Ishizu there though. She told me she knew about us coming here long before it actually even happened." Sean said.
"She told me the same thing. At the time I didn't believe her though until you all actually showed up." Seto said.
"Well, if you won't read the chant then I will." Marik said.
"Oh fuck." Sean said alarmed.
"And to make sure none of you can interfere." Marik said as a barrier appeared around the two to prevent them from interfering. "This time Kruger you won't interfere. Now on with the Chant." Marik said.
"This isn't good." Tea said.
"Great beast of the sky, please hear my cry. Transform myself from Orb of light and bring me victory in this fight." Marik started as the orb started transforming. "Envelop the deserts with your glow and cast your rage upon my foe! Unlock your powers from deep within so that together we may win. Appear in this Shadow game as I call your name! WINGED DRAGON OF RA!" Marik yelled as it fully appeared and roared loudly.
"Oh no." Mai said in fear.
"Now attack Mai directly. And send her mind to the Shadow Realm!" Marik yelled as Ra blasted Mai making her scream as it neared her.
Only for a metal Dragon to block it.
"WHAT!" Marik roared as it ended before he got a better look at it seeing it was a dragon with highly advanced technology that roared at him.
"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear." Sean said getting his attention seeing him with a white glow as his puzzle glowed as did the Eye on his forehead. "You have no idea what I'm capable of doing. Meet the Ancient inside me. The Blue eyes Shining dragon." Sean said as it roared at him again.
"Well, Things just took a more interesting turn." Seto said smirking.
"Oh you have no idea." Korra said.
'If thats the God Level Ancient inside him I wonder Whats inside her.' Seto questioned.
"GRRR! I'VE HAD ENOUGH WITH YOU INTERFERING WITH MY PLANS KRUGER!" Marik roared.
"Whine all you want. You have no idea what I can do. I can destroy you with little to no effort as you are now." Sean said making him growl.
"The duel is over. The Winner is Marik Ishtar." Roland said making Marik growl as Sean walked to Mai before taking the Winged Dragon of Ra and tossed it to Marik who glared.
'This power is perhaps even greater than that of the Pharaoh. Perhaps I should rethink on which one to take.' Marik said.
"Fucking beat it." Sean said making him snarl before walking away.
"That was close." Joey said rushing up.
"So thats the Ancient inside you?" Yami asked.
"Oh yeah. Korra also has a god level one inside her. It's called the Rainbow Dragon." Sean said casting his Magic as it appeared and roared.
'Interesting. I wonder if he also made this one into a card as well.' Seto said impressed.
"What about the rest of ya?" Joey asked.
"Bolin has a low level one known as the Ojama King." Sean said.
"Not surprising." Seto said making him sulk while the others laughed.
"Mako has one known as Solar Flare Dragon which is a Mid Level Ancient." Sean said.
"And Asami?" Yami asked.
"A high level one known as Perfect Machine King." Sean said making Seto smirk.
"Is that so?" Seto asked making her grin.
"You expect anything less?" Asami asked.
"Oy enough flirting...OW!" Turok yelled as Sean hit him.
"Will you shut up?" Sean asked.
Authors Note: Sorry for the wait Some things came up and delayed the update Nothing Major. Anyway Next Chapter Seto versus the Mystery Duelist. And then we head into the Finals. Main reason I'm skipping the Noah Arc is because one that arc was just to extend the season since it wasn't actually part of the Manga series no was Season 4 but that one I plan to do.
